WordPad file type error
My printer and computer are connected to the correct Internet and I printed a test page successfully.
My problem is printing everything. I mainly use WordPad or print from my email, and when I try to print a window opens which asks me to save the .xps file or other media other than .doc or .docx. I save the file and it still won't let me print. I tried to change the file type, but nothing comes. I'm not print file or anything else.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
When I try to print a window which asks me to save the .xps file or other media other than .doc or .docx.
This suggests that your default printer is set in XPS Document Writer, rather than to the printer you have installed. When you start the printing operation, make sure that you select your printer in the upper part of the window 'print '.
To set the value by default, click Start, and then click "devices and printers". Right-click on your printer icon and then click 'set as default' default printer will be a green circle with a white tick, like this:

Windows gives you integrated programs to open the image as png files.
In Vista, use Windows Photo Gallery to open png files.
In Windows 7, if you use it, you can use Windows Photo Viewer to open png files.
If you have installed Windows Live Essentials, you can use Windows live Photo Gallery to open png files.

Original title: WMP "can't play wav or midi.
Using WMP 11 on Windows XP SP3.
Windows Media Player has somehow forgotten how to play wav or midi files. Doubleclicking either of these file types give an error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file. " There is a button 'Close' and 'Web Help' which still informs me, "you met the C00D1199 error message... ". ». Following the advice given nothing less than useful.
I can easily play these files with RealPlayer or VLC so I don't think it's a driver problem, and it wasn't a corruption right after installing the other players. WMP seems to work OK when playing music or AVI. And there is no harm to hear a sound (wav or midi) in Windows for various system events. Have already uninstalled/reinstalled WMP without result.
Thanks for your reply.
I have since determeined the problem comes from an updated codec package I installed a few weeks ago. These codecs were from Shark007 which I believe is a Microsoft MVP. Use the codecs from this site for a number of years without any problems so I did not initially suspect it was the source of the problem. I uninstalled the codec pack and installed K-light package and everything seems to be Ok now. Now, I'll be in contact with the members of this forum.

- y at - it software that could help me.which will work with my Media Player to convert almost any format or find the good codec.so I can watch my videos, I have downloaded on my documents.there need some software out there that would do this work.so my media player 11 play my videos.
Hi Bbdunford,
O what is the file format?
O if it works well before?
Today, there are hundreds of audio and video codecs in use. Some were created by Microsoft, but the vast majority of codecs have been created by other companies, organizations or individuals. By default, the Windows operating system and the player includes a number of the most popular codecs, such as MP3, Windows Media Audio and Windows Media Video.
There might be times, however, when you want to read the content that is compressed with a codec that does not include Windows or the default player. In many cases, you can download the necessary codec on the web for free or for a fee. And, in some cases, the player can automatically use the codecs installed by other reading programs and the creation of digital media on your computer.
You may encounter this error message for the following reasons:
1. the file type is supported by the drive, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.
2 - the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.
You can try the steps and check if it makes a difference.
1. in order to determine what codec was used with a specific file, play the file in the player, if possible. When the file is playing, right-click the file in the library, and then click Properties. On the file tab, look at the sections of video codec and Audio codec.
2 download and install Codecs by clicking on the PLAYER tab and check. To connect to the Internet and automatically download Codecs player
3. configure the protocol settings
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Network tab.
In the Streaming protocols area, select all the check boxes Protocol.
When connecting to a server running Windows Media Services, Windows Media Player tries to use all selected protocols.

- now that the full version of k'lite seems to stop what is happening why hasent windows incorporated something similar in the windows media player 11, or they have another type of codec full, we can use to make this.only so many people have the same problem .please can help you.
Hi bbdunford,
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file.
You may encounter this error message for the following reasons:
(a) the file type is supported by the drive, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.
(b) the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.
Windows media player will play only the files and videos only if it supports this type of file.
Method 1
Check if the video file format is supported by Windows media player using the link below.
Information on the types of media files that supports Windows Media Player
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/316992
If the files are not supported by Windows media player, then you will need to use a few players from third party that supports this file format.
Method 2
See the link below for more information on the codec.
