XPS 1710 & Windows 10

Aloha, I decided to give it a try because I always have my spare in excellent condition XPS1710 gaming laptop and update Windows 10. Installation went smoothly in Windows 7 with without a hitch. Everything seems to be in order to market and also brought back its reactivity, but the only problem I've tried to fix is the Audio driver which like many of those who are familiar with this model, a subwoofer. I can't seem to get one of the drivers to work but has its fate to the L & R speakers. Any ideas of what I can use?

I can't seem to get one of the drivers to work but has sound

Look in the device under his management... Controllers. If it says "High definition Audio Device" and then the laptop uses the audio native Windows driver, which is good, but does not have some features of the pilot of the provider. The seller, Sigmatel, bankrupt before Win7, so the latest driver available for you is the version of Vista, Sigmatel R171788. Try to install it by using compatibility mode.

1. download and save the audio driver on your computer or to any location on the hard drive...
2. double-click on the new folder to extract (unzip) the files of the driver.
3. the wizard of the extractor will create a new folder for the driver files. It will be located at the "c:\dell\drivers\xxxxxx". Note the exact location that the wizard creates.
4. If the driver begins to install automatically, stop (cancel) installation.
5. search for the driver files on the hard drive (the location you noted).
6. find the file "setup.exe".
7. right click on setup.exe to open the context menu.
8. Select Properties.
9. Select the Compatibility tab.
10. check the box "run this program in compatibility mode for"... Vista.

Note: I don't think that this driver had stereo mix, so if this is something you're used to have then try to install the Sigmatel R171789 driver by using the compatibility mode for XP.

Avoid installing any software Creative Labs Audigy which was available for your laptop before installing Sigmatel driver successfully because doing so could create a difficult problem with the Windows audio service.

  • Map of XPS 1710 chart failure?

I was using my laptop XPS 1710 (Win XP SP3 and all updates; NVIDIA GEForce GTX Go7900) look at a web page today (no game or some other graphics intensive activity) when my mouse froze all of a sudden and I had to reboot.  After reboot, I now get a white screen when loading Win XP. The system seems to be start normally, just nothing on screen.

I can boot into safe mode and noted a series of groups Greens very pale, vertical of the hashmarks on all width of the screen that asked me that I have a video card problem.  I unchecked "hardware acceleration" for the video card, and while troubleshooting, I learned how to get started in the diagnostic mode.

I ran the diagnostics and everything seemed OK until the diagnosis of "Mode Test video-graphic SVGA VESA ' which revealed the following for what seemed like all resolutions...

    Test results: fail

    Error Code 5300:0119

Detected a failure when writing and reading video memory

I thought that might have been caused by my disabling the function to "rewrite" the "hardware acceleration", then I activated the first level of "hardware acceleration" and "diagnosis" is represented.  I always get the same failure and, when you select the 'line LCD Test', I get the following...

    Line LCD test: failed

    Error code 5300 - 0B 21

It's all a bit above my head, but the appear4s "Troubleshooting" to suggest that I update the video driver, which brings me to my question.

The video driver is labeled "A05" which I presume is BIOS related?  My current BIOS is A04.  Should I upgrade to the current A07 BIOS (I think) until I try to install the new driver?

Information will be provided with gratitude as needed.

    TIA

Hi, I have a Dell XPS 15Z, which I bought off a friend. They have recently updated to Windows 8 and now, that's what I have. • XPS 8300 Windows 10 and not Internet

I really appreciate that get back you to me. I tried a version of many drivers updates patches etc... Thanks to these forums and the web Inter.  I discovered that the XPS 8300 model has a problem with the Ethernet jack on the motherboard, it is wrong and the dell offered to replace a large number of them, but with the same boards that had the broken part of Ethernet. Sad is their destiny to break like that.

  • Last steps to install an SSD in a XPS 435MT (Windows 7 64-bit)?

I found a very good price on two SSDs - so I bought it, thinking I could install at least one of them in my XPS 435MT. They will arrive today.

I also want to add a Blu - ray (player, at least) Player to this system. (Suggestions)? While seeking advice on this, I came across a forum detailed post making it clear to me that adding SSD to the XPS 435MT system is not so easy.

It's been well over a year since the above post has been updated. Are the steps that are always accurate? Are there any updates? For example, the message includes a link to the Intel Matrix Storage Manager for Microsoft Windows driver; However, the page that indicates that it is valid for the "Intel Server System SR1680MV. Is this still required driver? Is Microsoft difficulty he always required 50470?

I want to preserve my finely tuned Windows 7 environment, if possible. My system currently has two hard drives of 500 GB (C: and D :), a DVD - ROM (g) and a DVD - RW (w). Currently, I have all my Windows libraries on the D: drive. I am considering making it one of the new SSD the C: drive, using Paragon to migrate the content of HARD C: for the SSD drive. There is perhaps not a need for the existing C: HDD after that; Besides, I may even need to remove the HARD drive in order to have a Bay to install the SSD/support. I intend to replace one of the DVD writers with the Blu - ray player.

    All comments are welcome!

UPDATE: I called a crucial technical support informing them that their advisor of SSD is in offline mode. The technician I spoke with knew very well what I'm trying to accomplish. According to him, there is no need to install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager - driver as the native Windows driver should be enough. I'll do an OS migration - so in this case, perhaps, the native Windows driver is not present?

    Chris,

You only need to run 'fix' If your BIOS is currently set to ATA and you will have to change to RAID. If you are already set up to RAID, you will not have this difficulty. However, I would make sure you run the latest version of the Intel RST (this replaces the former matrix storage driver).

I think your plan is fine, except that I would simply connect the SSD to a SATA, not a USB adapter port. Boot from Paragon Disk or flash drive, depending on what you got and run the clone operation.

Most of the people who swap HDDs to SSDS retain their hard drives for data. Keep this in mind for your planning.

I think that most of the problems of performance with SSDS just frankly cloning a Windows installation that is congested or possibly running in ATA mode. That's why I went to the trouble to do a clean install. It's a little more forward work, but now I have an image of the installation with my drivers and applications that I can restore to the DSS at any time in a few minutes.

  • Dell XPS 18 windows 8 tiles and CD key issues

    Greetings,

I just buy Dell XPS 18, i3-3227u, 4 GB of Ram.

-When the RMB (right button) on a tile, I can see a checkmark appears briefly and disappears.  I don't see any option to remove or install new tiles.  Am I missing something?

-Where can I find the keys to Windows 8 CD installed on my system?  I look at my Dell app and quick guide provided without result.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To get your key of Windows 8 use the VB of MS script

    http://Gallery.technet.Microsoft.com/scriptcenter/backup-Windows-product-key-1a200645

Depending on the application you are trying to install the uninstall is not available. Probably these are programs by default Windows 8 as the camera application.

Another reason from what I saw was that the applications do not provide an uninstall of all (poorly written) application.

To remove or add new tiles, go to applications (in the main of scroll down screen), right-click on the application and click on what you want to do.

  • CrossfireX, ATI Radeon HD 3870 + XPS 630i Windows 7

    Hello

I have a Dell XPS 630i with (2) ATI Radeon 3870 HDs in CrossfireX configuration (by default when bought). It originally shipped with Vista 32 bit and worked very well under all future versions of updated drivers and catalyst and catalyst.

I recently installed Windows 7 64 bit on a separate partition, and that's where the trouble starts. Windows 7 recognizes both of my cards under Device Manager, however during the installation of the latest catalyst suite and drivers (9.1); It does not recognize that there is a CrossfireX configuration and therefore won't give me CrossfireX option in the menu drop-down graphics (in advanced view). Under information, it shows that one of my cards is the main Board (which is my monitor is attached to) and the other (secondary) is set to disabled.

I read a little about these cards, as well as the ATI that Dell uses a tweak of specific motherboard (and thus a specific driver) cards to make these cards work in crossfire on a so-called nVidia motherboard, as I understand it. However, I have no idea about the validity of this claim.

My question is: what exactly should I do to activate my card secondary catalyst so that the CrossfireX option will appear in the drop-down list in the view advanced in Windows 7 64 bit?

I am ready to provide any other information if it will help find a solution to this problem.

Thanks in advance for any information submitted.

I solved this problem yesterday. You need to download the original video drivers on the site of Dell XPS 630i section and install them. This measure of Crossfire on the cards, you can then uninstall the old drivers and use a program like Driver Sweeper to remove all the remains of drivers. Then install the latest version of the suite Catalyst and after restarting it should recognize your Crossfire configuration.

    Kind regards.

  • XPS 8300 & Windows 10 - NIC & Intel RST problems

A day I watching a notification in the taskbar bar saying my I found was on my way to a free update of Windows 10 in Win 7.  Later, I came to realize that Windows was making changes under the hood.

Change of .NET Framework has erupted following Microsoft Expression Web and Capture One Pro. After the upgrade they automagically work once again. Stop this process needed to back up the PC and antics with windows update in order to block the update which starts the upgrade to Win10.

I do not any notice, pushed me into running on this PC, Dell services, but anyway I'm here because I left the proceeding upgrade.

Uh oh. Problems. Crashing LAN (WAN is fine) and Intel RST service does not, but IAstorDataSvc consumes 15% cpu. I went to Dell and they recommend does not update this machine.

I tried to roll back the driver for the CARD without success and I ordered a card adapter to fit. I tried to launch the Intel chipset update utility, but he could not find the compatible devices.

My more immediate concern is this PC is running RAID 0 and Intel RST service does not work properly. My understanding is that there is no cancellation of the RAID 0 unless you are ready to reinstall the operating system.

What are my options? Can I disable the startup of Intel services associated with this process? Is there another way to update the RST services that work with my XPS8300? Another option, I don't think?

    TIA,

    RandyN
