Wireless with Satellite A210-12U

I use a BT Home Hub and I can connect to the internet OK, but it seems to drop the connection after a certain time, even though it shows receives a good signal and shows as connected.
I restart and try again.
Very annoying

Hi John

The statement helped Microsoft Feedback would be appreciated.

Another tip:
In addition, you can check if the new WLan driver update might help!

  • Satellite A210-12U - no lights come on or anything like that

I have a Satellite A210-12U who died on me. I wasn't doing anything special, just posting on a bulletin board, one just like this and the power died, almost as a power cut, without warning. It was plugged in at the time. And now it is completely dead, no light doesn't come on or anything like that. Power cord is fine, just like the battery because the two work very well on my L500-11N. I tried out the battery and the power cord, hold the power button for more than 30 seconds and the replacement, but he's still dead. Is there some sort of internal fuse?

I thought it might be some sort of internal fuse, but have no idea if she has one, it is unlikely, if yes, can I change myself, and where can I find?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Buddy,

I had a similar problem last year and I did the following steps:

-Disconnect the battery and the AC adapter
-Wait at least an hour or over night for example
-Reconnect the two (battery and AC/DC adapter)
    -Try to start the laptop

If that doesn t work, this seems to be a malfunction of the equipment. Maybe the card mother, AC/DC adapter or something else

  • Satellite A210 - 12U Slot memory failed

    Hi all

I have a Satellite A210-12U, currently had a BSOD, then finally PC would not boot at all, I managed to get it working again by removing one on the RAM bars, since I tried to install 2 sticks of RAM in various cobinations I thought that one of it was defective, it seems that both work very well , But when I put one of the in the top slot, the laptop does not start at all, not even the BIOs boot.

I guess that means that the slot memory has failed, my question is, can it be replaced? As there is no big, if not is there the 4 GB memory sticks available as I still want to upgrad.

    Thanks in advance

    Creeky

Looks like the slot is defective, or it could just be dirty. You can clean the slots using electrical cleaner from an electronics store. Do not use water or other liquids as you can the motherboard and cause damage.

I guess you could get a Service centre to resolder the connector memory, but it can be cheaper or easier to just buy another motherboard.

I doubt that laptop can take Modules to 4 GB RAM, 2 x 2 GB may be your only option.

But remember that 32-bit operating systems are limited to 3 GB, and you would need 64-bit Vista to take advantage of all of 4 GB.

PS. use Memtest (bootable CD or FD) at www.memtest.org to test RAM.

  • Satellite A210-12U - DVD RW drive will recognize the DVD but no CD

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite of 4 years (model: A210-12U) that I recently restored using the recovery CD - it running Vista SP2.

Please bear with me as this may be an ish story, but it helps to explain my problem.
Around a year ago, a virus has made its way onto my laptop and almost destroyed the BONE - I consider myself to be fairly knowledgeable software-wise after studying at the College and began the long process of trying to resolve my laptop without using the recovery CD.

It was a patch job, but after a month or two, I had it works again and it was fine for a period of a few months or so, before, I noticed that my DVD RW drive would no longer read or burn CDs. I spent hours trawling internet forums to help without a bit of luck and was eventually convinced that it was a hardware problem.

As I needed to use a CD burner, my cousin gave me his DVD - RW USB drive and it did not work, which means that the logic suggested that it wasn't a physical problem with the drive, rather that it was most likely a problem with the registry/OS. It was not surprising given that I had done a basic work patch following the infection by the virus a few months earlier.

After becoming more and more frustrated with my laptop in general, I backed up my data on a portable hard drive and used the recovery CD that came with my laptop. The laptop started the CD when he was outside of the OS (according to the instructions that came with it) and restored all of the computer to its original state (and solve many of the problems that have been caused by the virus in the process).

I have spent the last week re - install programs, the copy of backdata etc. and was trying to install a software on a CD today, when I noticed that the laptop had difficulties to access the disk. Explorer Windows knows that the drive is there; It is listed in 'My Computer' and will also be the small CD icon alongside the pointer when it tries to load the CD - suggesting that he knows that there is a CD in there.

However, the drive will still read DVD that suggests, it could be a physical problem with the drive itself (I read somewhere on the laser need to change its angle accordingly during playback of CDs and DVDs). I have a question though, what the computer was able to read the recovery CD when I was being a complete restoration (and that she felt the same difficulties of CD playback in Windows before restoration).

I tried all the suggested methods in similar posts on this forum - Microsoft Fix It, uninstall the drivers etc nothing helps... So yes, I am a little confused and wonder if anyone can help?

The DVD RW drive is listed in Device Manager as HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA Device.

    Thank you
    Ben

    Hi Ben

In my opinion, this is material junk. You're right about the position of the objective. It needs to be calibrated for CDs and DVDs. If the optical disc drive cannot read one of these media in general, it can be problem of lens calibration.

To be honest sides for this old A210 are cheap and more. I advise you to buy a new or used one on eBay. Exchange and test functionality.
To be honest I don't believe there is a trick that can help you get it working again.

  • Re: Satellite A210-12U: Mat * a DVD - RAM UJ-8505 will not read discs - error Code 39

    Hello.

I've had my A210-12U for about five months now, and recently for the past few months I had some problems with the dvd player.

The thing is that the player will not play all discs, the drive will detect that a disc has been inserted, but it will not read. It happened for about a month but its only recently I really know whats been wrong with it.

The drive I currently use is a CARPET * A DVD - RAM UJ-8505 ATA

I scanned the disk for problems with the support toshiba but utility that came with something so I decided to check the drivers.

Windows Vista gave this Message: Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

I uninstalled the drivers and drivers on there and installed new ones that I downloaded here on the toshiba site.

What I really want to know is: is this a problem with the drivers? is it a case that the operating system does not detect the hardware? or is this a situation where I should have the disk fixed on its guarantee?

    was soon Dan

    Hello

Don t worry buddy I put t think that it s a hardware problem. It looks like a corrupted registry entry and it should be solved easily

Completely remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    and restart the laptop

  • Error message: "Shared desktop" with Satellite A210-103

    Hi guys!

First... Sorry for my bad English :-)

I have a problem with my Satellite A210-103 (with an ATI HD2600)

Whenever I want to start 'Battlefield2' (and other games or watch a dvd) it shows an error message warning me that my "shared desktop" is enabled and that I should turn off this option.

As far as I know, that it is a way of office that does not exist on Windows Vista.

Is there someone who had an idea what I could do?

    Thank you

I would also say that you need to disable the external monitor or the shared desktop.
Usually, you can disable the shared desktop by using the FN + F5 key combination

But if this does not help, check the properties of the graphics driver you-> settings tab

  • Logitech Z-10 for a Satellite A210-12U speakers reviews

I intend to get some speakers for my speakers for an A210-12U, and currently the Logitech Z-10 speakers seem like a great choice.
I was wondering if someone here had an experince (good or bad) with these speakers on a similar notebook or could give me other recommendations for speakers.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I m not an owner of Logitech Z - 10 speakers, but I read a few tests and suggestions on various Web sites.

    The speakers are really good.

The speaker system has got 5 of 5 points in machining quality and sound.
4 of 5 points is assigned to reliability.

So it s looks like a good choice

  • Two questions with Satellite A210-1ap

    Hi, I'm from Turkey.

My English isn't good. I think I can explain my problem.

I have Windows XP Home edition system. I have implemented all the drivers of Windows XP Home edition for my laptop.

But I can t set up Power Saver' and ' Modules common "(et touche d'accès rapide)."»

Standby power error is * A Fatal error has occurred. This program will be terminated.*
    * code: 0x6A6 *.
    * Location: TPSDel.cpp (332) *.

And my laptop is too hot.

    What can I do?

    Hello

Satellite A210-1AP belongs to the PSAELE series.
I checked the page of the Toshiba driver and surprise, surprise

Toshiba Power saver and the common modules are NOT available for Win XP!

So the answer is simple; the error message appears because you did NOT use compatible software, programs!

Don t install the Toshiba Power saver and the common module if they are not designed for you notebook series!

Also, I tried to burn a TV show I recorded using Media Center (also used for the recording of the program). I have 2 problems...

    1. the burning process takes forever to fill

    Hello

To get the TV picture please do not follow:

-Start your laptop and the TV turns
-Connect your laptop with TV using the S-video cable
-turn on the S-video TV port
-use the FN + F5 key combination and go to the TV output setting

I did probably 100 times with different TVs and it worked every time. Many people always make the same mistake the S-video port on television is not properly active and because of that don't here are either no picture or the picture is black and white.

On the creation of DVD I can't say a lot right now, but I can say with certainty that I designed using Media Center DVD engraving option. I recorded some old VHS movies as mpg files and created DVDs with no problems. I don't really know what you're doing wrong.

If you mpeg files also try to use another application to create DVDs. try with Nero. It is very powerful and I hope you do this successfully.

    Hello

What devices are connected to the machine? Some external HDD´s or DVD readers? Would be interesting to know because this error is caused mainly by external media/devices that are not properly connected to the laptop or a malfunction.

I recommend to unplug everything from your machine and check if the error reappears. So I would suggest to backup all of your important data and retrieve the machine completely (maybe it s a related problem of the software).

If that's not enough then come back and talk to us more this question.

    Hello

To be honest, I don't understand. You are talking about the Cd/Dvd drive missing or Dvd Toshiba player?

    Anyway, try this:

    1. access to the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Reboot the laptop and wait for the CD/DVD drive would appear once again

    or

2 go to the page of the Toshiba driver and download dvd player
