XPS M1530 customization - what is a 'Slot Load Blu - ray Disc (BD/DVD/CD read/write) "?

Hi all! I'm looking to customize my laptop so that it can play Blu - Ray movies. Is "Slot Load Blu - Ray Disc" the thing I'm looking for?

Hello

You want to buy a disc "Blu - Ray".

You must make sure that you choose that has included software for watching Blu - Ray movies. 'Slot Load' means a player who is not a tray that pops out like a CD or regular DVD player don't. You just have to push the disc into the "slot". I saw some problems with the discs of "crack" and suggest a regular reader of plateau.

    Hi rookie128,

Dell engineering team have not been defined any known problem with burning discs, or other problems with the Dell XPS 8500 System. Ideally, all Blu - ray discs that can fit into the Blu - ray player can be used.

  • Ports SATA 8700 XPS 2/3/4 not seeing not added Blu - Ray burners

I bought an XPS-8700 (16 GB of RAM / HD 2 TB) at Costco online and received on Friday.

Until it happens, I had ordered three items for this:

    Plextor PX-256M5M mSATA SSD

LG WH14NS40 Blu - Ray burner

    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (not a fan o0f Windows 8)

I installed the SSD drive and it works fine.

I then installed the LG Blu - Ray into the slot ODD1 engraver and connected the cable to the SATA 2 port. After starting the system, I was a little surprised to not see Adding Blu - Ray burner.

I tried then reverse SATA cables will ODD0 and ODD1. Now, the LG Blu - Ray burner is there, but not the DVD recorder provided. I reversed the wires without modification in present readers think that the new SATA cable could be bad.

Then I tried to connect the added drive SATA 4 and SATA 3 with no luck.

From what I can tell, the new burner LG Blu - Ray and SATA cable are both fine in their work when it is connected to the SATA 1.

The DVD/CD burner, nor added Blu - Ray burners work on SATA 2 ports, 3 or 4.

I guess (and we all where that leads) that the second optical drive is supported as the two upper bays are labeled ODD0 and ODD1.

Any ideas as to what is needed to get the XPS-8700 to recognize a CURIOUS on 2-4 SATA ports?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ed

Even though I know that this Post goes back to August 2012, today's date is January 20, 2014... I thought that I would say because I have to bought a XPS8700 and he received just 3 days ago.

After installing a 2nd HDD internal who were executed in my Dell XPS420 (OS Win7)... when I first started my XPS8700 running Windows8... Windows has not seen the 2nd internal HARD drive.  I could see the 2nd HDD wooden (like this poster)... but not in Windows.  He did not appear in the 'Computer', the Manager of devices or disk management.

Read this Posters comment, I really thought I had a XPS8700 with a bad motherboard since the poster wrote the 2nd XPS8700, he got... its added reader has been detected by Windows... However, in my case... it was not the result.

I contacted Dell and arrangements were made to have a technology specialist call me.  I explained what I did to include moving the DVD installed Dell, which has been seen by Win8... from motherboard Port 1 to Port 2 (where I had connected the 2 internal)... and Windows does not see the DVD drive.  He confirmed that he would be the Port of the motherboard.  In settings Dell prior WOOD under Win7... you had to get into WOOD and turn on each SATA motherboard and OFF connections... I could not find in the WOOD of XPS8700.

The final document; the Dell specialist had me go back into the WOODS... had me click each tab in the WOODS... it was obvious that he was looking for a framework he hoped that should correct the problem.  Tab START of WOODS, he had me stressed "Secure Boot"... which was displayed as ACTIVE, click ENTER and change for disabled in the Popup window, use exit F10 WOOD and SAVE the settings.

XPS8700 seemed to take a long time to start for Win8... it just seemed slow, I thought that now things are really foires... I can't even start to Win8.  But when she took what seemed like forever, nothing better than just watching a blank screen, when it finally starts screen Win8 tiles and I opened the 2nd HHD 'Computer', I installed was displayed and I managed to get it... write to her...

From what I have studied the COURSE wood is set to "ENABLED"... and it blocks Ports to the motherboard, so that if another device is connected that has an operating system installed the PC will not see it.  If this is true, why wouldn't not Dell communicate this?  Better yet, how many users would connect another device with a BONE... why not the XPS8700 of ship with the SECURITY setting set to DISBALED?  How many people encounter this same problem said their mother was bad... and Dell paid to replace them, worse still, returned their XPS8700...?

I will add, it took a few reboots after that setting has been changed to DISABLED before my XPS8700 started upward and as quickly as he did before the change in closing...

A mere 3 second difficulty... to a very complicated problem... Hope this helps the other faced with this question

  • Y580 - what is the difference between 'Blu-ray/DVD Combo' and 'Blu-ray/DVD-RW?

Can writer "Blu-ray/DVD Combo", I want to say burn on nine DVD disc?

The two discs are identical, they can read and write CDs and DVDs and to read (but not write) Blu - ray. They are written differently because Lenovo doing weird things like that. For example, in configurations of Y480 they are all listed as having "Bluetooth 4.0" except one which is just listed as having "Bluetooth." Sometimes, when they add new configurations to the page, they will write some of the specifications without checking existing configurations to ensure uniformity in the way they write the terminology. Include DVD double or double layer dvd too

    Hi DiAcosta,

It can move the player to a Blu - ray, one player and it will not void the warranty. Drive Blu - ray alone will not guarantee, but the other parties will continue to have the Dell warranty.

  • MY blue-ray DVD player is note working what to do?

My blue-ray on my HP laptop drive was working about three weeks ago now it not what to do?

    Hello

If you use HP MediaSmart DVD to play Blu ray discs, try the following.

HP now provides a version of PowerDVD 10 Cyberlinks which seems to be a more reliable solution and quality.  Download the installer for it on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp53001-53500/sp53029.exe

When the download is complete, open windows panneau Panel configuration, open programs and features, right click the entry for HP MediaSmart DVD and select uninstall - once this process is complete, restart the laptop.

When windows has completely recharged, open your download folder, double-click the installer for PowerDVD 10 start the installation.  Once this done, see if your Blu ray now playing the discs OK.

    Kind regards

  • slot loading disk problem blueberry G3 iMac

I have a Blueberry iMac with a slot loading CD player which no longer works. The CD player does not work; the iMac is done. t have not used in a long time, recently hung.

A few months back, I bought a new MacBook and an external CD/DVD drive from Apple - a Superdrive drive. Since loading on the old iMac slot does not work I thought I could use the external hard drive with it, but instead to aspire the CD and play it, he refuses to accept it.

Is there something simple I can do to make it work?

Probably, the external optical drive does not work because the old iMac only has USB 1.1 ports, which are really slow and cannot have enough power to modern USB devices.  In addition, if the reason for which you need the optical drive is to boot from a Mac OS installation disc, it would be a problem with a Mac PowerPC.  Macs PowerPC usually doesn't start the USB, and although they may start up in FireWire.

What is the question?  What you're trying to do with the iMac?

  • Keyboard output incorrect characters after the re-installation of Windows Vista on Dell XPS M1530

Original title: some of the keys on the keyboard messed up after re-installation of Windows Vista on Dell XPS M1530

    Hey guys,.

I have recently reinstalled windows because last year I picked up a few errors that I couldn't fix it easily and I wanted a clean slate.

I have install all the drivers etc, but I noticed on my keyboard, if I try and make a "sign it comes up with a sign @ and vice versa." There are also others like that, so I guess that my keyboard readers need to update? Although I have no idea why they would need updating as they were before.

Anyway, I went here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=XPS_M1530&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid= and I tried to find the driver I need, but could not find them.

So, overall, my question is should I update the drivers? If so, how?

And if not, how can I fix?

    Thank you. :)

    Hi cripple.

    Thank you for your message.

Was is happening until you have reinstalled Windows?

How do you reinstall Vista, what steps did you take?

    What is a wireless keyboard?

If this is the case, check the batteries and make sure that the keyboard is very close to the receiver (a few inches) to see if the problem resolves.

I suggest updating your anti-virus definitions and run a fun system scan.

You can connect another keyboard to your computer to see if it might be the fault of the keyboard?

  • Windows 8 on XPS M1530 touchpad gestures?

I installed Windows 8 on my XPS M1530. Everything is good, but the gestures of scanning of Windows 8 will not work on the touchpad. I installed the driver for the Alps touchpad that worked on windows 7, but the special windows 8 gestures still do not work. If someone managed to get this working or have any ideas of what I could try? Thanks, Paul

    OK, here go us:

    1. download the drivers from the link and unzip them somewhere.

    2. run the DPInst.exe or right click on the Apfiltr.inf, then choose install.

    3 reset

4 log back, press Win + X and select Device Manager.

    5. under the mouse and pointing devices, you should see the Alps pointing device.

    6. Press Win + X and select Control Panel, then mouse.

    7. you should see the standard mouse pointer options over the Alps additional ones such as edge Action etc.

    8. If you do, set the mouse away and test actions.

    9. If like me you do not have these additional tabs on the properties page of the mouse, then you must use a control panel extra such as the DellTouchpad.exe of the official package Dell Windows 8 Touchpad or from another package Alps.

First try the steps 1 to 8 and see if the options are there under the properties of normal mice.

The DellTouchpad.exe is located in the driver package http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails/Product/vostro-3360?driverId=1JW07&fileId=3080251554

Use the 32 bit or 64 bit depending on the case.

  • Transfer of tapes CD directly into Dell XPS M1530

I have several family tapes I want to transfer directly into my Dell M1530 xps.  I plugged one end of the cable into the headphone jack of the audio cassette player and the other end in making portable computer microphone.  In the Panel, I put the default line.  But I can't get any sound from the speakers.  I have the software loaded on your laptop to sound recording Audacity, but when I try to record from cassette player I get an error message to check my input device.  The cassette player earphone Jack works very well, and the audio cable is a brand-new cable Mediabridge, so I'm pretty confident that they are not the problem.  Can someone help me get these tapes loaded on my laptop? Thank you.

The company is Sigmatel bankruptcy before 7 came out, then you just use the version of Vista but install in 7 using the Vista compatibility mode. Download the audio driver and extract the files (unzip or decompress and take note of the name of the folder created) but cancel the installation process. Go to the folder on the hard disk to which you have unpacked the driver files. Find the setup.exe file and right-click on it. Select Properties. Find the Compatibility tab and select Vista.

    -OR-

Some owners of XPS m1530 succeeded with the IDT R226903 audio driver which is a version 7. If you want to try it, download and unzip the files in c:\Dell\drivers\R226903 but cancel installation. Then go in for the audio controller device manager (under "sound, video and game controllers"). Right-click on it and choose Update driver. Select to manually locate the driver and let Windows not seek. Find c:\Dell\drivers\R226903, and then click "next".

  • XPS m1530 - HDMI output fault. distorted picture or away message range of

I have a XPS m1530 laptop that has recently started having problems with its output via the HDMI port.

I suspect that the HDMI port has no for the following reasons:

    • Before working the State
    • peripheral output poster is "out of range" message or image is displayed in a few seconds but that is corrupted (bad resolution, color)
    • tried with different cables HDMI and poster
    • problem replicated on operating systems: Vista, Linux
    • Operating system correctly detects the display capabilities (resolution, name, etc.)

Although the LCD screen of the laptop works I often need to use the HDMI port.

Anyone know what parts need to be replaced to fix this?

Looks like a motherboard problem - video, hdmi etc port Run diagnostic tests to test everything.

I just check that the model and it is 7 years old and should be replaced. Laptops are usually that long. The money spent to repair would be better put to a new computer.
