Windows xp no icons

After an accident, I used my windows xp installation disc to repair. He brought me back in but there are no icons on the opening page. There are icons in safe mode. When I try to use the system restore it also tells me that there is no restore point. No internet access. Can't activate Windows.

If you made a 'repair installation' Windows XP and was upgraded to SP2 or SP3, IE7 or IE8 since your original installation, then you should probably read this article:

  • Windows Boot Camp icon shows not boot disk

    Hello guys!

I just installed Windows 7 Pro 64-bit edition. I used the wizard Bootcamp, and everything seems to have been installed correctly. I did not use any Wizard part 3rd NTFS to format the partition. I just followed the steps with the Bootcamp assistant. When I'm on Windows, I can easily switch from Win to Mac OS with Boot Camp assistant. However, if you use Mac OS, the icon for windows is absent in the startup disk. There is only the Mac OS disk. I can only switch to windows if I restart my computer and click on the option. Is it possible for the Windows Boot Camp icon appears in the Start Option? I use a Macbook Pro retina, 13-inch, late 2013, running on a Mac OS X El captain, version 10.11.5. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

  • Windows XP home - icons arranged in order alphabetical Z - A

Hi, I have no idea why my computer started to do this, but now all my MS explore windows arange al icons in them first with the shortcuts folders Z - A, then Z - A files, although if I arrange me by type, file extensions are A - Z, but the file names are Z - A in their breast.

If I click on "organize by type", for example, once again, it's always a - Z on everything except the file extensions are now Z - A too.

The same thing in all my 'open' and 'save' dialog boxes. Microsoft will not give free assistance because he told me to go check with the manufacturer of my computer (I have a Toshiba Equium MX40).

I tried messing around with a case until he is almost back to normal and to "apply the settings to all folders", but the parameters do not change on all folders and sooner or later, this issue will return to the messed up order. All apply to all folders seems to do is link pairs of files randomly so that changes to one affect the other, which is annoying when he connects things like 'my images' in 'my computer' so if I do 1 miniatures, they are two thumbnails.

Is it possible to stop it so weird quality? I would rather not reinstall windows. My microsoft office is too weird, but I'll post that elsewhere.

  • Windows Photo Viewer icon is not displayed

    I use Windows XP.

I installed Picasa Photo Viewer and photo file icons in 'Windows Explorer' under Windows Picture Viewer in Picasa.

After UN-installing Picasa and the restart, photos open with Windows Picture Viewer again (which is what I want), but Picasa is always displayed next to the name of photo file in Windows Explorer. Once the photo file has been opened, however, the Windows Picture Viewer icon is displayed in the upper left corner.

Newly saved photo files are also open with Windows Picture Viewer, but are showing the Picasa icon beside the name of photo file in Windows Explorer.

How can change the icons of picture file to the Windows image viewer in Windows Explorer?

I use Windows XP-are these steps still apply?

  • Query of the Windows security shield icon...

Hi my name is Michelle Maria... windows security shield icon should be at the bottom right of the screen even when everything is turned on? for example: firewall, automatic updates and protection against viruses... Thank you very much... Michelle Maria x

    Hi Michelle,

Windows Security Center can help enhance your computer's security by checking the status of several security essentials on your computer, including firewall settings, Windows automatic updating, anti-malware, Internet security software settings and user account control settings. If Windows detects a problem with any of these security essentials (for example, if your antivirus program has expired), Center security displays a notification and places a Security Center icon in the notification area. Click the notification or double-click the Security Center icon to open the Security Center and get information on how to solve the problem.

    Activate the Security Center

Let's get this out of the way first. To disable the Security Center Windows XP open Services:

    a. press the Windows + R key in the window that appears, type services.msc

    (b) in the window that appears, scroll down to Security Center and double-click it.

    (c) in the use of box 'Startup type' the arrow of scroll down to choose 'Activate' click apply and restart, or, click apply and click on the button that says Stop.

To open the Security Center open Control Panel:

    a. press the Windows + R key in the window that appears, type control.exe

    (b) in the window that appears, double-click the Security Center icon.

Hope this information is useful. If you need further assistance, please answer and we will be happy to help you.

  • Remove the Windows 7 Desktop icon shadows

How can I remove the shades of the Windows 7 Desktop icon? Whenever I place the cursor on one of the icons that square shadow appears behind her.

I tried just abut everything to stop these shadows to appear.

    Thank you

The solution to remove the shadows of the desktop icon is to show the performance Options screen and remove the control of the last listed issue "use Visual styles on windows and buttons" then click on apply and then OK. This will change the global settings for Custom.

However, there are some side effects of the use of this option that removes the shadows of the icon on the desktop. It changes your taskbar to style XP Taskbar and change also a custom icon, menus, and other advanced to default appearance settings. All the settings you have previously changed must be reaccomplished.

When you open Internet Explorer, it looks great in color etc that he did with XP which is now easier to read that Win 7, I feel. Each person will have to just play with the advanced appearance settings and select the ones they like best.

So far, I'm very happy with the settings I have now and also do not have the shadow of the icon on the desktop.

  • Windows 7 network icon systems do not show popup connections

Normally, when you simply right click on the Windows 7 network icon in the system tray, it opens a window showing your connections and available all other connections. Now however, after using the laptop for several hours, and after that unlocks a few Office and a resumption of the mode standby, this no longer works. I click and nothing happens. The only way I can access this is right-click on the icon, open the network and sharing Center then click on "connect or disconnect." It is a pain I need to connect/disconnect continuously different VPN.

If I re-boot it starts working again. I can't find the exact scenario to make, work stoppage, but it happens regularly.

Hope there is a fix for this.

He has seen this happen. Usually, this is the icon itself disappearing, not functionality
    you encounter.

My Windows 7 desktop icons will be a small box around them, the box is white and has perforated lines.  Not a big deal, all simply boring.  It is usually around the last icon I used.  But sometimes randomly will appear around, most frequently the trash.

Have you tried to go to customize and change your theme?  Maybe redefine things will help the issue.  You can also try re - install (or looking for a newer version of) your graphics card driver.  You can normally find this by going to the manufacturer of your computer site, click Help, and then by entering your model number.

    A few guesses.  Weird problem!
