  • Repeatedly offered the same update

Windows Update keeps trying to install the same update (KB981852) again and again. Whenever update is a new update, downloads and installs it. He says that the update has been successfully installed. When the dialog box is closed, a new dialog box appears and wants to download the same update. This is repeated 10 times and I can't seem to stop trying to install this update.

First of all, it's a little strange that answer appears PA bear prior to a post submitted more than 12 hours. before him. Also, it is strange that I never was warned of his assignment until I was informed that it was marked as a response, so I never had the opportunity to react before it has been marked as an answer.

My bad for not specifying not what operating system it has produced, but a quick search on Google for the update number of, whowas in my post, would have revealed that this is a update of security for Windows XP (mine is 32-bit). The machine is the free version of Comcast of Norton Security Suite installed and is therefore always up to date. Norton manages spyware blocking (although the Defender is much less than it is in any case). And of course, Norton provides the firewall (although I had to manually turn off the Windows Firewall three times after installing Norton; it was before installing the update above). It was a totally clean, after being shaped and test of surface, installed Windows XP Home OEM from an installation disc (I am a member of the Microsoft Partner Network). There are three other machines Windows XP here (2 with Pro) and the other with the House, all the 32 bits that had recently reinstalled OS which has not experienced this problem when the same update has been installed on them and all had Comcast of Norton installed before the offered update version. It's news to me that there is a toll free number to get free assistance for the security updates, it seems to be a well-kept secret, that I can find no mention of this inyour research support, on or off the Microsoft Web site.

Yet, none of the foregoing is an answer to my question, as seems to be preferred on the Microsoft Forums, unless it is summarily assumed that the applicant is a fool, then all the possible solutionsobvious are specified, even when the applicant stated that he had tried these thingsbefore asking for help.

In all cases, the problem seems to have been resolved by simply saying to Windows Update to stop advising me of the update.

  • Repeatedly offered the same 5 updates

    question 1

my research of computer for updates every day 10:00, I install them, it seems to have succeeded then the shield reappears to tell me that the updates are ready for my computer? It's really confusing and it seems to be the same 5 updates, is there a problem with these updates and how to fix it
    question 2
my windows xp continues to come with a corrupted file is related to question 1?
Please help IV ' e have no idea what to do about it
    Hi vickysumner,

-Do you remember the number of Knowledge Base (KB) updates that are offered to install several times?

-What is the corrupt file that you're talking about?

-Do you have pop ups or any error message that a file was deleted? If Yes, specify exactly the error message verbatim.

Method 1: Check the status of the updates in the update history.

    a. click Start, click all programsand then click Windows Update or Microsoft Update.
    b. on the Windows Update Web site or on the Microsoft Update Web site, click view update history. A window opens that displays the updates that have been installed or that have failed to install on the computer.
    (c) in the State of this window column, find the update failed to install and then click on the red X.
    (d) a new window opens that displays the installation error code. Note the error number. You will have to type or paste the error number in a search box to the next step.

Method 2: Also, try the steps listed here:

You cannot install some programs or updates

  • Repeatedly offered the same three updates

I had my computer (an Acer all-in-one destop) for a few months now and it froze on me once and he had automatic updates that would install when I went to close. So I had to reboot by pressing the power button. Now, it has been downloaded these same updates three but not install them when I turn the computer back on. I have Win 7 Home Premium 64 - bit OS. Is there anyway this can be fixed?

  • WU repeatedly installs the same two updates. KB2686828 and KB2656839.

I am repeatedly offered the same two updates that are installed automatically. When I try to install any other optional updates, they are downloaded but do not install. When I check the update history, there is no failure message or any indication the downloaded updates tried to install. I tried to install in the clean boot state that didn't work and I tried to fork to install. The two who installed do not add and remove programs. I also tried the update fix - it who said that had changed the location data. Is there anything else I can do? Thank you.

Did you change your computer before this problem?

This problem occurs when one of the following conditions is true:
