XPS 410 with no sign of life

I came home today to find my dead XPS 410. I don't get the rotation of the fan, no diagnostic lights, no light on the power switch, nothing. I tested the outlet it is plugged, so this isn't the problem.

I didn't have problems before, so I really have nothing to do.

I guess it's food, but really have no idea. Please give me some tips on how to diagnose and how to replace the power supply if this is the question.

Thanks for any help!

First check that all the cables for power and data are correctly connected, including the cables on the front panel.

If you're comfortable working around computers, you can try the following:

Note: The only 100% POWER supply test method, is to install a known working power.

Unplug the power cord, hold the power button in for about 15-20 seconds, open the case, disconnect the power connector 24-pin motherboard and jumping the Green wire to one of the black wires, plug in the power cord and the power of the system, if the PSU, case fans and disk hard drive performance then the power supply can be good.

Note: Do not remove the wires from the plug, use a small piece of wire or a paper clip as a rider.

Extract supply and the system still does not work, yet once remove the power cord, hold button power in a few seconds to discharge residual power, reconnect the connector 24 pin to the motherboard.

Remove any PCI video card [as appropriate], memory cards, all the devices, unplug data cables and power to all readers, check that the cable from the front panel is connected to the motherboard, without anything else connected to the system, reconnect the power cable and power the system on.

If there is no difference in the diagnostic lights, a "Beep" codes and/or the indication of the LED on the power button, it would seem that the motherboard is dead or maybe the processor.

Note: The good news is, processors lack rarely, being the only method I know to check a processor, install a compatible work PC, or use a known job processing.

Alternatively, install a food 'known' work to see if that makes a difference.

XPS410/9200 system does not use an exclusive power of Dell, you can use a standard ATX power supply with either a motherboard 24 power connector pins or 20 + 4 pin main.

This system has an open rear panel, a power supply with or without the on/off switch can be used.

Note: You need a PSU with six SATA power connectors.

It is necessary to buy a decent power to most local computer stores and online.

  • Satellite A30 monitor shows no sign of life

    Hello
my monitor shows no sign of life even if the rest of the computer (HD lights etc) lights up.

    Help.

Hey Dudu (nice name as a beatle vw :-))

I would recommend the external monitor to check if it s only a bad configuration monitor, screen dead or something wrong with the graphics card.
If you see something on the screen then please check if you switch to the external display device. But if all the parameters are good, and you will be see on the screen of the laptop and the external display, so I guess there must be something wrong with the graphics card.

  • HP ENVY 15 TS - J1Y24EA #ABU: integrated fingerprint reader, no sign of life

    Hello
Recently my fingerprint reader built in nature, will not show any signs of life, it won't be or see the windows settings or smart pass upward. Even when I run my finger on it, it shows no lights, or whatever it is.
When he started, when I opened my laptop, security issue would simply pop up. Meaning that he tried to read my footprint three times. Even though I hadn't touched.

    I'm sorely confused.
I've updated simplepass and she came again.
I tried an update to the Device Manager and the fingerprint reader itself.

I have disabled and einabled it just in case.

I was going to update my laptop, but I would lose so all HP programs, including simplepass. And it would take hours to get it all back again. I really want to try this option.

    Thank you in advance,

    Kverko.

Hello! There, I had so many problems with my reader of fingerprints and here's what I did using fix for awhile

Step 1: Uninstall this driver from the Control Panel Validity WBF DDK

    Step 2: Restart the PC

Step 3: Type in the HP Recovery Manager boot screen

Step 4: Reinstall the Driver Validity WBF DDK

Step 5: It should work now, if it does not repeat the same steps a few times I have to repeat the same steps again

    Good luck!

  • {a} speaker on a clean install, XPS 410 - Spware Possible problems / Malware *.

I recently did a clean install on my XPS 410 due to blue screen problems when you set up a wireless network in my house.  Everything seemed to go well--is something that I did several times on multiple computers, this one included.  But this time my speaker system (Dell A525 30 Watt stereo speakers with subwoofer 2.1) obviously caused a problem.  I have the drivers for all my devices on my external hard drive, and they are labeled.  The driver for the loaded speaker system but was still yellow in Device Manager.  I also kept getting the message directly after loading windows: "entry point procedure LocalizeString is not found in the dynamic library STLang.dll."  I could click OK and continue. Slowly.  I looked on the net and find it is quite frequent - everyone seems to have a way to heal, but there are always strings, and none of them work in all cases.  One thing all agreed terms of sound equipment.  And it was the only yellow marked item, I had.  In fact, he showed in device as Manager: "SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC".

I became exasperated to the point I disconnected the sound system and removed from the room!  I have attached an old Dell speaker system and it worked for a few sounds and then stopped.  Finally, I removed the original system, as shown just on top, using Add/Remove programs.  After the message has disappeared so I am sure it was the problem.  Then, when I couldn't others in work, I decided to restore to the point just before I removed this system 'SigmaTel '.  Fake!  Of course, he came back as did the error message and I have been unable to get these old speakers installed no matter how hard I tried!  (I don't have the driver for that precisely, but the required system to come with something that didn't work).  Again, I tried to uninstall the SigmaTel program but it wouldn't let me!  It would take me to a Web site that was of no use to me.

In its current form, I spilled the system restore point and the SigmaTel is gone as is the error message.  But I have no system of his work on my 410.

Any ideas out there?  I was a member of this community almost since the first day and have had excellent results in the past.  I bet that someone knows how to help me.  (Anyone remember Denny Denham?  I know he's not there to help more. Always wondered what happened to him.)

    Thanks in advance.  Bessie

It is up to you, but analysts on sites like SpywareInfoForums, SpywareHammer, Bleeping Computer, Geeks to go, The technical support Forumsand MalwareRemoval Forums, in contrast to support tech OEM and other forums, are trained to stay with you to the resolution and to remove their tools (assuming that yields of poster for tracking) so that they do not remain on the system to help you "trouble." They probably perform you analyses to one or two who will spot (hopefully) corresponding to this registry entry. After that, they will give you a registry file that you can download and double-click to merge with your registry. This should solve the problem. We have used to do this free individual support here, but Dell abandoned a year ago.

I wish you luck for any route you choose to take.

The above PC has an LGA 775 motherboard E210882, my question is: on this Pc can install a Core 2 Duo processor? If so, can I move the Mem of Ram from 2 GB to 4 or 8 GB perhaps?

  • XPS 410 processor upgrade

    Hello

I have a XPS 410 aging which I've recently updated with an ATI 6870 and a larger rated PSU from 600 watts.

I also want to upgrade the CPU but found on this socket 775 on this machine is limited to CPU rated at 1066.

A series of E7600 would work on this?  or am I limited to a Q6600 or E6800? my current cpu is the 6420, I see a difference?

Thanks a lot for helping me to see what the limits are.

    franckler

The XPS410/9200 supports 65nm processors, the E7600 is a 45nm processor and is not supported.

You can find a list of compatible processors for the XPS 410 in a post by Chris M HERE

Before installing the processor, you must upgrade the BIOS with the latest version, 2.5.3, because with version 2.5.1 new CPU Support has been added.

Note: The Core 2 Quad Q6700, is not listed but is compatible.

  • Lenovo 3000 N500 died (signs of life)

    Hello

    I have a Lenovo 3000 N500.

The days before the accident, I had a few blue screens. Due to some forum entries, blue screens messages seems to be related to a hardware error (RAM).

After a blue screen, I couldn't reboot the system. The startup Lenovo screen showed all the time. Then I removed the battery. Since then, the laptop is quite dead. There is absolutely no sign of life: no light shines, no response after pressing the button there.

Fortunately, I was able to get the laptop hard drive to back up my data.

I tried to exchange the RAM, but without success.

You have any other ideas I cound trying to save my laptop?

    Kind regards

    Bene

you have a serious problem with hard drive, ram, motherboard or graphics card.

you have a warranty? If so, I suggest you to contact lenovo support line and ship your laptop.

also, how long have you used the computer?

  • Update graphic XPS 410 map

Here I go again with my XPS 410.  In any case, I recently tried the upgrade to the 64-bit version of Windows 10.  It worked, but my graphics were all foires.  I had updated before the GeForce 7300LE to the GeForce 7900GTX, but he would not go at full resolution, animations are not smooth and the Device Manager does not even recognize the card graph.  Does anyone know a place where I can find a good driver for windows 64 bits 10, or can someone give me a list of compatible graphics cards so I can go if I have to?

Hi everyone, just solved my problem by chance, so in case anyone has the same problem as me, here's how I solved it:

    1. go to this link: http://www.driverscape.com/manufacturers.  Scroll down to find your card manufacturer (NVIDIA, in my case) chart (this should work for any driver and any computer, simply go to the home page)

    2. find your graphics card, click the link, scroll down to where you see your operating system.  Click on the download button

3 unzip files in Windows Explorer to a directory where you will be able to find it later.

    4. press on the Windows key + R to bring up the "Run" dialog box and type, the "devmgmt.msc" which will bring you to the management console where you can see all your drivers

    5. find your driver of graphics under "graphics cards".  If you need to update the driver, then you can see the model of your graphics card.  If you need to install a driver, you will see, "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter."

    6. regardless of what he he labeled as do top right click and click on 'update driver... '. "once you are there, click on"install from a specific location ".

    7. There should be a space for a directory of files.  Click "Browse...". "and find the directory that you have unpacked the files and click the folder that contains the driver files

    8. click on the button "next".  Your driver should install, and if it isn't, you may want to download driver software of digitization.

  • No sound... Dell XPS 410

Hello!  I'm having the same problem of sound/audio, many others have some.  My old drivers will not be installed since the site dell.com b/c my computer (Dell XPS 410) indicates that the Windows 7 operating system does not recognize the drivers and only Vista/XP will.

THEN!... I'm kinda stuck... I have tried what seems like countless other recommended drivers.  My digital audio device SigmaTel record sound when I play it.  My speakers/headphones, however, indicate that they are not connected.  I just reformatted my computer tonight, and I have not changed the physical connections from Vista to W7.  So, I'm not sure WHY it tells me that my speakers are not connected...

    Hi Smoujo,

Welcome to Windows 7 answers Forums!

First of all, you can try to download the drivers from the Dell website and install it in Windows Vista compatibility mode by following the steps.

Click on folder of the downloaded driver and select Properties. In properties of compatibility and check run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows Vista.

You can also activate the hidden device, activate the right speakers. And check if you can solve the problem.

    1. open Panel.

    2. click on the audio icon.

    3. click on the Read tab.

    4. right click on a box empty and click Show disabled devices.

    5. you will now see the audio devices disabled with the arrow pointing down on them.

    6. right click on the disabled audio device you want to enable and Activate it.

    7. click on the Recording tab.

    8. right click on a box empty and click on Show disabled devices.

    9. you will now see the audio devices disabled with the arrow pointing down on them.

    10. Right click on the disabled audio device you want to enable and Activate it.

You can consult the following links for more information about the resolution of the problems of sound:

  • Add SSD to the Studio XPS 8100 with 2 HARD drive

    Hello

I have a request similar to this one in this thread: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/disk-drives/f/3534/p/19499585/20334228.aspx#20334228 but I went a little lower on the line, need some advice and help on the Intel Rapid Storage Technology controller.

I have a Dell Studio XPS 8100 with discs of Segate to 2 x 1 TB which have stripes.

    Configuration is SATA 1 + 2 = hard disks scratched; 3 = BluRay ROM/DVD RW SATA; SATA 4 = not used.

    I bought a Samsung SSD 840 series.

What I want to do is add the new SSD controller and install Windows 8 without messing/breaking the existing 2 x HDD Striped Array.

First, I installed the SSD SATA 4 and started Windows 8 to DVD but Windows 8 says it could not install on this disk because it is not bootable (SSD is not formatted/not partitioned right now but I guess that Windows 8 installation will do for me.

    If the questions are:

    (1) if I go the SSD SATA 1, could I (physically) move the existing striped 2 HDD SATA 2 and 3 and set this configuration in technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology controller without losing the striped table?  I don't want to find that the controller will set up a table of fees which then requires a fresh format in order to to use.

    (2) is there a documentation of this controller I could read on what concerns the reconfiguration/options and their effect?

    Thank you
    Chris

I am pleased to learn that you have to work.  Sometimes I forget that the newer Dell BIOS will allow allows you to select a SATA port for the start.  My XPS 410, being an older machine, allows me only to the ability to choose 'SATA hard drive' as boot device.  Because it does not give me the option to choose a specific port, the bootable SATA drive must be attached to the first port.

Once a RAID has been configured, the parametric data written to readers allow the RAID ROM figure out how the RAID has been configured.  I've been through all this on a Studio XPS 435 t/9000; We had a problem after adding a new video card in the system that caused startup failure, error message "one or more of your drives are locked".  We have solved by moving readers from the ports of third and fourth (or Dell originally installed them) to the ports of first and second.  Requirement to keep records in the same relative order of port, you can of course make this transition and maintain the operational computer.

I wish that your installation does not end with an arrangement of dualboot on its own; Maybe Windows 8 works differently from Windows 7.  The XPS 410, I'm currently using is a RAID 0 which has been initially configured with Windows XP.  When I decided to try Windows 7, I has narrowed the original partition and run the Windows 7 Installer to install in the unallocated space resulting.  The installation went normally and I found myself with a system dual boot without ever having had the opportunity to indicate that I wanted a system dual boot.  Since it was my goal, I'm not complaining, but I see that it might be inconvenient for some people who had the intention like that.  Before installation, you accidentally set your SSD on port 4 to be the first in the boot order?

  • Dimension 9200 / XPS 410 Wireless connection?

Hello, I've tried a search in order to answer to this question, but could not find a search option. In any case, I have a Dell XPS 410. He was a great PC. Year at this same time last burned capacitors on the motherboard and I had to have someone to replace me. During the replacement of the part, I also improved for Windows 7. Now, it's really nice. My question is: since my XPS 410 has not been implemented for wireless and has no wireless card, what are the best options for me to put this PC on a network home in another area of my house? I would use it in my office, away from the cable modem and the wireless router that is running on the network home right now. It's a wireless router Netgear N600 I want to connect with, and wonder; do I need a wireless card installed on the motherboard, or in my quest for answers, I noticed the USB wireless adapters. And I just want to know which would be best for me in terms of distance/reception, etc.

Suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance;

  • Tungsten C that show few signs of life.

I have a couple of Tungsten C, that does not illuminate. But when put in an engine cradle, the green lights light up and screens light up white and, in one case, sparkle. They also have the grey Tower after a while. But they show no other signs of life and, when detached from the base, the screens turns off immediately.

I wonder if replacing the battery would do something useful. Or is there any other suggestions?

In addition, I have a couple of other C which works with the same cradle (as do my T2 and T3), so that the cradle and USB connection are OK.

Devices certainly indicate that the batteries are dead.

There are many places online where the batteries can be bought.  And here's one:

  • My trusty DELL XPS 410

Need a little help. My trusty XPS 410, bought in 2007, the hard drive is dead. So I try with a new hard drive upgrade from Vista x 32 for Win 7 x 64. I'm not a novice to the upgrades of the computer and new buildings, but it's really left me speechless.

With the replacement of the hard disk installed (not new), 250GB. I can get the Windows 7 installation disc to read, but once I start the format/install process. It starts the process and "freezes", towers of circles but nothing happens, for a few hours... then finally I get an error that Windows could not complete the format install process.

I updated the BIOS and tried another hard drive, with the same result. Funny, Vista will reinstall without problem. This is a generation of pretty generic factory, with no real upgrade. I don't have the money to buy a new PC.

I am posting this work, I'll get more information from her tonight. and after another message tomorrow. Thanks for any help.

You boot from the Windows 7 installation disc? Windows 7 x 64 should be quite compatible with the XPS 410. The installation disc is maybe bad?
