WIP330 in Greece

Dear friends,

I live in Athens, Greece, and I intend to buy a Linksys WIP330 WiFi Phone.

However, there are certain rumors here in Greece that the Linksys WIP330 Wi - Fi phone does not work with Greek VoIP SIP service providers. I have an account with Omnivoice, a Greek VoIP SIP telephony provider and, as this model is still widely available on the Greek market, and I intend to get one, I decided to write you this mail to find out, before buying, if there is some truth in all these widely spreading rumours on here or there are just nothing but absolute nonsense.

So, I would be very grateful if someone of you, who are to experience with the possible use of this particular model of phone Wi - Fi in Greece, could give an answer honest, sincere and reliable for me on this topic so that I won't end up bitterly disappointed because it doesn't work and I lost my money.

If you can, however, indeed work, are there special settings I have to insert to ensure that they work correctly providing the best possible voice quality?

I would appreciate a quick response.

Best greetings from Greece!

doross4u

Take a look at this website which covers in exhausting detail everything that you could want to know about this phone. The WIP330 only requires standard SIP and wireless network settings and there is nothing to what a normally configured VOIP provider would reject.

However, if the VOIP provider that you concern requires a weird standard setting or not then it might not work, but that would be true for any other IP phone wireless.

I bought the laptop from USA and I led her to the Greece, but when I try to log in I hear the dial tone, but the is not able to have the tone. I identify the location for the Greece.

    I have windows vista.
In the laptop manual writes only: connect the built in modem only telephone lines analog ordinary not online (PBX) or digital (ISDN)

My line is to the PSTN of OTE. Someone help me?

    Hello

Unfortunately I have m no expert on this subject, but according to an article in Internet the PSTN Public Switched Telephone Network is an old international telephone system, that supports analog transmission via copper cable.

I think that the modem should work.
First, you must remove the modem driver and remove the modem region Select profile.
Then download the driver of modem for the Greece and create and configure the new profile in the utility region modem selection.
That I me remember this utility is located in the folder Toshiba-> network-> Modem region select.

    Good luck

  • 32BV502B does not support MPEG-4 in Greece?

    Hi all,

I bought a Toshiba model 32BV502B when I was in London.
I red some reviews before buying it and I saw that this model is compatible with MPEG 4.

While in London he used to play all local television stations. I send this TV to the Greece and it does not support local TV stations. There is a screen 'video format only is not supported"message or something like that.

I downloaded the latest version of the firmware on the TV but still nothing changes.

Do you know if there is another way to solve this problem.
I would avoid a codec mpeg4 with additional devices, remote controls etc.

    Thank you

    > I red some reviews before buying it and I saw that this model is compatible with MPEG 4.

I found the specs of the TV:
    http://www.Toshiba.co.UK/television/LCD/BV/32-bv502-high-definition-LCD-TV/

The TV supports a resolution of 1366 x 768 and its equipped with an analog and DVB - T tuner
The TV standards supported are: PAL BG/I/DK, SECAM BG/DK/L BG of NTSC 4.43

I put t know exactly what you mean by mpeg-4 support, but always is there that you can use the internal tuner: DVB - T and analog to receive TV signals. If you are not able to use the built-in tuner, you will need to connect an external set-top box to the TV.

By the way: you must always reset the settings of the TV after a firmware update and should choose the right country settings.

  • Toshiba and warranty in GREECE issues service

    December 18, 2012, I put a PORTABLE Toshiba (Satellite L650-11 t / Core3 - 350 M / 3GB / 320/15.6 Serial: 8A344513Q) for the Department of service because one of the keys on the keyboard has been dislodged.

Upon delivery of the product the receptionist on the duty to inform me that usually costs Toshiba problems because that do recognize them not as guarantee do not accept these default values.

When I buy the product and all the products of Toshiba (Lap Tops) that I got a 4-year warranty and to be more precise in the past with the same problem, the company change the keyboard without charging to understand this warranty fill the problem.

Today, I was informed by the service that I have to pay 30 euros to change the keyboard because they do not accept the products guarantee complete the terms of something which I believe is unacceptable.

If the customer creates problems on the keyboard there is a problem in several buttons not only for a button to be dislodged.

The customer perception is unfair and against the warranty policy that Toshiba has sell the product.

I try to contact TOSHIBA in Greece, but I try to talk with someone who has the power to give me more info finally the receptionist told me she was the only person.

When I ask the depto service send me a written response on the perception, I was informed that there want it send me the warranty rules something is rediculus.
As a customer why I not be informed that the company did not accept the default and they hiden under the General rules?

Really I thing in the offices of Toshiba of Greece are the only empty spaces and the after sales service is an empty room.

I'm sory but after so many years as a Toshiba user I get these responses and treated like this.

    Hello

In my personal opinion if the warranty is valid and you have a hardware problem with your laptop, then this should be corrected for free

I hope that someone would be able to help you

  • Portégé R500-10U purchase in Greece and 3g module

    Hello
I bought the toshiba R500 Portégé R500-10U of Athens Greece for about 3.500euros.

It's retail price currently in stores, that means 5 379,36 dollars, the same model in the States 3.000.00 costs.
Of course, I understand that there are differences in exchange rates, but is this normal difference is $ 2400?
Is this normal? Because I'm ugly towards this situation.

Distributors are checked for the quality of toshiba?
I wonder also since I paid $ 5,379.36 for this fantastic laptop is it possible to improve it with built-in 3G mobile?

    Thank you very much

  • Helps the Greece!

I'll preface this by saying that I'm not a tech guy.

I just moved to Crete, Greece for my wife's work. In the travel process, we have lost a bag of laptog containing my usb cable for the loading of music, software/firmware cd that came with my Sansa e280 and of course my most old laptop and hard drive with all my music and video from the last three years on this subject. It blows a little bit. All I have is my player and charger now, and I have a few questions.

-Can I use the usb cable supplied with the charger to plug into the usb on my other laptop to load music? Currently I'm plugged into the wall, and for some reason when I plug it it says that there is too much to be able to go to him, but I guess that after we get a transformer that will cure it.

-My player is fully loaded with music. Is it possible to copy music out on my other laptop? I am aware that I need to install the software that came with him to do anything, but I'm unable to download location. I'm on a little Asus netbook that doesn't have a cd player, so the download is my only option.

    Any help would be appreciated.

1-power in Greece is 220v. US power is 110V. DO NOT plug anything the United States of AMERICA except if you have a transformer. Your best bet is to buy stuff from 220v, processors use a lot of power, simply by changing the 110v. Your stuff will wear faster on a transformer, even with a good surge protector.

-MORE USA power is 60 Hz, and most of the other countries are running 50 Hz. Our microwave USA did not still in Germany. A plug in clock radio will run slow 10 minutes / hour. Your TV etc... The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia will be there faster than buying just the 220v stuff.

2 - If the cable you speak is designed only for the Sansa, it will seek to plug it into your computer. IF it was for iPod, DO NOT USE IT ON A SANSA, it will RUIN the Sansa!

    3. you should be able to copy music from the Sansa to a PC IF it was transferred with MSC mode. If it is via MTP mode you can probably do it, but it will be more complicated. (= The Sansa MSC mode it's a disc hard when it is plugged into a PC. MTP mode more like the 'ipod' mode so you can use the copy-protected (DRM) files. I NEVER use MTP mode. It blows).

    4. you will not need any software to transfer music or mode: the Netbook will need Windows Media Player 10 or newer (go to microsoft.com to download) to MTP mode. Nothing is required for the MSC mode, if you have Windows XP on this netbook.  (If you have linux it will be a bit more complicated).

  • WIP330 - What's up with this phone?

I just got the phone SIP Linksys Wireless G (WIP330). I was intending to use this phone for our new Asterisk based IP telephony system. Setting in the phone service was child's play, but there are weird things on this phone that make it almost unusable for anything other than her overhaul.

    Problem - a voicemail

There is a section voicemail under phone settings where you can enter the phone number to your voice mail. Very well, very well. For once I enter my voicemail number, how to retrieve my voicemail? There is nothing in the documentation or in the phone settings that says how we are supposed to retrieve voice mail, once we enter this number. Shouldn't there be a big friendly button somewhere marked voicemail?

BTW, the documentation of Linksys says this about voicemail, "to learn how to check your voicemail, call your service provider internet phone! You have to be kidding me?

Problem 2 - No touch tone.

Since I can't find a button or anywhere speed dial to call my voicemail number. I entered in manually and called it. The problem is, I have to be able to conclude the numbers on the keyboard to access the features of voicemail. If I enter numbers in the keyboard, a separate window will appear showing the numbers, but there is no beep button so that the menu of automated voicemail can 'hear' my selections. I guess this new window is line 2 try to accept another outgoing call.

These two questions are a deal breaker real for this phone. Here are a few other minor problems that I could live with if this phone solved the above problems.

    • Strange button above the buttons volume control that does absolutely nothing! Are you kidding me?
    • Micro browser. I don't see how this would have no practical use whatsoever. Unless you went to a Web site that has been optimized for the small screen on the phone, it is useless to you try to display a normal Web page.
    • The maximum ringer very quiet. I admit there is a vibration function, but it would be nice to have a ring loud and clear (customizable ringtones would be a plus also)
    • Update website link is broken. www.WIP330.com does not yet exist. Give me a break!

This phone really has great potential. It seems to be well built. The screen is bright and easy to use. Dial numbers is easy and receive calls works fine. I like options blind for the transfer, transfer, etc.. But the issues mentioned above will stop me buying more of these phones for my company.

I thought about it. I watched the Asterisk CLI to find errors and when I composed 770 (my voicemail extension) it prompted me to an extension. I entered my extension number, followed by the pound sign. I could see in the output from the CLI, what she actually accepted my extension and then waiting for the password, but for some reason that the automatic reception never says "password". So, basically, you do not hear the password. I'll have to put spaces in the password prompt and see if that helps.

Anyway, thanks the help of all the world. This phone can be useful after all.
