  • What is the difference between XP Home and XP Pro?

I am now running XP Home on my PC and a friend gave me a CD of XP Pro Wavec one code, and I was wondering what was the difference? Also I HAV downloaded word, excel, I have also a disk for Office XP Pro is a different thing here?

Regarding XP Home vs XP Pro, the Pro version is more designed for a corporate network environment.  Most of the differences focus on areas related to the network, while others address control, permissions, and increased security.  A few things that come to mind:

    • XP Pro may be a member of a domain environment.  Homepage can not (only working groups)
    • XP Home requires Simple file sharing where all incoming connections authenticate as user 'Guest' for access to files.  XP Pro can disable Simple file sharing and apply a level of access control to files.
    • XP Pro can accept 10 simultaneous inbound connections.  XP Home only 5
    • XP Pro offers the Encrypting File System (EFS) to a higher level of file protection.  XP Home does not work.  In my humble OPINION, this is a good reason to stick with Home that EFS is known as the 'Recycle Bin delay'
    • XP Pro offers a strategy by which a group admin [remote] can set permissions/policies on machines
    • XP Pro offers a 64-bit version, not House.
    • XP Pro offers remote desktop connection.  Home does not work.

I have a Dell laptop, Inspiron, provided with Windows 7 Home installed, but without the installation diskettes. I've also upgraded to Windows 7 Pro. I need a new hard drive. How can I reinstall Windows 7 Home and reupgrade to Windows 7 Pro, without going through the installation of operating system diskettes and without having to purchase another upgrade of Windows 7 Pro or the original operating system?

If its damaged, then you will need to request a new set of Dell:

Request backup discs - welcome to Dell Technical Support

Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

Startup Repair has worked 9 hours from WAU to go home 7-7 pro running. System is not blocked because I have control of the mouse and HD shows activity. What is the problem?

I would be out of system repair and safe boot mode:

Start your PC, just before the system loads the Windows operating system; Press the [F8] key function 8 on your keyboard which will launch the menu Advanced Boot Options. Select Safe Mode.

    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any breach of integrity

    Restart your system

    Hello

the difference between Satellite and Satellite Pro is the operating system:
Windows XP Home Edition for Satellite
Windows XP Professional for Satellite Pro

The difference between the models L100-xxx is just the equipment.
    For example the CPU:
    Sam L100-175: Core Duo T2500; 2.0 GHz
    Satellite Pro L100 176: Core Duo T2400. 1.83 GHz

  • Qosmio F20 and WinXP Pro

Using a Qosmio F20-110 but hated XP MCE that accompanies it. Reinstalled XP Pro SP2 and drivers according to the instructions of installation in section help. Runs great.

Can the brightness of buttons and the display of the special player buttons serve in XP Pro? I installed the driver controls but only the Internet button watch.

Is it possible to use the TV tuner (although the agreement was never large in MCE). Necessary third-party TV software? Not so important.

    see you soon
    Paul

    Hello Paul

    Have you installed Qosmioplayer yet?

I'm not 100% sure but I think WXP MCE is actually the Pro version. It is highly recommended to install all the stuff to Toshiba because of the feature, but if you have installed all the tools of Toshiba, it should work. As much as I know all Toshiba tools and utilities are not created only for WMCE but also for the home and professional version. But I found for WMCE you use TOSHIBA controls V3.19.2201 for MCE and home TOSHIBA controls V3.19.2401. Please check installed version on your device.

  • Win7 home premium update pro can it be done on a Pavilion P6210F running win7 home premium?

Hi I'm new as of today and would like to know if I could go win 7 home premium to Pro on my Privilion

Computer Office P6210f.  It would be win7 pro because I really like win 7 and not Win 8 so far.

    Thanks for any help.

    Frank

Yes, you can upgrade to Pro. Just buy the Pro version with license key. You can't even run the Windows dvd. Try Windows Anytime Upgrade in your departure, all programs Menu. Select "Enter an upgrade key" and enter your new license key. This should automatically unlock the additional features of the Pro version. In the case where that it fails, you can of course run your dvd.

  • Why can't I install Turbotax 2010 Home and Business in XP?

Several months ago, I installed Turbotax 2010 Home and Business in XP Pro and set up two returns. A few weeks later, I went back and TurboTax would not. Thinking that the files have been corrupted, I uninstalled TTH & B and tried to re - install from the CD, only to receive error messages. So I tried to use the cleanup tool, which partially worked, but I still get error messages. Other things I've tried only to get the error Stops include:

1 clean the registry both manually and with the cleaning tool
    2. clean the files .net (3.5 and below)
    3 reinstall XP
    4 reinstall MS Installer.
5 copy the disc on my desktop and install - always get error messages.
    6. cancellation of registration and record msiexec.exe
7 detection and cleaning with StopZilla Reg Cure and PC Health Advisor (which is SUPPOSED to fix)
8 Mode installation without fail, at the command prompt and in other modes
    9. other methods

If you can help, I would be very happy.

What are the error messages?  Word for Word, please.

What "cleaning tool" specifically?  What is "partially worked?  How could you say this partially worked mystery cleanup tool?

    • #1, second part, of least not such a great idea - even if your machine...
    • #2, which means "cleaning"?  Versions of the .NET Framework are all independent.  Just because you have later does not mean that you have all the versions you need.
    • #3, that * you * average by reinstalling?  Repair?  Or real format and install?
    • #4, OK...  You must have had a reason for this?
    • #5, interesting - approach and yet you still don't give error messages?
    • #6, OK...  You must have had a reason for this also?
    • #7, I have no words to #7...
    • #8, okay - I can see which ones are something to try...
    • #9, the #9 was really necessary to add?  * smile *.

  • Compatibility XP home and domain

Hello. I am a new admin server and I have a few questions on XP home and areas. I hope this is the right place to ask. I realize that XP Home Edition cannot be a client of the field, but I also read that XP Home Edition can have roaming profiles and can access the domain shares. I'll set up a domain controller with SAMBA for a food pantry (my budget is $ 0.00 with donated equipment), I can't go to a MS Server real or even XP pro. In any case, one of the boxes that will be a member of the domain is a box to XP Home, and I want the users to have to load their profile and network share when they use the machine. Is there anyway that I can do under XP home? I'd love to be able to manage under the strategy of group as well, but looks like it is out of the question.

Just some information so that you can understand what I am trying to accomplish here. Right now, the pantry from the kitchen has a few computers that Manager no matter which allows to use. At least one of the machines stores sensitive information about all customers and anyone has access to this machine. I want to pass this information to a server and that some people access give it. I would also like to be able to define strategies for machines so people must have an account to use the computers and I can restrict the permissions for certain groups. I have also had problems with computers being changed without my knowledge and then disappear all the parameters that I added all of a sudden and I wonder to find files that have not been migrated, etc.. With a domain name, I have to be consulted before the new machines are added and if I get group policy to work properly, then a new computer just needs to get a copy of the policy and it is ready to go without me having to be there physically. Anyway, I have a job and a connected machine test server setup and works very well. I fell on the anomaly when I realized that one of the machines (in fact the machine that needs backup and the restriction most) is a XP Home machine and I don't know if there is a good way to achieve my goals with it. Thanks in advance.

I have two operating systems on my laptop and really only want one, how to uninstall XP Home Edition and still retain my files to move them to XP Professional that I have already installed.

I installed the XP Pro SP3 because I had problems with XP Home and I understand that XP Pro is an operating system much better.  Help, please

You can modify the boot.ini file to remove the unwanted entry

Depends on what files you want to move, you can move the data, but you cannot move the programs, they will have to be resettled.

  • I need to upgrade my xp home to xp pro.

I need to run a file transfer program, but the two computers must be running the same operating system.

    Hi Mikenyc342,

Thanks for posting. I'm not sure what you're asking to your message. If you are having problems with a file transfer program, then you may want the manufacturer of this program for support. If you try to update from XP Home to XP Pro, you will need to purchase full media or upgrade from a supplier who currently still the sales. If I'm wrong on the understanding of your question please post back with more information so that we can better help you.

    I hope this helps!
