Windows XP cannot create connection DSN ODBC in SQL Server to SQL Server

I create an ODBC SQL Server DSN connection on my desktop Windows XP domain.    I select the system DSN and ADD.  I select SQL Server, and it will return to the original system DSN screen.   What's wrong?  Has anyone seen this problem?  There is another on the list system DSN data source so I know that the possibility existed before.

Hi Pearlyshells,

I would have you post your query in the MSDN Forums, because it is addressed to an audience of it professionals.

Your request would be more out there.

  • Cannot create a dsn between CF 6.1 + SQL2005

I have SQL Server 2005 edition for developers and CF 6.1 installed on computer XP Pro, but I am unable to create the DSN using the administrator of CF.

I tried to set the name of the (local) server, 127.0.0.1 and using the name of the computer.

With the help of (local) results in the following error message:
"Connection verification failed for data source: webquery.
java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] error socket creation. "Unknown host: (local).

Using 127.0.0.1 generates the following error message:
"Connection verification failed for data source: webquery.
[] java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] [SQLServer] Login failed for user ". The user is not associated with a SQL Server login that is approved. »

If I entered a user name and password using 127.0.0.1, I get the same message (but stating that my username is not reliable).

TCP/IP is enabled on the SQL Server (as stated on Ben Forta's blog and the blog of Charlie Arhart, but allowing the TCP/IP has not solved my problem).

I can only connect to SQL server using Windows authentication. If I try to create a new specific desired DB user, I get the following error message:
"An exception occurred during the execution of a Transact-SQL statement, or both... The MUST_CHANGE option is not supported by this version of Microsoft Windows... "Error: 15195.

    My CF administrator settings are:
    CF data source name: webquery
    Database: webquery.mdf
    (Local) Server

Any ideas on what I should do?

    Melvin,

    Success!

I have downloaded the DataDirect driver, restarted CF MX 6.1, re-verifyed the DSN and came with a new error message, saying that something like that could not find the database. Just for the heck of it, I edited the DSN and removed the suffix of the file the Database Name field, and it worked!

Here is the link to the technical note that I used for the download:

  • Cannot create the data source to SQL Server

    Hi people,

I am running IIS, Windows XP SP3, SQL Express 2005, Trial Version of ColdFusion 9 (no patches).

The administrator using ColdFusion, when I try to create a data source for SQLExpress 2005 (SQL Server Express), by using the SQL Server driver, I get the following error:

Connection verification failed for data source: AMT
java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] the requested instance is not valid or is not running.
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] the requested instance is not valid or is not running.

The "instance", which I interpret as meaning the database instance, is "machinename\SQLExpress" (it is a so-called "named instance").  That's what I enter in the "Server" field of the display (data & Services-> sources-> Microsoft SQL Server).

However, I am able to create an ODBC data source name in Windows using the driver Microsoft SQL Server Native Client Version 09.00.3042 and the same instance, "machinename\SQLExpress".

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong?

Try to use the domain name TCP/IP (or IP address) and port instead of the info of the connectivity of Windows style.  You may need to enable TCP/IP as a network on the DB server protocol well (I think it is disabled by default on SQL Express Ed).

  • The client (Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7) users can connect to Microsoft Small Business Server 2008?

    Dear all,

I intend to install on Server 2008 SBS Active Directory domain controller. In this session, I would like to know the client users can connect to the SBS server or not. If CAN, I want to know the steps & solutions on this answer and if NOT, why the clients could not connect to the SBS server.

Server 2008 SBS can also be installed on the sequence of steps:
SBS 2008 (AD, Exchange Server, SQL 2005 or 08, CRM4.0). It depends on the situation of the organization.

I really want to know that, if we install steps on SBS 2008 above, can clients connect to the server?

  • Cannot create a x 64 2003 virtual server on an IBM x 346 Server

    Anyone, anyone?

I am creating a windows 2003 x 64 server in esx3.5 on an IBM x 346 Server. When I do, I get the following error message:

"CPU host is incompatible with the requirements of the Virtual Machine to CPUID level 0 x 80000001"edx"registry."

    Bits of the host: 0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000

    required x1xx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx

Inconsistency detected for these characteristics: * longmode; required when a virtual machine is configured to a 64-bit guest operating system"

I was check the IBM and VMWare site and not much help so far. The x 346 support 64-bit servers, but it seems that they can support them not in a virtual environment. Help!

When you say that activation does not appear in the bios?  What you mean?  You can not activate VT?  Or that it shows not active?

If you enable it, you must down voltage then power on the system and turn it on.

If your bios does not have the ability to activate, you can update the bios if you are not on the latest version.

If you're on the latest version, then the MB is not compatible VT

  • Unable to create a DSN in 64-bit on Windows Server 2008 64-bit SP2

I try to install vCenter server 4.1 on a Windows Server 2008 64 bit SP2.  When I get to the step of the installation where it asks for the DSN, the Setup program cannot find the DSN I created and told me to create a 64-bit DSN.  I use the ODBC data sources utility in administrative tools to create the DSN.  I also tried to create the DSN with the ODBC utility available in the sysWOW64 directory.  Creating DSN I only give myself only one possibility for a pilot:

Name: Company of Microsoft SQL Server Version: 6.00.6002.18005: Microsoft Corporation files: SQLSRV32. DLL DATE: 11/04/2009

With the 32 in the file name that looks like it is a 32-bit driver.  Any ideas?  Thank you

You can try to install the version SQL NATIVE drivers that ARE 64-bit.  That could help.

  • Windows 7 64 bit cannot create local port through registry

    Hi all

I write a vbs to create a local port to connect to our server to printer (ie the local port for \\PrintServer\PrintQueue1). I can create the succesfully local port by editing the registry HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Ports and restart the spooler service in Windows 7 32 bit. However, the same script can not create the port in Windows 7 64 bit. The registry has also been changed, but cannot create the local port after you restart the spooler service. Does anyone know what is difference between 32 and 64-bit Windows when creating the local port?

Turns out in my case is a subtly incorrect registry key in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Ports].  Specifically, the (default) entry has existed as white.  Must read (value not set).  A solution is to export the key to a file... and are looking for online reading: @= "", open the file and delete this line, port of registry and Rename Ports.bad (for backup), and then import the file. "  That's what I did and it worked fine after restarting the spooler.  Another solution might be easier to remove the (default) entry, and then restart the spooler... In any case, I have now all my ports which survive a reboot.

I can't join or create a group of houses in windows 7 it says my pc and laptop cannot create a how I should I followerd all articles I can find on the microsoft kills site

    Hey borq Queen,.

Welcome back you hear. If, after completing all the steps below, you are still unable to create or join a homegroup, I think that the issue is to do with IP/V6.

Check your setting of the adapter for IP/V6. Your network connection must have IPv6 enabled to create or join a homegroup. If it is disabled, follow the steps below to activate it.

    (1) right click on the network icon and select open network and sharing Center.

    (2) in the window that appears, select change the parameters of the map.

    (3) in the network connections window, select the connection to the Local network for the Integrated NIC, and then change the settings for this connection or the file > properties.

    (4) in the connection properties page, check the box for Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).

Close all windows and restart your system.

    Try to create a homegroup.

You should be able to create or join one after the activation of the IP/V6.

  • Windows cannot create the network map. Responses of the other devices on the network are delayed or on the network, there is a router incapatible

    Original title: no network card
I installed a NETGEAR N300 Wireless USB Adapter on my computer which is a desk top Dell 64-bit running Windows 7 Edition Home Premium. There are five computers on my network. Two of the others use the same model of NETGEAR wireless USB adapt. I removed the Ethernet cable after the installation of the wireless adapter. I can say that the new wireless adapter works fine. When I tried to map the network I got the same message that appears in some of these problems: "Windows cannot create the network map. Responses of the other devices on the network are delayed or there is a router on the network incapatible". I have restarted this computer in SafeMode as suggested in the above problems. I tried other things like disabling the wired connection has always existed for the cable. No effect. Then I tried mapping the network on the other computers. All failed with the same message. All the other four computers are 32-bit. Three of these computers are also running Windows 7 Home Premium. They are the best desktop computers. The other computer is a Windows 7 Starter netbook running. It is the 32-bit computer, always using a cable. That will be replaced with the same wireless adapter model NETGEAR. Anyone know how to fix this or is this a bug? It would be nice of the network software of Windows 7 has worked as it is supposed to. TO.

I went the last wired wireless computer and the problem disappeared. The five computers can view the map now without any problems.
