WRT54G/PS3 problems

Every time my PS3 goes to the main manu, she makes my router "hiccups" and disconnects for a fraction of second and mess up some programs on the computers connected to it. How can I get it to stop?

It of really a strange question, doesn't look like a router problem, but it could be...

Perhaps you use your router for some time and you have not upgraded the firmware... You should try to update firmware of your router in case, if this is related to your router...

Download the Firmware from here

Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware of the device: -.
Open a page in Internet Explorer browser on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1... Leave the name blank username & password use admin lowercase...
Click the 'Administration' tab - then click on the 'Upgrade Firmware' under the tab-here, click on 'Browse' and navigate the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait a few seconds until it shows that "the update is successful," after the upgrade of the firmware, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned to the same page OR it will say 'cannot display the Page.

Now reset your router:
Press and hold the button of reset for 30 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...

See if the same thing happens again...

I've been a loyal user of Linksys (CISCO) since the purchase of my 1 Access Point wireless router and 4-port Switch (BEFW1154 v2) in 08/2002. I upgraded to a Linksys Wireless - G Broadband Router (WRT54G v8.00.2) 11/2007. My home wireless network supports; IBM Thinkpad (Windows XP) and Lenovo Ideapad (Windows VISTA Home Premium). A month ago I started having disconnect problems with the WRT54G. The two laptops have been disconnect it. At first I disconnected the supply WRT54G for about 1 minute then plugged in. This has not solved the problem of disconnection. I then tried to unplug the cable modem and power WRT54G. Wait about 1 minute and then reconnect the cable modem, allowing it to reset and synchronization. Then I plugged the WRT54G. This temporarily solved the problem for a few minutes but the disconnection problem returned. I have reset the WRT54G Setup factory default and reconfigured it to my home network. The disconnection problem was not solved by taking this action. I contacted Cablevision that provides my broadband Internet access. They could not identify a root cause of the problem of disconnection. To determine whether the root cause was another thing that the WRT54G, I reinstalled the BEFW1154. I did have a problem of disconnection from taking this action leading me to believe that the WRT54G is bad. I would appreciate any suggestion that could solve the problem of disconnection with the exception of a suggestion to buy a new router. Thank you

  • DNS server for the WRT54GS v6 problem

This router running for 2 years without any problem (even on Windows7 since las year), recently it wont let me conect to the internet, network and say sharing that the configuration of the computer center are good but no response from the DNS server is present.

(Windows 7 RTM Ultimate x 86, Bellsouth / AT & T ISP in Florida.) Conexion ADSL, nine cables ethernet and material held in the best conditions, the network card: Realtek RTL8102E/RTL8103 Family PCI - E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20) (v7.2)

    What I tried:

Reset the router or modem (connected to a Westell 6100), in order to define the default settings and (based on the Web reset and reset buttons)

    Flushing IP in CMD

Make the web based configuration for my WRT54GS v6, releasing DCHP, renewing, defaults, etc...

Upgrade the firmware to v1.52.7 (latest) nothing helps, dating back to 1.52.6 original.

Shows Device Manager hardware works correctly.

Windows 7 show me a link to view the properties of my WRT54GS when I right click on it, I also see the "Enable" option, but every time I use it I get "Connection Failed!"

I'm not much of a tech guy, and read the forum does not help me a lot, so I ask for help please.

PS: CD installed by default for her with her old EasyLink Advisor without success, tried also the last 2 Lela EasyLink Advisor, nothing helps.

In addition, there is no default gateway glancing an IPCONFIG in CMD and now there is (192.168.1.1), which I use to enter its web-based configuration.

That your ISP is a DSL provider, most of the DSL Modem has a DHCP server on them, so they act as a router. From now you the type of connection is NAT behind NAT.

Order for your Linksys router to work with a DSL Modem. Connect to the Linksys router and on the Configuration tab configuration page, you must modify the "local IP address" to 192.168.2.1 and click on save settings...

Once the settings are saved, unplug the power to the router and Modem, wait 30 seconds and then plug in the power to the Modem, and once all the lights are cover then you can connect the power supply to the router and check if you are online.

  • WRT54GS ROUTER PROBLEM

I HAVE A WRT54GS ROUTER. TRIED TO PUT IN PLACE. AFTER DOING SO, IT NOT CONNECTING A WIRELESS LESS I CONNECT TO A HIGH SPEED ON THE CONPUTER CONNECTION. SO, IN SUMMARY, FOR A WIRELESS CONNECTION, I MUST FIRST CONNECT TO A HIGH SPEED CONNECTION ON MY LAPTOP THEN CLICK ON CONNECTION WIRELESS AND PLUG THAT IN TOO. THEN EVERYTHING WORKS FINE. OR IS NOT CONNECTED WILL NOT LET THIS WORK. AND YES I'M NOT CONNECTED AT ALL TIMES.

    Thank you

I see. Do you remember your username and password?

You need the router to do the PPPoE authentication rather than on your computer. In this way, you don't have to click on the broadband.

Connect to the router configuration page and follow this procedure. Start with step 7.

  • WRT54G v4 - problems

Hi all.  Hope someone can give me a hand.  The router is connected to a PC running Windows Vista (for the last 5 months), wireless machine is a Windows XP.  Tried to connect to I-net - nothing!  Has been through all the scenarios of "reset" the router and the cable modem.  No solution.  I have-net works well connected directly to the modem.  Because I had this problem B4, checked firmware online but, based on the release date, I think I have the current version. So, contacted Linksys, only to discover that they believe my router can be "fixed", it cost me $40 to purchase an extended warranty for the next 6 months.  I guess in this economy, they try to make money wherever they can.  Of course, my thought is to just buy a new router (which will give me a year of free technical support) and not buy the deal for 6 months - although of course there is an easy solution to my problem.  Once again, thank you for any help.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I should have checked back sooner, but I solved the problem.  I downloaded the Linksys Advisor and went down through it to get my router online.  I did not update the firmware and was not be allowed access to the router through the 192... the installation program.  Had to go through the Adviser.

  • WRT54GS connection problem

Disconnected last night and everything was fine...  Could not connect to the Internet today...  If I bypass the router, I can connect via my cable modem.

When going through the router, I get an IP address, an address of a default gateway and DNS1 and address DNS1.  I can't ping the default gateway, DNS1 and DNS2.  The default gateway is a different address when I bypass the router.  When I bypassed the router, I can ping the two default gateway addresses.

    Any ideas?

Who is your Internet service provider...?

Do you get the problem on the computer by cable or wireless computer...?

If you found the problem on the wireless computer, try to disconnect and reconnect the network wireless on the computer. Now, check the ip address and try to make a ping to the gateway & DNS.

If you have found the issue with the connected computer, then try to reset the router for 30 seconds, power cycle the router and then try to ping the gateway.

  • RV 120W - problems with PS3

    Hi guys,.

I have some problems to connect my PS3 to my RV120W.

Router and PS3 have the latest firmwares. They are connected via wi - fi (distance about 10 mt, signal is good).

IP of the PS3 is in DMZ (connection does not work with only Upnp), and ip fragmentation is turned on.

Everything seems to work (type NAT 2), but the download on PS3 is slow as hell. My ADSl is a 6Mb, download speed on PS3 looks like more than ten times lower (I do not know how to test it...). A patch of 200 MB download is a torture.

Two of my PC are connected wireless, so I guess that wi - fi is not the problem.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Configuration wireless router WRT54G without CD - problems with manual installation

Hello.  I have a WRT54G Router that I've used over the years, because my former cable provider provided me with the router.  I recently switched to cable operators & they do not provide a wireless routers.  I would use my WRT54G Router, but I don't have the cd.  I thought that it wasn't a problem because I can just do a manual installation using the 192.168.1.1 ip address.  I get the pop up window to enter user name & password.  I followed the instructions & just type in the word admin password field & l left the user name empty, but it does not work.  Can someone please?  I know that I can solve this problem.  It is not sensible to spend money for another router when this can be a simple solution.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Press and hold the reset on the back for 30 seconds and then release.  Wait 10 seconds and power cycle.  Now, try again.
