XPS One 2710 graphics card upgrade?

Is the graphics card on this evolutionary thing? Like can I put a GeForce GTX 670, 680 or even a 690? And what about the food? Is there one with more power to this AIO PC? I just got this computer, and now I'm a big gamer, but the 640 M is not just push what I want it. May everything would be fine, but I want to do so much more. If this can be improved?

Hey there... all that I have read and discussed with Dell and techie outside (like me) and all say the same thing... No, it's not easy to extend it is welded to the map (granted practice how are you with an iron soldering) the video card is not easily accessible and is located behind the motherboard (you must empty the Dell to access)... once find you it you will have to remove it with an iron solder and replace it... things to be VERY concerned with... One... you lose your warranty even if you extended it you lost if you make this uprising. 2. it is really complex and not for the faint at heart, we are talking here of welding the first chip and then on the motherboard. If you don't know what you're doing here, you can completely destroy your motherboard in 3 seconds. Your uplift can go as a GPU with the same energy consumption / requirements of frequency that the GPU M640 which, according to what you have in mind when you say "I would like to do much more," I don't think not that you will get a huge helping hand with all of the options available that are compatible. 4. heat dissipation might be a major problem, he is already running hot with a M640 at full power, it can certainly handle any more heat inside the chassis. 5. this machine was not built like a fucking toy game, his intention was to General House / use of Business with some lighter games thrown in as an advantage over other AIO.

So to answer the question directly - Yes, you can with (a lot of work), the loss of guarantee and possibly blow your system from the sky here to high if you make a mistake during the uprising

So the second question is - if you... well :-) how deep is your pocket book? Do you care about the warranty (it is expensive to play with toy) - personally... DON'T YOU SHOULDN'T TRY THIS AT HOME :-)

The ball is in your court here... strong points:

1. very complex

2 need a soldering iron and a lot of courage

3 having to find an another GPU that has similar power/frequency specifications to work (not a lot of options here)

4. power aside the XPS from what I can tell is not extendable (I'll look into this more deep)

5 heat will be a major problem (not a lot of room inside the chassis to change the mechanisms of existing cooling)

6. loss of warranty

I hope this helps.

I recently bought this graphics card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=5660536&sku=A271-5774

Also, I advanced and bought this power supply: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3276573

I own a HP Pavilion a6414 and this is my first video/graphics card upgrade.  I did a good bit of research and I know that I have the PCI E x 16 appropriate for the card slot and the power SUPPLY 650 Watt PSU to insert in the ATX case. I measure the UAP present btw.  I'm a little worried about the upgrade of the power supply, because I read somewhere (I think it's here on this forum) that some HP tech rep said a person who upgrade the power supply could not be performed on the a6414, but I don't see why not.

My other concern is about the speed of the processor to the graphics card and possibly voltage problems, but I think the power SUPPLY Ultra PSU will be fine.  Either that it is my first time to play with the graphics card and PSU, I'm looking for advice on the compatibility between these three components, i.e. the model, the card and the power supply.  Any input will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance...

I installed everything today and it works like a charm.  I had read so much about the HD 5770 not recognized by HPs and the test of the power supply, but everything worked so far.  I bought a LG LED 20 "monitor today as well, and everything looks great.  Thanks for all the advice guys...  The links you provided helped with Dave BIOS, thanks.

  • XPS One 2710 flickering of the screen

My XPS One 2710 has worked great for over a year. This week, it began to falter on exactly half of the screen on the right side. The Twinkle is quite violent and makes this unusable side. I have updated all drivers and made diagnoses who have shown no failures. My BIOS is A09. I think that it is suitable for a machine running Windows 7. Any ideas?

Thanks for posting.  A friend asked me to take a look at its XPS 2710, and it was indeed the problem.  The symptoms were exactly as described in the previous posts.  I took off the lid in plastic and metal and blew out an industrial fan at the rear of the machine to test.  The machine is stable for two hours, which was much longer while it lasted usually.  Satisfied with my tests, I got creative with my Dremel:

Using a model of fan 140mm, a spare R2 from fractal, a 140mm fan Grill and fan 3 pin USB converter I cut a hole in the lid plastic and mounted equipment (the Converter 3 pin is necessary because playing with the CPU and GPU fan headers will cause the BIOS to start a fan speed error).  Then I reassembled the entire thing without the metal under protection.  Three hours of DURATION and no problem.  Before spazzing would begin after about 20 minutes.  $30 in parts to repair a $2,000 machine.  Not bad.  Thank you once again, everybody who posted!

  • Dell XPS One 2710 Fresh install

I want to do a new install of the operating system with a new SSD, I intend to buy my 3 years old Dell XPS One 2710. It is my understanding that the Windows operating system authorization key is integrated into the motherboard. I think it is in the BIOS from what I've read.

My question is if I install a new hard drive and do a clean from scratch the Windows OS authorization key install will still be valid and knit?  Moreover, would this work if I tried to do a clean install of Windows 10? Thank you!

Throw the DVD in the trash if its for Windows 8.0 which is end of life. A DVD can be refused by SecureBoot. Also the Windows 8.0 installation and then allowing Windows Update for Windows 8.1 will lead to catastrophic performance.

Its really simple to do theres just a bunch of information about the editions at the beginning... which often get confused. It seems that you are sure that your edition 8.1 Windows (Home) is however. Take a look at the associated tutorial video too:

    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=Is6I9B9kjFM&list=PL1RkaknDn7v9wEeh0YXFqOFsrmws-9fYn&index=1

This video tutorial is more direct because it focused only on Windows 8.x OEM with a UEFI BIOS licenses that apply to your system. It omits all details on retail licenses and hardware legacy. Note the .isos used in the tutorial video are Windows 8.1 with Update 2 and not Windows 8.1 with update 1 as shown.

  • Windows 7 x 64 installation DVD does not start on a Dell XPS One 2710

I apologize in advance for the long post...

Just got a Dell XPS One 2710.  Lot has happened, but let me clarify the current number as briefly as possible: the machine does not start from the HARD internal disk or the Windows 7 Installer x 64 DVD.  He gets through loading files and then gray progress bar when its colorful animation it blue screens with error CACHE_MANAGER.

I ran the diagnostic, including tests extended memory tests, and they have not found any error in what either.

When I was troubleshooting this problem previously, in some sort the motherboard got bricks (I don't know what exactly I did to cause that), but Dell has since replaced.  The first motherboard had BIOS version A09.  It has installed A11.

I can't find any BIOS settings combination that will allow even the Installer Windows DVD to start with the Blue error screen CACHE_MANAGER.  I tried the UEFI boot modes and legacy, I tried RAID and AHCI.  I tried with and without loading legacy OPROMs.

What I ultimately do is set the start mode of RAID so that I can use the SSD mSATA as a cache ("Accelerate" in the Intel RST Panel).  But I can not even the installer to start on where I can load drivers RST (assuming it's even necessary).

Other posts have suggested problems with memory, but I took each of the two DIMMS one at a time and I always had the same problem.

Should I suspect the hard drive?  When we arrived at the machine, he seemed to be running Windows 8 very well - until we went on the way to the side dark and downgraded to Windows 7.  Then once we started to have errors on updates, things has quickly degenerated from there.  In addition, again, diagnoses don't find any problems.

Any suggestions on how to get at least this puppy to start?   .. .or what have we done wrong?

Thanks EJN.  It turns out that there is certainly a hardware problem on this machine.  It was a refurbished Dell making machine and apparently when they renovated the it, they missed the real problem.

The way I know that it is material, it's that we bought actually 2 of them at the same time.  When I started to suspect the material, I decided to try this process on the other.  He worked like a knife through hot butter.  But I will say that the combination of the BIOS set to boot legacy mode and still start the installation with the option to UEFI DVD in the start menu was not easy to understand at first.  But when I followed the correct steps, everything worked very well.

For those of you who might try this, here are a few things I learned along the way:

    1. According to EJN, take the time to get/burn a CD to install Windows 7 x 64 that already has SP1 on it.  If you go to preserve the UEFI partitions and the boot hard disk, you must have x 64.  x 86 (32-bit) does not support UEFI.

2 unzip the RAID drivers to the * root * your USB flash or floppy drive and have it in the machine when you start the installation DVD.  I could be wrong, but it seemed to me that the installer looked for them without having to explicitly say it loads the me.

    3. as said EJN, set your BIOS boot legacy mode but use F12 at startup to bring up the Windows Boot Manager and start the installation in UEFI boot mode DVD.  If you want to implement an SSD as cache for your hard disk, you will need to set the SATA controller in RAID mode.

    4. I had partitions UEFI and was able to leave them intact.  Here's a very brief explanation: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744301%28v=ws.10%29.aspx your results may vary.

5 take this one as a possible suggestion that is worth what you pay for it: when I got the USB with RAID drivers at the root before starting the installation DVD, I didn't need to load the drivers explicitly.  As I said, it seems that the installation program has been smart enough to find and load what it takes, but honestly, I don't know.  When I load them explicitly, I got errors saying that the installer could not install on the partition, I had chosen.  Makes me think that I could have loaded both times.  What worked for me was NOT explicitly their cargo.

    6. you MUST be at your PC when Setup has completed copy and unpack the installation files.  Don't forget that you have your BIOS set to start legacy mode.  So when he tries to restart to complete the installation, it will try to start using the table inherited from on your hard disk - who is not here because you did a UEFI installation with partitions for UEFI.  So when Setup restarts the first time, you might as well get into the BIOS here and choose the UEFI boot mode.  If you do not, you will need to grab it whenever it restarts using F12 and manually tell it to boot from your hard drive using the UEFI.

These steps, you should get installed and running.  But another thing I had to understand that when first, I installed and executed the dashboad Intel RST, there is no acceleration option even if my mSATA SSD was found healthy.  I found that if it is formatted and partitioned, you actually go into Disk Manager and delete the partition before the RST dashboard he sees as available for use as a cache.

I hope this helps others out of me.  It's a heck of a lot easier when the hardware is not bad!

  • Dell XPS One 2710 - SSD drive?

    Hello.

I look forward to the new 27 '' AIO Dell XPS One 2710 with the 3rd Gen i7.  However, I note that there doesn't seem to be an SSD option in the settings.  Is it possible to have one included in the machine for OS and apps, etc.?

  • Dell XPS One 2710 does not start - should I all reasonable options?

A few weeks ago, my 18 - month, Dell XPS One 2710 has started to act up.  Still not start correctly.

Ran the Dell diagnostics on their Web site.  Everything was fine - no detected hardware problem.

Yesterday, the computer completely stopped working.  It would be start, after a sweep of drive long, finally on the desktop, but can hang after 10 minutes.  I'm on Windows 8 (not 8.1).

Today, I thought I would do a system restore to a point a month ago.   But today I can not get a startup complete, impossible to get on the desktop.  Therefore, can't do a system restore.  Instead, I see this screen.

I have the options to continue?   I don't have a recovery disk.

You can install 8.1 on top of what you have by a 16 GB or more usb flash drive as a bootable recovery media.

If it does not recognize the key to your Bios, you can use a generic key for install but not activate.

All the pre installed 8.x are 64-bit so make sure you download the correct version.

  • The Studio XPS 435MT graphics card upgrade

    Hi all

I have a Dell Studio XPS 435mt with these specs:

    Intel Core I7 2.67 ghz

    6 GB of RAM

ATI Radeon HD 4570 512 MB graphics card (it's the original one)

I got nothing so far, but now I want to change the graphics card because I want to play games that require higher performance, I play with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 (1080 p).

So what do you suggest me? What is the best graphics card can I take, compatible with the studio 435mt?

I don't want to change the other components (and I mean the PSU in particular) I don't want to change the graphics card.

So what is the graphics card that pushes the limit of this computer?

    I have another question.

I bought this computer in Italy and it's because I'm Italian xD.

Now I'm in Boston for the summer holidays and I would buy the card here. There is a compatibility problem between Italian and American computers?

I mean the GPU are all the same despite the country or there are a few differences to take into account?

I'm sorry if I am repetitive, but I don't know if my questions are clear and understandable.

    Thanks for your help!

    I have no budget.

True, but even once, why would you spend $129 when the same one that costs only $89 HERE at Newegg.  Personally, I wouldn't put a high end as the HD 6970 card in your system, but it is up to you.  For me, just is not there, but I know that others have fact.   Cards more recent performance today they run cooler and are smaller than the last generation.  I know there are people who have put in the hot and power hungry GTX 295 in this system.  If you want a high end card without going overboard, take a look at the HD 6850 and HD 6870.  However, if you have money, you can do whatever you want if you use an i7 processor to go with it.  I'm just a little at low cost.

    Hello

Reading of the plug to the GeForce GTX760 and your HP system you just would make with the power supply. The GTX needs 500 Watt power supply.  Your HP ENVY has 600 watts power.

I like a little more power myself, but I think that with your system, it is not. If the system is odd as power supply USB comes off.  Buy a strong power supply. Windows tends to drop or cut power to USB systems if it requires more power. The system is designed to use high-end graphics cards.  The thing I can't see is the space you have available for the graphics card. The GTX is 9.5 inches Long, so I have to measure the space you have in the back of case you forward where is sat.

    JoBla, welcome to the forum.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to ensure that the latest components will work in an old computer.  Your computer is almost 3 years old.  My suggestion is to choose the SSD and the video card you want to buy and contact the Technical Support of the manufacturer to determine if it will work with your computer.  They are the experts on their products.  This will save you the possibility to pay for the return of one of them.  That's what I did and it works fine.

I can recommend a PSU 600W (PSU), however.  I love Corsair products.  Here is a very good power supply.  Read the reviews to see what users have to say about it.  There is a modular version of it, too.  The modular power supply is good for medium-sized cases.  It allows you to use only the cables that are absolutely necessary.  Which makes for airflow and better cable management.

  • HP Pavilion p7-1030 graphic card upgrade help

OK, so I have a desktop HP Pavilion p7-1030, and the graphics card is crap, I need to update something much better.

I know that I'll probably need a new power supply too, if anyone knows a good combo?

Also, where can I find the old graphics card and POWER supply in order to remove and replace?

I'm playing BF3, so it must be good.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Zxcvbnm0, welcome to the forum.

According to the specifications of the computer, there is only the embedded video.  It is integrated in the motherboard, so you cannot remove it.  It will be automatically disabled when a discreet card is installed.  Integrated video is never good for video intensive games or other programs.

I like Corsair and OCZ PSU.  I recommend at least 500W.  This will give you more choices of video cards.  You must measure the current PSU and compare the measurements to the one you choose.  Normally, I buy my parts from Newegg.

Here is an example of a good food:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817139028

I like the graphics cards XFX, EVGA, Sapphire and PNY in that order.  I recommend you to stay at 9 "long or less.  This ensures that it will not go in the space provided.

Here is an example of a video card that should work:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16814150561

The PSU is where the power cord is connected.  If you do upgrades, it will help mark the wires of the PSU to make sure that you connect them correctly.  The connectors of the motherboard must be labelled, and more, the wires on the new power supply.
