XP Backup problem

I'm trying to retire a Windows XP machine with 12 GB of data of program/user on a hard drive partitioned three.  I use a USB 32 GB as my backup disk.  I tried using a backup and backup/copy the wizard approach backup.  Each time, the backup program runs for 1.5-2 hours, then stops abruptly at about 4 GB copied/saved.  When I check the properties of my USB, it shows 4 GB used, 26 GB of available.  What can I do to make the backup?  I intend to reformat the hard drive before recycling or give the machine.

Finally, I used the XP Backup Wizard so long that I don't remember really what he does, but I suspect he is trying to create a single file that contains all of the backup (good luck, by the way, try to use produce at least; see THIS ARTICLE).  If the USB drive is formatted using FAT32, the largest file that can be stored is 4 GB.

The first thing to do is to make sure that the USB stick is formatted with NTFS.  The second is to get a better backup program.  Personally, I prefer disk imaging programs such as the following:

If you have a Western Digital hard drive, you can get a version of Acronis True Image free of WD (http://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119) or you can get the software of cloning separately (this is not an exhaustive list and in no particular order, some are free, some not):

Acronis True Image Home
EASEUS ToDo Backup
Paragon Drive Copy or Partition Manager Personal
Casper
Norton Ghost

XXClone

Macrium Reflect free

    iPhone 6 s Plus 128 GB

    iOS 10.0.2

    iTunes 12.5.1.21

    Windows 10

I synced my phone this morning. I discovered a few hundred or two of my contacts, 34 are only there. I'll do a restore from a backup. I discovered that although I was backed up my phone several times during the past two months, only two are listed, this morning and the other in January. [angry face] I select the backup of this morning. It then gives me the error message "itunes can't restore iphone because not enough free space is available on the phone." I click 'OK '. (I have 25 GB free on the phone.)

Then it reboots my phone. The error message that it could not connect with the phone because it is locked and needs the password. I enter the password and click "Retry." iTunes will connect with the phone. He soon begins to synchronize, even if I have in preferences to prevent automatic synchronization of the iphone.

When it is finished syncing, I check my contacts. Still only 34. I go through the steps again. It is an infinite loop. He still made things even. Judge on three occasions.

I restarted my computer, stopped, and then restarted the phone.

What is happening, but better yet, how can I solve this problem and find my contacts?

    Thank you.

If you are / use iCloud to synchronize your contacts, they are not in this backup.

  • Possible drive with backup problem

Recently, I needed remove the files from the old drive to backup after discovering their involuntary inclusion on my regular backup disk. These files somehow became included for backup to disk when I have included another external hard drive where they lie in the intent of formatting that lead to use as backup for the second part of my system dual-boot. This problem is surface shortly after the withdrawal of older backups with error message:

"Time Machine could not finish the backup"Backup 04 BateStar."

Cannot copy the files on the backup disk because it seems to be read-only.

You need to maybe repair or reformat the drive using the Utility Dist. If the disc is not repairable, you usa another disk for backups. Open Time Machine preferences to select a different backup disk. »

I completed both an audit and a repair that shows the drive to be good, no errors.

Am suspect at this stage that it is was eventually added to the directory, or to a location on the disk are addressed by the directory of corrupted data.

Is it possible to fix this without reformatting the drive 3 t?

Furthermore, need to reformat, how would I be able to retrieve up-to-date backups without including whatever the location of incorrect data are included?

That is very bad news. Your options are to ignore and hope or reinstall Windows, wipe the hard drive.

To make sure this isn't a problem with the hard disk hardware.

  • Windows backup and restore error code 0 x 80070002? sdutil.exe won't solve the backup problem?

I had the BSOD after upgrade to a new processor. I had fixed and had improved from 32 to 64 Vista.  Now, I need to restore my documents, videos, etc. I get an 0x8100001A error code. I looked online for a solution and found a thread on Vista64 (link) to redo the Mediaid.bin file. I get this error code during the performance of the sdutil.exe (renamed abc.exe to type more easily)

    MediaID C:\Windows\System32>F:\ABC.exe F:\GlobalCatalog.wbcat F:\
    == Production Mediaid.bin file ==

    Loading the global catalog information...

    An error has occurred:
The system cannot find the specified file. (0 x 80070002)

What can I do? Why hasent microsoft tried to solve the problem? I know that the files are there, I can find zip files. The only reason that I didn't just unzip them is because video files are separated between the zippers. This has something to do with my other (link) post? What of the fact that I went from 32 to 64 years (the two Vista Home Basic with the same activation code)? When I change to mediaid mediaID I get access denied as a result.

I think that I fixed it.  For those of you who need this work, that's what I did.

I created a new mediaid.bat file as indicated on vista64.

A ran the restore backup and it has not worked.

Hidden files from a backup from another computer and run the restore again.

bakcup location it always says the location was unknown... but the restore seems to work fine...

will close the post if it worked!

  • Unable to add data to the Virgin DVD + RW double layer after having ejected backup problem.

Did a backup using DVD + R double layer, and after having ejected the last media due to clerical error, I can no longer continue the backup due to the error: insert a disc - it seems that my hardware is no longer detect dual layer blank media. Works great on regular blank media 4.7 GB.

    Hi sal69,

This problem is caused by physical limitations in DL (Double Layer) media. These limitations prevent any real use multisession. When the media is ejected, the disc session may be closed for DVD-ROM compatibility. On these discs, DVD-ROM compatibility is achieved only when the disc is complete. When the disc is finished, it is closed forever. The physical characteristics of the media require two layers will be burned so that the disc can be played in a DVD player. The two layers can be burned only by closing the disc. As soon as the disc is closed, no additional data can be added to him.

You can follow the steps mentioned in the link below

  • Windows 7 backup problem

    Hello

I put Windows 7 up to the top for the first time.  I used an external hard drive.  I am a beginner and I have a few questions, but also a problem that I need help.

    First my questions

    (1) I put in place by selecting "Let Windows choose."  Then I put the calendar to save "Every Sunday at 21:00."  Does this mean that it will create a weekly backup of the image of the system as well?

    (2) for scheduled backups happen, what I need to be logged on my Windows user account, or it will still too long my computer is on (for example, if another Windows user account is connected, but mine isn't).

    (3) what happens if I am connected to my Windows user account, and the power kick in his mode settings "sleep."  Always, it will automatically make a backup as expected?  Or I have to wake up manually my computer "sleep" for the start of the backup?

    Now my problem

Before today, was the date then "backup" 2015/01/03 21:00.  So he must have created backups last night.  But my external hard drive only shows backups (which are dated) the first time I put up using "save now."  Yet, the "Backup and Restore" window says "last backup: 03/01/2015 23:33.»  But there are no files with the date 03/01/2015.  What should I do?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Thank you
