  You can assign keyboard shortcuts to launch a program.

  You cannot assign a new function to the Windows key, natively in Windows 7 or Vista.

  You can't create hotkeys for pasting text into a form or document, natively in Windows 7 or Vista.

  Internet Explorer has a way to save the data from the forms (AutoComplete) if it is of no interest.

  For Peter Spier and Jongware, thank you very much for your help on this stubborn text block.  I never understand exactly what I was doing wrong, so I ended up remove and re-create and were more likely what to do.

  Anyway, my next newbie question is: what is the keyboard shortcut for a page break?  I see on the menu drop-down which is command - something (I'm on a Mac), but I do not recognize the icon in the menu of the second key.  Who's who?

  Some websites said it was Command-enter, but that has not worked.

  I'm guessing that you are on a Mac laptop where there is no dedicated enter key.

  It is in this case, control + Fn + return.

  FN + return gives you the Enter key (shown above to the back of the keyboard key).

  The keyboard shortcut only I can find it useful to insert a variable is CTRL-0. This color on the left side

  Oh, I've seen this before. Its a transitory problem. It happens intermittently, but it happens frequently semi for me. And I'm on the last large patched version of 10 FM.

  I'm trying to define keyboard shortcuts for Pro Tools. I am facing a problem, however. I want to put a shortcut for the menu item

  View-> view-> Inserts A-E Edit window

  in the keyboard preferences window, so I've created a shortcut to the App to «inserts A - E» The problem is that there are other elements of submenu in Pro Tools with the same name, for example

  View-> Mix window views-> Inserts A-E

  Track-> Bypass inserts-> Inserts A - E

  and it is the latter who eventually be triggered by the shortcut. In fact the shortcut appears in the three places during the navigation in the menus; but it only triggers the item "bypass".

  In the keyboard preferences pane, is it possible to specify which menu a submenu item resides in?

  I'm on El Capitan 10.11.2, ProTools 11.3.1.

  It is not possible that you are trying. Shortcuts can handle only a single menu command name. The command being the last point. Other menus of the parent are not considered.

  First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this and help. It is greatly appreciated.

  I'm working on a simple script where it exported an InDesign file to PDF, opening a record the dialog window for the user to select the location to save and give it a name.

  We have another system that generates the name for us because we just simply copy and paste into the window. This works well when there is a normal export using InDesign built way to do, but when I try and do it through the script, keyboard shortcuts do not seem to work.

  No idea why?

  Here is an example of the code in the loop...

  Your screenshot indicates that the dialog box has been with ScriptUI. If this is the case, then you have your explanation: ScriptUI windows do not like copy/cut/paste shortcuts. It has become better in the latest versions on Windows, but it's no good for you. Anyway, there is nothing you can do about it.

  If you are on Windows:

  Here is a possible workaround. Create a file called MyFunctions.js, copy the following code and place it in the folder of Acrobat JavaScripts:

  app.addMenuItem ({cName: "MyCropPages", cUser: "crop Pages (& X)," cParent: "Edit", "})

  ({cExec: "app.execMenuItem(\"CropPages\ ");" ', cEnable: ' event.rc = (event.target! = null) "});

  This will add a new menu item called "Crop Pages" in the edition menu of Acrobat and allow you to access using Alt + E, X.

  Keyboard shortcuts in the family Acrobat cannot be customized. Some shortcuts only work when "single-key accelerator" mode or an item already has the focus.

  I use InDesign Version 20141 on a Macbook Pro.  Operating system is OS X 10.10

  I like to use the Page Break option, located in the Type Menu.  When I enter the keyboard shortcut on my Macbook Pro laptop, it does not.  So I went to change the shortcut, but asked if I want to create a new set of shortcuts.  That sounds complicated to me and I wonder why the default shortcut does not work.   Is there something special about the use of a computer laptop mac that prevents the shortcut to work?

  On a MacBook Pro laptop (that I use as well), there is no dedicated enter key because there is no numeric keypad.

  Page Break (Type > Insert Break character) is command + Enter.

  You can do this on your keyboard by adding the SHIFT key. It would be the command + shift + enter.

  It is not difficult to set up your own set of shortcuts. Just give it a name, like "Patrick shortcuts" and choose it instead of the game by default, which cannot be changed.
