X120e display does not power on

My Lenovo x120e apparently wants is no longer power on its LCD screen. The machine starts very well and I get a picture when I connect it to an external monitor over HDMI, but still nothing on the display real itself.

I tried every combination Fn + F7 (computer only, duplicate, extend) does not. I also tried to adjust the brightness of the screen, no dice.

I had this happen once or twice before, but every time that I was able to fix cyclic food machine or remove its battery. This time, I'll have no chance.

And this problem power screen, the laptop itself was completely symptom free of any other problems/defects/hiccups.

It seems that this person to another forum has had a similar problem (I can watch the process of full boot on my external monitor), but he ended up having to RAM his laptop.

It also looks like they all experience the same problem, but they were all able to solve their problems of power cycling.

I'm sure that I passed my (bought in February 2011) warranty period, so I hope that there could be some remedy at home there.

Any help is appreciated!

Called Lenovo today.

Repair costs vary from $175 (at a minimum) up to $575. The guy on the phone said generally problems with the screen tend to be closer to the beach to $575, which is more (or right around) the price that I paid for the new X120e.

Ridiculous.

My girlfriend has an Equium A300D - 16 c which had some problems lately.

In recent months, whenever she turns on the system, the display does not pull upwards and it takes several tent for lights.

The strange thing is every time that happens, the system boots normally always that you can hear the Windows 7 startup sound.

I'm looking for in this question for some time now and I'm running out of ideas.
Initially, I thought that it could be a wiring problem but by stripping the laptop down, I found that the cable was still firmly in place.

I also tried to remove the RAM, HARD drive and DVD drive, but it still doesn't pull upward. On the odd occasion she started upward when you do it, but after restart, it has not started again.

I think that this could be either a transmitting power or the mother board is on its way. This problem has worsened gradually (it took more than 20 attempts it turn on and off this morning) so finally he come not at all.

To clarify, the system will start after several attempts, but most of the time that the screen not turn on (not even the backlight). It works with an external display on the HDMI so the GPU works.
I tried to keep the power with no energy source button to unload the system, but it does not help.

I also noticed that if you hear it boot and close the cover, the reopening of the display lid will come on but with the bad (1024 x 768) resolution that has intrigued me even more.

Any ideas on what could be the problem? I would repair it rather than just buying a new as its still a decent system apart from this problem.

    > To clarify, the system will start after several attempts, but most of the time that the screen not turn on (not even the backlight). It works with an external display on the HDMI so the GPU works.

This means that you can use the laptop as part of the external screen, but it does not work with the internal screen?

This means that the internal display module isn't OK. It probably needs to be replaced.
But this does not explain the problems while turning on the laptop.

In the worst case the mother for laptop AND the internal screen are affected, but it would be really strange and rare bad luck

A lot of people is affected by this problem, and Apple has worked on the issue.  Some found the following steps useful for this issue:

Go to iCloud.com and select settings once you are connected.  Click on your device listed there and remove them from the account (not typing not erase or lost mode).  Restart your device and must ignore this lock of Activation screen because you actually disabled the lock by removing the device for iCloud.com

    Hello TheBell,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see you found a mistake that "movie will not play, the display does not support HDCP" error when you try to play a movie downloaded on iTunes. I have a couple of things I would like that you try to refine the question.

First, start your computer in safe mode and test the question.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

If after the test in safe mode, the issue is still in progress, and then create a new user and test in the new user.

OS X Yosemite: set up users on your Mac.

If you still have questions, additional information would be useful. Using an external monitor? If so, test with just the internal display on the MacBook Pro. All the other things you notice?

    If command-F2 does not work

If your iMac won't go to the target Display Mode when you press Control-F2, check these things:

    • Make sure the iMac that you try to use it as a screen that supports target Display Mode.
    • Make sure you are pressing Control-F2 on the keyboard which is connected to the iMac to use as a screen.
    • In the keyboard system preferences, if the check box is enabled to use all F1, F2, keys etc. as standard features, changes of command-Fn-F2 key combination.
    • Make sure that your Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt cable is connected to both computers.
    • If you are currently connected to the iMac, you want to use as a screen, try to connect to return to the login window. Then again press Control-F2.
    • Some old keyboards Apple and third-party keyboards allow may not control-F2 to toggle display modes. In this case, use the keyboard that came with your iMac to activate / deactivate the target Display Mode.

This troubleshooting tool and other information might help.

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

Check with support from the manufacturer of their books online and the drivers and their forums system
(as applicable) for known issues. Some manufacturer issued BIOS and other updates to help the battery
    problems.

    Other information that might help:

Control Panel control - plan change Options - power plans - power - advanced settings
Parameters for the drainage and the use of parameters (this is how much to use and not how much or how)
    long to load).

In fact, what causes a lot of wear on a battery empties it too low on several occasions. With today
systems overload are not a problem.

Here are some tips to help and troubleshoot battery issues.

Old battery? Unplug the power to the computer - remove the battery and clean the contacts with a pencil
eraser (do not use this, if your battery is fine slots - just clean up the edges of the knife which fit in)
them and be careful). Batteries are old, or it could be a problem with the computer.
Check with the support of the machine system, and many of them have on line forums.

New Lithium-Ion type battery usually last longer if you do not unload then less than 30%
However on a laptop that not extend their life a lot. Best is to use the a/c adapter
    When this is possible.

  • Connection 12 '' Macbook to Thunderbolt display does not work (USB - C for HDMI / Lightning)

I have connected a retina 12 '' Macbook to a Thunderbolt display via two adapters, and no video is coming through.

    Here is what I use:

1 USB - C for HDMI: (Apple USB - C to HDMI adapter)

2 HDMI to Thunderbolt (Monoprice adapter)

Any ideas what's happening? The Thunderbolt display is without a doubt, since power is to come via USB when I plug my phone directly on the back of the monitor. The Apple adapter works because I could try to connect directly to a LG monitor with HDMI ports.

The present model 2015 MacBook 12 inch Retina does not support the Apple Thunderbolt display

what I read.  The other models Apple Cinema can work if they are used with correct adapters

as other brands. Some adapters support the audio, while others do. Note there is

limits for the specifications of display supported; This can limit their usefulness if it is not better configured.

Special adapters and cables can allow to configure some display options for use with the MacBook.

The graphical support through MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro varies with the specifications.

The absence of a Thunderbolt port, use of adapters to provide only what it can bear MacBook 12 plug-in software component.

and the mini-display port cannot connect or transfer at frequencies Thunderbolt usage views. The

cure should be taken as built-in support for this; If the adapters could carry signals. A new model

could understand such an improvement; but there is nothing of this specification in the Apple Store again.

  • Re: x 505-"turn off the display" does not properly

To make a long story short, I had a load of problems with my Toshiba Qosmio X 505. I talked to tech support and they had me completely clear the computer and reinstall the OS. Everything has been fine for days until today!

For some reason any whenever my screen turns off (for energy saving), I can't get my computer to respond. I don't know if he's asleep, going into hibernation mode, or even the difference between one of these things, but when I press the buttons, move the mouse/Touchpad, try multimedia keys, the power button, nothing makes my computer come back. I have to hold the power button / stop and completely restard come back again the computer.

Why is this happening? It worked great for everyday, but I think it has something to do with the NVIDIA driver update I downloaded. It is the main change I have made to the computer yesterday and now it seems to do. Does anyone have recommendations? How can I make my computer stop doing that? I have all the options of my black screen off for now, but that does not seem a good solution for this problem that he used to work properly.

    Hey,.

Akuma is right, you should only use the display drivers provided by Toshiba and not nVidia. The nVidia drivers are not pre-tested and that's the reason why they can cause such problems. Also they don t have an overheating protection, installation happens on your own risk.

If you need to test it with the drivers from the official website of Toshiba. Prior to installation, remove the current display driver, and then restart the computer. Then you can begin with the installation of Toshiba display drivers.

In the worst case it of necessary to reinstall the whole system again, but before that, you try a system restore to an earlier point.

  • T410 doesn't start, white screen and the keyboard does not power on.

Hi, my laptop Lenovo T410 does not start. I hit the power button and looks like it is about to start. The thinklight flashes on as normal, the cd drive is checked, the caps lock on, then nothing/button blinks. No display and the keyboard does not respond. Power led lights up; If I leave it awhile the fan turns on. Can I stop the machine using the power button, but the problem remains the next time I turn it on.

I tried to remove power and battery, power 10 button time then with the power to 30 seconds, before replacing the power supply and the battery but nothing happens. I tried to use a different keyboard. I tried to plug in an external monitor. No change.

This problem appeared after I left it on overnight. I have the feeling that it entered into hybernation mode, perhaps, and that it disturbed some important functions which he could not complete. Not sure if. Any help gratefully received.

    Thank you very much

    Pete

It's the original configuration of your laptop:

    ThinkPad T410 2522BF1
    i5 - 520 M (2.4 GHz), 4 GB RAM, 160 GB 7200 RPM HD, 14.1 in. LCD 1280 x 800, Intel 5700MHD, DVD, Intel 802.11agn Wireless Modem, 1 Gb Ethernet, UltraNav smart, secure, camera, 6 c Li-ion, Win7 Pro 32

I firstly the LCD cable or secondary LED could be damaged, but if you don't see anything on an external monitor I tend to think it's a motherboard problem.

Last thing you could try putting running a Live Distro Linux from a CD/DVD or USB drive, using Ubuntu or Linux Mint, for example.
