Would a 12-core 2.7GHz outperform a 3.5 GHz 6-core or 8-core 3.0GHz?

I am setting up a new MacPro for my superior video editor. I wonder if After Effect takes advantage of the multiple cores.

Would a 12-core 2.7GHz outperform a 3.5 GHz 6-core or 8-core 3.0GHz?

I will also get the option of video card more advanced GPU rendering and the max RAM of course.

My Publisher makes usually during lunch and in the evening.

That is a difficult question to answer for two reasons:

Not all the effects in AE using multiprocessing.  Some use a single core.  With a lot of stacked effects, it takes just a single effect make AE the entire stack on a carrot.  Kind of faster processors seem to be better.

However, Adobe to work hard to make EI more effective.  They say there is a new version coming soon that will use multiple cores better, so more hearts would seem to be the best in the long term.

If it was my machine, I'd go for 8 cores to cover my bases right now and add in a small scale - but scalability is always a shoot crap.

  • Mac Pro keeps stopping, lightweight CPU a / b overtemp on

I bought a used Apple Mac Pro 2.1 in December.  I use it mainly for editing my photos on Adobe PS, using filter of camera RAW.  The unit never gave me any problems, until early last week.  Here are the specs:

    | 8-CORE 3.0Ghz (2 x Quad-Core)

    | 32 GB OF RAM

    | 250 GB SSD

    | V RAM OF 4 GB GTX-680

    | Double BONE - El Capitan (primary) and Yosemite on two separate boot disks.

All started early last week, with an error screen when I open an CR2 on Adobe PS file.  I got this message...

"Camera Raw has temporarily disabled acceleration graphics processor because of the error." Update your graphics card driver may solve the problem. "Choose the option 'Use the graphics processor' in the dialog box Camera Raw prefer to re - enable GPU support.

In 5 minutes, I when preferences and choose 'use the graphics processor', then continued my work.  Subsequently, the Mac suddenly stops without any warning whatsoever! No message, no noise from the tower itself, the power light remained.  I then turned off the power.  I waited for a minute and he went back on.  The password screen, it would be closed again.

I then let the rest of the machine for 30-45 minutes, removed any buildup of dust inside using compressed air and turned on the unit return to perform minor troubleshooting. as well as other "light work" to avoid an overload of the system... He will stop in 35 minutes to turn on the machine.

Still, I unplugged everything (including the power cord) to reinstall the two riser cards. I powered the Mac with the access panel open, to keep an eye on something unusual.  All fans are smooth running, no sign of problems.  Until I updated the driver (Nvidia Cuda) GPU, the machine will stop again in 10 minutes!  Frustrated, I opened the side panel to only discover, both red lights (CPU A / B) on the section of the overheating of the logic board.  After the recharge time, I restarted the MAC and ran a tempature monitor I have installed.  I noticed the radiator of the Northbridge turned very quickly when I was running Adobe PS, please refer to the picture I have attached.

I have no idea what to do next.  I'm not sure if I need a replacement PSU, or something else entirely.  Pointers, help and/or advice.  I greatly appreciate it!

    Storm99,

Daniel has formulated a hypothesis unfortunately all wrong.

There are only 3 CPU for this computer, all the 25W. See your system specs here:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02822223

The max would be the Athlon II 270u (Regor) (25W) 2.0 GHz

  • HPC 2008R2 job template

I'm running an HPC cluster. The cluster consists of 3 compute nodes, each with 16 cores and 128 GB of RAM.
Normally when a user submits a job to the cluster, it assigns all the carrots of the node compute 1 (CN1). I would like to create a template so that when a job is submitted, he spread the carrots horizontally across all compute nodes. So, if a user submits a job that will use 12 cores, it would use 4 cores on each CN instead of the 12 hearts of the CN even. Is this possible? If so, how to configure it as a model?

  • Half-bridge scalable processor? HP dv7-4070us

Hi all, so, recently, I cleaned up my laptop (HP dv7-4070us) of the dust because I kept getting high time even idle. And during the process, I learned that the processor was not soldered on the motherboard, but was rather in a socket! That made me want to ask if it was theoretically possible to move from my current i5 - 350 M to something like processor i5 - 560 M. I know that I can not use the core i7 quad (although I really wish it) because it is quad core not the dual core that is currently in the system. Then it would be possible to upgrade or downgrade my processor. (in addition to the image and unlike bicoeur, I also understand that energy consumption would also limit me, so I think at this point, the highest upgrade would probably be the intel i5 - 580 M 2.66 GHZ?) Here are some of the information confirmed by the maintenance and repair for the computer guide laptop dv7. My apologies if this question may have been asked before and also for my noobness

    Hello:

Noob?  You sound like a pro.  You already know that you need a different motherboard to install a quad core.

You are right. You can install up to the i5 - 580 M. Plug-and-play.

I don't know why you would want to downgrade your current processor, but you can if you wish.

Make sure just do you a good job with the application of a new thermal pads or points of thermal paste on all contacts of heat sink so you don't overheat the poor laptop.

  • video tearing watching the HD video

    Video problem

I have a hp compaq dc7600 SFF with intel GMA 950, pentium 4 HT dual core 3.0GHZ and 2 GB ram and I'm pretty sure that this GPU is capable of up to 720 p videos, but even on lower quality videos video flies over and half top video is always a little ahead of the bottom in modes full screen

first of all, I would reinstall the software driver and video film from the place of origin.  There may be a version update available with a fix.

Secondly, I would then adjust the system by a check disk and Defrag.

Thirdly, I temporarily disable all startups and services non-microsoft via a clean boot and also disconnect from the internet during playback of the video.

If all goes well, trying all the above him video playback will be stable.   If Yes, then you can begin to try to understand of the above did the trick on your system.

If this isn't the case, then you will probably get graphics performance improved via the pci of high-end graphics card.

This thing is 11 years old. My best advice is to stop putting money into it. The difference between what you have and a p4 HT 3.4 will be not useful to open the side panel to install it. 2 GB of RAM is not enough for the internet and today's software.

Even if you can go to a flea market and find an old Core 2 Duo machine and swap in your drive hard and other things you would be at least in a machine, you can use.

  • PIX 515E failover

I have a pair of PIX 515E (6.3) running in failover mode. They are currently connected to a single chassis base. We are upgrading our network with the heart, dual 6500's. Is there a way to connect each PIX to a separate kernel (1 PIX - Core1, PIX 2 - Core2) to allow a failure of the base?

Core 1 and Core 2 will have a L2 link between them. If the current active PIX is connected to Core1 and Core 1 dies, this would not lead to support PIX failover. All LAN traffic would go through Core 2, but since he does not have an active path to the active PIX 1, traffic would drop. My reasoning is correct?

Is there a way to connect the PIX to two cores running V6.3?

    Hello

If you use the cable-based failover, you can change the basis of LAN failover.

    Read http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/pix/pix63/configuration/guide/failover.html#wp1024836

    I hope this helps.

  • Adobe Premiere using 99% of memory and freezing computer

    Hey all,.

I encountered a problem with Adobe Premiere use almost all of my computers from active memory. I use first very well for about two months and was in the middle of editing a video of 5 minutes. Usually, when I'm editing, in the Task Manager, he said I use about 4 k Mo of memory. Now all of the sudden opening of this project, I use 12 k Mo of memory. The project is delayed, stops responding and hangs my computer. I don't know what caused it. I have a laptop ASUS game that is more than capable of dealing with this software and it worked perfectly. Something to note is that all this happened last Friday, after that I updated the first. Any help finding this would be really appreciated!

  • Rendering and export failed with an unknown error because of the color of Lumetri?

I am rendering & export failures with an 'unknown error' code within Premiere Pro and Media Encoder.  I think that the problem is related to the Lumetri color filter that is widely used in all of the timeline.  There are hundreds of clips and each clip has 2-4 color filters Lumetri applied.  Each clip also has the red giant Cosmo and filter FilmConvert Pro 2.36.1 coming to overlap (visually underneath by order of effects filters Panel) all filters from Lumetri.  The reason why I believe that the problem is related to the Lumetri color filter is that it is the first time that I use.  Previously, I used the filter red giant Colorista III coloring, but last week decided to try using the Lumetri color for the same effect.

Please let me know if anyone has had similar experiences, what were their solutions, or if someone has some ideas on how to solve this problem.  I would really appreciate the help!

    System details:

    Windows Pro 64-bit 10

    Intel i7 5960 X 8-core 3.0GHz (cooled water and too quick to 4.2 GHz)

    64GB 2133 MHz DRAM (non-ECC)

2 x Nvidia GTX 980 4 GB GPUs (not in SLI)

Intel 750 PCIe 400 GB SSD (for BONES)

SSD Pro 1 TB Samsung 840 (for Adobe Cache)

SSD Pro 1 TB Samsung 840 (for export)

Matrix RAID 5 of 48 TB (eight 6 TB HDs with MegaRAID, LSI 9361-8i card) (for media)

    Information on the timeline:

1920 x 1080 (original video files are MP4 UHD scaled down by 50% in the timeline)

    23.976 fps

    CUDA Mercury Render Engine

    Length of the sequence: 14:30

I have discovered a workaround of sorts.  I noticed that when rendered in PP he would make progress before a failure (the green line that precedes the timeline would get a little longer).  If I saved this progress and rebooted the system, then tried to make it again, it would make a little further.  I've done this dozens of times for 4 hours make completely a 14:30 long sequence.

I noticed doing this routine that my CPU was maxxed on all rendered.  Resource monitor reported the use of CPU to 143% continuous (all other indicators RAM, disk speed, etc. were well under their maximums).  This brings me to suspect that maybe there is a problem with overheating of the CPU.  But who would be closed for the entire system, correct?

Once the entire sequence has been made (all the green lines above clips) I tried export by using the "Use preview files" option enabled.  Failure again.  I tried export uncompressed AVI, Quicktimes and PNG sequences.  All have failed.  I tried to export to PP as well as TEA.  The two have not.  I tried to export with option 'To make maximum quality' is enabled.  Surprisingly, this product the longest time encoding managed (32 minutes before failure).  As by chance, using the option of MRQ kept my CPU loads sawtoothing between 100% and 75%, then maybe there's something to the CPU overheating theory?

In an ultimate attempt desperate to save my video project (looming deadlines!) I divided the sequence of Assembly in five servings (I cut on the melted white or fade-to-black transitions) and exported to each of them.  This copy export times within 20 minutes.  It worked.

I noticed this another Adobe Forums thread that seems to speak of the similar difficulties with effects of Lumetri in Creative Cloud 2015.  Perhaps the Lumetri effects are not ready for prime time?

    https://forums.Adobe.com/thread/1236018?start=0 & tstart = 0

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas on this.  In the meantime, I'll wind up this project and never use Lumetri effects again.

    Hello Kevin,

Thank you for offering help to solve this problem.

I was able to export the majority of the sequence with all the Lumetri effects, red giant and FilmConvert mixed in clips.  After the sequence using the tedious method described above I segmented the sequence in the quarterfinals; all exported except one.  I divided it into two; Another exported doesn't have.  I cut half too, once again only half exported without failure.  I finally reduced the embarrassing part until a second sequence clips 35; an interview with green screen with superimposed titles and superposition of b-roll clips.

I removed all the effects of the Lumetri of these clips and replaced by Red Giant Colorista III effects, which are very similar to the effect of Lumetri in the GUI and application.  The sequence made completely without "unknown error."  Then it was exported successfully (and used about 70% when compared to more CPU activity 110% with the Lumetri to export).

The difference would be that the effect of color of Lumetri has this YUV icon next to it in the effect controls panel?  Which means that YUV?

The problem is perhaps not totally related to the color of Lumetri effect (as I said, I was able to export the majority of the 14:30 sequences use, although gradually by segmentation of the sequence into smaller portions), but if the move is a solution then I'll use it.

I lost a day to fix this.  If this thread is useful to someone else, then it was worthwhile.
