Workflow to remove giant files when you work with 4 k images

I put on the live educational programs periodically, which can operate for about 1 1/2 hours.  I have been those on Panasonic GH4 4K recording and capturing Atomos Shogun on an SSD.

These files can be very wide - from 200-400 + gigabytes, so store raw images impossible quickly, especially since I would like to make copies of backup - and that means 2-4 to hard drives fill up very quickly.

My potential output will be in HD (1920 x 1080) - but I don't invoice using the 4K, because it gives me the opportunity to film a whole scene and then crop the shot / zoom in to individual speakers.  (and it is a production effort one person, where I implemented the advance camera and just let it run)

There is a feature of downres automatically from 4K to 1080 - but I don't want to throw all the data that allows me to make false zooms, pans etc.

Thanks for your suggestions regarding the storage and workflow.

OK... a primer on the size of the files in the image pixel by image measurement:

HD... 1280 x 720... or simply "720"... is 1280 x 720 pixels or 921 600 pixels per picture, say about 1 million pixels.

"Full HD"... FHD... 1920 x 1080... or... just "1080" is 1920 x 1080 pixels or 2 073 600 pixels per image, for example Yes, about 2 million pixels.

4 k varies a bit, GH4 uses the 3840 x 2160 flavor mainly... which is 8 294 400 pixels per image, for example about 8.3 million pixels.

The above numbers are for each image. Multiply that by the number of frames per second, which by 60, and you get the amount of data must be recorded per minute of time. You can see that 4 k is a considerable increase in FHD data, not to mention HD. Naturally, which is why it is of great interest, right?

And... 10-bit takes a piece of data-more space to record 8-bit, as you have the values possible in 1063 by image rather than 265.

Now... the codecs do something a 'complete' picture recording all save as many executives and right in-between the pixels that change. A bit of whimsy to the dance, and depending on how it is done in a file resulting of decent quality... or the hash. And of course, another problem is that it can also take a TON of most cycles CPU off encode all of the media to play on your screen.

Jim Simons and I tend to go for Cineform as large intermediate codec... parts return "like butter" through the CPU and Yes, may contain 10-bit color data you need to make the green screen... but... it is not too compressed than others. Which is a good part of the reason for which it reproduces so well.

DNxHD/R works fine too and can be used in the flavors that keep the 10 bits, seem to compress a little more than the Cineform and reading pretty decently.

But the file up to FHD consequence dumping you will never get the 4 k resolution data back.

It's one of those situations where you have to pick your poison. Seriously. Keep the data, or record HD or tape backup space. Well, hard drives become cheaper, you know.

And be happy that you are not working with 6 k-12/bit material!

Ideas to explain why, when you work with raw files in LR 2015 with Edit in PS 2015 and use the Camera Raw filter, the profile in the Lens Correction Panel tab is missing? Mac OS X 10.10.5.  I reinstalled the OS and Lightroom and PS, nothing helps.

    Hi ParadigmRose,

This is expected as profile tab behavior does not appear under Lens Correction Panel if you go to Camera Raw Filter in Photoshop

However, profile tab would be there if you open a raw image directly in camera raw first.

You can go to the filter menu > Lens correction in Photoshop, if you want to search for profiles with edit in Photoshop.

  • I have problem with Muse files when you work at home with my laptop and when I open the files again in my work with my IMac.

I have problem with Muse files when you work at home with my laptop and when I open the files again in my work with my IMac.

I do: when I am uncomfortable with the laptop I save the files on the laptop, then on my external hard drive. Then, when I'm at work, I opened the drive, but the Muse says every time, that so many links in the 'active' is missing. And it takes a lot of time to get all the missing link. Like today I had to open a file of Muse from the external hard drive, and there are about 100 links that are missing.

How can I solve this problem

the best thing if you are a user of creative cloud is to store the files in a folder in your account of cloud instead of transferring the files from one computer to another.

If you are not a Subscriber cc then Dropbox or iCloud will work as well.

  • Why Premiere Pro CC 2015 crash when you work with still images?

I am in the phase of learning with first (edited on Sony Vegas for years) and I'm working on a test/learning the project using a mix of videos and photos of my family trips.

Working with the video looks very good (although the thumbnails take forever to load for the still and video images and need to refresh every time that I re - open a bin). When I work with stills (jpgs in this case), PP CC 2015 crashes at various points. He fell down on a double click to add to the drafting of a subitem, when deleting a still in the chronology of the sequence, a trip as always on the scenario, when you open the tab effects, etc.

I haven't done this experiment with video.

Don't laugh, but I was hoping that my laptop Dell XPS (Core i7 4500U, Intel HD Graphics 4400, 8 GB of RAM) would have enough power to use first (a part of why I subscribed). I'm on Windows 10 and keeping the files I work with on my local hard disk solid state. I tried to solve the problem by updating and also reduce the graphics driver, but I'm not as much of a techie like many of you.

Here is the log of the events since the last crash:

  • What is the best format of proxy to use when you work with S - Log in a linear colourspace?

I worked with a few images from Sony F55 shot against a green screen. I work in a 16 bit s - rbg colourspace

I did out of the source proxies that were photo-jpeg SBDAs, nice fast n.

However, it is fixed the color values in the proxy with what looks like an s-curve that did eventually my overlay significantly different parameters (IE much more contrasted) when switching between the proxy and original.

So, what would be the best way to go on the conversion of some sequences of newspapers-s to a fast proxy format without messing with settings main effects by such an amount of annoying. I can live with a small difference of course.

    Thanks in advance.

Since you are seized, I work with the original film, not proxies and just deal with the problems of time.

You will not get a precise key with a proxy... which is what you need.  Or you COULD work quickly and with no more worries with a proxy and get an incorrect key, but I doubt that is your goal.

  • Records duplicated when you work with the file history

I look at the file history.
I wonder what happens if you have a folder contained in the two favourites and libraries. Things get backed up twice or is smart enough history to only backup files?

For example: I have a user named Woody, and of course Woody has a documents folder.  For convenience in obtaining these records quickly one can be in the Favorites and the other in libraries.  Because Woody the folder called documents I wonder if the history of the files will save this directory twice?

    Thank you

You can remove duplicates of files and documents. Perform the following steps to change the settings.

    (a) press the Windows key and the X key.
    (b) select Control Panel . Click Show all.
    (c) click file transfer. Click Settings in advance .
    (d) select the desired option in keep recorded versions in the menu drop-down.

You can clean or remove the previous version as well. On the same page as mentioned above, click clean Versions. Select the appropriate option and delete the rest.

If you are still unable to work with her, I suggest you try the option of recovering files of Windows 7 available in the Panel. However, steps above should solve your problem.

  • Maintain performance when you work with several shape layers (~ 50)

Hey guys, I worked on a few recent projects where I need to animate a large number of shape layers cascading, adorning it, with different properties of the animation. When I arrived at the point of use of 30-60 shape layers or more, and they all sort of scale, position, animations etc, my computer slows down to a complete analysis. Then forces me to use a single shape layer and Repeater functions. These can work well, sometimes and not cripple the flexibility too, UNTIL you need to incorporate various colors. At this point, I usually spend my shape layers to masks and place a layer underneath with different colors according to the needs. Animations of form then show these colors, but it does not work for a complex object, which, in itself, requires a lot of colors. so...

What type of workflow you all to work with more complex semi both objects? I say to myself that I must be missing something, because it's become really limit. Everyone works only with 256 GB of memory RAM?

    FYI, my computer specs are:

    6 core Intel Xeon 2 x 2.66 GHz

    32 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC

ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB

    OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)

    Thank you!!

Motorhomes can accelerate your insights if you use the disk cache, but there will be nothing to expedite your first ram preview or a ram preview after a keyframe to change except a better optimized system. All that it takes to slow things down is an effect or film file that causes the AE to begin to use the power of CPU and memory.

As test I just created a gradient filled rectangle, added keyframes rotation, duplicate the layer so I have 64 copies on my Mac Mini and tried a preview ram from the same model with 1 single layer. Almost no difference in time it took to get an overview of 10 seconds. Thrown into a processing of scale for all layers and once again, not a lot of difference between the layer shape and 64. To make things much more difficult, I change the rectangle a polygon and animated everything in the transform properties starter, put in place a composition with 128 duplicates and a model with a single layer. 2.5 seconds for a ram in the quarter preview ground for a single layer, 10 seconds for a RAM Preview to 128 layers. It is more than acceptable for me for an old Mac Mini for two years with 16 GB of ram. Increase in the factor of 50% zoom with resolution set to Auto double the ram preview duration that was still acceptable.

This makes me wonder what is happening in your composition. All the effects or other things going on? You have optimized your system for maximum performance? There are links with suggestions to do throughout this site as well as the recommendations of Adobe available here: after effects performance optimization

  • Why lines appear low when you work with layers?

I paint using a Cintiq and the use of layers.  When the image is then flattened, the lines become much darker.  I don't want the quality of the line to look different in the case of layers when flattened.  When I work in the Sketchbook Pro, it's exactly the same in layers because when he is flattened or saved in jpeg format, so why Photoshop behave this way?  Is there a way to fix this in Photoshop?  I hope so, because it is a deal breaker real for using Photoshop to draw.

  • Error message: Adobe Presenter has encountered an unexpected error when you work with that much...

Suddenly, today, three of my colleagues around the United States with Presenter 7 licenses can no longer save PowerPoint files or work with presenter.  Each of us has created courses successfully last week.

We all get the message 'unexpected error', tells us to "try to save your work in a new file, and then restart PowerPoint.»  If the problem persists, consult the help section... "We get the message even if we do is type a word on a slide, and try to save the file.

We cannot open the host help menu... the same error message.

So now, we can not save a PowerPoint file.  We cannot save a file in presenter.  We cannot save or import audio data to the presenter.  No matter what you click on the toolbar of the presenter, we get the same error message.  Nothing works.

    Help!

The updater you will get only 7.0.6. 7.0.7 was a major update, which took the presenter of an application from AS2 to AS3 application. I recommend to perform the process of update for 7.0.7, because it is 'necessary' to use with Connect 8.1 and newer. Published presentations wit 7.0.6 and older should work well.

The 7.0.7 update process can be found here: http://helpx.adobe.com/presenter.html

There is a link to download the updates of product, where you can get the installer for 7.0.7.

There are also instructions for upgrading to 7.0.7 as a stand-alone application or as part of a Suite.

  • How to speed up composition when you work with files open exr?

The main issue is covered by the title, but to help give you some background, here is a concise summary of my workflow:

    I hope someone can help.

I produce 3d animations composited .exr files saved out of 3ds max with vray.

I usually use separate .exr sequences for each of the items to make... rgb, reflections, the hardware ID etc... rather than recording a sequence unique .exr with all items incorporated in each frame.

I do it for flexibility, but I'm open to the idea of using the second approach above - certainly easier search and replacement of files sequences fact.

I find the somewhat slow Extractor plugin loading several exrs sequences and even a single sequence is so much slower that other files formats I can watch other floating point options.

I tried the new cache for exr CC 2014 files options, but it is still slow.

Files are stored on a single 2 TB internal sata hd drive but performance seems no different when the composition of a flash ssd drive internal or ssd in another pc on the network.

Strangely, an external drive plugged into usb 2 or 3 seems faster, after several trials but way still slower than png, tiff etc...

Any suggestions on improving my workflow for faster feedback from EI?

    Thank you very much

I stuck with 16-bit when possible. This has the advantage that 3D programs themselves make a conversion to integer values, and there is so little about consistent across formats and applications based on standardized assumptions like that and space sRGB and Gamma. 16 bit TIFF is quite powerful in AE. Problems with float TIFF and HDR files are pretty well planned, because all I know is no interval of fixed value defined in the file format specifications and everyone uses their own mishmash. Inevitably, you can't completely eliminate EXR, but you can book it for things you actually need as usual or motion vector passes. in my workflow certainly hacky inflate a 16-bit to 32-bit file never made much of a difference of 32-bit native files, but of course you can use subtly lit scenes al lthe night where it could be more relevant than for my reasonably evenly lit technical visualizations and motion graphics all...

  • Do a session when you work with single files

    Hello.

I'm new to hearing, but old as a user of audio software.

    I do Audio Forensics.

I do not work in the multitrack environment.

    I have.

I can't find a way to save my session.
(And what I define as my session).

Preferable the same RX 5 adv does,-all what I did with my single file. All filtersettings and cancellations.

But at least - my audio with my FX rack loaded with the FX, I used, - and the right settings for each of them.

And of course-the markers and regions that goes with the file (I guess that's ok, because metadata follows the sharing of .wav files)

Did I miss something? Where is it placed?

    2. (and I know that I have this post in the forum first)

Everyone who knows a way to get markers audio .wav converted to QuickTime chapter markers?

Yes,-j' have the first and FCP X Pro.

First audio markers is visible, but I find a way to select all Don t and convert chapter markers.

Hearing sessions exist for multitrack environments, not at all for editing waveform, which is destructive.

Hearing stores audio markers in addition separate at the end of a wav file. There is a software called CueListTool that gives you options of manipulation that may well help you. As far as I know, it still works fine with the current version, even if it is quite old now.

  • Audio post problems when you work with AnimateCC and FlashCC

My colleagues can not yet updated to AnimateCC, although I use it already.

They are if they open my files in FlashCC (I'm careful not to use specific newer tools) Audio post parameters are not defined for what I put them to.

We always use MP3 / 80 / stereo / better that our workflow & event sound settings but FLAs they open is displayed as MP3 / 16 / mono / fast.

Not only that, if they save the file to FlashCC after setting the parameters of what they should be, when it is reopened they always see the quick / mono / 16.

I can recreate this problem on my own machine using AnimateCC & FlashCC.

Our only workaround is to copy the images to a new file in FlashCC (until they are able to update their facilities to AnimateCC).

Can you advise if this is a known bug or something that can be fixed in a later version of animate so that people can continue to use older versions of your software?

I tried with Flash Pro CC, and once again the publication settings were correct. I downloaded your original sample files, and all of them show 80 Kbps.

For what it's worth, mabrouk might have used Windows, but I used Mac OS, this isn't a question of Mac/PC.

  • The basics on how to properly manage the profiles when you work with LAB color?

    Hello

I need to incorporate several color blocks in an InDesign document. I have the colors in a list as a LABORATORY values. The document will be printed, and I have the profile for the combo printer/paper that we intend to use.

One of you would be willing to walk me through the workspace, the color management policies and Assign/convert setings profile should I use to get the best result?

And, more precisely - assuming that I use the color Panel - no color chart - color in blocks: what settings should I use Inorder for me to rely on the warning "out of gamut" provided to warn me if I try to use a color that doesn't print correctly?  I don't care if it is out of gamut for the purposes of my screen - it's whether out-of-gamut phew for printing purposes and I want to know.

Are all the colors in the document you send really Lab? If this is the case your color settings and profiles have no effect on these colors. Your printer will convert colors to CMYK Lab somewhere in their workflow, and it will be for them to choose the right destination profile. If you know what will be their destination the CMYK profile, it would not hurt to apply it to your document, but it's their choice, of the for use or not when they exit your file.

Know your printer that you send color Lab?
