Windows Update servers IP address range

Could someone advise what range of IP addresses is used by windows update, to add the latter in our firewall to allow access to our servers. Thank you

It can as this discussion related (but not conclusive) since April 2009-online http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-windows_update/ip-adresses-to-get-microsoft-patches/5eab0dfa-039c-4a09-a077-78493fadb2dd

For security reasons, the IP address for the Windows Update web site is constantly changing, and it is not a fixed address. In addition, there is no official publication of IP addresses. Setting the IP addresses on the firewall for this purpose is normally not recommended. Instead, we suggest allowing all outbound connections on http & https ports or set the DNS addresses as authorized destinations for traffic through the firewall.

For information on IP used by Windows Update, use the DNS system, as it's the only reliable source of information update. If you are using DNS, make sure that the following destination hosts are specified:

http://windowsupdate.Microsoft.com

http://*.windowsupdate. Microsoft.com

In this case, it is recommended first to check if your Internet connection is working properly. To do this, open a browser (such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.) and type in any website (such as www.google.com, www.yahoo.com, etc.) in the address bar. Press the Enter key on your keyboard to start the Web page. If the Web page does not load, then it may be a problem with your Internet connection. We recommend that you follow the troubleshooting options mentioned on the links below to solve this:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/cant-connect-Internet#1TC=Windows-8
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/network-connection-problem-help#network-problems=Windows-81&V1H=win81tab1&V2H=win7tab1&V3H=winvistatab1

If the Web page loads successfully, then your Internet connection works well. In this case, run the tool in troubleshooting Windows Update from the link below and see if it works:

  • How can I fix error 802400D Windows Update?

I had a lot of problems with Windows Vista 64-bit. Now, the most recent is 802400D error!

I tried to get help from Windows support, but they wanted me to pay $150.00 if I just bought the Lap top in December.

  • Windows update error 80072eff

I saw trying to install the windows update with no luck.  I am running XP SP3 and IE8.  Everytime I try to download I get error code 80072eff.  I'm under Firewall from zonelabs.  I turned it off and it still didn't work.  I am also running norton antivirus.  I added the http//download.microsoft.com and some other sites for the trusted on IE8 site.  Still no luck.  Any ideas?

0x80072EFF network problems prevent connection to the Windows Update servers.

The Windows Update.log file may contain the following error messages:
    Error 0x80072EFF
    Error 0 x 80190193

This problem occurs if the server is busy and also you suggest you check your security software to ensure that Script blocking is not enabled.

    Hi Sarma_RN,

    1. When you receive the error message?

    2. update you are trying to install?

    3. When was the last time you were able to install updates?

If Windows Update, error 80072ee2 during updates, the Windows Update servers may experience an unusually high number of requests for updates. Close Windows Update, wait 10 to 15 minutes, and then run Windows Update again. Alternatively, you can wait for automatic update of Windows run at its next scheduled time.

These errors can occur caused by one of the following problems:

    • Applications or processes that interfere with Internet communications
    • Problems on your computer
    • Strong Internet activity
    • Recoverable database errors

See the Microsoft article and try the steps mentioned below.

  • Windows Update works only on windows 7

Suddenly getting an error code 80244019 windows when I try to use windows update. It all started yesterday when Microsoft gave me 15 updates... Can not find answers as to what to do to solve this problem - I use windows 7 and I don't want windows 10!

The error code indicates that Windows Update server contains a high number of requests for Windows Update. This could be due to the patch Tuesday when Microsoft publishes updates.

    City of Microsoft:

If you receive this error when checking for updates in Windows Update, Windows Update servers may experience an unusually high number of requests for updates. Close Windows Update, wait 10 to 15 minutes, and then run Windows Update again. Alternatively, you can wait for Windows Update to run at its next scheduled time.

If this does not work, try to add the Windows Update Web sites to your firewall exceptions list, and then rerun the update of Windows.

Windows Firewall ships with this version of Windows and should already include these sites in the exceptions list. If you are using another firewall, see Help for the software publisher to see how to add these websites to your firewall exceptions list:

  • Windows Update is still at 0% download, MSE does not, update any problems to connect to Microsoft's servers?

I just installed windows 7 on my laptop and my desktop computer. My laptop works 100% fine without any problem at all. However my office is struggling to download updates via both windows update and to Microsoft essentials security.

The State of windows update is still ' Windows is downloading updates (all 0%). "and never changes.
Microsoft security essentials tray status is 'Check updates', and when I restore the window it says "search...". ", but no progress beyond this point. The MSE has only been going on for about a day now, but the Windows update thing has happened since pretty close to the installation.
I don't know if that helps, but initially I think downloading an update, then remained in the thing of locking system, to the "installation 1 of 4 do not unplug the computer" for 8 to 10 hours, so at that point, I had to disobey microsoft and reset the computer.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

I guess that part of the question could be a driver which is really old or similar should not be loaded.

This exit Windows updates on (after you have access) and stop the updates of the driver to load.

    Hi misterboumsong,

    1. Click Start and type ncpa.cpl to open the network connections window.
    2. right click on Local area connections > and then select Properties.
    3. Select Internet Protocol v4 (TCP/IPv4) > then click on properties
    4. check if the IP address and the DNS servers are set to auto which is "obtain an IP address automatically" and 'obtain DNS server address' is marked.
If they are not set to automatic, then put them on automatic, and then try to go to the windows update or microsoft download Web site and check it out...

  • Looking for a Windows Update updates forever

Hello! I have problems with Windows Update on my old laptop with Windows Vista Home Basic installed.

Basically what is happening is not able to complete the search for updates. I tried Microsoft FixIt (it reveals an error 0 x 80070003 in the end and it can not correct no matter how many times I run) and manually reset Windows Update components, no luck, yet research forever. Strange thing I noticed is that the Windows Update standalone packages seem to work for only on a few minutes after the connection, after that even that they stop working (hungs just Installer on "search for updates", duh). Is it possible to fix it? I really want to reinstall once again, because I already did and it's this thing (for the first time after several relocations). I'll appreciate any help.

    Hi BuIlDaLiBlE:

Since August 2015 there has been a large number of Vista users announcement on Windows Update (WU) hooked to the initial phase of "checking for updates...".  The problem seems to be more severe in Patch Tuesday updates when a large number of updates is displayed on the MS. servers  To date, the only solution I know is to start a manual WU and then leave your computer idle (often several hours) until WU reports finally updates are available for download.

I started a thread in this forum entitled August 2015 Windows Update Vista requires an hour to run to the end that could provide useful information and thread from March 2016 Jamie1968 only updates Windows Vista stuck when searching could also be useful.

It is also a very long but informative thread started by ScousaJay in the VistaForums titled update of windows just seems to hang when searching where several Vista users, including myself, send messages.  This thread will give you at least an idea of the range of patches unsuccessful people have tried, and if no reliable solution is finally found I imagine it will be posted.

Affected most Vista users report a long block for "check for updates..." but no other obvious problems such as error messages or downloads to fail.  I don't know if your MS FixIt error points to a possible problem with one of your components WU, but you might want to run Microsoft System tool update just to see if it finds problems.  MS has download links for this tool for 64-bit and 32-bit operating systems (Vista and higher) in the support article the what is the analysis of system update tool? and article WindowsClub CheckSUR: tool updates the system to fix Windows Update has a good explanation of the works of this tool.

  • DHCP Server address range

    Hello

I was wondering if there was a way to change the integrated DHCP server address range of 192.168.1.x for, say, 192.168.0.x?  For example, when you change the IP Address of the router from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1.  I noticed that when you post such a change, the DHCP range does not update accordingly.  Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Paul

Your range of DHCP server should update automatically to the 192.168.0.x subnet when you change your "local IP address" in 192.168.0.1.   Be sure to use a computer that is connected to your router when you perform this operation.  In addition, be sure to click 'Save Settings', and then to wait (from 3 to 60 seconds) screen refresh.  You will be probably disconnected from the router when you perform this operation.  Don't worry about this.  Turn on the router and your computer.

Then, wait 30 seconds, and then restart the router and the computer.  Now, your local IP address and range of DHCP servers should have the same subnet.
