• Time Machine won't see drive connected to Airport Extreme

  I have a MacBook Pro 2009 (5,5), El Capitan running. I just replaced the HD with an SSD. The OWC kit, I bought came with a USB for my old HD box. I want to use this drive as my Time Machine as my old drive to WD firewire crapped out. The old MBP disk is inside OS X extended (journaled) formatting and goes up as a network drive in my finder when it is connected to my Airport Extreme. Time Machine won't see unless it is connected directly to the USB port on the MPB.

  The first thought that comes to mind here is to make sure that you have the latest version of 'tour' of the AirPort Extreme, which officially supports Time Machine backups on a drive to the USB port of the device.

  Is this the case?

  I am trying to upgrade the Toshiba 30 GB hard drive that came with the unit to a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 250 GB EIDE drive.

  My BIOS settings show set up for EIDE and boot from the CDROM. What I'm missing?

  So try with the smallest HARD drive like 80 or 100 GB.

• Win2008 R2 won't see network adapter

  Hi all

  I peer gave me a Win2008 R2 64-bit image to put in our box of VMWare Server 2.x.  The powers of the image on but Windows can not see the internet, and in fact there is not listed in Windows 2008 network adapters.

  I also noticed that this virtual machine is set to "other"... don't know if it's part of the problem... and I have no idea how correctly it affect Win2008 if there is such a choice.

  We have other Win7 and machines virtual Linux that work very well... all together upwards as connected by a bridge.  We had a Win2008 VM on the box a few months ago and everything worked well, too.

  Any ideas on how to solve the network problem?  The content of the VMX file is below.

• Computer won't see airport extreme base station

  I bought a 6th generation Airport Extreme off eBay. Hooked up to the cable modem, but the computer will not see it. Open Airport utility, but it is not the base station.

  Help!

• Satellite Pro L20 won't see WiFi Linksys WAG 354 G

  My L20 don't even see my Wi - Fi point. He can see and connect to Netgear and other (older) Linksys AP but not the WAG 354 G. Other laptops can see the AP. I don't think it's something to do with WEP encryption, because he has yet to see the SSID broadcast which is on. I can't update the Linksys to any newer firmware and 5005 G Atheros chipset drivers 3.1.2.19.1123 or is it 3.1.2.45?

• Computer sees DVDRW plug-and - play, but said the driver could not be loaded. Won't see external DVD - RW external USB.

  I just did mine to talk wireless.  My mistake was reset the camera between steps - I kept losing the settings.  I used the ping to prove my steps.  Note whenever you plug the power cable into the camera, the blue light should turn on, turn off, then blink several times and go stable.

  With the ethernet cable connected, enter a static IP and the SID and apply the settings.  Unplug the power supply, wait 10 seconds, plug it back and check that you can access camera web page using your static IP address.

  If this does not work (you can access the page and your settings are still in place), enter your security information (I use WEP 128 but there should be no difference with 64) and apply it.  Go to prove that it has the settings again.

  Then unplug your power once more, unplug the ethernet cable and reconnect the power supply.  You should see a little more flashing, but not much, because it looks for your wireless network and connects.  Now you should be able to ping the static IP address and get answers and you should be able to use the web page for the administration of the camera.

  If this does not work, try an IP scanner (I used a freeware of radmin.com scanner) and see if the address is in place in the list.  I have to go through a few iterations that the camera has lost its static IP address and is back to DHCP - the scanner made me know what was the new address.

• VM won't see network

  I have a win7 64 bit virtual machine under Vmware workstation 7 on a host (win7 64 bit). The virtual machine could see the network very well, but now he can't.   I don't think it's something built in Windows 7 x 64 (Professional at least)... Variant of Windows 7 x 64 are you running? I use Bridged networking under VMware Workstation forever, including hosts running Windows 7 x 64 and XP x 64 with the WS 6.x and 7.x version. I prefer the bridged method since I get different IP for the virtual machine (as you also mentioned wanting to). There are also a lot of advantages to having the VM to get their own, unique IP addresses.

  Is the address your host's MAC is entered into the router get a specific IP address? Try rinsing/resetting the router to DHCP settings (at least). I got also check to see if the router has a firmware update available and what are the problems that is supposed to solve. What brand/model is the router? If you create an own virtual machine, you can get it to work with the method of bridged networking?

  I just got a MacBook Pro with El Capitan. I joined it to my area of work and I have implemented SonicWall VPN Client Mobile and I tested it on and it works - only if my network, I am connected to and the VPN will not have the same IP range.

  I would like to use the integrated VPN L2TP client, but I have questions here. I have configurted on my Dell SonicWall and connect this VPN from a remote location, it will connect and show the data transfer (sending / reception are green) but I can not access my network drives.

  Once I have switch back to Mobile Client VPN SonicWall, everything works well.

  Any idea?

  Routing on L2TP or PPTP will probably work or at all, if both ends of the VPN tunnel terminate on the same CIDR network block. Which is why people never give a one VPN server address local 192.168.1.0/24. the network block is much too common. Please use something in 10.x.x.x.

  I tried my 3 usb ports on my computer Toshiba laptop is NOT, and none of them work with the HARD disk. My mouse & keyboard are working on the USB ports.

  I have a new Curve 8530.  Telephone set up went well.  The next step is to synchronize with my calendar in Microsoft Outlook, Contacts, tasks and Notes.  I installed the software from the CD that came with the phone.  He takes me by the point were I can set up synchronization, but when I check the box for the items listed above, I do not get Outlook as the source when I get to the next page.  It offers me no, file ASCII, or Yahoo, but Outlook is not the case to be seen.
