Satellite Pro L20 won't see WiFi Linksys WAG 354 G

My L20 don't even see my Wi - Fi point. He can see and connect to Netgear and other (older) Linksys AP but not the WAG 354 G. Other laptops can see the AP. I don't think it's something to do with WEP encryption, because he has yet to see the SSID broadcast which is on. I can't update the Linksys to any newer firmware and 5005 G Atheros chipset drivers 3.1.2.19.1123 or is it 3.1.2.45?
In any case I never been stuck like this before with laptops and APs-seems a bit odd.

Any idea?

Hello

You use the clean option of the Windows operating system to configure the WiFi network or using the Atheros client utility?
If you use the Atheros client utility, so the windows option must be disabled.

On the Toshiba driver page I found a new version of the Atheros WLan driver.
There is a version 4.1.2.71 for 802.11 G standard. You should check the two pilots. Maybe one of these two applications will work.

I have a new Apple Extreme Base Station with full support dual band 802.11n.
I set up two separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks.
The wireless adapter is a Realtek wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC 8191SE bundled with the laptop when I bought it.
Toshiba L640 sees only the 2.4 GHz network.
On another site, a technician HP recommended upgrading of 8192E Realtek adapter.
What can I do to get 802.11n 5 GHz work?

    Hello

The Satellite Pro L640 seems to be a Toshiba laptop we.
In any case, first you must make sure that your wireless network card is 802.11 Wlan N capable.
If the WLan card would support 802.11 Wlan N standard, then I recommend updating the driver WLan.
You must use the most recent driver from the Wlan card manufacturer page.

In addition, you must make sure that wireless network adapter has been configured to use the standard 802.11 N.
You should check the settings in the Device Manager-> card WLan-> properties-> Advanced tab.

  • Satellite Pro L20 won't start on battery

    Hello
I have a L20 sitting Pro and it wouldn't boot on battery; I need to plug in the area of work. It indicates the battery level is 88%. The laptop is less than a year old, so I don't think that there is a problem with the battery.

    Thank you.

  • Satellite Pro L20 cannot see APs works on Channel 13

I work in a school where we have a WLAN with multiple Points of access working on different channels. Staff a model of laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro L20 with Atheros WLAN cards (they are actually labeled "Askey" but they appear in as Atheros Device Manager. These laptops do not have any APs working on Channel 13. Anyone know if these cards support channel 13?

Or do need to be configured to do this - if so how?

Wlan 13 channel isn't available on Toshiba laptops due to some important restrictions! Because Toshiba distributes own books in the world, all Wlan channels must meet various conditions.
Channel 13 is not available in the USA because the USA standard uses only 11 channels.
That's why 13 is not activated!

  • Satellite Pro L20 would not publish.

I received a Satellite Pro L20 who had probably overheated (was running with contribution covered and turns off for good).

So far I had removed everything and mobo appears intact. I had allowed cmos and disconnected the battery, reinstall CPU (tested ot in a separate mobile - good) and I tried to start the internal/external screen with no effect. It starts well, fan turns and responds to the shortcut keys / deals with optical and hard drive but gives no video output. I can't test the ddr2 memory as the other laptop is ddr.

Is there a way to test the video output somehow? F5 (with connected external monitor) several attempts but don't know if he responded to it at all. It responds to the reset / wireless, powers down and changes corresponding s LED but gives without being eps either. And Board of Directors has no led indicator. Powering with F12 does nothing. And there is a clicking noise when you start (with headphones).

Any ideas would be very welcome.

P.S. The profanity? At least mark what you think, it's blasphemy - spend 10 minutes to make it messy and get what abbriviation consider you profanity...

You already have thougt that the motherboard could be defective? I mean the machine give some answers but it won´t come up anyway. It could be:

    -Defective RAM
    -overheaten CPU
-some resistance or capacitor on the map
-Perhaps that you have forgotten something or some metals inside the machine fold which causes some short circuit (there was already this case a few weeks ago here in the forum, the guy disassembled the machine again and discovered that some metal shielding of the base that was turn during reassembly of the laptop.) It caused a brief signs and come the didn t machine..)
-a faulty device (such as HDD, modem, keyboard, mouse, and any other PCB) which translates the non bootable.

Check the machine carefully (maybe it would be good to take it apart again), so if the machine after checking the won´t happen then you should give the machine to a toshiba technician. Maybe he knows better?

  • Driver LAN for Satellite Pro L20 Windows 2000

I am looking for a local network (ethernet) drive to my Satellite Pro L20, who has Windows 2000 on it.
I found one for WiFi, but not for the Ethernet (cable/CAT).

    Hello

Well, you can t find all the LAN for Win2000 drivers on the Toshiba page because this unit has been delivered and tested with the Windows Xp operating system.
However, I found the information that the appliance has a CL LAN Realtek 8100.
In this case, I guess for visit the site Web of Realtek. You can find a compatible driver for this network adapter.

  • Satellite Pro L20 - broken hinge baseplate - where to find the parts?

    Hello

First post here, so please excuse the lack of local etiquette.

My son has a Toshiba Satellite Pro L20 with a broken hinge base plate. I'm calling it a base plate that I can not find the name of the part anywhere on the web so far.

Its obviously the metal plate on the basis that the hinge attaches to.
You can see it if you remove the battery.

Nobody knows what is this part and where I could possibly buy one?

    Kind regards

    Hello

I think that in this case the ASP from Toshiba (certified partner) might help you.

You must enter in contact of this ASP in your country and the technician should be able to order a compatible part for laptop.

  • Satellite Pro L20 goes wrong with i.f. audio Fast Track USB

    Hello!

I used my Fast Track USB on new Toshiba Satellite L40 and I never had any problems with it. I could put a low latency and I did a few songs with him.

Yesterday, I bought another laptop, thinking of recording studio at home. He used the Toshiba Satellite Pro L20. It does not work with my interface. When I listen to music on Winamp or anything on Fruity Loops, I hear strong clicks, pop, noise. They introduce samples, or they appear during playback, or after a sample is stopped.

I noticed, drivers for Satellite Pro L20 are a problem. Its not supported by Toshiba more? The only chipset drivers are old, and you can download em only from site Web from Toshiba. The chipset is ATI Xpress 200 M. Its pilots are with the graphics card. Recently I noticed that you can download "ATI Catalyst Legacy Display Driver for Windows XP - card mother/IGP Drivers 9.11" and CRACK to make it possible to install on a mobile device like the L20. Yep it's funny, but its impossible to do otherwise!

things that I have tried and they have still not help:
replacement of drivers #, original were released in 2004. I installed the version.
driver settings #, low latency, high latency
    # asio and different settings
pluging # USB interface to another.
    # try what happens when I use the battery and when to use the adapter
    # update BIOS
    # off units such as wifi, card sound card on board
    # checked IRQ list

persistent organic pollutants will always appear.

    my config:

    Toshiba Satellite Pro L20
    Win XP Home SP3
    Celeron M 1, 5 GHz
    896 MB of ram
M - Audio Fast Track USB, drivers: 6.0.2

    Kind regards

Initially, I wonder that you use old notebook L20 now. You have no more L40?

You must understand that the Satellite Pro L20 is older model laptop and also not the best choice for such operations. This laptop is probably designed for simpler day-to-day operations such as the internet, e-mail, office, a little bit of multimedia and that s all the.

I don't mean good old classic doesn't work with your external device, but you will be lucky if someone has the same external device and the same model of laptop and write about their own experiences.

Do you use factory settings or you have installed the own operating system?

  • Satellite Pro L20 - looking for a better battery

    [Edited by: admin January 21 06 10:42]

    Hello

Well, battery working time depends on the use of the laptop. The use of the high-performance notebook reduces the battery working time.
In addition, you should check the watch tool Toshiba. There are different modes of battery that you can use. The right mode increases battery working time.

  • Need of repair for CD-rom update on Satellite Pro L20

    Hello
Is there anywhere I can download a repair manual for Satellite Pro L20 that I just bought a dvdrw drive & want to adapt it myself

    TIA

    Hello

Unfortunately, you won't find manuals repair on the Toshiba site. Only Toshiba service partners have such documents and the ability to use laptop manuals.
As far as I know, the reader is fixed with a screw that is placed at the bottom of the unit and under the keyboard.
After the withdrawal of these two screws, you can disconnect an optical drive to the connector on the system board.

But without any experience, you must remove all readers. I think you should ask the service of Toshiba for help because he has more experience in such cases

  • Satellite Pro L20: Wireless connection is not reliable

    Hello

We have some Toshiba laptops in the office.

However, the wireless on our most recent purchase (Satellite Pro L20) installation is very reliable. Periodically he loses sight of the network without apparent reason.

We have the device permanently connected, and the problem can occur even when the machine is in the middle of copying files to and from the network server.

The actual wireless access point is within a few feet of distance (in view), so I can't imagine there is a problem of signal strength. Can anyone offer me any guidance?

I don't know where to start on this one there...

    TIA

  • Satellite Pro L20 - no audio output device installed

Hi, I would appreciate some help with my installation of 32 bit Vista on my Satellite Pro L20 series.

Installation went well but my sound icon has a cross with her and when I place the mouse over it I see the message: no audio output device installed. I went in full with privilagesand Device Manager there is an exclamation following audio controller appliances. I looked at the General properties and it says: "this device is not configured correctly (code 1). I uninstalled the driver and downloaded Realtek AC97-Ref: 6285_Vista_APO_PG536 driver installed and rebooted but I still got the same error messages!

Can someone help me? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times now, I don't know where to go next!

    Hello

As a boarder, said, if you have a Conexant sound card, you should look for a Conexant audio driver.
The Realtek driver will never work because that makes this different s.

Check other Toshiba laptops for the same card his Conexant. Maybe you can find a Conexant Vista driver.

  • Satellite Pro L20: battery not charge when the power adapter is connected

    Hello

    all advice appreciated.

I had a Satellite Pro L20 for about 18 months. Recently, battery does not charge when the power adapter is connected. The battery light starts yellow (which means more liberated, I think?), then will both green, the machine sat for awhile. However the ACPI often said that AC is "offline."

There are two recent occurrences that coincide with this problem, I try to eliminate:

    1. my friends rat chewed by the feeder for pets! Power is Mobile OK insofar as he fled sector - the rat seems to have simply chewed by the outer cover (I see some threads, but I think that is just a shield, although I'm not an electrician).

    2. I put the laptop in hibernation for the first time. That seemed to mess up the system a bit, which was what initially drew my attention to the problem. This question is a bit complicated because I'm under Linux (Xubuntu).

I updated the drivers etc from windows when I bought the laptop. Never had any problems until now and have been running linux for centuries. Also, I have mainly the laptop the power supply turned off, but do not remove the battery (is that really a problem these days?)

I obviously need to replace the adapter, but is - it is likely (and how I can check) that the battery was borked until?

    see you soon
    Chris

First, please check if the other are lit.
If the AC led and power led are on the adapter sector is ok and it provides the power to the laptop.

    > The battery light starts yellow (which means more liberated, I think?), then will both green, the machine sat for awhile
If the battery LED is yellow, this means that the battery is not fully charged and if the Green led changes then recharging is caught and the battery has been recharged.

So I really don t see any problems with the charge process.

Maybe the battery is old and so you cannot use it for an extended in such a case only the replacement of the battery could help.

  • What is the interface for a HDD Satellite Pro L20?

I want to upgrade the hard disk of 40 GB in my Satellite Pro L20 to a larger drive. The manual does not say what type of interface, it is. Any hard disk of standard internal SATA 2.5 "x 1/8 H will be adapted?

    Hello

You will need the height of 2.5 9.5 mm IDE HDD 40 GB, 60 GB, 80 GB or 100GB.

As you can see the IDE and not SATA HDD is necessary!

  • Re: Is my Win XP too old for Satellite Pro L20

    Hi guys

This is the first time on a forum, so please be nice.
I'm trying to re - install the OS on my toshiba Satellite Pro L20 and chipset specifications requires:

Windows * XP 5.10.2600 (original version)

I have Windows XP home 2002 which seems to be 5.1.2600.

I've never done this before and I'm trying to rebuild the laptop for my father in law to use.

My version of windows is too old for this? I have an error message asking me to check the system requirements in the readme file

    Thank you

No, it is certainly not too old ;)

Maybe your XP disk contains SP2 or other patches, but it's not really bad.
You can update everything after installing Windows.

After installing windows, you could install the Toshiba drivers that you might find on the European driver Toshiba page.

Please note; You should also research * Archives * area the driver page if you won't find anything in field of laptops
