  I suggest you rebuilt Windows media player library and check if it helps:

  Step 1:

  a. exit Windows Media Player.

  b. for Windows 7: click Start, run, %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player and then click on OK.

  c. Select all files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

  Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

  d. restart Windows Media Player.

  Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

  Step 2:

  If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

  a. exit Windows Media Player.

  b. If you run Windows 7, click Start, run, % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.

  c. Select the folder Media Playerand then click on Delete on the file menu.

  d. restart Windows Media Player.

  It will be useful.

  See iPod displays an icon 'X' Red - Apple Support. Apple may not have much interest in the classic iPod service. The line was removed some time ago. See also Re: corrupted iPod classic. You can try to get the stats, but my guess is that it will fail open player.

  Please relay the e-mail program you use.  You can also try to save the file directly on your local computer, and then check if the file is being read correctly. I can read a file and then 10 minutes later the same file will not play.  Sometimes after the error message, if I don't click Close, the video is not yet but the audio will not.
