With Officejet 951 HP cartridges ink tank

I have a printer HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 that I use almost exclusively for BW printing. I am satisfied with the printer and have managed to overcome the fact that the printer will not print if a color cartridge is empty (HP Officejet 951).

My concern is that I rarely use the color and the color (HP 951) cartridge does not provide the amount of ink that HP lists as the standard for the number of pages that must be printable based on color % coverage.

As a result, I'll have to buy HP Color cartridges that should still ink for printing pages BW. In fact, if you shake the color cartridge you get some leakage of ink.

Is HP really provide a sufficient amount of color ink in these cartridges?, I think they view the number of pages, you should be able to print on the cover of colour, but with less ink cartridges filling said then.

If you do not use a color cartridge they dry out?

It is a great printer to BW, but I am frustrated by held hostage on the dependencies of color and price.

Soyers salvation, it is a printer IIC (individual ink cartridges) and so little color adjusts when black is printing. (For more details, see the link on the use of ink in printers inkjet below). Have you tried with cartridges size XL & Fastdraft printing in order to get a higher return on the page?

BTW, if you print mainly black text documents, then you are probably more suited to a printer IPH (individual printheads). With many of them, you can print in black only, even if the flag is empty.

Inket printers ink usage.

  • Why my printer HP Officejet 6600 uses color ink even if I'm not printing in color?

I've had this printer about a year now. I replaced the full range of ink at least 3 times now, working on 4. I don't post much at all. A couple of leaves a day or two. I always thought she was using color ink very quickly so I thought I'd put it to the test. I changed the default settings in black ink only. I have replaced all the ink cartiridges, color and black. I decided this time I would not print anything in color just to see what happened. Well, the same thing is happening as if I were with color ink. The color ink is empty much faster than black ink. This seems weird to me. Now, we are at the point where it will not be printed unless I have replace the magentia. It seems unfair that they do not mention this clearly when you buy the item. Something like "Oh, by the way, we are not making enough money doing business as it should, then we will make replace you your ink supply, even if it is really not necessary and must take over." I paid for a new printer already with ink costs. Is there a way around this problem or am I stuck with it. Thank you.

When you set the printer to print grayscale has also selected "black ink"? only

HP and other printer manufacturers have technology another printer for different needs.

    • Some have integrated into the ink cartridges print heads.  These printers can print generally with one or more of the colors completely empty, or even with color or black cartridges (but not both) removed. The Deskjet 6980 series is an example.
    • Other printers have separate replaceable printheads and inks.  An example would be the printer Officejet 8600.  In these printers print head can be replaced if they are damaged by running the printhead with colors off.  Some of these printers allow printing with a color, the other will not.  If the printer is run without ink in one or several colours, the printer may be damaged, but the user may be able to recover without having to send to the printer for the service.
    • Other printers have permanent print heads.  To run only those without little ink in all colours would risk causing damage to the printhead due to clogs, air ingested in the grilled printheadvor printhead resistances of shooting. The Photosmart 6600 series is an example of this type of printer. For printers with fixed print heads that could require the service to get the printer to print properly again when the ink is finally replaced.

The document described here how the ink is used.  The document is written for inkjet printers HP the same principles apply to printers inkjet from other manufacturers.

  • Full ink tank cleaning

My Photosmart C410a printer a lot of ink tanks that are used to catch ink when the cartridges are cleaned or the preinter passes through a print prep cycle.  I need help on how to access these tanks to clean them.  These tanks are located under the printhead in the corner before right to the printer.

Well, if it is no longer under warranty, you can try to sop some of the ink. With the printer, open the access door as you would to change an ink cartridge. Once the carriage stops in the Middle, unplug the power cord at the back. This way the transport will remain in the Middle, and you will not work inside a live-powered device.

You can sop part of ink with q-tips or something similar. But, be patient and slow, this can be very messy. Don't let the ink on things that it is very very difficult to get out. Once you get it sopped up to your satisfaction, close the door. Connect the power cord to the back of the printer and run it.

Don't forget to not pick it up in the printer with the fixed supply cord, on the one hand, there is a time limit on transport sitting in the middle on some models, and if it is powered, it can itself reinstall to the right without prior notice. You don't want anything in fashion, like a finger, as appropriate. Leave the power cord only while you are there is the safest way.

  • How can I print with black and white cartridge only?

    Hello

Unfortunately, it is not possible to print using the black and white, while one of the ink cartridges are empty.

Using black ink only possible while there's ink color as well.

While the color ink is not required for the purposes of printing, there are required for, maintnance operations of the device.

As the appliance contains an internal printhead (IIC() system, lack of color ink can damage the system shortly. This is why the device is not functional when there is no ink in order to prevent damage to the system.

For users who wish to print using just black ink (despite the reduced print quality), many HP printers offer options. For example, a driver colour setting (by selecting "print in greyscale with the black cartridge only" in printing preferences) specifies printing using only black ink. In addition, many IPH printers can operate in "reserve mode", which allows the user to continue to print with just the black cartridge when the colour cartridge is removed or not installed. In HP IIC systems, all supplies are required to be installed in the printer for the printer to function
