wrar371.exe 32-bit file will work on my 64-bit Vista Home Premium?

If I go through the misery of download and install a file 32-bit name wrar371.exe, is it unzip the files with the extension .rar on my 64-bit Vista Home Premium? I.e. it will unpack files with the .rar extension so that I can possibly run video I downloaded more than a week ago and have not yet been able to view.

    Hello

That's right; with Vista Home Premiun upgrade paths are for Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate.

It is one of the reasons why you should do a clean install.

The other reason is that you can NOT put 32-bit to 64-bit.

You need a clean install to do.

Follow these steps before you install or buy Windows 7:

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

  • Swap from 32-bit to 64-bit Vista Home Premium DVD

    Hi all

I have a HP Pavilion dv5-1009tx Entertainment delivered PC preloaded with Vista Home Premium 32 bit. The PC is still under warranty. I want to trade the 32-bit Vista Home Premium which is already installed on the PC with 64-bit Vista Home Premium. For this I would need the 64-bit Vista DVD from HP. Can someone tell me what is better, easier and faster way to get the DVD? I don't want to download torrents etc., because you never know what are the files in them have been tempered with and you can end up installing.

    Thank you!

I have 4 GB RAM installed on this laptop. Currently, only 3.2 GB (approx.) is used. The only reson to install a 64 bit OS is to use all 4 GB of RAM. I run Virtual Machines on this laptop for test and training and to be able to use the full amount of RAM would allow me to run virtual machines very comfortably, without getting errors that your system is low on memory.

The speed and performance of this laptop on a 32 bit OS is pretty good. But as mentioned above, it would be good to use what you have.

I have finally manged to get the correct information from HP. They called from their Sydney office and was told that for this particular model, is a 32-bit Vista Home Premium OS pre-loaded on my laptop. They ship not this laptop with a 6-bit version of Vista Home Premium OS, so there is no recovery disk. The only option of 64 bit with this HP laptop is Vista Ultimate, for which I have to buy a license.

So ultimately it information, getting the right information at the right time, otherwise you might end up you are looking for the right things in the wrong places. (It took me 3 times to chat with someone online, called several times HP Service Center, Technical Support, and finally the Service Center people did someone call me Office in Sydney).

Although of course, the CD-ROM drive worked during the upgrade.
I noticed that when I turn firstly on the laptop, the last two lines of the front entry from Windows 7 are the following.
PXE - E6i:Media Test Failure, Check Cable
PXE - MOF: Exit PXE Rom
During the audit of each Properties in Device Manager devices", I learned that they both work correctly.  In the list in the printers and the @Devices the only Webcam shown is also a "USB 2.0 Camera"
    Can someone help me please?
    Best regards

    Besides what abdelhak says:

The message of PXE boot that you receive when you start your computer has nothing to do with your CD/DVD-Rom drive. Your computer uses a PXE boot method to attempt to load Windows from a location on your network. Since you do not have this configuration, it is safe to ignore it. If it slows down the startup time of your system, contact your manufacturer and ask them for instructions on how to "disable PXE Network Boot of the BIOS.

  • 32-bit Vista Home Premium - Library visual basic runtime C++ crash Explorer.exe

    Friends,

By inspecting some messages on the map, I saw this error discussed before, but not in this context.

Background: Running 32 - bit Windows Vista Home Premium (SP2) on an of Gateway GM5664 desktop (2.3 GB AMD Quad - core CPU with 3 GB of RAM). Firefox is the main browser.
All the latest updates Vista suggested by the operating system have been installed successfully (through 14/08/09). McAfee and Dr. Web scanner revealed no problems with malware as of yesterday.
Latest video drivers Radeon Catalyst are installed.

Situation: I tried to access the directory where my iTunes library using Windows Explorer.  Like Explorer treats files in the appropriate subdirectory, the system crashes with the following message is displayed:

"Error running in explorer.exe. The application requires the execution to terminate in an unusual way. Contact the application support team
For more information. "It indicates the nature of the error as something related to Visual Basic C++

I downloaded a couple of freeware registry cleaners and they have corrected many errors of registry, however, the phenomenon persists. When I downloaded
a registry-setting product commercial (Quad Registry Cleaner), after a preliminary analysis, it is referring to several errors more than the freeware version captures, the most common being the empty registry keys.  It is better to spend the money to buy a commercial registry cleaner, or are there other solutions to try first.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    -Wally

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Registry cleaners are full and complete trash!  They do a lot more damage, then they fix NEVER actually!  Especially if you use more than one!  They are all ready to go to look for competing software, and delete the registry keys!  You give a perfect example of the typical scam, a free version, find the errors that only the product of tax can fix!  It is complete and total garbage!  The first thing you need to do is run the System File Checker.  You do this from an elevated command prompt (right click and select run as administrator).  then type: sfc/scannow which allow to run and to try and correct problems detected with your system files.  But for the love of goodness, fake registry cleaners clear Czar.  Believe me, they are nothing but trouble!  Locutys of Borg

    Resistance is futile

  • Will be able to upgrade my Vista Home Premium, 32-bit Windows7 computer refuses to upgrade to SP2?

Microsoft told me I can improve my Vista Home Premium to the Enterprise version of Windows7, but it will be a "clean install" (install uninstall complete.).  Should I wait for problems if my computer will not upgrade to Vista Service Pack 2? (I tried all kinds of solutions Microsoft FixIt and Disc Check).

    Hello

1 have. what troubleshooting measures you tried?

    2. do you get any error code or error message by updating to service pack 2?

If you can not upgrade to Service Pack 2 for Vista which should not cause concerns to a clean install of Windows 7 and you should be able to do well.

I suggest that you run Upgrade Advisor before you start the installation of Windows 7.

  • Problems of 64-bit Vista Home Premium, Ultimate upgrade

I recently bought a laptop HP Pavilion dv4-1144us with 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium (with SP1) pre-installed electronics Fry as well as a copy of the upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (with SP1) because I need to the ability to connect to a domain when using the laptop at work.  After installing Office 2007 Standard and by ensuring that the new Windows Vista laptop basically work, I tried to run the installation from the Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit Upgrade disk and found that, after an hour or two of an upgrade treat it to race end in a non-descript "cannot upgrade one or more components.  Error Windows will restart and cancel the upgrade. ", after which he ends by turn to Vista Home Premium.

After doing a little research online (on TechArena) and I have re-tried the upgrade again after:

In Control Panel-> programs and features:

    -Deactivation of Microsoft.NET Framework 3.0

    -Disable remote differential Compression

-Deactivation of the replication DFS Windows Service

Disable Norton Virus and Internet Security software pre-installed

Disable the Windows Firewall and defender.

    Uninstalling Quicktime and AIM.

Disconnect all other devices to a USB mouse.

However when "Compatibility Check" of the upgrade at the beginning, he warn a problem with a filter 'keyboard '.

(no further details) which I think can refer to the HP software that implement quick launch the laptop keys.

So I downloaded and installed the latest version of the HP Quick Launch Button drivers on the HP Support page:

    ' HP Quick Launch buttons Date: 08/2008 Version: 6.40.8.2 H size: 20.97 M

and I tried again, but still without success.

Note: I can not run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor, as recommended because it does not work on Vista 64 bit.

However, there are standard HP and Microsoft Vista + Office + MessengerLive software installed only at this stage.

Are there additional clues on what to try next?  Has anyone experience this problem?

    -Greg

You can try to uninstall the filter on the keyboard until the upgrade is complete...  In Device Manager, go to 'View' and select 'show hidden devices and then go down to "Non-Plug and Play drivers" and made a right click on the keyboard/HID filter drivers and uninstall (remove also the softare upon request).

  • Unable to scan or copy with my Lexmark x 5650 on 32 bit Vista Home premium

So initially the installation, I had no problem with my Lexmark x 5650 printer, but in the last 3-4 months, I can't scan. She was driving me bananas more recently as I uninstalled it and reinstalled the software and drivers repetively, changed and changed the settings of the back over and over again and search forums for anything will do. I think even just buy a new printer altogether, as the headache of it does not seem worth when well even I got it since last Christmas.

    the facts:

    I have a printer all-in-one lexmark, model x 5650

I have an intel pentium D running Vista Home premium 32-bit

I have automatic updates of windows.

    I can print.

I have never tried the fax.

    I can't scan.

I can't copy with the lexmark productivity studio application, but I cannot directly from the printer.

If I select scan directly from the printer, it just says: "downloading application list" but it never downloads.

When you use the Lexmark productivity Studio scan option, I get an error that says "scan failed. Try these solutions - make sure that the printer's power on and ready. -Make sure that the front usb port is not connected. -Disconnect and reconnect the usb cable. -Disconnect and reconnect the printer power cable. -Restart your computer. For any additional help, use the Lexmark service center. "but none of that actually works.

If anyone has the answers to this madness, it would be greatly appreciated, because I can't scan and it makes my heart hurt. Thank you.

I had the problem of the 'Application download list' with the similar X 4550 wireless printer. If you have downloaded the drivers and firmware from the website (this even if they seem to be the same versions that you already have), this procedure was the only way to get the scanner working again.

    • Find the IP address of the printer (see page 129 of the http://www.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/2007/5600-6600/v7677571_en.pdf manual)
    • Enter the IP address in the address bar of your browser and press enter
    • You should now have a Lexmark administration page. Click on Configuration
    • Click scan to network host management
    • Check delete all registered guests
    • Click Remove
    • Power switch and the

If all goes well, you should find something similar for your printer.

I installed SP2 on my Vista Home Premium computer.  I have a HP Pavilion dv6646us that comes with 2 GB of RAM.  I want to switch to 4 GB, as my computer has been slowing down lately.  The Task Manager icon has had 100% CPU usage.  I read that a 32-bit system reads no more than 3 GB of RAM, but when I did a scan of the system, it was recommended, I'm going up to 4 GB, and I know that the computer can take the physical memory up to 4 GB.  Should I go to 3 GB?  My computer will use the 4 GB?  Or I'm wasting money to no effect?

I bought a copy the retail of Windows 7 premium (updated version) upgrade on Vista Home Premium SP2on my 3 yr old HP Pavilion Desktop on 22/10/2009. Vista has been installed at the factory. I forgot the exact message, but it's like 'cannot be upgraded pc, abandoned process, will now restore the Vista installation. After this x 4-5 in the last seven days, I'm sick of what's going on. I've been building & PC repair & installation, configuration, and upgrade Windows since Windows 3.1 and Dos operating system. The Win 7 installation routine is so demanding that if all the program requirements are not met (for the latter)-it just stops and is abandoned. I've never had this kind of trouble before. NEVER Yes, I use the on-line support docs & Software Advisor compatibility. I've never seen an OS that just works! Absolutely amazing!  I also tried this on my computer Lenovo laptop lastnight - same thing!

    Hi Jim,.

Thanks for the information. You said you ran Upgrade Advisor several times on both machines. This show no error every time? Also, I would recommend unisntalling any antivirus that you have currently and to help clean up the provided utilities if any, of the antivirus manufacturer. In addition, unplug all unnecessary devices such as printer, network cable or any other devices you have.

Recently, I installed Crysis Warhead on my Vista (32-bit Home Premium) but it does not work. When I run the screen just go to the black screen and again back to windows but it has already run in the Task Manager and I can't close it. I have to restart windows to close. I have try on windows XP and it works properly. What is the problem? What should I do?

I would recommend that you update your graphics drivers and the DirectX runtime components to their latest versions. Try this:

    2. download and install the package of DirectX update
    3. after installation, restart your computer
    4. go on the site of the manufacturer of your PC or the manufacturer of your video adapter to obtain the latest version of the video driver
    5. download the package from their Web site and install them. Subsequently, you MUST restart your computer

  • My PC has been freezing on me. I am running 32-bit Vista Home Premium.

My PC has been freezing on me. Everything just hangs and I have to use the reset button. I don't know why its happening, but its very predictable and only occurs under very specific conditions.

It happens ONLY when I have "Shut Down", leave my computer off for at least a few hours and then turn it back on. It does not matter if I leave the power on or off. It will freeze in a few minutes to turn on my PC.

Once I use the reset button, it freezes more until I have stop and wait for a few hours yet.

If I stopped and turn it back on in a few minutes, it does not freeze. I haven't checked if pre-empting the gel by stopping before the Frost occurs prevents occur, I'll probably test the next time I have to leave my PC turned off for an extended period of time.

If I use "Restart", it does not freeze. Although an old problem with very a decrease in performance after using "Restart" is still there. (Note: it is a very old problem that I've never been able to fix,.) I took several technology experts, and may not understand what is the cause either, but I found a temporary solution. Using Shut Down and then turn the PC back returns performance back to normal. Occurs when a reboot occurs as a result of the update of Windows too, so I just avoid using any form of "Restart" whenever possible, but I have always been updated Windows. I think that its not related to this problem of gel.)

If I put it on sleep mode and come back after many hours, it does not seem to freeze. Recently, it froze once after that, but it didn't happen since then, so it might be a fluke.

I don't know what is happening. It happened very rarely over the past 2 years but only started happening every time in the last 3 months. Windows told me recently that he recovered from a blue screen when it happened, but this message appeared only once so far.

Whenever it freezes, I mean a period of activity of the HDD for about 2 seconds. And then read/write rhythmic sounds half lasting one second time per second, which continues for about 10 seconds. After that, the hard drive noise settle in a low kind of drone. I can barely hear the hard disk read or write something, but its much softer. It doesn't seem to change this State no matter how long I leave it.

I think its some sort of hardware failure that only happens when the PC components are 'cold', if that's even possible, but I can't be sure.

Speculation as to what is the cause of software or hardware? If it's a hardware problem, is there a particular part of the PC which would cause it to freeze predictable in such a specific circumstance?

I use mode sees as a temporary solution instead of closing my PC, but I fear that the problem will be extended later.

My motherboard is old enough that my CMOS battery is dying, it became apparent a month ago. I'll soon change the battery. I don't know if the problem might be related.

    Hello

Start by making sure that the software is running properly and change this battery CMOS ASAP.

And always make sure that the latest hardware drivers are downloaded and installed on your computer manufacturer's Web site.

Go to their site > drivers download section > your model number > operating system > drivers > download and install.
