XPS 730 Bios and the upgrade of computer

Hello world

I put to level my computer XPS 730 (2008) a failure of the HD, installing more RAM, windows 7 64 bit. and an updated video card.

I read online that I maybe need to Flash the bios for the new ram work, I have never flashed the bios on my computer before because I was always afraid that I might do something wrong and cause damage to the system.

Therefore, I was wondering if it would be better to install my Dell Vista OS 32 bit original which is consistent with my service tag and update the bios through this direct links tag with Dell then upgrade win7 Vista or do a clean installation of 7 or just install the new OS and download an update of the bios of Dell.

Any advice would be most appreciated

Rebby27

Better to update the BIOS before any update is made

Also, carefully read the installation instructions to update the BIOS, before to Flash the BIOS.

  • Adding more than one host ESX and the upgrade at the same time.  What is the order of preference of the operations here?

We are budgeting for more licenses and hardware for 2014 and want to do immediately in January.  I am trying to decide what is the best order of operations for adding two vmware hosts additional to our current installation of vsphere and also upgrade our vsphere / esx 4.1 u3 for the latest and best.

We have 3 Dell PowerEdge R710 running ESX 4.1 U3.  In this vmware cluster, there is a vcenter server 4.1 U3 virtual machine handle this.  The three servers are about 90% memory used so we add 2 additional servers.  Probably the Dell PowerEdge r.620 since we get up 2 in the space of a 710.  Storage is on a san EMC NX4 NFS which will become too but not yet, let's just deal with the vmware part.

When adding additional r.620 2, should I install ESX 4.1 on them and join them to the existing cluster and THEN pass vcenter and each one esx?  I ask precisely because 90% of use on 3 current servers, I need 2 other servers to support the update operations take place.  They would be able to repel vmotioned vm while each host receives an upgrade at the same time.

So which is the best way to go about adding of the hosts and the upgrade?  Would I add as 4.1, then they would be available as targets vmotion and so I have room to start the hosts one upgrade at a time?

If I update vcenter to the latest version, it is comparable backwards and can manage the 4.1 hosts, but also hosts 5.x?  I guess version 5.5 is the last one I would get from VMWare?  It is right of ESXi, then, how is this ESX ESXi 5.5 4.1 upgrade?  How much storage space do I need for ESXi 5.5, as I'm dechatoiement out of these r.620 Dell and need to know what hard drive to put in.

The steps that you must follow

    -Updated vCenter Server

-Upgrade of the ESX hosts (because we do a updating of the material we will install 5.5 on our new guests and add them to the cluster and then dismantle our existing)

    -Upgrade VMWare tools

    -Update data warehouses

ESXi 5.5 has these storage requirements:

    • Installing ESXi 5.5 requires a boot device is at least 1 GB in size. When booting from a local disk or SAN/LUN iSCSI, a 5.2 GB drive is necessary to allow for the creation of the VMFS volume and a scratch 4 GB partition on the boot device. If a smaller drive or logical unit number is used, the installation program attempts to allocate a region scratching on a separate local disk. If a local drive is not found, the scratch partition (/ scratch) is located on the disk virtual ESXi host, linked to the/tmp/scratch. You can reconfigure /scratch to use another drive or logical unit number. For best performance and memory optimization, VMware recommends that you leave no /scratch on the ESXi host ramdisk.
    • To reconfigure / scratch, see Configure the Scratch Partition of vSphere Client vSphere Installation and Installation Guide.
    • Because of the sensitivity of the I/O devices, USB and SD, the installation program does not create a partition scratch on these devices. Therefore, there is no tangible benefits to the use of the great features of USB/SD that ESXi uses only the first 1 GB. When installing on USB or SD, tent Setup devices to allocate a region scratching on a local disk or the data store. If no disk is local or data store, /scratch is placed on the virtual disk. You must reconfigure /scratch to use a persistent data store after the installation.
    • In Auto deploy facilities, Setup attempts to allocate a region scratching on a local disk or the data store. If no local disk or data store is found /scratch is placed on the virtual disk. You must reconfigure /scratch to use a persistent data store after the installation.
    • For environments that start from a San or use Auto Deploy, it is not necessary to assign a separate logical unit number for each ESXi host. You can co-locate areas scrape for several hosts ESXi on a single LUN. The number of hosts assigned to a single LUN must balance the size of the LUN and behavior I/O virtual machines.

    Hello

    I have two questions:

    1. I recently updated my bios version of laptops to 2.10 and replaced the hard drive with an SSD.
However, it seems that I can't enter the BIOS more.

I tried several buttons, but it just won't let me get bios of the laptop more.
Which button to use to access the BIOS?

    2. I want to upgrade the standard amount of memory from 4 GB to 8 GB.
Are there recommended RAM sets should I use because of compatibility issues?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Kind regards.

To access the BIOS press F2 at the beginning of the order started immediately after you have switched on the device, press F2 (press several times on the line)

    > 2. I want to upgrade the standard amount of memory from 4 GB to 8 GB.

Toshiba Satellite L500-1ZP laptop takes the type of RAM SODIMM SDRAM PC3-8500 DDR3-1066 MHz 204pin. I would recommend the manufacturer Kingston modules.

  • 5205 - update of the BIOS and the system locked up satellite

I have a Toshiba Satellite 5205, I updated the BIOS to 1.5 (I think it was.)

And the laptop locked up it seemed all in the bios flashing. The reason why I say shut up
is because windows never stop after the flash and windows was totally locked up.

Now when I turn on the laptop, I get no image on the LCD at all. And the remote control downwards at the front said "technician / bios call. I know that if the battery go dead bios will reset (like a desktop computer.)

But another problem is, can't get off the case to get at the battery, so he'll recover.
I never had too many problems with laptops, I can fix/repair computers office without problem.

I was wondering, bios clear/reset if I take the battery pack on the back of the computer laptop itself?
Don't know if it will have the same effect as the removal of the (watch battery inside like a normal desktop computer.)

I had a problem with my pad endangered and hang retouching who enter or exit Windows. It's
    why I decided to update.

    Because I don't get a picture now, I can't re-flashing the bios.

Any advice on that would be great.

    Hello James

If you remove the CMOS battery, it will have no influence. The BIOS is written in the BIOS chip and cannot be given to previous version before upgrading. The problem is that you have a United States model and I have no experience with the Toshiba U.S. models.

If you want to see the page we Toshiba under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_home.jsp

Maybe you can find something interesting there. In any case, from your description, I assume that the BIOS is faulty and you need technical assistance. Call them and ask what exactly the error message. Please give us a feedback on this problem. It may be useful for other users we Toshiba.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Satellite A60-106: Question about updating the BIOS and the BIOS Flash

Fact the BIOS Flash update the BIOS or that requires a different file. I've updated a Satellite A60 BIOS to 1.9 but am not sure if cela flashed the BIOS as well.

If this isn't the case, where I could get a file to Flash BIOS for satellite A60-106?

    Hello

Sorry, but you question is a bit confusing.
The update of the BIOS flashing the ROM module I put t know which version is installed before upgrading the BIOS, but if after the upgrade, a new version of the BIOS appears then the procedure was a success.

The good BIOS and how to upgrade the BIOS information you will find on the page of Toshiba.

  • Satellite L840 - update of the BIOS and the blue screen

    Hello

    I recently bought a Toshiba L840-04f (PSK8LA - O4E007) and installed Windows 7 64-bit.

    Problem: BlueScreen

Question: I guess it's the dreaded "blue screen of death' and I need to do something to prevent servious problems in the future (I used the laptop slightly for a few days with no problems).

How to analyze the dump of information to find out what caused the blue screen?

Or is it better to make it back in the last restore point before the blue screen event? A restore point was made until I updated the BIOS to v 1.80 to 6.20. In addition, Toshiba shows that there is a new version of BIOS 6.30.

Before the blue screen event I had changed the setting of the 'close' button on/off and made some other minor changes to settings and then I connected a Seagate external hard drive just before the Blue error screen.

Y at - it suggestions on what steps should I take?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

The BSOD appears usually due to software problem or hardware problem.
You said that you have connected an external USB HDD to the computer just before the BSOD appeared so likely the BSOD was caused by the attached HARD disk who knows

If that happened for the first time, don't be afraid, maybe it's just a time issue
But if he appears often, you should study some more and must try to reproduce the problem and the reason

  • Someone at - he heard of this? Text of boot and BIOS is distorted. Random characters in the BIOS and the splash screen are off by 2 in alphabetical order.

After a recent accident, my screen is distorted during boot and in the BIOS. Random Charactersa are replaced by a different letter, that is, the periods are replaced with commas, 'Windows' may appear as 'Walker', 'restarted' as 'Reqtarted' and 'Network' as 'Letuoriini '.

It seems that the characters are disabled by two in alphabetical order, appearing as A, D, appearing as a B C.
At first, I thought that it was a mistake to video card, so I updated the driver. I ran three separate programs of the antivirus (AVG, MBAM and Hitman Pro). Nothing came.
Any advice? I can't post specifications of material right now, as I write via the phone, but will provide later tonight.

After much trial and error, it turned out that my graphics card was at fault.

The original accident occurred during the loading of Arkham City, which has always been a little bit of lag on my system. As he had been executed more slowly than normal, I installed a driver updated for it. No improvement, except when it is trying to run anything that has used its installed engines, (PhysX, DirectX, or any more complex than the Minesweeper game) or the card system would be plant or generate error messages.
So I ran several antivirus programs, nothing unusual came. Biting the bullet, I formatted the drive and reinstalled Windows XP.  The computer works, but need several resettlement programs. During the restoration, the distorted letters are returned to the starting, development not being able to get in Mode safe without extreme distortion after the start.
Until the moment where it loaded with a mobile slider on noise static/white/random color.
I had almost given up hope until it appeared. Since the PC started normally, it wouldn't BIOS or any other material.
My secondary fan came unplugged, and the fan on the graphics card had stopped working. After switching to the card mother VGA, distortion had disappeared.
    Final diagnosis: overheated graphics card.

    Hello

I suggest you to contact the manufacturer of the motherboard for help on how to reset the bios.

Note: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    Thanks and regards.

you use a computer HP Acer OEM SLP key. It would never work.

so, your bios date 22/04/2009 is before that windows 7 does not have a bios compatible win 7. your computer came with Vista.
you will need to buy a genuine windows or go back to the windows with that your computer shipped.
OEM SLP: This key comes pre-installed in Windows, when it comes to the factory. This key is designed to work with the special instructions isn't on the hardware of this manufacturer. Then, when Windows was installed using the OEM SLP (in factory) Windows 7 key leans on the motherboard and he sees special instructions and activates.
  • Satellite L30-134 PSL33 - Question about the version of the BIOS and the type of DVD writer

    Hello!

I bought a Toshiba L30-134 PSL33 the week last in Hungary. I recorded to Toshiba international warranty, so I saw that my cell was made the 19.10.2006.
My friend bought the same laptop (Toshiba L30-134 PSL33) too (also in Hungary), two weeks ago. His machine was made on 19.12.2006.
It's already funny, but that's not all.
My laptop has a series number starts with X, and the machine of my friends has this starting with Z. That's ok.
    But here it is...
I have a BIOS version of 1.3 and my friend has a BIOS version of 1.9! 0.6 gap within two months? Why?
The other thing. I have a DVD burner called Mat * a UJ - 841 S and my friend has a LG 4082. Once again: why?
If you are looking for Toshiba BIOS update you don't find anything! It is very interesting. There must be some updates to the BIOS, because I read here to another topis that someone has a BIOS version of 1.4. But there are 1.9 too.
Each book was brand new when we bought.
    Any idea?
Let me know when you bought your laptop, what BIOS version it has, and what kind of DVD player there.
I'm wainting for the answers, because I'm really interested!

    Thank you
    Marcell

    Hey Arnaud!

I m from Hungary, too, but I think I should speak English on this forum :) So here is my notebook, I ve bought on 24.12.06. :

    Type: L30 - 134 PSL33E
The machine was made on: 19.12.06
    Series: starts with Z
    DVD player: LG
    BIOS version: 1.9

You should t be nervous on the drive, the carpet * a Panasonic, and I think that s as good as LG. Why are they different? I put t know, maybe Toshiba was such at the time. In the specifications I didn't seen anything on the drive type, so I think that s not relevant. I t has not found another version of BIOS for this model, so I t understand too why and what are the differences between the versions. But if you n t have a problem with your machine, you do not need to change the BIOS. This isn't a PC, if you haven t many options to change in the BIOS.
If you want to discuss on the laptop on the Hungarian language, I recommend the Toshiba section on www.prohardver.hu.

    Best regards
    Abel

  • HP 15-ac108na: how to enter the BIOS and the RECOVERY of the screens, please?

    Hello

Can anyone help? I need to know the keys to press to enter the bios and recovery screens. If I missed anything like splash screen, then I need to know this as well.

Buy laptop just left Saturday. Quite happy with it really.

    Hello

Shut down the laptop - like you are on Windows 10, do this by holding down the key SHIFT left click Shutdown to temporarily prevent a boot hybrid.

Click next to the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to access the Start Menu.

From there, you can access by pressing f11 recovery options or the menu of the Bios by pressing f10.

  • BIOS and CPU upgrade

I have a HP Pavilion P7-1222. It has a processor of Pentium G630. I consider that the upgrade to a processor I5-2400 s. My motherboard will accept this. The TDP of these two processors is 65W. My question is my bios will support this processor? My bios is FRIEND 7.19 - 02/04/2012.

I understand that you want to know whether the P7-1222 BIOS will support the I5-2400 s.

According to the specifications of the motherboard for sale listed by HP found here, the system will accept this processor.  Because the BIOS is on the motherboard, it must support for the motherboard to support.  However, I do not recommend updated BIOS for good measure, before any upgrade of the processor.
