WRVS4400N of V1.1.13 to V2.0 firmware update will not update

Hello

I have a WRVS4400N router and I recently tried to upgrade the firmware to V2.0 V1.1.13.  When I perform the upgrade, it happens about 4% and then I get this message.

"Upgrade file is not the correct type or version of this device.  Update failed.  If please get the correct file and try again. »

I thought it could be a corrupted file then I downloaded again the file to another computer and the results were the same.  If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

The zip file I downloaded has been

WRVS4400N_V2.0_Firmware.zip

The file I used to upgrade has been

WRVS4400Nv2-fw - 2.0.0.7 - K9.img

Information system

Firmware version: V1.1.13 DRAM: 64 MB
CPU: STAR 9202 FLASH: 8 MB
System time: 70 days, 07:10:28

Thank you

David

Hello David,.

There are 2 versions of the WRVS4400N material.  Version 1.0 and 1.1 use a different firmware than the platform of version 2.

Goes on the version number of the firmware on your router, you have either a 1.0 or 1.1 version device and the firmware you want to transfer to the router will not work.  It is specifically for the platform of version 2.

1.1.13 firmware is the latest version of the software package available for your router.

Kind regards

Jason

  • WRVS4400N will not route all traffic on IPsec

All my remote sites use various routers to route all their traffic via IPsec.  However, I have a WRVS4400N w/firmware configured 2.0.2.1 with a tunnel of work.  My problem is that I need to define the Group of remote 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 so all traffic is forced through the IPsec tunnel and not on the local gateway.  When I make the mistake, Remote Security Group and Local security group cannot be in the same network. However, it works with Cisco/Linksys RV042.

Any ideas?  Attached are the screenshots of each.

Transmission of wildcard ESP isn't a feature support, therefore not documented in the product documentation. If you need a wifi router that supports this feature, you can see the series Cisco ISR, which is base IOS.

  • WRVS4400N suddenly cannot stall on cable Modem

Won't bore you with all the ills that we have historically had with this modem. on the contrary, can I request ideas on the current problem? -something of a crisis:

Suddenly, the WRVS4400N 'lock' to our modem cable.  This can have some conincided with a change of address from the ISP, in the form of a rebate to zero/DHCP lease renewal.  Along the way, I had PSI supply and reset the cable modem and have checked that we can connect directly to a single computer.  So I think the modem cable itself is OK.

But we cannot get the WRVS4400N to "get" an external IP address.  The router is not quite dead, like the rest aside wireless upward and the work. Have you tried several resets and power cycles to attempt to rectify.

Anything here seems reasonable at all?  Anyone has a similar experience.  I'd love to hear the answer "Pilot error", correct the errors of my ways, if someone has a handy answer!

    Thanks, Lou

Time to start over.  Go here to connect via a cable modem.

  • IPSEC VPN WRVS4400N

    Hi all

We have a customer who has recently changed Vedors and came to us. We had to change the ISP and the need to make changes in their firewall. I went out on the site and has not been able to get into the routers and I contacted the previos company but they do not release this information. We have therefore had to reset devices and put everything up. Everything works great except before having an IPSEC VPN Tunnel between the 2 buildings. Both buildings have routers WRVS4400N and I configured a VPN IPSEC Tunnel on both sides. I named the same and the summary says that both are on the rise. But when I try to go from one side to the other, I am unable to Ping or solve anything. I'll put all the information I can find are relavent to this problem and hope someone can help me. I called Cisco, but they said they are out of warranty and will not be able to help. Cisco directed me here.

The problem is most likely in the 'Local Group' configuration. How they are implemented is essentially to allow only the 192.39.1.1 and 192.59.1.1 talk to each other. These fields should be read as the subnet as this ID: 192.39.1.0 and 192.59.1.0

Try this restart of the tunnels, and let us know how it worked.

  • Can not enter Protectlink on WRVS4400N activation code

Protectlink my client license is set to expire in 2 weeks. I would like to enter the activation code I just got, but cannot find the link. When I go to the license page in the router, there is a link to renew, but that takes me right on the site to enter the new key code, and then receive an activation code. There is however no any link to enter the activation code. I suppose that once the license actually expires, the activation link will be visible, but there must be a way to access this page beforehand.

    Any suggestions?

    Mike,

I know the exact problem you are experiencing currently, please enter this url in your browser on PC connected directly to the WRVS4400N

    http://192.168.1.1/new_purchase.htm

Please note that if your local ip address is something other than default please sub the 192.168.1.1 with your local ip address. so if you had a 10.2.2.1 then it would be http://10.2.2.1/new_purchase.htm

    You will now see the

    Then,.

    and the last!

Now that you have submitted successfully protectlink renewal,

    Hope this helps,

    Thank you

  • WRVS4400n (SSH access) port forwarding

I have a WRVS4400n and a Server CentOS that I need to access SSH from WAN.

I've created a single port rule to forward to open port 22 and pass to the server (whose address is 192.168.41.3)

However ssh connect can't, 'ssh user@{external_IP}' command times out after 20 seconds.

    I was wondering why...

If I connect to my server directly to the modem through the external interface - I have a problem to connect to it. Once, it is behind the router - no luck.

I even added same rule for UDP, don't know if it's necessary, but it did not really hepl.

The router is on the version of the firmware 2.0.1.3, on a background version is 2.

    Any suggestions?

    Centre,

The server does not respond to the front port is because if the traffic is unknown to this subnet it is not sent to the address 41.1 looks. If you can not ping any what other subnet, then the local LAN subnet on the server you will not be able to communicate with a public IP or even a PC via a VPN tunnel, address because the destination IP address is outside the LAN subnet. The reason to ask if the server can ping internet.

Is it possible to remove the default gateway on the eth0 interface, just in case it is causing problems with the statements of the route on the server.

What is a linux server?  If yes you can run the command-line - n to see what looks like your routing table?

  • Hub and VPN talked about with WRVS4400n installation problems

    Background

4 networks currently connected via VPN with 3 routers RV042 and 1 Netgear FVX538

Central office is 192.168.20.0 has 4 tunnels

local groups on each tunnel are 192.168.0.0 / 255.255.0.0

remote groups all numbers are 'real' network IE: 192.168.30.0 / 255.255.255.0

Offices are set up with tunnels one above hub

local groups 'true' network IE number: 192.168.30.0 / 255.255.255.0

Group remotely on all of these branches is 192.168.0.0 / 255.255.0.0

The Netgear and RV042 router "warn" network number 'conflicts' on groups BUT allow to configure tunnels. All networks can ping all networks and life is great...

    Enter the problem

2 branches no longer connect as needed wireless and more of the VPN. Bought 2 WRVS4400n router v2 and tried to set up tunnels. Routers are complaining about the groups the remote and being on the same network and the pop - up will not allow the creation of tunnel.

Is their any way to force the WRVS4400n to accept the remote group or am I stuck with their back or creating a full mesh?

    Thank you

    Kurt

    Kurt,

This feature, or the limitation of the WRVS440N, depending on your point of view, cannot be disabled.  In an effort to make this feature more "user friendly" for small businesses, the interface allows you to use what he thinks are invalid parameters.  For the moment, there is no way to 'wrong' or bypass the verification of the validity of the section local vs remote subnet.

    Thank you

  • Models WRVS4400N / EOL takes in charge Dates

    Forum,

Can someone please provide the official dates for end of life Support references for WRVS4400N models. I have owned this unit for some time and I feel that he needs to retire.

    Cisco,

You could better support by releasing a DD - WRT firmware with more frequent IPS version releases. I personally never buy one of your style SOHO UTM devices ever. While I didn't have nightmares with the device, I'm not really impressed with your support abandoning the device without official notice.

I know several security issues with the unit which "Would HAVE TO BE ADDRESSED," but Cisco never intervened. SOHO devices as it could better support models if you followed some of the patterns community open source. I will not go into here by respect for other security issues.

    Cisco things could have been:

1 release IPS signatures more frequently - I can count on one hand the number of releases that you provided.

    2. release a DD - WRT firmware version - communities could take the ball and ran with it and made much happier customers at a low price for Cisco. VICTORY for the world and increases the satisfaction of the customer.

Results do not support the features of SOHO:

Can't speak for everyone here, but I'm working on very large contracts (in million $+). Your sporadic support makes feel me less confident of Cisco overall. In the long term I would certainly recommend your SOHO products to ALL prospective customers, and I'll be more careful of your more expensive security equipment.

Thank you very much, Mr. Rathbun. Stay tuned...

  • Need help setting up a configuration of VLAN special using WRVS4400N

    Hi guys,.

I need your help on how to implement a configuration of VLAN somehow non-standard.

    The situation is the following:

The customer wants a WLAN set up for the company and the other for guests. Now, wouldn't that be not so difficult if we'd be using the internal internet connection. But the WRVS4400N will be used to implement wireless LANs / VLAN only.

The company uses the DHCP protocol on both of their subnets, provided by a Watchguard Firebox XTM510.

Now, what we would do is set up the back door #1 for the connection to the subnet of the client and the #2 for the connection to the optional subnet for the guests. The first problem is that we were not able to configure DHCP forwards to the VLAN2. It works very well on the 1st but the 2nd doesn't allow that either ENabled or disabled, grayed out DHCP.

To work around the problem that he would be allowed to set up DHCP WRVS4400N providing in itself for the subnet invited, but try that didn't work at all.

Is it possible? Thanks in advance!

    Best,

    Ralph.

  • WRVS4400N slowing down my internet connection of 100 MB

    Hello

I have a Cisco WRVS4400N on the latest firmware and I just had my Virgin internet connection set to level to the 100 MB. Once I thought it was put at level I checked with a broadband speed test and she is back in the download 15 MB and 5 MB download. Before I rang Virgin I thought I would check with a direct link to my pc directly to the modem. Ran the speed test and it came back in the download of 100 MB and 5 MB download. I thought that the best thing to do is to restore my settings back to the factory and its still the same. I was wondering if anyone can help?

    Thank you

  • How to know the version of WRVS4400N

How will I know if I have a V1 or V2.  I bought what was advertised as a WRVS4400N V2, but the firmware shows that V1.  Given that the firmware was a V1 I only applied the update of the firmware V1.1.13.  Can I use the update of the firmware V2 on this model.   After installing the firmware V1.1.13 and change the password, I wonder to enter credentials whenever I click on something and a lot of times, it can ask 10 or 15 times before displaying.

The firmware version and the hardware version usually have nothing to do with the other. The firmware version indicates the version of the software running on the router. The hardware version indicates the version of the hardware built into the router.

You must ensure that you only upgrade your router with the firmware that is compatible with your router. The exact hardware version and the model is printed on the label under the router. If she says WRVS4400N V2 then you have a router V2. If it shows shows no version number after the name of the model that you have a V1 router.

The version number of the firmware is not related with the hardware version. The latest version for a V2 router could be 1.50 and the latest version for a V1 router could be 4.30. Still wouldn't change that you should only use firmware for V2 router on a router V2 etc.

Linksys occasionally ussd version numbers of firmware "borrowing" of the hardware version, for example WRT54Gv7 firmware starts with v7. But this isn't always the case. For the WRVS4400N, it seems as if they are the same, however.

In any case, check the label on the router, then you know the hardware version...

  • Slow, Internet high speed, if I connect to my desktop via router WRVS4400N PC

I bought a Cisco WRVS4400N. Which is highly recommended by my friend IT. In my office, I have a local telecommunications fiber-optic connection, which is 100 Mbps download and upload 40Mbps.

If I connect to the Internet taken directly into the computer, it flyes to 100 Mbps when I test on speedtest.net. When I connect to internet with the Cisco router and therefore farther from router on my desktop, it slows down to 25Mbps. I think there should be some sort of restriction inside the modem configuration. I don't know how to overcome it. Perhaps someone knows how to remove all the distracting security and other setings from inside my Cisco have the full flow of the internet.

    Hello

I want to buy a WRVS4400N, but I need to know something before.

The router will serve as the access point for a wireless 10, 6 of them station will run on the Terminal server server, the router will be used also 20 computer for internet, so I want a link, aggregate the four port LAN of my swtich, I know how to do it on my Dell Powerconnect, but I want to know if the WRVS4400N will support it so there will be a lot of traffic going through the router connecting port 4 in SHIFT mode to my swicth Powerconnect will speed up communication!

  • WGA600N and the WRVS4400N

I have problems with the connection of the wireless game adapter.  He is able to find my router and it connects to where he asks my security key.  I enter the key and I checked it came directly through my eyes and someone else and I cannot get it to connect.  I really need to keep my WRVS4400N in the House to protect my periphery of Home Office, but I can not get the adapter to connect and do not want to buy another router woreless.  Any suggestions?  What settings can I give show you where I went wrong.  I don't really have chnged much the default value on the router.  I have a few settings to restrict access, but they are specific MAC address.  I also disabeld these and tried and it still does not work.

can't really think of anything except recheck that the WPS is disabled in your WGA600N because WRVS4400N does not support. This feature has been examined in the link below:

    http://KB.Linksys.com/16319

also, since you mentioned that you use MAC address filtering (at least that's how I interpreted ' some access restriction settings, but they are specific MAC address ' ) to ensure that it is disabled when you try to configure the settings on the game adapter wireless
