Write ports PCI-6503

Hello everyone, I am totally new to this area.

I'm having a problem with a card PCI-6503, which runs in a PC with W98.

I instaled the driver NOR - DAQmx7.0 and I have developed a very simple application to test the sending of any signal by the ports of the Board of Directors. I tested the DAQmxCreateDOChan (taskHandle, "port0/Dev1","", DAQmx_Val_ChanForAllLines) write in a digital port function, but it always returns: "DAQmx error: device identifier is not valid (-200220).

So I have a few points I would like to check; in the application of the Measurement & Automation card PCI-6503 map appears as a traditional device so ¿Does it means that I have to use traditional drivers (libraries and functions like DIG_OUT_PRT) you can find in the: nidaq32.lib library instead of nor-DAmx libraries?

Thank you

Fernando

Hi Fernando

the first thing you should check is the name of your device in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) must be the same as the one you use on your application LabWindows. However, I realized that it might be a driver according to this knowledge base problem:

http://zone.NI.com/DevZone/CDA/tut/p/ID/6910#DIO

As you can see, the version of the DAQmx driver is 7.1. You can download it here:

http://Joule.NI.com/nidu/CDs/view/p/ID/790/lang/es

You can find your Council of the DAQmx 7.1 readme file, but you can't on 7.0. Check out this piece of information and see for your motherboard.

http://FTP.NI.com/support/softlib/multifunction_daq/nidaqmx/7.1/Readme.html

http://FTP.NI.com/support/softlib/multifunction_daq/nidaqmx/7.0/NI-daq_7_0_readme.htm

Let me know if an upgrade of the driver solves your problem. Suerte y a greeting.

Jesus.

I want to just save the .txt file if a pulse is received. I know how to create and write to the .txt file, but do not know how to write the DAQmx data in this file. Could someone help?

    Hi a2h,.

To only write when there is data emerging from the Daqmx read, you can use the table Emply?. VI to determine if there are real (like the pulse) from the unit and then data of yarn that a structure of case that will write to a text file in the case of false.

    Hi Scott,.

So, it seems that your card has been properly installed. Now, since your code does not seem to change the States of DIOs, we could try a few things.

    1. First, uninstall DAQmx so keep us just the NOR-DAQ traditional in the computer, since these screws DIO you mention on traditional DAQ.
    2. Try to change the State DIO in MAX using the Test panels. Check if they are actually switching.
    3. When you say that the problem lies in the screws, what exactly is the behavior that you are experiencing? Can join any error or the screenshot of the behavior code?

  • Read/write port DAQmx questions

    Environment

    Windows XP SP3

    LabView 7.1

    NOR-DAQmx 8.7.1

    (2) PCI-DIO-96 cards

I'm trying to move from the level of registry TDAQ programming DAQmx and give me an "intensive" in mx.  I'm not sure about a few things.

I need to put in place 20 channels/tasks that will run a mix of single, large port (8-bit) bed and written.  Some will be handshaking (82 c 55 mode 1) and some no handshake (82 c 55 mode 0).

The plan is to create all tasks during an initialization routine and save the names of global tasks.  I open the task after creation and use the globals during the main part of the program execution, when I make the reads/writes on the port.  The body can run for hours at a time.  When the main is closed, the stop routiine close all tasks to exit ahead.

Regarding the task creation/destruction - is it safe to create tasks and leave them open, or should they be created and destroyed every time that a write is performed?

Regarding the port reads/writes, I suppose that when a port single read/write is made, there is no established buffer.  Is this correct?  Specifically, if I use the method above and leave task open, is it possible saturation of buffer or something similar to happen?

    TIA

    Charlie

Regret - Yes, you said 7.1 - I can't keep back away, but here is a screenshot

And - the task is saved outside of LabVIEW, so it's not really 'Open' or 'Closed', even when programmatically, create and destroy jobs.  Tasks exist or do not exist.  If they exist and have no errors, they can be run.

Tampons are to move data to and from the device.  For static DIO, this isn't a problem.  You CAN run into problems with a task of acquiring buttons if it acquires data as soon as you read the data, but you can work around this by starting and stopping the task properly.

  • Maximum latency to read/write for PCI-DIO-32HS with NOR-DAQmx?

I was asked to evaluate using the PCI-DIO-32HS and NOR-DAQmx on MacOS X to essentially close a control loop.  My first concern is whether or not it can run fast enough.

So my questions are: what is the maximum latency from the moment of receiving a signal strobe reading data from external hardware, then read a single 16-bit sample and sending it upward by NOR-DAQ to a user space application?  And, similarly, what is the maximum latency of sending a unique 16-bit value from a space application user down through NOR-DAQ, then write a port and affirming a strobe signal of external-data writing material?

    Thank you.

    Hi AliasMe,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Forums EITHER!

Do you need to process the data in the software and generate a value on this basis?  DIO-32HS (alias PCI-6533) offers in the buffer of inputs and outputs, but you'd have a latency in your control system relying on the OS to do treatment.  Since this period is dependent on the system, I can't give a specification for the amount of time it would take.  However, integrating data in memory, processing and writing back to the card would likely be on the order of several milliseconds.

Generally, we recommend FPGA in situations of control like this, so you can do all the processing in hardware.  However, if provide you more details on your request we can look into all the options available.

  • is serial port pci and pci simple communications controllor used to and are they necessary as mine do not work

    would like to know!

    Hi William,.

    1. do you have a code error message when you click on the yellow Board?

    2. What is the brand and model of the computer/motherboard?

    3. which card has been inserted into the PCI slot?

PCI stands for Peripheral Component Interconnect. It's an industry standard bus to connect devices to a computer.

A serial port is a serial communication physical through transfers of information inside or outside a bit at a time. The term "serial port" usually identifies hardware more or less conforms to the RS-232 standard, designed to interface with a modem or a similar communication device. The serial port used to be widely used to connect to a variety of devices external and is essentially a two-way communication port. There are still devices using a serial port connection. These are often marked as RS232 and would include devices such as TELEVISION receiver cable boxes.

The PCI of Simple Communications controller is a generic label given by Windows for PCI cards installed in a PC when the drivers for the device are not installed.

You probably received this error because you have not installed the driver for your PCI device.

If your computer came with a motherboard driver disc, put the CD in and install the chipset drivers from Device Manager browse the CD. This would update the drivers for those devices.

    Steps to follow:

    a. right click on the entry in the Device Manager and select Properties.

    b. in the driver tab updated some drivers.

    c. Select Browse my computer for driver software.

    d. click on browse and look for DVD player option.

    e. follow the instructions on the screen and restart the computer after installing the drivers.

If you don't have the motherboard drivers CD then please download and install the chipset drivres for the manufacturer's website.

I hope this helps. If you have any other queries/issues related to Windows, write us and we will be happy to help you further.
