Windows XP NTDETECT failure

I'm trying to fix a friends computer, when I try to start the computer, I get an NTDETECT error. Then, I turned off the computer inserted the ERD and he turned his back. Once in the repair screen, I type in the COPY D:\i386\NTLDR it: and when I hit enter I get and answer access is denied. Y at - it a way to get arround this or I have to reinstall Windows from scratch? The computer is a Dell Dimension 2400 running Windows XP or at least it was.

Hello

Many times this is caused when the computer tries to boot from the CD-ROM or a diskette not bootable. First verify that no floppy drive or the CD's in the computer, unless you are trying to boot from a floppy disk.

This error is also known to occur when a memory stick is in a card reader and the computer tries to boot from it. If you have any flash drive or card reader to ensure that no stick of memory is inside the computer. In addition, disconnect all the disks USB, cameras, ipods, iphones, etc. of the computer.

Resolution:

Repair the file system boot sector or the master boot record (MBR) also try to fix the Boot file.

Set the BIOS to boot from the CD first. When you start the computer, you will see a message that says something like "Press F2 to enter Setup". Many computers also will say something like "press F12 to view a menu temporary boot. If you have this option, take it. Insert your XP installation, and installation CD, take the immediate R for repair.  Assume that any requested password is empty or if you have assigned a password for the built-in Administrator, enter this one. Assuming that your optical drive is D:\, type:

    COPY D:\i386\NTLDR it\:
    COPY D:\i386\NTDETECT.COM C:\

Remove the CD and type Exit. Restart your machine, hopefully in Windows.

  • Compaq Presario SR5130NX: Cannot start Windows Vista after failure - HELP!

Hello! My building has undergone a complete failure so 4 days ago I used it. Power resumed 3 hours later, but I was not able to log on since.

Normally, I turn on my PC, and about 30 seconds later, a window pops up asking you my password. After entering it, the PC come by my office. Now, when I turn on the PC, it brings me to a blue screen with a mouse cursor in the Center (which I can move), but there is nothing to click on.

When I press F8 during the boot process and choose an option from the window "Advanced Boot Options", I still can't start my computer normally.

Here's the "Advanced Boot Options" I tried, after consultation with my brother a little more PC-savvy:

1 repair your computer - after I see my black screen that is usual with the words "Microsoft Corporation" under the green bars that scroll from left to right for about 15 seconds, a blue screen appears with the mouse pointer in the Center (which I can move), but there is nothing to click on.

2 mode safe - while the PC display several files on start up and down, it stops on "Loaded: \windows\system32\drivers\disk.sys" for about 20 seconds, then proceeds to a black screen with the words "Safe Mode" in the 4 corners and the mouse cursor at the Center (which I can move), but there is nothing to click on.

3 safe mode with network - see "Safe Mode" above.

4 safe mode with command prompt - see 'Safe Mode' above.

I downloaded a DVD recovery based on Linux in knopper.net, allowing me to access important files, which I copied from the desktop to an external hard drive (4.1 GB iso file).

PC Windows XP of my brother has a recovery disk, but my Windows Vista PC did not come with one. I've seen a few paid versions, but looked resources due to cool weather and free shipping.

I can't tell if I have the 23-bit or the 64 bit version of Windows Vista, so I downloaded both versions of an open source sourceforge.NET startup repair, which I burned on 2 DVDs. After you run the startup repair program using two DVD, the diagnostic results have been uploaded online at ubuntu.com for review and technical analysis. Here are the links:

    Hello

Since you already have KNOPPIX I try Gparted and use it to 'clean up' the score because it will stop in an impure State.

    NTFS

    [1][11]NTFS-3 g / important

    GParted will try.

Also, I would consider the old problem with fat systems, floppy disks etc. which sometimes a copy of sys files from a floppy disk to a hard drive has reactivated a bootable system.

So, if system files have been damaged, then replace them since a Setup disk.  Because he goes to options, what kind of work.

    Hello

The message says that something is wrong with the HARD drive.
It might be possible that your HARD drive will die sooner or later so his need to backup data on another HARD drive, disk or flash memory.

Finally, I must say you n don't need to buy a new laptop just because your HARD drive starts to hurt work in such cases purchase a new HARD drive and replace it
HARD drive is not very expensive and the replacement of the HARD disk is very easy in your user manual

    1. what exactly happens when you run the backup program?

If a scheduled task does not run when you expect it, right-click the task, and then click Properties. On the Task tab, make sure that the enabled check box is selected. On the tab schedule, check that planning is set correctly.

  • Update the configuration Windows Windows 7 stuck failure

Hello. So my computer I've had for the past four years has been upward for most of the day. When my friend built the computer for me, he used a cracked version of Windows 7 that I never understood how to remove, so I just stuck with him as the operating system. Over the months, my system recognizes it as a counterfeit copy, but I never knew what to do. I bought a key for Windows 7, but have not circumvented to apply again. Today, I started my normal computer and noticed that he was stuck in the update screen, arguing that it was 35%. This screen seems to stay there for about an hour before I just turned off and restarted. Subsequently, now at the start of my computer it just gets locked in the stage of configuration failure Windows Update and rest at home until he gets in forest exploitation off the coast of the State. My cursor is not visible on the screen. I have original Microsoft installation disc to return to something to see I have to solve this problem by the permissions on the computer. I can't access my desktop. All the boot in advance the settings seem to have no effect at all. All that gives the same result. I ran my Windows memory Disgnostics tool, but it also seems to do nothing more. Please help, my computer urgently need. Thank you.

    Hi Zacharai,

Thanks for posting your concern. To further isolate the issue, we need to ask you a few questions.

1 did you change on your computer recently?
    2. is it booting up to Windows?

If so, please open the command prompt as administrator, and then type sfc/scannow. This will check if there is corrupted system files that are at the origin of the problem.

We suggest that you get a copy of a disc legitimate Windows 7 and installed in your computer, to avoid further problems in the system.

You can download the Windows 7 Setup and use your product key to activate it. Please see this link to install Windows 7: download Windows 7 Disk Images (ISO files).

    Let us know the result.

  • Windows 7 upgrade failure - I'm going crazy!

I'm persistent failures to update on my Win 7 on the ssme updated each time I try. Some get installed, but those below seem to be updated for Security who do not constantly and the error code is always the same. The failures are:

    KB977074 KB978506, KB977165, KB971468, KB975560, KB978251, KB976972.

The failure error code is A 80071, 90.
I tried the MS help page stuff, I tried my noteboook creator - ASUS, and they just returned me to the Ms. I'm not an expert in PC and I now spent three whole days, try different things, disable Norton, check the Windows Firewall, insertion of new MS 'Trusted Sites' URLs etc, etc, etc are done everything to nothing. Can anyone here help me please. After all the hassle with Win Vista and now this with Win7, my patience expires with Microsoft and Apple looking better every day.

Solution: My wife has had this same problem with 27 updates failed with the error code A 80071, 90. It turns out that it's your internet connection. It must be an Ethernet connection and a WIFI connection. This is because the WIFI in many situations a reset during the download and causing errors during the download of the update. Temporarily change to an Ethernet connection solved the problem with only do some updates at the same time and not all at the same time 27.

  • Lenovo T420 with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit - Windows Genuine validation failure

I have directly from Lenovo Lenovo T420 bought end of 2011 which began recently to show the message that its not running Genuine Windows.  He fails to pass the validation test.  He also stopped treatment of the Windows updates since December 15, 2014.  All fail with the error 800706F7.  I don't know if that is related to the failure of the validation.  I would like to get the Windows validation problem all solved first guess that they may be related.  Is attached a copy of the report full diag.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: called Microsoft validation and validation of phone attempt to id software.  Has been informed by the agent that the product ID has been blocked by Lenovo.  Suggested I upgrade Windows, purchase a new license or call Lenovo.  Release with support from Lenovo and told me that they have no way to block a product code.  Suggested I try an upgrade of BIOS or reload the operating system.  Have you the BIOS upgrade result has not changed.  Also updated the driver Intel Rapid Storage, but again no change on the system.  Read messages where that fixed similar symptoms).  Latest report of diag is the same as that posted here. Operation of the system with the exception of the issue with the message on non-genuine software and updates of Windows does not not error code 800706F7.  Looking for more information.

Update: 2/29/2015 KB3004394 was not as installed on this system.  I ran a system scan and it shows the following missing components. There are several entries in the CBS for the latter.  I have included only the first two entries in the newspaper here.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community forum.

According to the description of the problem, you can not install Windows updates and get a non-genuine mistake. As you have mentioned that this whole issue started since 15 December, so there might be a chance that some updates to move that could cause the problem.

The KB 3004394 which was dated December 10, 2014 update can cause additional problems on computers that run Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. This includes the inability to install future updates. This new update is available to remove KB 3004394 from your computer. Thus, there could be a chance that this update is installed on your computer that is causing the problem.

According to my research and findings that I got to know only after you have installed the Microsoft KB3004394 update that was released on December 10, 2014 and Microsoft has disabled since the relevant updates. Some systems also provided a Windows is "not authentic" error caused by the same update.

So try to remove this update of the updates installed, if it is installed and hide so that it can be installed in the future of its own. You can check the link below to complete the task.

    Remove an update

You can see the below mentioned steps to hide an update.

    1. Click on start.

    2. Now click on all programs.

    3. And then click Windows Update or Microsoft Update.

    4. Now, click on custom.

    5. Click to clear the check box next to the update KB3004394 .

  • Windows Update: Windows Updates configuration failure. Restoration of the changes

    Hello.

I bought a new Samsung ultrabook less than a month ago and about two weeks ago ir began to show the message "failure Configuring Windows Updates, recovery of the changes. I tried to do all the steps recommended in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949358/en-us here and none seem not to work. I even tried to do a system restore, but in the end, after I waited like an hour, he said that it was not possible, probably due to my anti-virus on. I tried to turn off the service and once again, only to get the same message.

    Can someone help me?

I read somewhere that if I copied some files zipped it and posted someone here would be able to see what's wrong, so here's the link: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=C5BF73CB1F708E99! 558 & authkey =! AHFOZMAVGf7ames&ithint=file%2c.rar

  • Statement Windows XP window 8 upgrade failure

Used Windows 8 Upgrade Wizard and it validated my current laptop Window XP Dell 400 would accept the 8 Pro upgrade window. I tried twice and failed twice. After the first failure, I rebuilt the rear PC to Window XP Service Pack 3. I then ran the validation program (I run the)
1st time) and he told me that the system should / could be upgraded. Again, I tried the upgrade and it failed. Window 8 CD pro started and appeared to accept the default settings. It appeared to load, but on reboot it comes to fail without giving a reason.  It is an older platform but has all the required hw spec, i.e. 4 mem Gig. 250 gig HD, processor 2 ghz. All of the suggestions. This could be due to a problem of CPU?

Boot from the DVD Windows 8
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 8 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

I have this problem whenever my micro sd card in my HP Envy X 2

There is no memory.dmp that exists in C:\windows

    SC

The two memory DMP is practically useless and corrupt. What ever driver crashes the system has a fatal error that crashes the system so fast is impossible to write the DMP file.  For this reason, I suggest you make sure that you are not infected, check the operating system (running SFC) and then run Driver Verifier to know which driver is wrong to behave.

    1. run Malwarebytes

Please download the free version of Malwarebytes.
    Update immediately. CA
Do a full scan of the system
Let us know the results at the end.

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/products

2 run a file system check

To run a check of the filesystem (CFS)

    Open a cmd high window

(Go to start > type CMD > right click and run as administrator)
    Type SFC/scannow
You may need to run this upward to 3 times.
Let us know the results at the end
    Run the driver verifier

    2. Driver Verifier
Using Driver Verifier is a dubious proposition. Most of the time it will crash and it will tell you what is the driver.

But sometimes it will crash and will not tell you the driver.
Sometimes it will crash until you can connect to Windows. If you can't mode without failure, then you will have to resort to editing the registry offline to disable driver verifier.
I suggest that you first back up your data and make sure you have access to another computer so you can contact us in case of problems.
Then do a system restore point (so you can restore the system using the functionality of Vista/Win7 Startup Repair).

    Here is the procedure:

Click Start and type "auditor" (without the quotes) and press enter

Select 'Create a custom settings (for code developers)' and click 'Next' (or Type "check/standard/all" (without the quotes) If you want to check each of them (this will slow down your computer))
Choose "Select custom settings from a full list" and click "Next".
Select the entire document except for "Low resource Simulation" to win 8 do not check concurrency stress test and the verification of the conformity of DDI, click "next".
Select "Select driver names from a list", then click "next".

Select all drivers that are NOT provided by Microsoft, and then click "Next".
On the next page, select "Finish".
Restart the system and wait as he crashed to blue screen.
Continue to use your system normally and if you know what are the causes of the crash, do it several times. The objective here is to get the system crash because Driver Verifier is stressing out the drivers. If it is not planted for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.
If you are unable to Windows because it crashes too early, try safe mode.
If you can't mode without fail, try to use the system from the installation DVD restore to bring the system back to the previous point of restoration that you created.

  • corrupted saved; window sizes plugin failure

    Hello

I come here after spending months trying to debug a problem with a few plugins Photoshop. Of course, at first, I assumed that the developer can help, but he got nowhere.

Here's the question: a year or more I used Pixel Genius inside Photoshop Sharpener. I needed to see the image behind their work display window, which if memory it serves about 900 wide and high of 350. So, I grabbed the handle in the lower right and resize the window so small that it would be somewhere around 200 x 120. (I guess these dimensions).

Apparently I forgot to re - maximize the window (though I'm not positive about that) before leaving PHotoshop.

On the next launch and move forward to today, I have this problem:

    1) tries to run all Pixel Genius products flashes just opening a window shrunk for about 1/2 second, filled with black and then it closes. The plugin does not work. (I took this screenshot of the screen as a sequence of screen recording: ) http://transfer.Pronet.link/transfers/screen-shot-2016-02-21-at-2.54.30-pm.PNG )

    (2) using the menu of Photoshop plugins do not appear on area on all products from Pixel Genius and a couple more now fail to show their mailboxes as well.

As I said, I tried valiently to get aid to the Pixel Genius to deal with this, but after having suggested that I start as a new user; Reinstall the software; deleting preferences and the usual stuff, they washed their hands, saying essentially: 'well, it's your problem.'

In fact, I'm a former programmer, so I'm pretty uncomfortable with computers, after working with Apple products full-time since 1978. I came to suspect that the window position and size of the plugins Photoshop is registered somewhere not trivial and probably hidden, I certainly can't find, even with the display invisible files.  Maybe it's a call from the Toolbox are provided by Adobe to developers of plug-ins, or perhaps Photoshop does so without intervention from the developer.

I can say that not only I created a new user; reinstalled Photoshop; remove all plugins and reinstalled the software Pixel Genius, I've tried everything I can think of to fix this... all to nothing done.

I suspect somehow it is just 'my problem' and would be surprised if someone here as seen this before. However, I - am - hoping that someone here can tell me where I could find the files that record the positions of the windows and size plugins, so that I can remove it and see if I can get my investment in - all - the Pixel Genius products works again. As it is now, I can run any of them, and the developer struck me.

Help and suggestions (which do not repeat what I have already tried without success) would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

I ended up asking online and got this:

    Tracy Valleau wrote:

The developer and Adobe have no idea what is happening.

The same 2 lines appear in the console on this event:

25/02/16 4:35:12.000 PM kernel [0]: tried to get items on an element with 4099 children

25/02/16 4:35:12.869 PM Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 [8896]:-[__NSCFString count]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x7fab2ecd65c0

"unrecognized selector" is a clear error message recognized by virtually all Objective-C developers. This means that the developer has tried to use a method that does not exist for the class. In this case specific code specifies the 'count' method that does not exist for NSString (frame) or CFStringRefs (base). Eventually, the developer intended to code the method 'length '. Regardless, it is clearly a problem of developer code and is probably more easily resolved.

If the developer and Adobe "have no idea what is happening", they need to take a closer look. Maybe the developer and Adobe disagree on who is responsible. One thing I know: failures like this cause other errors downstream, since what a correct 'count' function does not have it.
