Method 1: Rename the Edb.log file rename the Edb.log file, and then try again to install the program. To rename the Edb.log file, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click run, type cmd in the Open box, and then OK.

Important Do not rename the folder C:\windows\system32\catroot. The Catroot2 folder is automatically recreated by Windows, but the C:\windows\system32\catroot folder is not recreated if is renamed the folder C:\windows\system32\catroot.

  My wifes laptop (Toshiba Satellite A200-AH6 has this code error and 10 updates saved. I read somewhere on the forums to try the update of Vista with the Office CD in the drive. We have Office 2003 and Publisher 2007. 3 both of these disks in the drive. Still not make updates.

  This has been a problem persisting for months, I'd appreciate some instructions on how I can make the updates or to identify what I'm doing wrong... (other than not to buy a macbook)

  Cause
  This problem can occur for different reasons. However, the following reasons are the most common:
