XPS 410 processor upgrade

Hello

I have a XPS 410 aging which I've recently updated with an ATI 6870 and a larger rated PSU from 600 watts.

I also want to upgrade the CPU but found on this socket 775 on this machine is limited to CPU rated at 1066.

A series of E7600 would work on this?  or am I limited to a Q6600 or E6800? my current cpu is the 6420, I see a difference?

Thanks a lot for helping me to see what the limits are.

franckler

The XPS410/9200 supports 65nm processors, the E7600 is a 45nm processor and is not supported.

You can find a list of compatible processors for the XPS 410 in a post by Chris M HERE

Before installing the processor, you must upgrade the BIOS with the latest version, 2.5.3, because with version 2.5.1 new CPU Support has been added.

Note: The Core 2 Quad Q6700, is not listed but is compatible.

  • Can XPS 410 - we have a list of all THE processors that are compatible from the Bios DXP061-020501

I know I know, this has been asked several times on the forums. The problem is that is scattered between so many threads and I'd like to see in one place a list of all CPU that work on the XPS 410 from the current version of Bios DXP061-020501 compatable. It would be nice for a forum mod to publish a complete list of processors supported and then perhaps same sticky it.

  • Del XPS 410

The above PC has an LGA 775 motherboard E210882, my question is: on this Pc can install a Core 2 Duo processor? If so, can I move the Mem of Ram from 2 GB to 4 or 8 GB perhaps?

It comes with an Intel® Viiv™ processor.

The XPS 410 BIOS version 2.5.3 will recognize not all Core 2 Duo E6700 processors above and the max is the Core 2 Quad Q6700.  The BIOS update should be done BEFORE the CPU upgrade.

8gigs may work but 2 gig DDR2 PC 6400 is hard to find and expensive.

Here is what I have installed and its been working like a champ! 8GB

  • Dell XPS 410 memory capacity

    Hello

I have a XPS 410 aging badly need of an overhaul.  It is a great machine that I have maintained quite well for the past nine years.  Currently, it has 3 GB of RAM installed (1 x 2 GB and 512 MB x 2), but I wanted to start with the RAM upgrade.

The motherboard has been replaced 2 years ago, and the person who repaired told me that it would be useful to simply upgrade of components if I have the skill.  When it was sold in 2005/2006 he says he has a maximum capacity of 4 GB RAM, but I've seen many posts (which are a few years, btw) it could contain 8 GB (4x2Go RAM modules.  I was wondering if it can be improved to 12 GB (4 x 2 + 2 x 2) or even 16 GB also (4 x 4 GB).  I guess it comes down to, you can install a 4 GB RAM module? or is too high to 2 GB?

Intend to do a small upgrade RAM, adding SSD or readers, another small upgrade RAM, replacement of processors and perhaps eventually adding a map interface SATA if it would be beneficial.  In the end, the only original thing to this device would be the card reader, network card and the case!  Thank you for any advice you can give me.

You can not go to 16 gig.  8 GB is possible but only with compatible non buffered non ecc non registered Ram of LOW density.   DDR2 is dead or missing since the retail channel.  If you get a Precision T3500 opportunity that uses DDR3, you're more likely to keep it for a few years.  The max ram is the same precision 380 or XPS400.  You have 4 slots, 4 x 2 gig is possible as well as 4 x 1 gig.  You can find a T3400 precision with 4 GB or more of ram is the same as the cost of 8 GB of ram only.

  • Update graphic XPS 410 map

Here I go again with my XPS 410.  In any case, I recently tried the upgrade to the 64-bit version of Windows 10.  It worked, but my graphics were all foires.  I had updated before the GeForce 7300LE to the GeForce 7900GTX, but he would not go at full resolution, animations are not smooth and the Device Manager does not even recognize the card graph.  Does anyone know a place where I can find a good driver for windows 64 bits 10, or can someone give me a list of compatible graphics cards so I can go if I have to?

Hi everyone, just solved my problem by chance, so in case anyone has the same problem as me, here's how I solved it:

    1. go to this link: http://www.driverscape.com/manufacturers.  Scroll down to find your card manufacturer (NVIDIA, in my case) chart (this should work for any driver and any computer, simply go to the home page)

    2. find your graphics card, click the link, scroll down to where you see your operating system.  Click on the download button

3 unzip files in Windows Explorer to a directory where you will be able to find it later.

    4. press on the Windows key + R to bring up the "Run" dialog box and type, the "devmgmt.msc" which will bring you to the management console where you can see all your drivers

    5. find your driver of graphics under "graphics cards".  If you need to update the driver, then you can see the model of your graphics card.  If you need to install a driver, you will see, "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter."

    6. regardless of what he he labeled as do top right click and click on 'update driver... '. "once you are there, click on"install from a specific location ".

    7. There should be a space for a directory of files.  Click "Browse...". "and find the directory that you have unpacked the files and click the folder that contains the driver files

    8. click on the button "next".  Your driver should install, and if it isn't, you may want to download driver software of digitization.

  • Update the video card in Battlefield 3 for XPS 410?

    Hey all,.

I have a question about upgrading the video card in my XPS 410.  I am currently using a nVidia GeForce 9500 GT video card, which has served me well for purposes of casual games.  However, I like to play Battlefield 3, but according to the nVidia website, this video card does not meet the minimum specifications.  So there is another card that I could update?  I am seriously thinking to buy a new PC in the fall, so I don't want to spend too much money on a new map (especially considering that my PC is long in the tooth that is).  In my view, that the XPS 410 has a 375W PSU, which also complicates things.

Any suggestions?  nVidia or Radeon is fine.

    Thank you!

    Scott

You would be a mistake.  Many have used the HD 6770 their Dell 375 Watt power supplies.  The HD 6770 would be a card game much better on the HD especially for BF3 6670.   You will use probably not much more than a total of 250 watts for your system in the game and even less if not.   The recommended minimum of card is the 8800 GT and HD 6670 is probably just equal to it.  However, the HD 6770 exceeds it so I think you'll be much happier.  Here's one that I would consider.  He has a $20 rebate.

  • My trusty DELL XPS 410

Need a little help. My trusty XPS 410, bought in 2007, the hard drive is dead. So I try with a new hard drive upgrade from Vista x 32 for Win 7 x 64. I'm not a novice to the upgrades of the computer and new buildings, but it's really left me speechless.

With the replacement of the hard disk installed (not new), 250GB. I can get the Windows 7 installation disc to read, but once I start the format/install process. It starts the process and "freezes", towers of circles but nothing happens, for a few hours... then finally I get an error that Windows could not complete the format install process.

I updated the BIOS and tried another hard drive, with the same result. Funny, Vista will reinstall without problem. This is a generation of pretty generic factory, with no real upgrade. I don't have the money to buy a new PC.

I am posting this work, I'll get more information from her tonight. and after another message tomorrow. Thanks for any help.

You boot from the Windows 7 installation disc? Windows 7 x 64 should be quite compatible with the XPS 410. The installation disc is maybe bad?

  • XPS 410 with no sign of life

I came home today to find my dead XPS 410. I don't get the rotation of the fan, no diagnostic lights, no light on the power switch, nothing. I tested the outlet it is plugged, so this isn't the problem.

I didn't have problems before, so I really have nothing to do.

I guess it's food, but really have no idea. Please give me some tips on how to diagnose and how to replace the power supply if this is the question.

    Thanks for any help!

    jumpyg

First check that all the cables for power and data are correctly connected, including the cables on the front panel.

If you're comfortable working around computers, you can try the following:

Note: The only 100% POWER supply test method, is to install a known working power.

Unplug the power cord, hold the power button in for about 15-20 seconds, open the case, disconnect the power connector 24-pin motherboard and jumping the Green wire to one of the black wires, plug in the power cord and the power of the system, if the PSU, case fans and disk hard drive performance then the power supply can be good.

Note: Do not remove the wires from the plug, use a small piece of wire or a paper clip as a rider.

Extract supply and the system still does not work, yet once remove the power cord, hold button power in a few seconds to discharge residual power, reconnect the connector 24 pin to the motherboard.

Remove any PCI video card [as appropriate], memory cards, all the devices, unplug data cables and power to all readers, check that the cable from the front panel is connected to the motherboard, without anything else connected to the system, reconnect the power cable and power the system on.

If there is no difference in the diagnostic lights, a "Beep" codes and/or the indication of the LED on the power button, it would seem that the motherboard is dead or maybe the processor.

Note: The good news is, processors lack rarely, being the only method I know to check a processor, install a compatible work PC, or use a known job processing.

Alternatively, install a food 'known' work to see if that makes a difference.

XPS410/9200 system does not use an exclusive power of Dell, you can use a standard ATX power supply with either a motherboard 24 power connector pins or 20 + 4 pin main.

This system has an open rear panel, a power supply with or without the on/off switch can be used.

Note: You need a PSU with six SATA power connectors.

It is necessary to buy a decent power to most local computer stores and online.

I would say that the safe bet for the best processor the E7400.

Your PC was introduced in March 2008.

I fear the E7500 and E7600 that came out in 2009, will not be managed because I can't update the BIOS of your PC that adds support for the latest processors.

  • Processor upgrade questions

    Hi all.

(For a year or two), I have the HP Pavilion p7-1235 with is provided with processor A8-5500 and 7560 integrated graphics. I intend to add a discrete GPU to 7750 and a 500 Watt power supply. I use this desktop computer for everyday tasks, surf the web, etc. But I also play casual games on Steam. I also have the Sims 3 (base game) is installed.  The last time I played this game, fifiteen minutes at the level of the fan (I guess CPU) kicking on.  It also happened when I tried Roller Coaster Tycoon 3.

Now I don't know if it of because the cpu is dusty or cannot handle these 2 games. According to the technical specifications of HP, I know I can upgrade the processor to an A10-5700 or A10 - 5800 k? It would give me better performance game-wise? Or just do the upgrade to graphical power and power would be sufficient? Also, when a processor upgrade, would I have to mess with the BIOS?

    http://h20565.www2.HP.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.page/public/KB/docDisplay/?sp4ts.Oid=5187022&SPF...

Set to upgrade to an A10-5700 will provide that almost no improvement in the CPU of the tasks not related. Upgrading an A10 - 5800K provide a 5% improvement in CPU related tasks. Your best bet is too make sure all dirt and dust is collected inside the case, fans and heat sinks. Then install the GPU and PSU upgrades and monitor your computer for the fan kicks at the top. With the GPU load moved to the discreet graphics card, the APU (UC) should be less stressed.
