  How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.

  There is no Vista free download legal available.

  Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

  Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

  If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

  Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  The operating system of Windows XP which is not the operating system on which was installed when you purchased the Dell hard disk from Dell? If so, it's probably an OEM version and as such is "related" to the system BIOS, it came with. It will not activate connected to a system with a different motherboard and a different BIOS. In addition, if an OEM, software license version is no longer valid because it is no longer used with the material with which it was purchased.

Last days, I experienced a large amount of blue screens, closures, slow behavior and I finally decided to bite the bullet and reformat. My problem is I have more drive Vista OEM with me and what I read online the win 7 upgrade product key only works if I'm upgrading from a current version of Windows. Both products are authentic and I am willing to share this information to purchase with Microsoft. Is it possible to get a clean install of Win7 key in this case or any other alternative suggestions?

  If your computer comes with a qualifying previous license such as Windows Vista or Windows XP and the certificate of authenticity is still attached to the machine in good condition, then the COST is reason enough to represent the compliance to the software license agreement.   Click Install now

  IIR, you got it in the mail, it should have a packing slip that accompanies it with serial number for information.  who can be paired the phone room in settings/general/about.  Should not your old phone number because it is no longer relevant. Warranty info can be obtained with the new serial number

  I got my CD of HP recovery and ordered a new WD 500 GB HDD... same features as the seagate who pooped me and I can't get windows install on the new HD

  No matter what I do, computer wants to open the Recovery Manager and according to the available procedure does not work.  It works me in circles asking for #1 drive, then the drive recovery supplement and back with no progress.

  Anyone have any ideas?

  If I followed your questions correctly... you had a BIOHD-2 error, ordered HP recovery discs, replaced the hard drive and tried to restore your system with no luck. Is that a correct assessment of the situation?

  OK, you need to make a Windows Vista install screen... not who's going to go with your HP recovery CD/DVD. The disks do not contain the Windows installation routine, only the HP Recovery Manager. These discs contain more or less, an image of the HP installed OS and software, plus some drivers and applications. To the best of my knowledge, you should have three DVDs (1 of 3, 2 of 3 and 3/3) more an additional drive. You should boot from CD 1 of 3... Then, when asked to insert the 2/3... Then, when asked to insert 3/3. And finally if/when necessary additional drive.

  Most modern computer would still be better.

  Win 7 (because of the higher DX support) could do a little better (memory 2 GB spent is not a crucial issue).

  However the most important aspect is the graphics card, if the computer has PCIe slot that can accommodate right foot scaled PCIe card you can stretch performance.

  If it is regular PCI or AGP. Start saving for a new computer.
