WRT54GS limits bandwidth

I run a bandwidth test, measurement of the speed from my ISP in Los Angeles with different configurations on speedtest.net.

My setup is that my PC connects to router Linksys WRT54GS v.4 via a Cat 5 cable, which in turn connects to a modem cable Motorola.

If I connect my PC directly to the cable modem (bypassing the router) I get this speed:

If I connect my PC to the router that connects to the cable modem, I get this speed:

To be sure, I disabled the wireless and not had a single PC to connect to the router. I even updated the firmware on the Linksys router to the latest version. I always get the same result before and after the upgrade.

If anyone else has noticed this? The Linksys router limits the bandwidth of my cable modem?

Maybe it's time for me to get a new router?

-> Yes, the router, you can handle more than 10 Mbps speed.

-> No, if you get 20 Mbps in the router... you will not get accurate on the router.

You can try this...

Open an Internet Explorer browser on your computer (desktop) wired page. In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press ENTER... Let the empty user name & password use admin lowercase...

On the Configuration tab change MTU size to 1300, then click on save settings...

Check if it works for you... If not, I think its time to get a new router.

  • Svchost.exe constantly downloading stuff devours my limited bandwidth

Hello everyone, I am running Windows 7 and recently I had this problem with svchost.exe and hope someone here could help me fix. The problem is that my computer out of no where just begins downloading stuff (I don't know what it is download), I have a band bandwidth monitor (BitMeter) and have noticed these constant downloads. So I started researching on the internet and a small program called TCPView and found out that the downloads are caused by a program (I don't know which) using svchost.exe. TCPView I am able to put an end to the process, that said using the Task Manager these processes are not visible or accessible so my only chance to stop him is to use another TCP or process viewer. Also when I stop it is only temporary as it starts again after a few minutes.

I run the command (tasklist/SVC /fi "imagename eq svchost.exe") and found some inconsistency with the download market and without (after that I stopped it) and found it market/download Appinfo, BITS and Wuauserv serve I don't know what program uses this service, hope that helps. I can't afford to work because I have a little bit of bandwidth, I tried a few things like HiJackThis, Windows Defender, Avast Anti Virus, Norton Internet Security to name but a few, that I even restored my PC to the way it was when I bought it first, and none of them fixed my problem. Help please

Excuse my English/grammar, I'm a little frustrated now to try to keep this thing remotely, thanks in advance for your help

Its occur mainly because of BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service)

    Stop this service.

Go to Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services - Search BITS and stop the service by right-clicking on it and then click on stop. Also in the properties of this service select manual or disable.

You can update your windows at any time to activate whnevr u hv a connection inactive.

  • wnavga.exe download constantly things devours my limited bandwidth

Hello everyone, I am running Windows 7 and recently I had this problem with wnavga.exe and svchost.exe which always download something, how to remove this kind of unwanted download while I'm on the intenet.

    Hi Vignesh,

Thanks for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

If I understand correctly, wnavga.exe and svchost.exe consuming bandwidth. Not sorry will help you with the question.

    1. How do you know it is downloaded stuff?

    2. do you have security software installed on the computer?

The problem may occur if the files running need for more band width or due to the virus.

If you do not need/use any program, then you can uninstall it from Control Panel.

Let us try to scan the viruses on your computer using the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if it helps.

  • With the paid version - how many people can I send at the same time? Are there download limits (bandwidth or number of downloads of limitation)?

I have grown to hate Hightail and was trying to learn how Adobe to send by report - but the documentation is pathetic. I do webinars which means I can have a 200-400 people, will download the file. The paid version allows this? What is the maximum size and the maximum number of downloads?

As you can see other articles on this forum, we currently encounter some problems of very large files, especially over a slower internet connection. I suggest that you try to download these files to your account at https://cloud.acrobat.com and then create Public links from there. You can then distribute the Public links for your users to access the files.

  • Are there limits of 'bandwidth' BlueTooth?

Do not know if I use the right terminology here

I have a MBP 15 "of the retina mid-2015.  I am using a keyboard Apple BT, Logitech BT mouse (from the store) and headphones from Plantronics BackBeat Pro BT.  When all are connected, the sound on the headphones stutters.

Disabling the keyboard for example fix it.

Are there problems of bandwidth, or some sort of claim of radio frequency, be it, I can fix?  3 devices didn't want that many in today's world.

All communication channels have limited bandwidth.  The power of the sender to provide "strong enough" and the tolerance of the receiver (keyboards use sporadic interaction) will dictate the concurrency.  And as always... "your mileage may vary."

  • 10.11.4 bandwidth paralyzed - nsurlsessiond

Experts of the network have any ideas about this?

Something I noticed that broke after the 10.11.4 'Upgrade' is the constant consumption of my download bandwidth. My only machine has demolished the whole office and makes it impossible to send e-mails, browse the web, etc. Imagine if we went from a few machines?

I just spent the combined total of the 2 days of the problems caused by this 'upgrade' of fixing. It becomes tedious.

When Apple will finally realize that everyone not lives in California with unlimited to the internet down?

I thank God for Littlesnitch. I had to block the individual connections between nsurlsessiond and EU-irl - 00001.s3.amazonws.com, your connection may differ depending on the country. Yes it's true Apple appear to use by using servers of Amazon, but for the life of my I can not understand why the equivalent of 1.5 GB of MY DATA was transferred over the two days WITHOUT MY PERMISSION OR KNOWLEDGE.

Kill this unique connection has restored our bandwidth with no noticeable adverse effect on the use of the machine, I will update if anything changes.

What has been downloaded? I never signed a contract for my data be hosted on Amazon. Is it one thing iCloud, as they are moving the servers iCloud and instead of porting themselves they redirect users directly? I guess it's safe (I sure hope) but honestly, what a waste of bandwidth.

Apple become more sloppy in regards to sync services, especially for the millions of us who do not live in California and have limited bandwidth.

Other topics on this subject: nsurlsessiond - taking up all the bandwidth! Help?

Check things like iCloud Drive, iPhoto/Photos, Spotlight etc. suggestions to find the cause.

  • Problems of band bandwidth WRT120N and torrent

    Hey guys,.

I have a small problem and maybe you can help:

Tested to speedtouch.net my router shows a great download and upload rate (no difference between a direct connection and reouter). The problem is when I try to download something using a torrent client:

Without the router, I get more than 10 MB/s in a torrent download

With the router installed, I am max 2, 5 MB/s when you are downloading the same torrent

It's like he is to limit my download speed when it comes to torrents. I tried the static IP port and forwarding but it made things worse, of 2, 5 MB/s speed drops to 1, 8 MB/s.

If you have any ideas, or met the same problem that I did and managed to make it work please let me know how you did it.

    Thanks a lot guys

UPDATE: for all those like me who want to know what's happening, here it is: these routers have limited firmware (2-3 MB / s 6-8MB / s and wireless LAN).

There is nothing you can do to make better it (no parameters, no tweaking of any kind). They are built like that for stability, or what they say. Only the WRT54GL model and beyond to allow you to put a firmware open source which allows you to increase the speed a little.

PS Don't worry your router isn't broken, no mather what linksys support guys, this is the only firmware limited bandwidth (all routers and their original firmware this limitation) and they will never tell you that they will propose to replace it and get a new one instead.

  • 9 use of the bandwidth of Captivate

Anyone know an easy way to track the use of bandwidth for Captivate courses, or is there a line course Director for how much bandwidth use? We are in an environment in which some areas have very limited bandwidth and cannot play our course, even without audio or video included.

I am not interested in tips to reduce the size of classes, just some numbers bandwidth usage I can give network administrators. Thank you!

Have you tried to download on SCORM cloud?

I think they have performance statistics generated after the course has been viewed which could provide the base you are looking for.

You should also consider the LMS you use will also have an impact on performance for your users.

A user at each location could run a 'speed test' to check the upload and download bandwidth they know. This could also be useful to your network administrators to have a conversation with your service provider.

  • My repertoire is not now responsible to the vehicle (VW Golf GTI MY08 with BT fiscon system) all work fine until I received the watch

Hi all, very much has been said about the Apple Watch and the changes it makes or should I say priority, she resumed vehicle Bluetooth system.

Since owning the Apple Watch I have has problems of Bluetooth, more with my directory does not not upward. All other functions appear to work correctly. My repertoire is not now responsible to the vehicle (VW Golf GTI MY08 with BT fiscon system) all work fine until I received the watch.

Counsel there or just wait for an update?

I look forward to hear from you

    < re-titled by host >

The issues raised in your vehicle only persist when your watch is paired / with you in the car?

I suspect either a material limitation / bandwidth here, or perhaps a software update for BT to your car system may be necessary.

  • large external hard drive for editing fcpx

Hi, a question of two parts:

    1. I was wondering how people manage their media: is it recommended to store the middle on an external hard drive and the reference to it? Or are the libraries & projects also stored on an external drive?

    2. I have about 4 TB of video and want to buy a large external hard drive that is fast enough for 4 k video editing (with proxy or optimized media, single stream, nothing too fancy etc.). I just bought the new iMac 5 k which has connections thunderbolt.

I read a lot about love at first sight vs. speed USB3, disk hard drive gears, RAIDs etc but am not the wisest. I don't want to it is an exaggeration either.

    It would be good enough: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01BBZ4Q0C/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8 & psc = 1 & smid = A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Or is it better to use for backup and should I go for the version of TB: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FIYJ7LG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8 & psc = 1 & smid = A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

    Or a USB3 would be pretty quick with a double disc is RAID0? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Book-Desktop-External-Drive-WDBLWE0080JCH-EESN/dp/B00L9 0DX04/ref = pd_sim_147_4? ie = UTF8 & PSC = 1 & refRID = YFMN75KFN652T20XB40B

Price differences are pretty extreme and I know too how much of a real difference it would make to my editing.

I have trouble with my 2010 macbook pro and a portable external hard drive 5400 RPM so would avoid this situation.

    Thanks in advance!

1 - Yes, always put libraries and media on a second fast drive.  Video/audio "data streaming" can bog down the stream of data required by the operating system and the app themselves.  There is limited bandwidth between the CPU and hard drives, as your Internet connection.

RIAD 0 is quite obsolete, stay away from him.  USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt are good enough for 4K editing.  RAID is faster than the single SSD (same).  Spins disks should always be 7200 RPM, even the system drive.  5400 is far too slow.  If you go with RAID, get a 4th unit of Bay, with 7200 RPM drives in a RAID 5 configuration.  MacSales.com has excellent products.  As promises (their RAIDS of you bolt P2 are the fastest on the market) and other well known brands.  I was never a fan of the product line of My Book.

  • Airport Time Capsule: Suspected of weak signal

    Hello

I have 3 Apple wireless devices all. The main router is the ATV, followed of an Airport Extreme, extending the network and a former Airport Express, also the extension of the network. Briefly, it is a three-storey house, on the first floor of which is a daylight basement (windows and doors on three sides), then the second and third floor (all wood of the frame).

I'm almost completely Mac/Apple-centric (my son except for the PC game), there are 6 Mac (PPC and Intel) and 4 iPhones on the printers network every day, matching, smart TVs and casual with a device visitors or 2. Generally, there is no connection problem apart from the complaints unfounded. There are a variety of El Capitan, Yosemite, Leopard, OS 9.2.1 and iOS operating systems. Computers are my MBP to 2008, two MacBooks circa 2010, 1 iMac (circa 2010), 1 lime iMac 400 has PPC G4 MDD and iPhones - 5s and 6s (2 of each).

I studied this weak signal suspected by the search for possible answers on the internet, try to use various applications to diagnosis Wi - Fi and browse the various parameters of the airport. I was not able to "find" a smoking gun or even a reason suspected for the signal is so poor. "So poor" refers to my dissatisfaction with our signal coverage - my expectation!  It is perhaps as good as it gets and I have too wait.

The layout has my ATC in my office, ground floor, the west wall of the House and approximately 4 ft above the ground. The AExt (from ATC) is through an open door and a flight of stairs and on the ramp (half wall). If you stretched a string directly between ATC and AExt would be 16' - 20'. The AExp bounced around, but currently it is in our gym, which is part of the structure of individual garage. The AExp is approximately 45 ' - 50' of the AExt and 65' or from the base (ATC). My goal is to explain the variety of signals.

I'm not the most scientific. To drive off the coast, I don't understand why there are 4 WiFi signals reported. 2-5 Ghz and 2 to 2.4 Ghz. "The only basis ' creating a wireless network" is the ATC, the other two are "the extension of the network. There are 2 reported BSSIDs and I forgot how to determine who is what hdwr.

Walk with a MB and it is Wireless Diagnostics app, it seems, most of the signal issues are explainable. One unexplained is when I get out the MB to the gym, the signal "through the roof" - it probably doubles in strength, and that's where the Express is maybe 60' of ATC. Sounds good, but why, when I go back to ATC, the fact the signal drop in half. I want to Express signal overall. I guess the Express to be the weak link, but of course does not appear like this. My main computer, the MBP, sits 15' and at glance of ATC and gets that weak signals - I guess that it could be the Airport card in the MBP, but I'd like to think not, that I have no way to test it. I'm sure that all this has to do with the 4 signals being broadcast and the differences between networks 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz.

So, why is my best farthest signal from the router (ATC) and why is it the MBP of low signal (MB too), the nearest router. Oh, I have no neighbors to 500' or more. Sorry for writing a book.

My goal is to explain the variety of signals.

When you extend a wireless AirPort network using intermediate connections wireless base stations, it is important to understand how fundamentally. So please forgive me if I go to the places you already know.

Extended wireless airport works wheel - as with the base station extend over the hub of the wheel. Each of them extending base stations would be on a spoke of the wheel. With the new 802.11ac 802.11n base stations, you can not extend linearly. For example, in your game both the extreme and the Express would be on another spoke in the wheel, step along the same spoke. Make sense?

That said, the station of further base your Express, would have a harder time getting a signal strong enough to expand it, while extreme may not have this problem. Basically, this would explain the gap between the quality of the signal between these two base stations.

I wrote an an airport users points to try to help to how to best place a base station that extend. It may be useful.

By default, each of your simultaneous dual band base stations provide actually two wireless networks; one on the 2.4 and the other on the 5 GHz bands. Base stations extending each of these repeat if they are in the range. Note that the higher frequency band (5 GHz) would have a harder time penetrating objects, such as walls, ceilings, etc. and it is basically only usable in the same room. I'm guessing what to do in distance between base stations, the extreme is able to expand both networks, but the Express (especially, if it is a model of generation 802.11n 1) extend one or the other.

For routers to Apple, the BSSID is the MAC address wireless base station itself.

One unexplained is when I get out the MB to the gym, the signal "through the roof" - it probably doubles in strength, and that's where the Express is maybe 60' of ATC. Sounds good, but why, when I go back to ATC, the fact the signal drop in half. I want to Express signal overall.

To each base station that spread, the level of the signal from the base station can be high, but real bandwidth of the signal will be the same as what he receives in this place. Yes, you can see a high (full bar) signal level, its ability to transfer data will be reduced because of this limited bandwidth. The key is to place the base station that extend to a resort beach it is the extension to get the specific width of possible higher bandwidth SNR. It is covered in the tip that I quoted above.

  • Cannot transfer app updated between devices.

I can no longer download updates app on my mac using itunes and then transfer these updates on my other devices. I have very limited bandwidth and cannot afford to download the same updates on two iphones, ipad and mac. Is there a solution?

After the introduction of Apple App clarified in iOS 9.2, it's no longer possible o update your applications on a device, transfer updates to iTunes, then sync our other devices with these versions. With the thinning App, versions uploaded on any given device can only be used on this device.

You must download the updates of iTunes, then sync your devices with versions of pants.

  • Satellite L650 - Modem always stall

We have a portable L650 with built in modem software, which is used for the dial-up Internet access.
It is to always disconnect the phone line online and is a real pain to use.
The previous desktop PC, we used had an external modem and give up never once again 8 years of use.

Line quality seems good without clicks or pop obvious. There is also a telephone and a response system wireless connected to the same line.
The previous external modem could connect only to 33 k maximum but it wasn't because of the quality of the line, this is because the phone is a pair gain system that apparently somewhat limited bandwidth.

I tried to plug the old external modem (Banksia 56 K MyModem) via a USB-serial cable to the laptop but this introduces more problems, he also continues to win! Seems like it is just too old to 10 years or more with out-of-date drivers.

This Toshiba modem appears extremely sensitive. There are modem strings which could be sent before the composition which can help?
Perhaps, he could be forced to a fixed 33 k connection speed?

Any help would be appreciated as we crazy here!
Another external modem or a wireless connection isn't really an option, nor is to unplug the phone whenever we go online.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    > This is to always disconnect the phone line online and is a real pain to use.

The modem supports the analog connection and must be always connected to an analogue telephone line.
Never connect it line digital as an ISDN or similar!

If you have established the connection to the internet, then the phone line would be busy... This is nothing unusual...
