WRT54G disconnect problem

I've been a loyal user of Linksys (CISCO) since the purchase of my 1 Access Point wireless router and 4-port Switch (BEFW1154 v2) in 08/2002. I upgraded to a Linksys Wireless - G Broadband Router (WRT54G v8.00.2) 11/2007. My home wireless network supports; IBM Thinkpad (Windows XP) and Lenovo Ideapad (Windows VISTA Home Premium). A month ago I started having disconnect problems with the WRT54G. The two laptops have been disconnect it. At first I disconnected the supply WRT54G for about 1 minute then plugged in. This has not solved the problem of disconnection. I then tried to unplug the cable modem and power WRT54G. Wait about 1 minute and then reconnect the cable modem, allowing it to reset and synchronization. Then I plugged the WRT54G. This temporarily solved the problem for a few minutes but the disconnection problem returned. I have reset the WRT54G Setup factory default and reconfigured it to my home network. The disconnection problem was not solved by taking this action. I contacted Cablevision that provides my broadband Internet access. They could not identify a root cause of the problem of disconnection. To determine whether the root cause was another thing that the WRT54G, I reinstalled the BEFW1154. I did have a problem of disconnection from taking this action leading me to believe that the WRT54G is bad. I would appreciate any suggestion that could solve the problem of disconnection with the exception of a suggestion to buy a new router. Thank you

Good to hear that!

In your case I would first update the WiFi drivers. You can find it on the Toshiba site and Akuma already post the link.

If you use Vista on your laptop, you must turn off the power save for the WLAN. This Toshiba document could be useful for you:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD84026Q0000R01.htm

Make sure the router and the laptop using the same standard WiFi, 802.11 g for example.

Last but not least try to update the BIOS.

I read often in the forum a driver and/or BIOS update is to fix the problem if it s worth a try. ;)

  • Connect disconnect problem (SL 500, windows7)

    Hello friends,

I am facing a weird problem with my 500 SL with Windows 7 (I also lucid Linux installed on the system).

(Note: my laptop came with Vista)

As I begin my computer after it was closed (and NOT for a reboot) it keeps beeping sound from the start connect-disconnect power until I have completely load the operating system. (independent of windows or ubuntu) But after startup is complete he stops himself and he went after it. Anyone faced this problem? All thought it might be because?

Some observations and comments on my machine.

    1. this product only when I start and the machine not on reboot.

    2. my vista has been currepted earlier. s I reinstalled using an another OEM my volume keys and the thinkvantage (blue) button does not work since then. (This beeper number is one or two weeks now)

    3. I noticed a little slow start for 7 but still all right.

    4. I have thinkvantage Manager of power installed. (It shows connected and disconnected when the ringing lights)

    5. my battery is old enough has around 30-40 min capacity.

Could be it is bad, or the power port where it connects. Only way to check is by connecting another adapter compatible lenovo (good).

  • Wi - Fi disconnection problems

    Hello

My desktop computer, running Windows XP Home Edition, has recently started disconnect frequently and without warning my wireless network.  Two days ago, he finally lost the connection permanently, and I was not able to recover.  I'm not tech-savvy, so I do not know what information will be useful to you, I'll give you everything I can.  I have AVG Internet Security and I also have System Mechanic.  I ran virus checks, cleaned my browser cache and defragged my hard drive.  I tried to remove and then re - enter my wireless network information, and I had my landlord also press the reset on the modem.  None of these things helped him.  I borrowed a laptop which has no problem connecting to the network without wire right next to my office, it seems unlikely that it is a problem of signal strength.

Please let me know what I should be looking to try or what information would be useful for you.

    Thanks a ton,
    Steph

  • WRT54GS connection problem

Disconnected last night and everything was fine...  Could not connect to the Internet today...  If I bypass the router, I can connect via my cable modem.

When going through the router, I get an IP address, an address of a default gateway and DNS1 and address DNS1.  I can't ping the default gateway, DNS1 and DNS2.  The default gateway is a different address when I bypass the router.  When I bypassed the router, I can ping the two default gateway addresses.

    Any ideas?

Who is your Internet service provider...?

Do you get the problem on the computer by cable or wireless computer...?

If you found the problem on the wireless computer, try to disconnect and reconnect the network wireless on the computer. Now, check the ip address and try to make a ping to the gateway & DNS.

If you have found the issue with the connected computer, then try to reset the router for 30 seconds, power cycle the router and then try to ping the gateway.

  • BEFSR41 V 4.3 disconnection problems

All THE firmware / drivers / etc are completely up to date.

I have the router connected to a modem DSL Motorola 2210-02 (1002 firmware) in bridged Ethernet mode. The router is connected to my computer running Windows XP Professional x 64 SP2 and computer from my wife who runs Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit). We have no problem with internet browsing via Firefox (and IE) and using most of the other internet software dependent if necessary (the P2P clients, instant messaging, etc.).

Play us World of Warcraft and usually have no problems. Whenever we are in large groups (known as raids), we tend to have disconnect issues. The issue is not that we are disconnected from the servers of World of Warcraft, we are disconnected from the Internet completely. We use a Ventrilo for voice chat and it is disconnected at the same time. However, it is tyipcally only a "hiccup" that we are able to reconnect immediately.

This happens if only one of us plays. Blizzard has been unable to help me find the problem, so I've resorted to posting here.

I had this EXACT problem using the same router model (but the 4.0 V) two years ago and had found a solution in the configuration of routers. I don't remember what I did over the years, but because of this I know that the problem is somewhere in the configuration and not in the firmware / drivers / Server editions / incompatabilities / etc.

    Any idea is appreciated.

    Thank you

    ~ Darxide

I put it to Keep Alive 180 second renew instead of Connect on Demand and it seems to have cleared up.

  • WRT54G/PS3 problems

Every time my PS3 goes to the main manu, she makes my router "hiccups" and disconnects for a fraction of second and mess up some programs on the computers connected to it. How can I get it to stop?

It of really a strange question, doesn't look like a router problem, but it could be...

Perhaps you use your router for some time and you have not upgraded the firmware... You should try to update firmware of your router in case, if this is related to your router...

    Download the Firmware from here

Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware of the device: -.
Open a page in Internet Explorer browser on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1... Leave the name blank username & password use admin lowercase...
Click the 'Administration' tab - then click on the 'Upgrade Firmware' under the tab-here, click on 'Browse' and navigate the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait a few seconds until it shows that "the update is successful," after the upgrade of the firmware, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned to the same page OR it will say 'cannot display the Page.

    Now reset your router:
Press and hold the button of reset for 30 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...

See if the same thing happens again...

  • DNS server for the WRT54GS v6 problem

This router running for 2 years without any problem (even on Windows7 since las year), recently it wont let me conect to the internet, network and say sharing that the configuration of the computer center are good but no response from the DNS server is present.

(Windows 7 RTM Ultimate x 86, Bellsouth / AT & T ISP in Florida.) Conexion ADSL, nine cables ethernet and material held in the best conditions, the network card: Realtek RTL8102E/RTL8103 Family PCI - E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20) (v7.2)

    ================================================================================

    What I tried:

Reset the router or modem (connected to a Westell 6100), in order to define the default settings and (based on the Web reset and reset buttons)

    Flushing IP in CMD

Make the web based configuration for my WRT54GS v6, releasing DCHP, renewing, defaults, etc...

Upgrade the firmware to v1.52.7 (latest) nothing helps, dating back to 1.52.6 original.

Shows Device Manager hardware works correctly.

Windows 7 show me a link to view the properties of my WRT54GS when I right click on it, I also see the "Enable" option, but every time I use it I get "Connection Failed!"

    ===========================================================================================

I'm not much of a tech guy, and read the forum does not help me a lot, so I ask for help please.

PS: CD installed by default for her with her old EasyLink Advisor without success, tried also the last 2 Lela EasyLink Advisor, nothing helps.

In addition, there is no default gateway glancing an IPCONFIG in CMD and now there is (192.168.1.1), which I use to enter its web-based configuration.

That your ISP is a DSL provider, most of the DSL Modem has a DHCP server on them, so they act as a router. From now you the type of connection is NAT behind NAT.

Order for your Linksys router to work with a DSL Modem. Connect to the Linksys router and on the Configuration tab configuration page, you must modify the "local IP address" to 192.168.2.1 and click on save settings...

Once the settings are saved, unplug the power to the router and Modem, wait 30 seconds and then plug in the power to the Modem, and once all the lights are cover then you can connect the power supply to the router and check if you are online.

  • Laptop HP 2000: HP laptop computer wifi disconnection problem

    Hello

I run my laptop on 2 networks, one of the House and another in my Coaching and both have the same network provider company. The problem is my computer laptop wifi disconeects several times in the network of Coaching and to reconnect I restart my system. But it doesnot disconnects on my network at home...

I want to clear that his only happens in my portable, not on any other laptop in coaching... Suggest me what should I do, I am not able to get rid of it after several method try...

    Hi @Pradeep_sfdc ,

Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you have problems to connect to a particular network. I'll be happy to help you. In General, when this happens there is a problem with the network itself because the laptop runs normally with the other network.

When you are connected to the network trial Coaching run the built-in Windows troubleshooting tool to see if it detects a problem. This document from HP, wireless network and Internet troubleshooting will show you how to do this.

I would say the power cycling your modem and router, I have included the following steps:

    Network power cycle:

    1. turn off your laptop.
    2. unplug the power to your router.
    3. disconnect the power to your modem.
    4. wait at least 45 seconds.
5 reconnect the modem and wait for it to come back online.
6 plug in the router and wait for it to come back online.
    7. turn on your laptop and test your connection.

If nothing else works, then I suggest that you contact your internet service provider because the router or the modem would need a firmware update or a later version.

  • VCS DISCONNECTION PROBLEM

I have assistance who need the situation on VCS running X7.2 version.

I can't kill a call that was for days... When I try to disconnect there. When I look at details is States 'cancellation', but does not die.

Any ideas... The call comes from a neighbor, I put in place with other VCS.

I haven't restarted the system in more than 196 days.   I have a few other calls via the old 20hours and they specify also (cancellation).

I also called the site hosting the other VCS and without registration it has do with the information I have on my VCS.

Ideas also if I SSH in the area what is the command line syntax to perhaps force disconnection it?

We saw the problem similar and same weird outdated records. A reboot of the VCS solved the question - of course, this is not ideal, but it only a computer!

  • Module Event - connection/disconnection problem

    Hi all

I created a subdomain http://trade.primealarms.UK at the present time users log into this fine.  When they go to sign up for a primealarms.worldsecuresystems.com event disconnects users so that they have to each connection or fill in their details.

Has anyone previously met or had problems with subdomains and can point me in the right direction?

Any help would be greatly received.

    Thank you

    Tom Kelly

    Robert not quite right.

If you have configured the form of connection with sponsor on this connection correctly BC will ensure that you stay connected when you access both secure pages.

If you actually insert a login in British Colombia now form the form action would be something like this:

    https://YOURSITE.worldsecuresystems.com/ZoneProcess.aspx?ZoneID=5784&Referrer={module_siteUrl, true, true}

This will ensure that you are connected to both ends of the site areas.

    Tom, your login account ZoneProcess.aspx?

  • Satellite A-L50-19N WiFi disconnection problem

Yesterday I bought this computer with Windows 8.1 installed. After each start, is to have the connection for a few minutes, then it always disconnects. It shows that the internet connection is active, but are not open pages in a browser. I tried updates drivers and nothing helped.

    Thanks for the tips.

    > It shows again that the internet connection is active, but are not open pages in a browser.

    (1) have you tested the internet connection using different internet browsers?
    I recommend doing this.

    (2) did you notice that this internet issues using the laptop with battery only or also running to the power outlet?

    (3) the laptop was equipped with an Atheros WB335 wireless network card. Try to update the driver WLan too.

  • WRT54GS ROUTER PROBLEM

I HAVE A WRT54GS ROUTER. TRIED TO PUT IN PLACE. AFTER DOING SO, IT NOT CONNECTING A WIRELESS LESS I CONNECT TO A HIGH SPEED ON THE CONPUTER CONNECTION. SO, IN SUMMARY, FOR A WIRELESS CONNECTION, I MUST FIRST CONNECT TO A HIGH SPEED CONNECTION ON MY LAPTOP THEN CLICK ON CONNECTION WIRELESS AND PLUG THAT IN TOO. THEN EVERYTHING WORKS FINE. OR IS NOT CONNECTED WILL NOT LET THIS WORK. AND YES I'M NOT CONNECTED AT ALL TIMES.

    Thank you

I see. Do you remember your username and password?

You need the router to do the PPPoE authentication rather than on your computer. In this way, you don't have to click on the broadband.

Connect to the router configuration page and follow this procedure. Start with step 7.

  • WRT54G v4 - problems

Hi all.  Hope someone can give me a hand.  The router is connected to a PC running Windows Vista (for the last 5 months), wireless machine is a Windows XP.  Tried to connect to I-net - nothing!  Has been through all the scenarios of "reset" the router and the cable modem.  No solution.  I have-net works well connected directly to the modem.  Because I had this problem B4, checked firmware online but, based on the release date, I think I have the current version. So, contacted Linksys, only to discover that they believe my router can be "fixed", it cost me $40 to purchase an extended warranty for the next 6 months.  I guess in this economy, they try to make money wherever they can.  Of course, my thought is to just buy a new router (which will give me a year of free technical support) and not buy the deal for 6 months - although of course there is an easy solution to my problem.  Once again, thank you for any help.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I should have checked back sooner, but I solved the problem.  I downloaded the Linksys Advisor and went down through it to get my router online.  I did not update the firmware and was not be allowed access to the router through the 192... the installation program.  Had to go through the Adviser.
