XPS 730 of its failure

I am running Vista 32-bit SP2 and my sound card is a Creative Soundblaster X - Fi

2 days ago, that everything worked well yesterday there was no noise. The sound worked perfectly before and nothing is no indication that the card may be faulty.

When I try the X - Fi shortcuts, I get a window saying the current selected audio device is not supported by the application or the audio device supported by this application is not detected.

The assigned shortcuts are Console Launcher, Diagnostics Creative, Midi player andTHX installation creative shortened any other Console opens a window.

The volume mixer shows only SPDIF and the sounds of windows.

Creative SB X - fi Device Manager displays both Realtek HD audio that is said work ok and have no conflict, there is no warning icons displayed against them to the devices.

I tried restoring the system to where the sound was working, but who do not have restore. When I try to play sounds volume indicators on the mixer and Media Player suggests that sound signals are still produced.

The modification of the computer is only updates windows during the night between when he was working and where it does not. These updates were security updates an Outlook Update, and the malicious windows security tool so nothing unusual.

So far, the only advice I found online is to reinstall / update the drivers, uninstall and reinstall the software and uninstall the software to remove the map its re - turn on the PC without it back the card then reinstall the software I still try

I checked and nothing is cut I also tried the headphone jack on the front of the pc, just in case the rear plug had become defective.

Further advice or information from someone who has already had theis problem would be helpful including a method of map.

In addition, any suggestions for a replacement card suitable for this pc if I'm unable to solve the problem would be useful.

Don

Hi Don,

Here's the audio for this sound card driver. Have you checked the Device Manager for errors of this device?

  • XPS 730 Bios and the upgrade of computer

    Hello world

I put to level my computer XPS 730 (2008) a failure of the HD, installing more RAM, windows 7 64 bit. and an updated video card.

I read online that I maybe need to Flash the bios for the new ram work, I have never flashed the bios on my computer before because I was always afraid that I might do something wrong and cause damage to the system.

Therefore, I was wondering if it would be better to install my Dell Vista OS 32 bit original which is consistent with my service tag and update the bios through this direct links tag with Dell then upgrade win7 Vista or do a clean installation of 7 or just install the new OS and download an update of the bios of Dell.

Any advice would be most appreciated

    Rebby27

Better to update the BIOS before any update is made

Also, carefully read the installation instructions to update the BIOS, before to Flash the BIOS.

I try to install Google Earth on my Windows Vista Edition home premium and its failure and I get an error message: 0 x 80070002, how can I fix?

The error message indicates "file not found" - which often means a bad download.

Try another download of Google Earth - if the operation fails with the error message, then...

There are a few things you can try to solve this problem: -.

    type in the search box
    CMD. EXE
Right-click on the single file that is
    Select run as administrator
-the elevated command prompt window should appear
    At the command prompt, type
    CHKDSK C: /R
    and press the Enter key
We'll tell you that the drive is locked and the CHKDSK runs the next time he started - press Y and restart. The chkdsk command will take a few hours depending on the size of the disk, so be patient!

Once executed, the command CHKDSK Windows should start normally (possibly after a second auto) - then run the SFC

SFC - SFC System - Instructions
    Click the Start button
    type in the search box
    CMD. EXE
Right-click on the single file that is
    Select run as administrator
-the elevated command prompt window should appear
    At the command prompt, type

    SFC/SCANNOW

    and press the Enter key
Wait for that analysis at the end - make a note of any error messages - and then restart.

    Try installation again

It is usually best to install the drivers before connecting the printer. Use the printer installation disk, if you have one, or follow the procedure here:

  • Dell XPS 730 x BIOS

Hello. So I have a question. Is the latest version of the BIOS for a Dell XPS 730 x 1.0.5 or can the 1.0.6 version be put on? I can't find a boot option in the BIOS from a USB flash drive 1.0.6. Current operating system is windows 7 ultimate.

I don't see BIOS 1.0.5 listed on the page support for the XPS 730x.

There is a BIOS for the XPS 730 1.0.6 and 730 H2C, but it's NOT for the 730x.

  • Replacement card mother XPS 730

I've had problems with my 730 for a few years now. Initially, research told me that the power supply or capacitors were the cause. I bought a handful of replacement capacitors and took part, the system to replace the suggested guilty. The system has become very stable from there, but recently, the symptoms returned. The system crashes suddenly, keyboard and mouse are unresponsive, screen is frozen and sometimes a unique tone from the speakers. The only option is hard stop the start up. Sometimes, this can happen every few minutes last time once a week.

I replaced the sticks 4x1Go with sticks of 2 x 4 GB Patriot memory and the video card abandoned some time back then I have an ATI Radeon HD5770.

Recently, I replaced the original RAM but the gel has continued. When I replaced with the Patriot is frozen usually until I moved the second stick of the 2nd to the 3rd and then finally to the 4th slot. Now, it has been relatively stable.

Could there be something wrong with the memory slots?

I would do well to replace the motherboard with a new one? I found 4 on eBay for all about AUD100.

If your system is a 730, you need a 730 motberboard. If it is a 730 x, you will need a motherboard 730 x. They are not interchangeable between the two systems because the x 730 uses RAM DDR3 vs DDR2 on the 730 and a core i series processor vs Core 2 series and has a different take. ThomasLG

I'm trying to solve a Toshiba Satellite L40 and ask yourself how I diagnose a hardware failure.
Problem is that the free wireless and sound had stopped working and it would freeze whenever a USB device has been inserted.

Decided to do the new install of XP, but it failed each time to 34 minutes.
I've suspected of hardware failure as well as a USB was curved touching another PIN to cause a short circuit.
Bent it back but install still failed at 34 minutes.

Remove the wireless card, always not so I removed the modem and it went through without error.
Installation of two causes fall in XP install.
Have installed all the latest drivers and even flashed the BIOS, however, still have the following problems:
Insertion of a USB device causes yet portable no freeze, no sound and wireless / modem not picked up by windows during the installation after the installation.

It is possible that the 'short' USB has damaged a controller on the motherboard is causing the failure of these devices?

    Any help would be appreciated

    > 1. Exclamation point on "Microsoft UAA bus driver for High Def Audio"
Win Xp requires the Sp2 and Sp3.
Patches are part of service packs and are necessary for its work.

The internal webcam is connected to the USB controller then perhaps, you add the webcam software.
Otherwise this could have something to do with the USB port defective

  • Noise of Dell Studio XPS 9100 CPU fan failure CPU fan

My Dell Studio XPS 9100 did a loud intermittent noise for a few months and then last week I got a CPU fan fault message while booting. I blew all the dust from the fan and I always get the CPU fan failure message. I finally got the system starts by placing a small fan blowing air into the funnel will CPU/processor fan.

Alas, my warranty expired 2 weeks ago. I'm kicking myself contacting technical support a few months ago, when the problem started.

I need to replace the fan. What parts need me, and where can I get them?

    Thanks much for the reply.

Thank you. After being tossed a little I transferred to the sales and ordered a new CPU fan for a cost total which includes shipping and taxes of $42.25. Too bad it wasn't 2 weeks ago, then she would have been free.

The seller said that I would not need thermal paste. Is this correct?

    Best regards

  • XPS 8700 Hard Drive failure - after less than TWO WEEKS

I'm a little frustrated.  I recently ordered a new Dell and XPS 8700 office.  Everything seems to work well.  Then yesterday I walked away from my office for 5 minutes, and when I came back, I got a screen saying my computer could no longer starts.  After spending some time on the phone, we confirmed what I already suspected, that my hard drive has failed.  This was after less than two weeks!  Is this a common problem with the recent Dells?  I am certainly not happy having to wait several days understood of the technology that will be (according to the support person) that I spoke) an appointment to install a new hard drive.  I'm more frustrated that I'll lose data, installed applications and settings that I have spent the last two weeks on.  I assumed that if I had to look on the bright side of things, it wasn't months or years of work that was lost, but I fear that the replacement of the HDD will suffer the same fate on the road, making me lose a lot more work.  Besides than to spend the money to set up a backup system, how to avoid this problem in the future?  And what is the level of reliability of hard disks installed in the 8700 s XPS?

Dell uses a variety of brands of hard drive of their computer. HGST, WD, Seagate and Toshiba are trademarks used. Your next hard drive could be one of those, there is a chance it will be different than what you have now. As with all hard drives, they will be eventually. some quickly, other overtime. I wouldn't worry about replacement drive failure. If so, check and see if it was the same as the previous disc.

Twice in the past four weeks, my computer would be locked up in the morning. I had to cut the power and it reboot OK. Now all of a sudden, I get a boot failure of the disk on the 2 TB drive. I'm running Windows 7 Pro - where I was before the accident.

I tried to start Windows Recovery and he complained that it could not be fixed corruption"ACL."

I don't know about you, but I sure see a lot of SATA disk failures. It's scary. I've got good backups.

Advice what I should do next? Pointing me to an operating instructions would be greatly appreciated.

I did F12 at startup and run extended test. It failed with the message:

    ERROR CODE: 2000-01 42

I would add that it's still on the 3 month warranty.

  • XPS 730 X lower panel

Is it possible to remove the bottom panel of the Office? I need to remove the heat sink for the CPU, but I can't really reach the screws faced the lower part of the office.

According to the Manual, you can remove the heat sink in the 730 x just by loosening the screws 'captives' on top of the motherboard.

There are therefore should not be necessary to access the other side of the Commission.

Don't know how much RAM Kingston was physically installed during this test, but he sees only 8 GB. And no matter if the Crucial scan will work or not.

The question is what is the maximum amount of RAM that can take in charge the BIOS and chipset of the motherboard?

You can install as much RAM you want, but if the BIOS and chipset can use only 8 GB, there is nothing you can do to change that. So you can waste your time and money...

  • my hard drive backup is not available because its failure I need a copy that I have a licience.

My main hard drive does not, therefore I can't re install back to the part of the backup disk factory settings. Is it possible to get a copy of XP that will work with this original licience?

What is an OEM provided with Windows preinstalled machine? Contact the manufacturer of the computer. If it is a retail copy, what do you do with the CD? They are no longer available.

  • XPS 730 x usable ram?

Hi, im curious about the ram. I have 6 GB installed and I use only 2.99 GB?

A 32-bit version of Windows can only use a maximum of 4 GB of RAM. In order to have 6 GB installed is wasted.

And out of the 4 GB that 32-bit Windows can use, some are shared with video so not available for Windows. Not surprisingly only 2.99 is usable.

If you want to use all 6 GB of RAM, you will need to install a 64-bit version of Windows (plus all of your drivers, software, etc.).

  • Dell XPS 730 x i7 920 memory and SSD upgrades

OK, so after some looking around, I'm a little confused about what updates I can do on this old beast.

I was the first under the impression that my system can handle only 6 GB of ram. Now I read that it can actually take up to 12GB IF I update the BIOS (ever since purchase). Is this true?

Sideways SSD of things, I think that my system supports SATA 2... I don't see the SSD SATA2 drives. :( Is there a way to get around this?

I also wonder about energy consumption. Last I heard that my system is supposed to have a 980 Watt power supply (DELL H1000E-01). Will this be enough for one SSD and more the existing HARD drive and the 12 GB of ram? The only other bet that I made from the stock system was upgraded to a GTX 570 video card.

If upgrading ram is possible, which is the fastest RAM that I can use it safely? I've been out of the loop on PC tech for a while and looking at all types of RAM available these days is a bit daunting.

    Thanks for the replies. :)

The power supply is more than enough.  Check Crucial RAM compatible, they have a good scanner to see what you have and reliable memory for Dell computers. It can handle a 12 GB of ram - chips 2 to 4 GB were not available when the computer was new.

    Maximum memory: 12288MB
