Windows update/microsoft downloads impossible!

I tried now to the pointwhere I give up! try to update windows home premium, and also when I try microsoft downloads, it will not work indicating the link always seems to be broken - he also said connection problem-i run my internet through a router cable ok - please anyone advise which blocks access to the files!

Hi misterboumsong,

1. Click Start and type ncpa.cpl to open the network connections window.
2. right click on Local area connections > and then select Properties.
3. Select Internet Protocol v4 (TCP/IPv4) > then click on properties
4. check if the IP address and the DNS servers are set to auto which is "obtain an IP address automatically" and 'obtain DNS server address' is marked.
If they are not set to automatic, then put them on automatic, and then try to go to the windows update or microsoft download Web site and check it out...
5. in the event that the two are set to automatic, then try to set the address of the DNS server to "Use the following DNS server address" and type 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2
6. click OK and then click Ok again.
7 restart the computer once.
8. try to go to the update of Windows or Microsoft Download site and check if it works

I did everyting for repair/upgrade to update / save the components associated with the windows updates and microsoft Setup. I also deleted the cache update and downloaded fresh copies of the updates, but still no instlal. I even did a repair install on xp at a given time. The machine had a malware infection, but I healed part, including purging the master boot record and wiping the boot sector. Hello

No error codes or other details for us to work with, give your machine a melody by following these steps.

Search for malware, if necessary using the safe mode with networking.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-Windows-in-safe-mode/#Vista

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

Once in Safe Mode with network, download and run RKill.

RKill does NOT remove the malware; It stops the Malware process that gives you a chance to remove it with your security programs.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/

Then, download, install, update and scan your system with the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware in Mode safe mode with networking:

It would be a good idea to run the System File Checker tool if you have corrupted files

"How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the files on system missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7"

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

If SFC detects serious flaws, you may need to perform a repair upgrade Installation or relocation complete if you don't have a Vista DVD from Microsoft.

If you can borrow a DVD of Vista from Microsoft you save doing a reinstall full:

Yes you can.  Usually, the OEM factory restore option will automatically erase the drive.  You will need to check with Compaq on recovery methods they offer and how to access.

"I have also two adapters network with yellow!  next to them in the Device Manager. I tried to uninstall, but they relocate! »
Well, if you do a factory restore this issue should correct itself.  However, if you uninstall a hardware device, the system detects the device at startup it will attempt to reinstall.  If the network adapters are part of the motherboard you can turn them off via the BIOS.

  • Update Microsoft Access impossible after disk crash

I am running Windows XP Pro.  After a drive failure, I recovered using recovery HP which had been established 2 years previous discs.  Then I restored my data backups.  I now need assistance in several areas:

    1. I'm unable to access Microsoft Updates.  I gives me an error message indicating that I am not allowed to register on the site.  My o/s was purchased with the workstation
    2. I am unable to logoff or shut down the workstation.  (it seems to stop and I'm unable to click icons after I have try to logoff) I need to physically close the workstation by pressing the power button.
    3. I lost IE7 and all updates I had before the crash.

?? How can I access the MS Update site? - and is it possible to get all the updates that are lost including IE7 by CD/DVD rather than trying to download them (dial-up modem)
