Windows XP unknown password request blocking me startup

Today, when I went to start my computer, I was asked for a password before Windows (Windows XP Home Edition) came.  I've never used a password and this computer it not used by someone else.  I can't do it.  Any advice on how to get rid of the password?  What is the result of a virus?

Thank you, everyone, for your help.  I actually did a full system recovery, that solved the problem.  I think it was a virus and found that it was the best course of action to clean up.

    network/security problem

I have a problem connecting to the internet. A windows security message appears requesting a user name and password. I spoke with my internet provider and they say it's problems with windows. Administering the computer was an old laptop that isn't in use anymore so I can't change the admin settings. Is that what you can offer and do you need more information about me?

How you connect to the internet, dsl / comcast / wireless.

The installation disk of your ISP to the main computer, then put it to the top with a modem what ever, after that you can reload the disc of routers and probably have to reset the default password,

Once you get the configuration of your Internet service provider again then your router again you can re - enter the wireless or wired computers to the new network,

  • the registry editor is STILL blocked at startup

    Dear team of Microsoft answers,

After Marilyn link (which I had already gone before first assignment), I always have problems.
Regedit.exe is blocked at startup. It does not automatically start even if it is supposed to in windows defender. I don't want to disable or remove it from startup. Just that it runs automatically at startup I want without me clicking on it to run in the taskbar. I'm also quite capable of editing the registry entries. So if there is an incorrect entry could you tell me where to find it.
Thanks in advance for your help

    camo sandals,

The registry editor is not set to run at startup as a clarification. It is an interface that allows you to edit the keys that specify the features and settings of the programs and services within Windows. Is it possible you're referring to another service or function? Also can give you details on what your experience with Windows Defender? To change the allowed items and their settings in Windows Defender:
Click Start -> in the Search box, type Windows Defender, click the program in the list to open it.
In the window of Windows Defender, click on Tools. Here you have hosted elements options so that you can view the software you chose for Windows Defender no monitor and browser software so that you can view and change tracking software. Please provide us more details with your request so that we can help you.

  • How do I know my Windows Google Chrome password?

    Hello

I had to change a couple of "remember passwords" in Google Chrome. When I tried to remove/change the Google asked me to enter my Windows password (the one I use to connect to the computer). How does she know this password, sign in please?

He doesn't know, he uses the Microsoft API to authenticate you.  Google never sees, checks or authenticates the password.  It simply calls the standard elevation prompt.

For example, it is the same as when you right-click on a program and choose "Run as Administrator" and get password requested.  The program that you are running never knows or sees your password.

  • Cannot connect on Windows, asking a password that has never been

I never wanted a password in my PC.  Starting this week, I have a password that I never ask. Now, I can't do anything in the PC without the password I've ever had.  This is the case, try to get the icon of ESPN.  Microsoft Windows asks a password now in order to do the things I've done without it.  I can't stop my PC because it asks for a password when he wakes.  The Colombian who responded (paid) could not fix it and I'm stuck with it.  Need to take it to someone who really knows how to clean all passwords unless you help me...

    Hi Lourdes,

Thanks for posting your query to the Microsoft community. Sorry for the delay in responding. What version of the Windows operating system is installed? It's Windows Vista, Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or Windows 10? How many accounts user are there in the computer? What was any recent change in hardware or software on the computer?

  • Log on to Windows XP Professional password help

I got a desktop computer and it has 4 accounts log and after contacting the owner before me they know not the log on password or user name, all I get is blue screen and the log on the Windows, even in safe mode, I still get the log on window who want the password and user name I do not have that, someone can help me to go beyond that, I don't have a boot disk, OS is windows xp professional, I looked for help on the web but all the things I've found tells me to click on the start menu, I can't get there, I can not for anything but the blue screen and the log on window wanting the password and user name , Oh, I can get a use F2, F8 and F12

Try to connect using the built-in Administrator account. You don't need to do it in safe mode (although you can if you wish). If your normal login screen is a display of the user symbol and hit ctrl-alt-del twice to get to login to text entry. Type administrator as the user name and try a blank password.

In addition, this forum has a policy that requires us to refuse assistance with password "cracking".

That said, the last resort of reinstalling the operating system is something I would recommend to your situation. Who knows what kind of environment you might encounter if you can open a session? Software of Dodgy or pirated, malware, viruses etc. In addition, your hard drive may be full of useless data, including the possibility of illegal images. Must I say more? I see you say that you have no boot disk (I take it's Windows installation CD), but a repair shop may be able to do the replacement for you. Get a recommendation for a repair shop if you can.

It is also possible that he has built in installation of recovery/re-uninstall. To learn more about this opportunity, we will need the brand and model of your PC.
