You can also contact HP and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

Many many people have this problem when I talk to others. Miscrosoft compromises our computers so we would have to buy new ones?
They know there is a problem and they don't even try to find a solution for this. In this economy, they force people to buy new computers, they will just leave people blocked company becase NOBODY takes the phone, if you do not have email, people don't keep in touch, if you are not on a social network or business networking nobody will know your business, you won't make any money nobody reads the ACTUAL newspapers these days, everybody reads the news on the internet. They only hurt people, they are forcing anyone to buy a new computer, people just can't afford it. Hundreds of thousands of people can barely keep their utilities on. In doing so I wish they will reconsider. I am disabled I will definitely cut if my computer goes down for good.

Can we do any smell that?

There are also a lot that I need to run startup until the restoration. Windows restarts after the crash of the blue screen, I reinstalled windows twice, it works fine until I have start to install all updates. I have only installed MSE and it still happens. I lost all my music I paid a lot of money for, my paintings for children, important documents, all because I had to reinstall windows twice now.  I may have to reinstall them once more and I do NOT wish to install the updates again. He really never stops until I installed updates to windows. I thought that if I use the programs from Microsoft that it will work, because after all, it's all done by the same company, but no, nothing works. I am so in the sincere real despair. Be alone without technical skills, hardly what actually on my disability check, now I'm going to cut everyone. Now I can't do ANYTHING without it crashing, nothing fun anyway. I tried Microsoft fix, I tried so many solutions. I paid for Adobe photoshop, because I like to draw things and I'm terrified to install it. I'm afraid to do anything fun or useful on this computer.

If I can afford a new computer at any time, I think I will try Apple, I lost my trust in Windows. Unless they make an effort to solve this problem, then I would give them a chance again, but not if they will try to help. I'm so frustrated. I spend a lot of money on this computer, it's an ENTERTAINMENT laptop and I get not very amused.

    What is going on?

    Hello

Could be heat related - try using a small fan to blow into the air intakes to see if that helps.
It is just like it loses power or stop it in the normal way? Heat associated
does not necessarily mean excessive heat, it could be something is too sensitive to the same
normal levels of heat. Also a computer will produce more heat as is pointed out how adding
software or updates, among other measures, causes it. Of course those actions should not
cause enough stress or heat to shut down the computer.

For a laptop on everything that you can do is reinstall the memory and clean the ventilation openings (still may try to add
a small fan as a test). Of course first remove all power.

This sounds like material so if the above does not help you then probably need help
a real computer store (not the leeks and the glances at a Best Buy or other stores) or the
    Support of system Maker.

  • Windows Vista - stuck on logging off the screen

I have this same problem with Vista Home Premium that others have had.  When I tried to shut down the computer laptop last night, he is stuck at logging off-page - with the active circle always renewable.  After 20 minutes or so I was tired so close by using the power button.  This morning when I turned on the laptop, he went to the same page of disconnection. 3 hours later, it's still there!  My technical knowledge is, to say the least, "limited."  I tried to open safe restart mode and pressing F8, as suggested on other threads, but which didn't work - I can not go beyond the logging off the screen. How can I solve this?

I had the same problem... This method works.

Turn on the computer and when the screen shows recovery Windows press the space key.

You will be presented with 2 options - either to continue with system resume or to remove the Hibernation file and start with primer system - choose the second option - you're fixed!

You can't say the product key.  If you use an Installation of Vista genuine disc it will install its own version to know the product key when you are prompted to enter (all versions of the same size of the bit are included on the authentic disc).

    KiranS Hello,

Judging by your post, it seems that Microsoft had technical problems when you tried to activate your copy of Vista by phone. Have you tried phoning the line Activation again?

The normal procedure is that if the activation fails through the automated system, the call is transferred to a real person. It is the only available option if you get the error 'use existing product key'.

I can only suggest that you try again the activation by phone and see what happens.

This forum post is my own opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion or the opinion of Microsoft, its employees or other MVPS.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

If I understand correctly that you have problems with the installation of Windows Vista Service Pack 1.

    Please answer these questions:

    It shows in system properties?

    To open system properties:

    (a) click Start, right click on computer

    (b) click on properties

    (c) see if it shows Windows Vista with service pack 1 on windows edition.

Hope the helps of information. We know if you need help. We will be happy to help you.

  • The product key you entered will not work with this edition of Windows Vista. You must run the Windows Vista Setup program or enter a Windows Vista business product key

Product key bad for the wrong version?

    Hello

Recently the computer in business inherited from a friend, very fast and very good. Regardless of the operating system no - geniue, is with Vista Business, while the thumbnail of authentication is Vista Ultimate. I took a screenshot of what it says when I put Vista Ultimate product key: (it does not appear if you are unable to use it: P)

He said: "the product key you entered will not work with this edition of Windows Vista. You must run the Windows Vista Setup program or enter a Windows Vista Business product key."

How would the installation of Windows Vista? My files would still be there when you need him? My drivers would still exist? No matter what to get deleted or become unusable? He would return to SP1? Any response is welcome.

You can order form of the manufacturer's recovery media.

The reason why the system as non-authentique shows currently is using a license in Volume KMS - these licenses must be re-activated at least every 6 months by connecting to the KMS user license activation server.

It will require a reformat and reinstall whatever you do, unless you can connect to the KMS - Volume media server cannot be upgraded under normal conditions.
