Worm on laptop

Hello!

My brother bought an older Toshiba laptop of his work for $40.00. He didn't get one of the accompanying CD. I read in your forums on the "recovery" CD or hit F8 for a repair option.
I don't know how old is the laptop or what series it is. The security alert window appears and says it has a worm on putr and download this program to get rid of them?

He doesn't know how it got there, disappeared on the sites he has already attended without problem. Is that what all Toshibas that has this F8 command or just the most recent?
As it does not pay a lot for this first it doesn t want to sink a lot of $$ from... not a lot these days for everyone! If he had a CD of windows xp operating system, he could use to reformat the hard drive and clean the putr?

There is nothing there, he needs to save, it actually just bought this card internet stick you in the slot... He said he doesn't see any antivirus but it did not mention a box tool symentac... did have any anti-virus inside program?

The only problem is that, that pop alert security thing won t let anything on the putr? Any advice? He lives in Idaho, and usually when he putr woes he calls me, his sis, it isn t everything that 'verse' in putrs... so I have looked around and came across this show so I thought I'd give it try.

Hope you can help... Thanks in advance... Sandy

Hello Sandy

It will be interesting to know what model of laptop, you're writing about. Then we can say more on this model and how everything works exactly.
F8 option is available on new models of portable computers only, and the best thing is to reinstall the operating system. After doing this, you will have clean operating system preinstalled.

Get info on supported OS and try to get the CD of Microsoft facilities. Prior to installation, please format the whole HARD drive and launch the installation of the OS.
I'm sure that everything will be OK after doing this.

If you have any other questions please let us know.

I would like to make a change and I'm concerned about compatibility with Firefox worm 25 issues. Are there problems of compatibility with Bitdefender Security of Windows 8? Are there problems of compatibility with Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 or Pure 3.0 Total Security? If I make changes on the security Suites, I'll use the same version on Win 8 and Win 7 machines. • Question about the benefits and experience of the Qosmio laptop

    Hello
I'm looking for laptop or a pc (laptop is better for mobility)
TV work with or without window (a multi stunderd (pal-ntsc-secam) tv tuner card)
and as a VCR (has the ability of dvr with or without window)
and as a CD/DVD drive (with or without windows of course)
and as a receiver Satellite (DVB digital and analog RECEIVER card sorts) with or without window
    and as a computer course

before 2 years when they announced Toshiba Qosmio international worm. I said that, it is
but now I'am not certain this is what I want to or not because what I hear users is do not internationally function as all TVs available now with the exception of the country of purchase.
and the digital DVB tuner is just DVB - T.

I heard that a talk about capacity dvr Qosmio is it good or not?
and the CD/DVD qosmio player is cloudy! everyone uses sony ps2 to play CDs DVDs. After dvd player and windows pc.

I read on the other no Toshiba laptop it's ok for pc portable av, but I think it will be better than
Toshiba qosmio with pc tv tuner card.

I want to watch one edition & recoreding (with or without) windwos in a laptop.
and I will not buy qosmio or another unit with external cards and devices just to do the job!

My Question is what is good for & what is not good for?
What is the advantages & disadvantages of qosmio?
What is the best model of qosmio?
can I put external cards and devices in qosmio and multimedia work as a better laptop?

If it please help me tell me what I want or not?
A laptop is better than the Qosmio or other similar devices?
What is the best external cards and compatible with qosmio devices?

Give me your advice and experiences with qosmio and thanks in advance for your answers.

    Hello

I only ever saw a computer laptop with everything you needed (desired) functions and features.
The Qosmio laptop is a high-end device and you can watch TV (digital TV signal case). The Qosmio support the Qosmio player. This feature allows you to play movies, music, etc, not to mention windows.
It supports the PCMCIA port, and you can use another type of PCMICA cards with different functions.

You asked for the best Qosmio. Well, the new Qosmio series at the moment is a G30 and F30.
You should check the properties of this two Qosmio series.
As a general rule, in my opinion, it's a good choice to use the Qosmio. But you know it's your choice.

  • My laptop XP Pro stops automatically while browsing.

    Hello

I use HP 540 laptop with Win XP Pro. Today I was browsing the Internet using Firefox worm 18.0.2 and when I clicked on a link of the ad, I got an alert from Norton Internet Security 2012 that he blocked an unauthorized access. In the 'history', it shows as 'Authorized access blocked (Duplicate Object)'. But because I trusted at this link, I tried to access it again by opening it in a new window. I was able to do. But, later on my computer has been automatically shut down without prompting. I have not noticed any blue screen error. Note that he has not restarted, it stopped just. I tried to restart the computer, and he started the startup process. But, before I could get the Windows Logo screen (maybe just after the POST), he was again arrested automatically. This has happened two times or three times. So, I tried not to start it again. Instead, I've disconnected my hard drive WD Ext. and the computer USB Dongle (Internet) and removed the battery then re-inserted it and then tried to start the computer. Now, I was able to start the computer successfully.

After logging on to the computer, I checked the Mini Dump file in the computer to find if there is a new dump files created. But there is no new dump file. So, I check the event viewer. He was showing 3 error under "system". The descriptions here it is:

    (1) the Reliance Netconnect. CUO service failed to start due to the following error:
The service has failed to demand launch or timely control.

    (2) the GamingWonderlandService service failed to start due to the following error:
The system does not have the specified path.

    (3) time (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the Reliance Netconnect. FM service to connect.

Please let me know the reason for this unexpected closure down from my XP computer. I will be happy to provide you with any information you guys require. Is there another way by which I can check for the details of the error that caused my laptop to close unexpectedly.

    Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft Community forums.

From your post, it seems that you were unable to boot up to the desktop successfully. But now it works fine.

    1. what was the link to the announcement on?

    2. is this the same question appear if you're using Internet Explorer?

When you get this error "the service did not demand launch or timely control" means that theService of Base class calls the OnStop method directly from the Service command handler that is defined in the ScDispatcherLoop of the Advapi32.dll file. After 30 seconds, if the ScDispatcherLoop thread is not ready to receive a new order of service from service control manager, Windows brand services controller out service as 'time '.

FIX: You receive an "error 1053: the service has failed to demand launch or control in a timely" error message when you stop or pause a managed Windows service.

  • A horse of Trojan/worm trashed my netbook. The only solution was to reformat. I have a genuine certificate of authenticity. I can't activate XP home

A horse of Trojan/worm trashed my netbook. The only solution was to reformat. I have a genuine certificate of authenticity. I reinstall XP home on a CD, but the key does not work. There are no disks with the laptop (samsung n110). Any thoughts that does not involve forced to part with $149 for W7?

The COA is on the underside of the netbook. The XP Home has been installed on the netbook when I bought new from PC World.

I assume that the CD (since your laptop is dead which replaces this netbook) I used has some other codes wired inside or MS think I'm installing twice when it should be used on a single machine. I thought that the COA was unique to my netbook and so proves that I am not pull a fast.

Samsung have this recovery application that has been blown away by the reformat.

Everything is new except activate my XP home.

I would upgrade to W7 to avoid this pain, but there is a recession on you know :)

    At latest

    I see now.

If you can get a generic XP Home OEM CD, you should be fine. (Yes, I'm aware that it may not be easy to find these days).

Netbooks are so problematic; I never want one!

Good luck with the Samsung forum.
