Windows XP SP3 installation problem

I have a HP Media Center edition (2002) with Service Pack 2 of Windows currently installed.  Microsoft has stopped support for effective SP2 online July 13, 2010.  When I try to upgrade to SP3 using automatic downloads or by going to the site to update for Microsoft, the installation does not complete.  The error code that keeps dislplaying is the error Code: 0 x 80070002.  I tried to use the help on the Microsoft Web site to correct this, but it still does not work.  Any information on how to solve this problem?  Thank you

Try MSFixit for the problem, or do the steps manually according to your preference:

Just rename the file Catroot2 usually solves these issues, for me anyway. Restart and try again the file to network install of SP3.

  • Code error 0x7E - the file 'autorun.dll' could not be loaded or is damaged. Setup cannot continue. Windows 7 Upgrade installation problem

I tried to install Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade, 32-bit version. My current system is an Intel iMac (later), with Windows XP - SP3 loaded as a virtual machine with Parallels Desktop 4.0 build 3848 (according to their website, it is supposed to support Windows 7).

I allocated enough space RAM and HARD drive of the virtual machine to run Windows 7. No matter what I do, when I try to run setup.exe, I get the error message: "the file 'autorun.dll' could not be loaded or is corrupt. Setup cannot continue. Error code is [0x7E].

The file 'autorun.dll' is present on the disk.

I saw on the internet that other people have also had this problem, with or without Parallels Desktop, and get a replacement DVD of Windows 7 program made no difference to them. Nor is it an available answer, I've seen.

My Windows 7 disc is new, so I was hoping that Microsoft could solve the problem for me?

    Thank you.

OK, so, this response is a little late to come, but if you never solved...

I just encountered the same problem - editing similar (Mac, Parallels 5 in my case, the SP3 of XP, MS Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade) - you must make sure that the DVDROM drive hardware is mapped to "D:" on your XP installation. Thus on the Parallels Desktop menu go to devices, CD/DVD1 and make sure that all your actual DVD player is called is selected (should be the vertical entry in the menu) - not true CD/DVD. The reader should then start and auto run.
    I hope this helps...

  • Missing USB. The Windows XP SP3 Installation INF file

I had problems to install USB devices and after a long-term task and it narrowed the field down, I discovered why.

I don't have USB. INF file in my Windows/Inf directory.

Annoyingly, my setup is not an I386 directory, and my XP disks are stored in a box somewhere that I'm travelling right now.

I need to get a copy of the USB right. File INF for XP SP3 - I downloaded a couple, but they did not...

Anyone knows where I can get it online, or could send me a link or send me a copy?

    Thank you

    Matt

Try to get the smart-inf of your manufacturer of computers or the chip-maker (for example Intel)

If you do not lnow what chip you have Intel has routine to check the chip chip-inf

I have a similar problem, but still not resolved, apparently SP3 do not update or keep the inf files...

  • OfficeJet 6500 E709A on new HP Desktop Windows 8.1 installation problems

    Hello

I'm troubleshooting an issue on all new HP Envy Desktop from my father-in-law and its existing OfficeJet 6500 E709A.  It came with Windows pre-installed 8.0, and I ran Windows Update to apply all the necessary patches, which included the upgrade from PC to Windows 8.1.  His previous PC is a Dell Windows XP, but due to the end of LIFE of XP, he bought a new HP PC.  I had him download 64-bit Windows 8.1 for the printer on the HP site and it did not work properly.  I tried to uninstall using the uninstall on the HP support site and requiring a reboot.  We then tried to reinstall the software after the restart and he said that it was extracted files but did not say where they were extracted to.  The extract window goes away and then it's just sitting there and nothing else happened.  I also saw another method to install the printer through the computer to be scanned and then decide the best software and driver to use.  Who started working and then just sit there as well and did not finish.  I'm in and I normally don't have these types of issues, but for some reason any, that he's not well.  I also went to the Microsoft site to test hardware compatibility with Windows 8.0/8.1 and it said it was, but other people said that it is not based on their experiences.  I have tried everything I know and searched this forum and google for the answers and don't come up with anything.

    1. when the software is extraction, can you please tell me where this is extraction to (IE folder Temp, Windows, etc.)?

    2. the software and drivers are 10 22, 2012, is there new files that you can give?

3 is this fully certified by HP printer to run on Windows 8.0/8.1?

    4. is there anything else I can try?  I think I saw a troubleshooting step when you install from the CD and then download the updated Support files or windows.  I don't remember what OS files were on the CD.  Since it is in another State, I do it via webex with him to control and do what I tell you him to do, it complicates things.

Help, please!  This is frustrating me like him.

    Thank you

    Rob

    Hello

First, enter the installation folder and delete all current software that could be partially installed.

To access the installation folder, click R on your keyboard and the Windows logo keys. the Run dialog box is displayed.

Type %temp%, and then click OK.

Open the HP installation folder that begins with the characters in 7z, if there are several just open the most recent one.

Open the Util folder, then select the CCC folder and run the Uninstall_L3.bat file.

In the listed command line click on Enter and confirm a window of dialogue for the installation of multiple, don't forget to restart the PC once you will be prompted to do so.

Proceed as follows, in my view, it should solve the problem described:

1 open the Mcafee Virus and Spyware Protection software you are interested in, click on calendar and perform analyses. Click analysis in real time, and then click stop. Never select and confirm by clicking the button turn off.
    2. open the dialog box run by clicking on the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type %windir%, and then click OK.
    3. type hpoins*.dat in the search bar at top, if there is that no result rename the extention in old instead of dat. (e.g. hpoins1.old)
    4. type hpwins*.dat in the search bar at top, if there is that no result rename the extention in old instead of dat. (e.g. hpwins1.old)
    5. start the Run dialog box by clicking the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /Unregister. in the Run dialog box and click OK.
    6. launch the Run dialog box by clicking the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC/REGSERVER in the Run dialog box and click OK.
    7 restart your PC
    8. run the installation file and check all difference.
    9. Once you have finished, remember to open McAfee and re-enable real-time scanning.

    Kind regards
    Shlomi

    Hi stiucsib86,

Thanks for posting on the Forum of answers.

I am sure that you will have a clean install, if this isn't how you try.
According to the material, you may need to install a driver for the hard drive to be recognized.

If it is a computer that you created, you may want to check the documents provided with the device or check the manufacturers Web site, for more information about the installation of the player.

If there is a selection of pre-designed OEM computer programs, you have a disk that came with it with the drivers for the hard disk.

Please let us know if that helps.
