Windows Vista install still holding

Hi, I bought a new hard drive and im using my Vista installation disc to install it on the computer. He spent long hours now. about 16 to be exact. The screen is black, but I can move my arrow again. I read online that it is in a step that when will show a blue circle on the black screen and then go to a screen where I enter a username and password... Is it normal to take if long (ive never done this before) and if something wrong how to stop running by pulling out the plug? I don't have what it takes to destroy anything...

Also old hard drive to the computer and hardware had vista on it (bought in 08) and the new hard drive is compatible it says on the box... so as far as I know, everything should work with it.

The installation failed, then you might as well give up now.

Do not install an operating system is usually caused by (in order of probability):

1. you are trying to install with other devices connected to the computer. Unplug them before trying to make an installation.

2. "" "" defective installation media. "" Check the CD/DVD installation for scratches, tasks. Try another machine.

3. bad optical drive. Test with another CD/DVD bootable or Exchange for a well-known work.

4. faulty RAM. Test with Memtest86 + www.memtest.org . You will download the .iso image file to create a bootable cd. Burn the file with the third party burning software *-as an image, not in the form of data. Then start with the media that you did (you may need to change the boot priority in your BIOS so that the optical drive is the first boot device). The test runs immediately. The test run for an hour or two--at least that errors are seen immediately. If you get any errors, replace the RAM.

* It is not necessary to have a third party burning software in Windows 7 since Win7 natively allows to burn an .iso. Other operating systems require it. A good free choice ImgBurn comes from www.imgburn.com .

5. bad hard drive. Test with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr... You create a bootable CD with the files you download. Burn the file with a third-party burning software (unless you have Windows 7, that allows to record the .isos natively) - as an image, not in the form of data. Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. The physical tests fail, replace it.

6. other hardware components are faulty.

No matter what I do, computer wants to open the Recovery Manager and according to the available procedure does not work.  It works me in circles asking for #1 drive, then the drive recovery supplement and back with no progress.

What I have to do is use this form: http://vistahomepremium.windowsreinstall.com/installnewhdd/installnewhdd.htm but only the Recovery manager opens when I boot from the CD.

    Anyone have any ideas?

If I followed your questions correctly... you had a BIOHD-2 error, ordered HP recovery discs, replaced the hard drive and tried to restore your system with no luck. Is that a correct assessment of the situation?

OK, you need to make a Windows Vista install screen... not who's going to go with your HP recovery CD/DVD. The disks do not contain the Windows installation routine, only the HP Recovery Manager. These discs contain more or less, an image of the HP installed OS and software, plus some drivers and applications. To the best of my knowledge, you should have three DVDs (1 of 3, 2 of 3 and 3/3) more an additional drive. You should boot from CD 1 of 3... Then, when asked to insert the 2/3... Then, when asked to insert 3/3. And finally if/when necessary additional drive.

  • Windows Vista Business still don't not patched with SP1 via auto-mises to update or manual updates

Our laptop Fujitsu is installed with Windows Vista Business. We have been used for about 1 year more, get the updates via automatic updates.

I read that Vista has up to SP2. But check the details of the system shows that no service pack has been applied. So I trigger the update via IE-> tools-> Windows Update. He said that "no important updates available.

I think that when you apply SP1, it will move from IE7 to IE8. So, we still have IE7.

Why the service pack is not available for our case?

    Kind regards

    A1. Yes.

A2. You are 'safe' for now, as long as the computer kept fully patched to Windows Update otherwise. That being said, there will come a time in the not-too-distant that a computer without SP1 installed will not offer still updates all founded. ~ Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (that is to say, mail, security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ WARNING: MS MVPs represent or work for Microsoft

  • Windows Vista, installed McAfee AV 2012, will activate, McAfee said it's a windows problem

Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, running IE 8, had installed IE 9 but McAfee said they had problems under IE 9. Have executed APPREMOVER and cleaned all security software. Have installed McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2012, but cannot activate it?

Any reason, you must use McAfee? I bought three computers with McAfee already installed, and the first thing I do is get this crapware off my machine. I would never use the programs made by McAfee or Norton.

Norton and McAfee are the two least friendly Windows security and swine resource to start programs. My ISP offers the McAfee security suite for free and I refuse to use it.

I used to use Avast in conjunction with Windows Defender, (still a decent option), but since MSE became of age, I have used which. MSE is an anti-virus, Anti-Spyware and Anti-Malware program all in one. IMO, it is a program MS got it wrong. And all of these options are freeware.

If you choose to give it a try, download and save the MSE. Remove McAfee and install MSE.

I am trying to build a new office, but I reuse my hard drive from my old build considering that 64 bit OEM vista installed I know it won't work with the new construction, but my question is, installation of windows 7 delete all existing files or replace only vista?

To add about the Bill, you must use a copy of Windows 7 retail.  OEM copies are not for end users to buy and install.  OEM System builder packs are governed by the System Builder License, and you must be a system integrator that sells computers for customers to use.  A person who built a computer for personal use is not a System Builder, as defined by the license.  Such a person can be called a -your-self or anything you like but Integrator system is defined in the license:

  • Windows Vista installed either?

My computer came with windows vista originally, and I installed as a single operating system ubuntu. How can I go back to windows vista?

    Hello

Here are the different ways to reinstall Vista

Contact the manufacturer of the laptop computer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    ____________________________________________________________

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

    __________________________________________________________

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

How to get Vista recovery Media to back to factory settings.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
