Connection / syncing my iphone to Mac

My husband and I had an iPhone 6s.  Previously, he was an Apple ID and is able to connect / sync to our MacBook Pro iCal and iTunes.  I created my own Apple ID, but I can't seem to synchronize with our iCal on the Macbook Pro.  How to fix this?

Do you mean that your husband will not help you?

Seriously, you need your own user name on the MBP.  Its connection identifies him as does his iPhone.  You need to do the same thing.

After you install this, you should also consider family sharing.  We use them, and it's really slick.  There is a family calendar that use both of us and we have all our own personal calendars.  Ditto with reminders.

You must upgrade the operating system of the computer. Unless you want to stop the upgrade to an intermediate version, back up your data, check your applications for compatibilityand download El Capitan from the Mac App Store.

If your Mac is not compatible with El Capitan, you will not be able to upgrade its operating system or to sync the iPhone with the release of Mac OS X iTunes.

With a bit of work by someone who knows how to do such things, not Apple computers could read some files on the Mac if file sharing is configured on the network... devices non-Apple and... He knew the device passwords or administrator for Macs.

  • Music library syncing my iPhone to my Mac

I recently bought a Macbook Pro (move from a Windows-based computer) and after syncing my iPhone to my Macbook, I noticed that my entire library of music on my iPhone does not sync to my Macbook. I'm not 100% sure but I think that only the music that I bought through iTunes transferred and all music, I bought the CD and ripped from iTunes on my old computer and then sync my iPhone has not been transferred. I think I have the appropriate settings transfer the entire library of music.  I suspect I need to subscribe to Apple music or iTunes game to get my ripped to a music CD to transfer on my Macbook. I know I can't use correct terminology but basically doesn't transfer any music coming from a CD purchased to my Macbook and I want to correct this.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You cannot synchronize back from your iPhone to the new Macbook because the synchronization works only for Mac to iPhone via iTunes. It is a concession to the music industry to prevent people from easily unload their collections of DRM-free music on multiple computers.

You do not want to transfer your music library from your old computer to the new Macbook and load it into iTunes. You can then establish the sync of the Macbook to iPhone iTunes library if you choose to do so.

Once you have all your music on the Macbook in iTunes, you can then decide if you want to use iTunes game or Apple's music with iCloud music library. These options will make your music library available on any device that you logged in with the same account. Under this configuration you only need to manually sync from Mac to iPhone. You will see all your music on the phone available for streaming or you can choose to allow some of them local offline listening rather than streaming.

  • iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "iPhone", because an invalid response was received from the device.

So I am a new iphone 7. I had a 6 before that. Everything was fine until the day where I got the 7, I decided to try a manual on itunes for my 6 backup so that I could put this on the new phone. I use now icloud backup but before that he always did on my computer. Its itunes version 12.2.2.25 as it is the most recent, that I can run with 10.7.5 which is the newest my mac pro can work without hacking it. Again, never had a problem before it save and use it to transfer music. Anyway, I received the message "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone"iPhone"because an invalid response was received from the device." I tried 3 different usb cords. I tried both ports to the front of the computer and all 3 in the back. Abandoned and did a backup icloud. Installed on the new phone. Everything transferred except my music library which is real download of my CD via itunes. If something was wrong on the iphone 6, surely the new phone that starts with a clean slate will be very well... wrong.  Same message. Leaves through ports, cables, etc. Is it just a simple matter of ios 10 now works with my version of itunes?

A new phone will be iOS10.  iOS10 requires iTunes 12.5.1 find which demands in turn 10.9.5 OSX or newer.  Software update checks only the updates to the current version of the system that you are running but that itself can be updated.  It may or may not be possible to upgrade your computer to the system requirements. Find your computer on the web site of http://www.everymac.com model and near the bottom of the specification of the system section, he will tell what versions of the operating system, it is able to run. If you can not run a newer system, you will not be able to sync this phone to your current computer. OSX 10.9 and 10.10 are no longer available. You can try to install the free El Capitan OSX 10.11.  El Capitan can run slower on older machines and require the additional purchase of RAM (4 GB is a minimum realistic and many recommend 8 GB).  Making a big jump in versions of system is also more likely to affect the old software.

  • sync the iPhone with iTunes but even different ical and contacts

I would like to sync an iPhone to my mac, my wife and I share. Is it possible that I can connect on the same iTunes account to share our music, but keep our calendars, photos and contacts separate?  Currently, I have my own user account on the computer and I sync with iTunes, but it is not any music. If I put his music library in a shared folder that I have access on the two user accounts, can I delete everything on my phone to sync with the new iTunes library? I wouldn't delete all my apps and everything. Is there a better way to go about this? If it's important, we do not add music to our iTunes so it could be acceptable only for copying all music files once if it was the best way to ensure the rest of our things remain separated. Thanks for your help!

  • Problem syncing between iPhone 5 (iOS 9.2.1) and iMac (OS 10.11.3)

I have a problem syncing between iPhone 5 (iOS 9.2.1) and iMac (OS 10.11.3). Purchased or updated on the iPhone apps are not copied on the iMac, during synchronization.

    Howdy Paul Peeters,

I understand that you purchase apps on your iPhone and you want to synchronize on your iMac.  For these applications automatically added to your iMac, you may want to activate the automatic downloads on the Mac.

This article explains what you see.

If your applications are not transferred from iTunes to your device after the update to iOS 9 - Apple Support

iOS 9 includes a new feature that allows you to download only the parts of a necessary application for your device. This saves the storage space on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch when you install an application that supports this feature. Update to iOS 9, iTunes is not used to restore your applications when you restore your device. Instead of this, optimized versions of your apps download from the App Store directly on your device.

If you can see the apps on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, and they seem to be waiting to download, make sure that you are connected to WiFi or Internet. Once you are connected, the optimized versions of your apps download automatically to your device.

Similarly, applications that you add to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch won't sync or transfer to iTunes on your computer. If you want to download apps from iTunes, turn on automatic downloads in iTunes preferences. You can also download previously purchased apps to iTunes.

    Best regards

I don't know what you want to do?

    1. You want to transfer photos from your iPhone to your Mac?
    2. Or you want to synchronize devices - have libraries of same Photos on your iPhone and your Mac?
    • You want to transfer photos from your iPhone connect to your Mac via a USB port and import all photos back to your Photos Libtary. Then add the new photos imported into your other albums from the album 'A' recently imported.  You can also activate my photo stream on the Mac and your iPhone to automatically download all the photos again.
    • If you want to sync the iPhone with the Mac and have libraries of identical Photos, sign up for storage iCloud enpugh hold all your Photos and then activate iCloud photo library on your Mac and your iPhone.   See;  iCloud Photo library FAQ
In this way, the libraries of Photos on your Mac and iPhone will be kept in sync. Any photo that you add to a library will appear in the other. Any photo that you remove a unit is removed from the other device as well. You need to activate "Optimize storage" on the iPhone, if storage is not enough to contain all the photos.
