wired devices is more capable of connecting to time capsule

Wired devices connected to the time capsule apple are assigned is no longer an ip address and not able to connect to the internet. Always wireless devices connect very well without any problems.

Gites assign addresses IP not work

The capsule is connected via PPPoE modem of fibre broadband BT openreach

Any ideas?

Wireless devices get the private IP address of the TC... Please check.

for example... the TC in standard configuration as a router will use 10.0.1.x for the first device is 10.0.1.2

The values of the gateway and DNS will be 10.0.1.1 on the laptop... check and report what are the numbers.

On the ethernet connected machine... see if you get anything... Otherwise, set an IP address static, for example 10.0.1.201 with gateway of 10.0.1.1 and the same DNS... Does it work... If this is not the case, change the Google public DNS. 8.8.8.8

It might also help to post some screenshots of the configuration of the TC if you still have questions... tab tab and internet network more summary page.

  • How to connect my Time Capsule to a WiFi network?

Happily, I use a Time Capsule for years as a WiFi router connected as a bridge to the router provided by my supplier.

Now, I'm moving to a place where internet is already provided by an access point in my new apartment and included in the monthly cost of the facilities in this village. The access point is hidden behind the ceiling of my apartment and doesn't have any port ethernet except the one used to get the internet. WiFi which will be available for me is configured by an administrator with the name of my apartment.

My internet needs TC that the ethernet source and I wonder what I could do to work around this problem. I don't see any option in the settings of TC to connect to an existing WiFi.

While waiting to move to the new apartment, I did a test by trying to create a scenario similar to the House, for example by using the wifi router of my provider to create a wifi network, then using an extension of WiFi that is connected to A WiFi network and connect my TC via ethernet connected on WiFi extender set up my TC as a bridge and the creation of a WiFi B with my TC that I can use with my devices. It works fine, but I wonder if there is something I'm missing or a better solution or possible issues related to this configuration.

In a Word, nothing. The TC must connect to a network by using a wired Ethernet cable connection. The only exception to this would be a Workbench where you already have a router Apple providing a wireless signal, in which case the TC can connect wireless to "extend" the network.

This is how the TC must be connected to the network of the apartment. If your extension does not work with the network of the apartment, an AirPort Express could be used to 'join' the network wireless of the apartment, and then provide an Ethernet connection to the Treasury Board.

  • What is the best way to connect a time capsule from the airport to an existing dsl router?

I have a Netgear D6300 router with built-in ADSL modem and I'm getting a time capsule from the airport. I thought to put the D6300 in Bridge mode and connect the TC via a ethernet cable but my netgear router is kept in a metal TV armoire or I asked myself if I put on the floor and used to extend my existing wireless which is a little spotty on the floor, but I didn't know if the connection on the hard drive would be too slow. However I read in another post is no longer that apple supports the extension of networks of "no apple"?

The time Capsule will connect to the Netgear router using a wired Ethernet cable connection, permanent... no matter how you decide to configure things.

Regarding the location, Time Capsule can be located just about anywhere that it will allow an Ethernet connection. If you want to time Capsule to "extend" the wireless Netgear, and then configure the time Capsule to create a new wireless network that uses the exact same wireless network name and password than the Netgear router. The result will be a network of 'big '.

Should be a lot more work, but assuming that the Netgear gateway can be configured to work as only a simple modem, the Capsule can be configured as the primary network router.

  • How to configure a printer wireless connected to Time Capsule?

I just bought a printer HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M577z MFP Flow. It has capabilities of wireless printing. So far, I was able to connect wirelessly to one of my MacBook Pro computers, but only by having the printer create an Ad - hoc network that allows up to 5 devices to connect to the printer. But that of not what I want because every computer should manually disconnect the Wi - Fi network, connect to the Ad hoc network, the print job and then reconnect to the Wi - Fi network whenever a print job is required. It is very difficult and frustrating.

What I would like is striking is the printer act like a network printer by wireless connection to my Time Capsule. I can't connect the printer to the USB port of time Capsule because they are far away from each other, and I don't want to use cables throughout my place. But I have no idea on how to do it because I can't find this option in the menu of the writer or configuration of the United Nations the HP utility software.

I hope someone here could help me, please. Thank you!

I have an Epson printer, so some of my experiences may or may not apply.

I also have a time Capsule, and my printer and Time Capsule are far apart.

My current configuration looks exactly what you are looking for: a wireless network provided by Time Capsule than all my Apple devices to a wireless connection, and my printer connects to the same wireless network.

When I first bought the Epson printer, I needed to connect it to the Capsule of time via a USB port.  This sounds as if it were true for you as well.  So, for this very short period. I moved the printer via the USB port next to the printer, the connected Time Capsule, made the setup and then the printer recognized my standard wireless network.  I've returned to steady state, which I use now, with the printer and the far (actually on different floors) Time Capsule.

  • New modem cannot connect to Time Capsule

Xfinity gave me a new gateway wireless modem/router a few weeks ago.  I hung it just as the former with a cable to the Capsule of time (not wireless).  Since then, my MacBook Pro (OS X Yosemite 10.10.5) can not find the TC and said "backup drive is not available."  Meanwhile, the TC has a flashing orange light.  I rebooted everything more than once.  The time on my Mac says Machine I have not backed up since 15 February, but when I go into "Time Machine", it looks like there were multiple regular backups since then (I'm skeptical).  User support Comcast tinkered around for an hour and he couldn't understand.  Another suit tech support tried for another hour and could not make any progress.  How can I make it work again?

You MUST reset the TC factory and start over... This happens whenever you make a network change and there is no change in larger network than what you were doing... to replace the router.

Here are the instructions to get going again. It is a comprehensive so that your needs can be met with just a couple of them.

Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the drive hard in doing so.

    Universal factory reset

Turning off the TC... That is, remove the power supply cord or the power at the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds... Hold the reset button... be nice... Turn on always even now in reset... and keep holding in for another 10 seconds. You may need assistance because it is difficult to hold in reset and power on. It will show the success quickly flashing led front. Release reset... and wait a few minutes for the TC to reset and return with the factory settings. If the front LED flashes quickly you missed and simply try again. The reset is quite fragile in these... Press the key while it is just click away and not more... I've seen people bend lever or even break. I use a toothpick as a tool.

NB. None of your files on the hard drive of the TC are removed... This simply clears the settings of the router of the TC.

    The installer the TC.

And then redo the configuration of the computer with the Mavericks - Yosemite - ElCapo. (MYELCAP)

    1. the use of very short names... NO APPLE RECOMMENDED names. Without the space and pure alphanumeric characters.

for example TCgen5 for the base station and the name of the TCwifi wireless.

If the problem is using wireless TC24ghz and TC5ghz with fixed channels as it also seems to help stop the nonsense. But it can be tried in the second round. IE, plan on a first and second series of changes to fix this... If all goes well... I note other steps can you tour2.

    2. use all passwords also consistent with 1. but maybe a little longer. IE 8 and 20 characters of mixed cases and numbers... no alphanumeric non-caracteres.

    3. If the TC is router, you can ignore this point. It is only a problem when the TC is bridged.

If ensure that the TC is always the same IP address... you will need to do this on the main router using a dhcp reservation... or a bit more complex setup by using the static IP address in the TC. But it's important for deriving from intellectual property in all directions when MYELCAP do not remember his name for 5 min after a reboot done for poor network management.

    4. check that your share on the computer name does not change... Make sure that it is also in line with the above... short without space and pure alphanumeric... but this change will mess up your TM backup... so be prepared to make a new, full backup. Sorry... keep this one for the second round, if you want to avoid a new backup.

5 attach the TC disc into the computer manually.

In Finder, go, connect to the server in the main menu,

Type in SMB://192.168.0.254 (or whatever ip of TC is that you made static. It's a default router 10.0.1.1 and I encourage people to stick with it unless you know what you're doing).

You can use the name... SMB://TCgen5.local where you replace TCgen5 with your name of TC... local is the default domain of the TC and does not change.

However the names are not so easy as... the IP address nor reliable. They are not at least not in Yosemite. The field can also be a problem if you are not clogged or wireless directly to the Treasury Board.

    6. ensure that IPv6 is set to link-local only in the computer. For example wireless open network, wireless and Advanced preferences / TCP/IP... and the difficulty of IPv6. link-local only. Do the same for the ethernet if you use it.

It is a lot more jiggery pokery, you can try, but the above is a good start... If you still find not reliable... don't be surprised.

You may need to do more work on the computer itself. for example, to reset the NVRAM/PRAM/SMC... helped some people. A clean installation of the operating system is also useful if you update installed.

Let us know how you go.

The xfinity is a modem router then the TC will be in bridge.

If you continue to have problems, I need a few screenshots of the configuration... that should correspond to what I posted.

  • New connection airport Time Capsule with others

Quick question I have a new airport Time Capsule. I'm trying to connect my 2 extremes of 2 airport with the new unit. They are in 2 different places in the House, I see them in my utility, but they're more connected... Lost... Help?

Are you using ethernet to connect or wireless extend?

When you installed the TC you replace an existing router that used EI or did you do a clean install?

If you want to extend wireless simply reset the two AE at the factory and start on with installation... they should auto select this option to expand the TC in wireless... but you must start with them the two reset otherwise it will mess up the network.

  • iMac causes the connection to Time Capsule Internet to lock up

Whenever my iMac wakes up and connects to my Time Capsule via a Wi - fi, internet connection the TC freezes immediately for all connected devices, including the iMac.  I first noticed the issue on the iMac where internet was not accessible through any application on the system.  Then I went to my MacBook Pro, I found the same problem from happening.  Even on my iPhone and iPad.  I assumed it was an ISP issue and abandoned.

A few hours later, I went back to my MBP and found the internet connection has been re-established and working properly.  I then went back and woke to my iMac and open Safari.  The field of the internet to a halt.  Back on my MBP connection was suspended again.  Now I think that my iMac was the problem, I turned off wifi on the iMac, and the page that I tried to load it on my MBP immediately came.

Then I tried don't start the iMac in Mode safe mode to see if I could eliminate the problem... no chance.  Even in safe mode, when it is connected to on the wifi time capsule, the internet connection for the entire House grinds to stop.

So, to summarize, when my iMac is awake and connected to my Time Capsule via wifi, internet connection for all devices connected to this wifi network hangs up completely.  The moment I turn off wifi on the iMac, the internet connection is restored immediately at full speed for all other devices on the network.

I'm at a total loss about what to do next... any ideas?

Please start the iMac in recovery mode. To connect to the network. The same thing happens?

  • Unable to connect to WD Mybook Duo when it is connected to Time Capsule

I have a new Western Digital MyBook Duo 4 (2 TB per disk) to I want to access any of the three Macs in the House.

Every Mac use the Wifi in my Time Capsule airport station. My book Duo is plugged into the USB jack on the back that is provided for external hard drives.

However, all Macs you will see the Duo MyBook, none can use it.

Info: Every Mac running El Capitan.   The Time Capsule and MyBook Duo running the latest firmware.

In the Finder, every Mac can see the airport Time Capsule, under 'Shared' in the left pane. By clicking on it, each Mac can see the time Capsule HARD internal disk and external HDD my book Duo. When I click on it, I get the same darn message each time: "the operation cannot be performed because the original for"My Book Duo"item could not be found."

If I connect the MyBook Duo directly to the USB port on any Mac, everything works fine. But this isn't the way I want to connect.

The most convenient airport Time Capsule is supposed to effectively (via its USB port) allows you to have an external HDD on a network, and that's how I want to use my book Duo.

    Can someone help, please?

    Hello

Did you do the drives MyBook Duo are in the right format? It must be formatted in HFS + (also known as Mac OS extended (journaled).

    Hope this helps, good luck!

  • Password protect an external hard drive connected to Time Capsule

I have a WD passport external hard drive connected to my time capsule, so my wife and I can easily share files. I have the external hard drive connected through the locked time capsules WiFi network so someone in the House can not access however if they walked the time capsule and not plugged in the external hard drive they could walk away with it. When I try to password protect external hard drive then time capsule may not recognise, and so I can't use it as an external hard drive that is shared. No one knows how, to password protect the external hard drive connected to the time capsule as if someone physically stole the external hard drive it would be locked, but have yet still recognizable by Time Capsule when I plugged?

    Hope that makes sense.

The only way to do is to encrypt the files on the computer.

And you both use the same password. Unfortunately, this probably means that you can not share files directly... The TC is not a SIN... never, it was designed for this purpose so there no controls to help admin file sharing.

If you create a DMG file on WD drive that encrypt you and you can copy files to and from... but only one at a time.

Another method would be to use a specific software... Watch chronosync.

    http://www.econtechnologies.com/Chronosync/guide-sync-with-disk-image.html

I don't him have not run in this configuration... so, you have to experiment if it manages what you want.

I think that there will always be limitations on concurrent access from multiple computers.

  • Use WAN connected airport Time Capsule as a wireless access point

I had to replace a failed 4 Gen Time Capsule. I tried to install a new Gen 5 airport TimeCapsule via WAN and set up the airport to act as a wireless access point. It is installed in an area of my house with wireless coverage. In the network of AirPort Utility Mode section, I chose "extend a wireless network. The TC is restarted, I get an error message cannot find the intended wireless network.

    What I lack?

"Extend a wireless network" is a parameter that is only used if the time Capsule need to connect to another router from Apple with the help of a Wi-Fi connection.

You use Ethernet to connect, you must use the parameter to "create a wireless network. Use the same wireless network name and the same password as your "primary" router

  • Can I connect airport time capsule on UPS?

I have a time capsule airport with 3TO.     Because of frequent failure, I want connect to UPS supply.   My UPS has a transfer time of 10 ms to transfer power on battery power during a power failure.     This glitch is acceptable for the time capsule.   I'm worried about the hard drive in the time capsule.

I've never had any problem at all with a UPS in 5 years with a time Capsule, and we have electricity here maybe 5 - 6 times per year due to thunderstorms.

  • Windows 7 does not connect to Time Capsule

I have 2 computers connected to Apple's Time Capsule.  I have the HP laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with all updates trendy top of x 64 and it is able to connect to the Wi - Fi router part and connect to the part of the external hard drive to a hard drive wireless to save.  I was able to do this with Norton 360 installed and running in the background and with it uninstalled the system and had no problems.

I have a MacBook Pro that has Mac OS X 10.6.4 with all updates and Windows 7 on a partition separated with all updates.  On the side of Mac OS X can connect to the internet through wireless using Time Capsule can be accessed on the side of Time Capsule hard drive and use it as an external hard drive wireless for the back upward.  Windows 7 can only use Time Capsule to connect to wireless internet, but it won't find the game hard drive so I can use it as an external hard drive wireless for the back upward.  I tried this with uninstalled Norton 360 and Norton 360 running in the background.  I noticed that whenever I try and log in to the side of the Time Capsule hard drive Windows 7, it tells me:

    Of airPort Base Station Agent

Could not connect to the drive. Make sure NetBIOS is turned on, and then try again (53).

Time Capsule has all the updates that he needs and I can't make it work.  This has something to do with me not being is not able to connect to a system running Windows 7 and the other using Vista not being able to connect through a home network to connect to each other to share files.

    How can I fix it
