XW6000 cooling fan and CPU connector issues

XW6000 workstation, 2 x 3.06 Ghz Xeon processor, 4 GB RAM, Radeon X 1600 512 MB AGP, OS Windows 7 video card.

Hello, all,.

I have a strange problem with this otherwise excellent camera. A couple of weeks, he has begun to close randomly and would usually start at the next attempt. I suspect the graphics card and replaced him as fans, cleaning the CPU fins cooling and re - apply CPU thermal paste. The computer was fine for a day or two and then become erratic, with the same symptoms as before. Then he refused to boot at all - the screen remains black, all the cooling fans would be out for a second, then rest static. I didn't hear any beep codes but the HD light was lit in green.

The PSU was then replaced by no effect. I went through the usual process of reinstalling components failure, removal/replacement RAM & other devices in order to see if they were the problem with no improvement. In all cases, the HD light would turn green for a second or two, the PSU/CPU fans would be like before kick and then the red light HD flash intervals of one second.

Finally I found the PSU and CPU fans would turn at maximum speed, when I disconnected the CPU power connector six pins. But of course the computer then wouldn't start. The left light shone right green and red.

The computer is now completely disassembled and I can't find anything obviously wrong (fade/broken) on the motherboard. Clearly, something is being short circuit when the power of the CPU is connected.

Is a new motherboard required or is there anything else I can try?

Thanks in advance,

esseff.

It was the motherboard (again)!

I just set up the replacement for the replacement and everything works fine now. No problem with the revalidation of phone despite the change of the major component. Hope this helps someone with the same symptoms.

Thanks to everyone for their help.

    Hello..

I just thought I'd post what I was looking for an answer why my cooling fan suddenly engage kicking in every 30secs or if. My machine is new, so I knew it wasn't dust on the fan, but it was really boring after being so quiet when first bought. Anyway I had updated the memory of 2 x 256 MB 1 x 256 and 1 x 512 MB (Crucial) as a Christmas gift to myself.
I just thought that I would be back to original memory because the plastic cover was really hot and I was wondering if that was originally.
The problem has been resolved. Fan comes barely at all! If additional memory is to overheat the machine.
Hope that it will use on the Forum

    Hello Fred

It is always interesting to read about new experiences. But in your case you should not think that there is a problem with the memory upgrade. I'm sure that you have used two different modules. In other words, a new module was probably more quickly while the original and there reason for overheating.

In my opinion, you should use the module recommended by Toshiba and try it again. Compatible 512 MB module has PA3312U - 1 M 51 part number.

  • Tecra M5 turn off randomly, but fans and the l.e.d remain on

First of all Hello to all,
I m new on this forum, because until now I had no problem with my laptop,
I hope that someone will be able to help with my problem,

    I have a Tecra M5 (PTM51E0N903JEN)
He has recently developed a fault where there is a slight click then the screen turns white and the fans at full speed, the led at the front will also stay on,
I only really use it on the grid with the battery inside,
without the power of the adapter to the battery lasts only about 10/15 minutes max.
the first start of the day, it can last from 10 minutes to 3 or 4 hours without freezing as cela, but after that he did once he continues to do so whenever I try to reboot or sometimes 5/10 minutes after I start windows xp,

If I play any games or anything that uses a lot of video memory, it seems to crash more quickly.

    Specs are below:

    Windows xp pro sp3,
    3 GB of ram,
    NVIDIA QUADRO NVS110M
All the drivers etc up to date,
All windows updates to day to day,

Does anyone have an idea what could cause this problem?

I also disassembled the Tecra and cleaned the fan and the heat sink as at first I thought it may be a heat problem, but it happens even after I added a desk fan blowing directly into the ventilation openings on the underside of the laptop.

The only other thing I thought that maybe the cause was the very old battery, but I've learned since you can actually use the Tecra without the battery in all with just the power supply.

I'm at loss, I hope someone can help.
    Thank you in advance,
    Bradley.

    Hello

Temperatures are ok and shouldn't t be the reason for this problem. But in my opinion, you should always clean the laptop with a jet of compressed air. This could blow the dust from the cooling fans and you don't have to disassemble the laptop. You can buy this spray of each computer store.

But it would be interesting to know the outcome of the Memtest86. Have you tried this test doesn't show an error with RAM?

  • Satellite L755-11j - cooling fan seems to have stopped working

    Hello

I have the model Satellite L755-11j and I'm really happy with it, strong, fast and reliable, I have only one problem: my cooling fan seems to have stopped working.

I don't know if it's a hardware or software (BIOS is set to dynamic switch, and in the power management is set to 'Active') delivers, because I come from Croatia, diagnostic PC is incredibly overpriced here and I can replace the fan on my own.

I want to just make sure I don't buy new cooling fan and my problem persists. Install speedfan and Toshiba PC health monitor only confirmed what I suspected, my laptop gets hot.

I bought the external cooling fan to help keep the temperature of my laptop down, but with the coming of the summer that I really want to solve this problem.

To be honest, it is not easy to help you with this. Is that cooling fan works automatically and there is not a special option where you can control. Only thing you can change is the cooling method option that you can find in the advanced power options > Toshiba power saver.

Check it please what option is set to on. Of course on this virtual path, it is not easy to tell if the cooling fan is defective or not.
It works or not? Can you notice hot air flow when you put your hand on the cooling grill placed on the left side of your laptop?

  • Satellite M70 - cooling fan does not start

    Hello.

I recently got a little work Satellite M70 - CL1 to a friend. Everything works, but the cooling system is malfunctioning. Fan made ramp-up at the start, but then it does nothing. I tried the XP system installed inside, and ubuntu 10.10 does not seem that the fan is running. My friend said the fan strikes, but at the moment he does, too little too late and the system freezes due to overheating. He managed to stay alive for 20 minutes on his own cooling power.

Any suggestions on what's wrong? Maybe it's the temperature probe that is defective?

    Hey,.

Of course, it's not always easy to tell what the exact reason is on this virtual path but probably dust blocks the cooling fans and so it may start t and the laptop is overheating.

Clean the fan and the heat sink is not very complicated, because you can use the jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. Everything is described in this very useful Toshiba article on cleaning of your laptop:

  • Cooling fan does not work - how to remove Satellite L850

How you delete a L850 Satellite in order to get to the cooling fan and replace it. The cooling fan has become noisy and then stopped working, and now the laptop is turned off as it is too hot.

It is out of warranty now as well.

    Hello

Replacement of the cooling fan is a fairly complicated procedure. Any laptop has to be disassembled, and as you probably know, it must be done by authorized personnel only.

Is the disassembly laptop procedure must be specific to avoid damage. Many plastic parts have a small-scale plastic and if you n t know how to delete some part can be broken. Any dismantling procedure is described in maintenance manuals, but this document is not a public document and cannot be downloaded.

What to say at this point? You can try to disassemble your machine, but you do this at your own risk. If you n t have experience with what I think this isn't a good idea.

You know someone who can help you with this?

  • Model HP 625 cooling fan problem

    Hello

I would like to ask questions about my cooling fan of my model HP 625. A few days ago, I noticed that my PC starts to overheat too with "Everest" monitoring program. It indicates that graphics cards ATI Radeon HD 4500 1 GB (what is intigrated in the motherboard) gose up to 83 C and the PC stops. After that, I noticed the cooling fan dosen't work, it starts on max speed, only when it reached the critical level of heat and stops / no error messages appear. "Tried to look in the BIOS, set up for fans cooling options, but there is only one option Always turn on the fan when the use of current alternative" and nothing else. Tried to use the "Fan speed" program which allows to adjust the speed of the fan on a different pace, according to what she monitors and cools but cela did not. The program find the cooling fan and he sets up on the desired speed, but no effect, it starts only when it reaches the critical level. Everything is correctly connected to the motherboard.

    Hi menester.

It seems to be a hardware malfunction with your fan and heatsink to the system of the computer. However try to update BIOS for your NB to www.hp.com and keep the NB under observation for a few hours, also make sure that ports of breakdown of your NB is clean and the NB is placed on a hard flat surface and then check if the problem is solved or not. If this is not so for sure it's a hardware problem so contact HP Technical Support and get the repaired NB.

  • HP 700-414: what case fan coolers and CPU would fit into a 700 HP - 414

I installed a GTX 950 in my HP 700-414 played overwatch for maybe 3 or 4 hours max and my time cpu has reached 85 - 87 c and my gpu is between 80-85 C. So I was wondering if you guys know how I could find the size of the case fan and how many mounts for fans are available? Because I can't find anything on it I searched and searched. And do you think I could adapt a CPU cooler to spare in this case?

    Hello92, welcome to the forum.

The time of your video card do not seem to be too bad.  The absolute maximum for the GTX 950 is 95 C.  Ideally, you do not want to keep at least 10 to 15 C lower than that which is yours according to your figures.  Your time CPU however are much too hot for me.  When OC I am very cautious and want to see time about 50 C.

You may need to get a little inventive when it comes to add case fans.  It's always a balance.  You can actually get fans to work against the other.  In other words, a fan air may cause another do not work effectively.  Trial and error is the best way to go.  When the fans run correctly, you will see an increase in cooling.  In addition, it probably not places to mount fans.  This can be overcome by using velcro or other means.  There's not enough connectors, so you will need to use adapters.

After walking coolers are normally very large.  You will need to measure carefully to make sure that the cooler you choose to insert in the case.  I have recommended a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO to a member and it was too big.  Cooler Master makes some very good, but you must find one that will fit in your case.

  • Satellite A215-S4757 - battery life and the problem of cooling fan

    Hello everyone,

I would like to ask a few questions abou my system: first, the cooling fan works in my view too often: almost without interruption, with brakes for 2-3 seconds. Is this normal?

I have my laptop since last August and I think that it shouldn't be a dust problem, because it is too 'young' for this and I do not live in an apartment "dusty"...

In any case, I think that the problem of "almost allways running fan" appeared about 2 months after I bought the laptop. I installed 'Speedfan' and I see 'HD0' temperature increases of 30deg remarks immediately after I have start the laptop, on 39deg after 1 hour.

But the most curious is that so called "Core" temperature oscillates from the beginning between 45deg and 52deg! The fan starts each time the core temperature rises to 50deg and stops when the temperature reached 45deg. This behavior is normal?

Is the normal temperature of 45-50deg? I use my laptop for browsing the Internet, emails, etc., no complex 3d games!

The second thing is that the battery life is (and has been since the beginning) not spectacular: it lasts max. 1.5 hours with wireless use on, but normal laptop (don't play not DVDs or something like that). Is this normal? If so, is it because of the amd processor turion 64 x 2?

Please help me with some tips / advice.

P.S. I bought my Toshiba as I was travelling to the US (NY).

    Thank you much in advance.

    Conrad

    > I would like to ask a few questions about my system: first, the cooling fan works in my view too often: almost without interruption, with brakes for 2-3 seconds. Is this normal?

I m an owner of a Satellite A210. It s similar to the A215. The A210 is a European model and the A215 belongs to the series of cell phones in the United States.
I noticed the same thing on my A210, and I think that's a normal s behavior.

    > But the most curious is that so called "Core" temperature oscillates from the beginning between 45deg and 52deg! The fan starts each time the core temperature rises to 50deg and stops when the temperature reached 45deg. This behavior is normal?
The 40-60deg CPU temperature is not unusual.
The temperature could affect up to 70-80degrees by practicing a game. So Don t worry about the temperature.
Cooling modules are controlled by the BIOS. Fan table is stored in the BIOS and it contains information about the limits of temperature and the use of cooling.
If a certain level of temperature has been reached the cooling module begins to spin with a certain speed.

Now, I would like to say a few words on the life of portable batteries
Generally the duration of battery life depends on the use of portable computers.
While playing games or watching movies the battery a lot faster.

In any case, your laptop is equipped with high performance devices and AFAIK Vista was preinstalled on this series. The two factors (high performance CPU and GPU devices) + Vista OS need a lot of battery power. Vista needs of more resources for laptop like Win XP, and so portable computers equipped with Vista operating system run more short on battery such as laptops pre-installed with Win XP.

Finally and above all he must know that there are different models more strong the battery with high * value of my would help run the notebook longer using the power of the battery.

Hope I could clarify this issue.

    Good bye

  • Re: Tecra M11 sudennly freezes and the cooling fan starts to run

My Tecra M11 laptop is running Windows7 and with a broadband dongle Telstra wireless internet lights up and works normally for a period of time.

Sudennly it freezes completely and 5 seconds later the cooling fan starts to run until I power off using the power button.
    Clues?
    Thank you

You must understand that on this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here.
I can imagine that some background process starts and increase the use of the CPU at the critical level when the motherboard sensors register at higher temperature of the processor and cooling fan starts to run fast enough.

Try to check in the Task Manager, if something like that happen.

I put t know how you have configured your operating system and to applications that run in the background, but also to try to stop treatments that you don't need and change some settings.

  • Satellite A200 - stop the CPU cooling fan

    Hello

I got a Satellite A200-1CK and stop my CPU cooling fan. Not that my CPU is not getting enough cooling. But when I use my laptop to school for use for OS virtualization, it heats up, and the cooler will not turn.

The CPU cooler is broken or is it just a setting in the bios?

    Greetz,
    Dion

    Hello

You must understand that nobody does you any kind of diagnostic accuracy and if you want to have the correct answer, your laptop must be checked by a technician.

Please check the BIOS settings, but on my A200 I can t see anything that can help.
