* original title - I can't disable the monitor in auto. power options are set to turn off monitor after 5 min, but it never turs of when I stop using the unit *.
The display on my Y450 turns off after 5 minutes if it is connected or not. I changed the power settings on all levels of the power to never turn off the display, but he keeps doing. I thought that maybe it had something to do with windows is not fully updated so I did it earlier today, but it has not changed. It doesn't matter whether the system is energy saving, balanced or a custom.
I don't know what to do to stop it, but it's annoying when I play videos and turn the screen on every 5 minutes. Is there another program I'm missing that somehow overrides the power settings?
You may also need to change the power settings for the windows power management and lenovo power management.
We also know, that the problem persists only watch movies?
I put my screen saver to turn on after 1 minute of inactivity. He does not. I followed the instructions for the Dell Studio PC monitor owner, without success (i.e. type msconfig in the search field, etc.). Could it have something to do with the type of computer that I use (IT ' has an ASUS K52F series)?
It would be useful to know what checks you did already [especially because your reference in msconfig means you did not hurt already].
I assume you have checked the installation was properly completed and everything on the monitor & PC are in agreement. I suppose also that you have checked the monitor & display settings in the display panel and checked power options.
Check the entries in the Manager of devices for all the warnings, and then try to update drivers - particularly the card video than the one responsible for many problems of power management driver.
Run the troubleshooter of power
then run both the troubleshooters maintenance & Control Panel Performance, troubleshooting.
If the settings you put in do not appear in the advanced power management options so watch this one then
Finally, check your hardware compatibility http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-gb/Default.aspx
When listening to the music of Grooveshark, the sound turns off after a minute. Must press the key or the mouse to re-activate. I turned off the screen saver. Cut off. Grooveshark said that they have no control over that, but the operating system. Can someone help me with this?
Try the following steps.
Sometimes a Web site you visit doesn't look like you expect it. Images may not appear, menus may be out of place, and text boxes may be blurred together. This can be caused by a compatibility problem between Internet Explorer and the site that you are. When a site is not compatible with Internet Explorer, you'll see the compatibility view button in the address bar. You can activate only display Internet Explorer compatibility for the office.
Use compatibility mode in Internet Explorer:
I would say to change the mode of Internet Explorer 9 browser.
Steps to follow:
a. open Internet Explorer, press the F12 function key.
(b) in the part of developers, click browser mode and click on Internet Explorer 9.
If the Web site uses flash player, try to uninstall and reinstall and check if it helps.
It will be useful.

I have a new hp running windows 8.1 in turn and have tried to install the adobe reader software. The installer downloads (1) and I choose to run it, but it is just a blank screen appears. I checked the Task Manager and it takes memory, but does nothing. After you let it run for 3-4 minutes, I kill the task. What can I do to get the player installed on this machine? I tried using chrome, firefox, and explore and get the same results with everyone.

work in IT Support generates many puzzles, but I currently have a Satellite Pro A60 which cuts off after 3 minutes.
I have deleted the main CPU fan and have noticed that the VGA Chip Set fan fails.
It is not at all which makes me think that it is completely broken or there is a problem with the motherboard.
Who is more likely and if not card mother, can I buy a VGA heatsink thermal elemnet / separate fan and if so what is the part number and ball park cost?
As you already suggested this strange faucet portable bottom may be related to high temperature and to overheating.
You are right; the malfunction of the fan could be a reason to close automatically and sometimes down.
> can I buy a VGA heatsink thermal elemnet / separate fan
Usually, the cooling modules are pieces separately and can be replaced.
But notebooks disassemble and replacement of cooling modules is not easy and a little more difficult for someone who has no experience and never changed something like that. It s just too risky, because this person may damage the motherboard very easily.
So, it's probably best to contact the technician of specifications for these s replacements!
The ASP can command the support of the head of Toshiba warehouse cooling modules and compatible and could replace it.
Best wishes & congratulations buddy ;)

It's just started happening yesterday. I use a Toshiba laptop and out of nowhere, my PC goes in power saving mode after one minute when ALL my settings for this mode is 30 minutes. Does anyone know how to fix this?
- Did you the latest changes on the computer?
- When was the last time it was working fine?
- You have security software installed on the computer?
It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.
I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
See section to learn more about how to clean boot.
How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State
Reset the computer to start as usual
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
(a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
(b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
(c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.
(d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.
If the previous step fails then I would suggest that you update the display adapter drivers, basic input/output system (BIOS) and motherboard chipset drivers.
Important: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

I have a problem with the way my Defy plays music.
I'm ciau built in music player and it works fine if I listen to it from the widget of the screen, but if I go into the player's menu and manually select a song in the list he stops playing after 3 minutes (once the screen goes black).
It's really annoying as I'm going jogging, I can't listen to the favorite podcast that she stops after 3 minutes. I have to keep hitting the widget button 'next' until I find this podcast to listen to it without interruption.
In addition, music player is not on the list of end in my task manager.
Monitor turns off after 5 minutes & password protect when he wakes up. View properties - > screen saver "Wait: __minutes" and "on RESUME, Password Protect" checkboxes are grayed out.
I'm on a processor to work, so I've limited the administrative rights on the computer. My work function requires that I propose on the desktop to help others with professional assignments.
THE PROBLEM: After 5 minutes of inactivity mouse/keyboard of the monitor off on the processor to work, she does not even go to a screensaver first, the screen turns off just in standby mode. When the mouse is moved or a key is struck, the screen lights up with a name/password user. I am developing carpal tunnel / repetitive stress syndrome having to retype my username and password so darn times per day, at the expense of some administrative setting of BOGUS Microsoft Windows... SHEESH!
When I click on Start-> settings-> Control Panel-> display-> Display Properties-> screen saver , the "Wait: __minutes" and "On resume, password protect" checkboxes are GRISEES OUT [you can't edit these settings] . In addition, the default screen saver is set to void and no matter how many times I change it to something else and click 'Apply' return empty by default.
TWO SERIOUS CONCERNS:
Un When I'm away from my desk for more than 5 minutes, if someone arrives at my office, looking for me, it seems that my machine is completely off, so that co-workers can get the impression that I am out of the office when I could very well be just down the Hall.
Two The Office I'm implemented in a motion sensor energy saving lights in the office, if the lighting turns off automatically too, so if I'm missing in the server room or help someone at their work station for an extended period of time, if someone comes to my office, looking for me, my machine seems to be completely off AND turned off the lights in my room , so it's as if I has not yet come to the office that day there! PS. I have a screenshot of my locked dialog box display-> screen saver properties if you need more information. I wish I could download it right on this post to make things clear.
PPS. Isn't it above described situation in the heart of the reason why employers more these days this demand we have iPhones, BlackBerry and SmartPhones? Because doctors and human beings humans with a bit of common sense finally realized that we must be sure that we move around during the day, at least several times per day, not only the stationary to our office location - watch a screen - ensuring that move us the mouse every five minutes so that our machine is not hibernate and look like it is not to do anything?
PPP. If Microsoft can not help me with a work around for this issue because this issue is, 'something that I take with my 'network administrator',' kiss my _______! Everyone must be wrong because of the stupid administrative _ like this and if yes - I NEED TO KNOW - maybe I was just not cut for a job on time full computer.
Hello JDG_SF, welcome.
These options are very likely controlled by your GP (Group Policy) settings on your domain. Due to the nature of the work of rights how administrative, there is no way to work around this problem, unless you have access to change group policy settings that affect all the machines on your network.
You would need to access or to change the settings of GP or find someone who already has access.

My laptop turns off after about 20 minutes of use. I checked for dust and clean battery etc. Any other suggestions? It has been suggested that I have to find and fix bugs in C drive but I don't know how - as any help much appreciated.
Is what model laptop?
Dust in the heat sink is often the cause.
It can also be caused by a dry heat pipe (liquid escaped), or dried up CPU thermal grease or a failed fan.
Or its possible that the power adapter is faulty, or she cannot provide enough amps, or a power adapter non - Toshiba is used.
HelloI have windows 7 starter edition. I recently had a Trojan virus on my computer, it was called Trojan:Win32 / Ramnit.AThis virus had caused me to not be able to turn on my Security Center, but now it was fixed and the Security Center now works. However, my Center of the action is to tell me I need switch my firewall, but it doesn't let me it says: Action Center can't turn on the firewall. So I clicked on activate manually but when windows firewall comes up it says "windows firewall does not use recommended settings to help protect your computer. Next to the post is a button that says "use recommended settings, but when I click on it an error message comes up saying:"firewall Windows cannot change some of your settings. " Error code: 0 x 80070424. I used diagnose and automatically fix problems of Windows Firewall service (Microsoft fix it)... I ran the program and after troubleshooting had finished, he said that 2 problems have been detected:1. Windows could not start the windows firewall.2. Windows firewall service is not started.None of them have been set.Help, please!Camille
It could be that you are still a few remnants of the virus. Take a look at this site for some good information.
I hope this helps.
I'm at the end of my rope here. I searched every value that I can find in the Panel control (under the display and Power Mgmt), but regardless of these settings, the screen goes black after 1 minute. If I press a key or mouse pad, it appears immediately.
