Yellow shield in the taskbar won't go away

I had a similar problem to that which has been reported in several other questions, where windows updates KB2572073 and KB2518864 moved successfully and then I would be invited to install again and again and again. I followed the suggestion of a couple of these other issues and uninstalled as well software .NET Framework as possible, then went through the process to install the latest updates for the .NET Framework to more recent levels.

I was always being asked to install KB2572073 and KB2518864 over and over again, so I downloaded the individual updates on the Microsoft web site and I installed them manually. Still once, they succeeded, but now I get the yellow shield in the taskbar icon, which suggests that the updates are available to be installed. But this time, when I try with the button right or left - click on this icon, it simply disappears and then comes back in 15-20 seconds. Click again and it goes for 15-20 seconds and back again.

Is there a way to get the yellow shield icon go away in this case? I know there is no other update to install because I can go to the Windows Update web site and select "Custom" and it tells me there are 0 packets. I just need to get rid of the yellow shield icon and bring her back only ago legitimately updates to install on my system.

I have a yellow shield appear in my sandbox.  When I click it, it says "Windows found 1 update.  This update requires that you accept first the terms of the license. "This is the first time I see this, because my updates are usually automatically installed.  Is this a virus any?  If so, how can I get rid of this shield?

Can't blame you for being hesitant.

Suggest manually, you go to the update site and see what's available for your system. Which should give a clue as to what is pending installation, or in the alternative, see windowsupdate.log.

How to view the log of update Windows: -.

Click Start and then click Run.
In the Open box, type: %windir%\windowsupdate.log
    and then click OK.

Scroll down for the latest entries.

Still in doubt, perhaps one of the experts here could focus on this issue to determine if it is in fact an update legitimate windows or something else.

I just went to the update page, and it is said that there are no new updates needed. Strange... I would have thought there were security fixes since the end of January.

I did mine on February 17, but yes, it's the last that I have now. This months updates should be available today (March 13). I'm waiting for my small yellow shield to wait another day before telling me that they are ready. Even so, I wait a day or 3 and analyze the news to see if something catastrophic is reported in tech reviews online before I install them.

My Wifi works fine with access point and connected, but the problem is in the bottom right of the network notification task bar it's to show that it is not connected with asterisk yellow (as a standard asterisk should show that when Wifi is not connected).

  • Taskbar "won't go away" during Remote Desktop sessions more

Hello.  A few weeks ago, I noticed my taskbar is more 'disappear' when I connect a desktop session remotely.  It's my phone, I always used to log in my work computer at home.  When I do that and going full-screen remote desktop, my taskbar to the laptop would be hiding and this would be my taskbar to work down as if I was sitting at my desk, normal work normally as I always knew, even when I used to use XP.

A few weeks ago, I ran updates system and when I did, this behavior started (or stopped, depending on how you look at it).  I don't want to go through the pain of having to turn autohide on and off whenever I use my laptop to connect my system of work.

Is there some sort of option maybe turned it while updating that I'm missing that would cause this happening now, and more importantly, that I come back to it back.

    Thanks in advance.

    I just fixed it.

I don't know if there was an update that conflict, but I had to go to the properties of the remote desktop, make sure that it is set to "open like a normal window", click the Advanced tab and then select it to always run as an administrator.  That fixed it.

    Hi ZulfikarEsmail,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

2 when was the last time it was working fine?

    3. does come with attachments that you open from outlook express?

    4. have you tried to close the attachment after the consultation?

    5. do you have security software installed on the computer?

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

This could be a normal behavior if all of these programs require administrator privileges to run.

Try to double click these shortcuts to see if you get the user account control window.

  • Firefox does not appear (it will be 'open', although it seems that it is open in the taskbar)

I don't know if it's a coincidence that he himself has updated to 37.0, but it must be...

When I click the task bar on Firefox and on the desktop icon, it opens on the taskbar, when I select the taskbar it shows even Firefox loaded Google (my default Web page)... But it never occurred to the screen.

    I have:
-Windows 8.0 (No 8.1 and I'm not on the upgrade because it works better than 8.1)
    -Noscript add-on/plugin, or more
    -the drivers up to date

    I tried:
-Uninstall and reinstall the version the most recent (37.0)
-Uninstall 37.0 and installation of Firefox Web site archive 36.0
    -Restart my computer after install
    -Disabling service maintenance on installation

I "allow" - ed the windows popup install twice and it does not help.
The first time, it tries to open, she went to the yellow background on the taskbar to open programs, you have not yet used.
However, when I click on it nothing comes on the screen. When I select always watch here my homepage. I can't do the thing in firefox update because I can't even display. I don't get the error messages on my computer, which is weirder. I updated and ran windows defender full scan and found nothing (but it is not surprising to "defender", lol).

Once he opens the first time, even open another page opens nothing. Then it crashes and does close, even if you right click and you try to close all the windows... I have to use the Task Manager to close at the end of task...

I don't know how to open the 'xpi' convenience store thing, sorry...

And no whining, but why is - it so suddenly broken XD... And more important still, how in the world I can't come back to work? I use this terrible chrome I got lucky to have right on my computer already, which I only got to see one thing a long time ago and I forgot I even had Chrome... And as much as I hate to use chrome, it is actually works perfectly for me now... Thank you for any help will be much appreciated...

The Firefox window is sometimes "off screen" somehow. Often, you can force it to appear on the screen by right clicking on the thumbnail image just above the taskbar and choose expand. Does it work?

A possible cause for this is that the file that stores the positions and sizes of window is corrupt.

#1 method: If you can get a zoomed window:

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and output, either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old as well.

Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?

#2 method: If you can not get a Firefox window for all:

Close Firefox by right clicking the icon in the taskbar > close all windows.

Using the Run dialog box (windows key + R) or search from the start menu (bar (or, in Windows 8 may bar charms bar research?) type or paste the following and press ENTER to drill down to the profiles folder):

    %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Here you can see a folder - in this case, double-click that - or more than one case - in this case, double-click on in what looks like the most recently updated.

Scroll down and rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old as well.

Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?

Thank you! Your thing 'out of scope' brought me exactly what I need! I realized it was broken because of my second monitor/TV... It wasn't "on" the TV, but because he was off it broke somehow... So, once I've restarted BOTH on, she came back to my main screen/monitor (no tv). I don't know why he did it, but he must have crashed on my main screen because the TV was turned off... Strange...

  • Cannot align the bottom edge of the photo with the top of the taskbar on the H - P dv7-4296 running Windows 7

I have a dv7-4296nr running Windows 7.  I use a slide show for my wallpaper.  But some of the graphics that I use are not among the standard background images and are not size 1600 x 900 pixels.  I resized them so that the vertical dimension is 900 pixels and the horizontal is not more than 1600 pixels.

I want to put a text caption simple (usually only one word) in the lower right corner of the image, as close as possible to the lower edge.  Put the text in the image is easy, but he displayed is not!

The problem is that the taskbar hide the bottom of the image, including the legend.  I can think of two approaches to solve the problem, but have not been able to get either to work.

The preferred approach is to resize and place the photos so that the bottom of the image is almost exactly in line with the top of the to-do bar and the top of the image is at the top of the screen.  That would allow me to display the entire image with the caption placed where I like it.  I was not able to resize the images and place them in the display to achieve this.  Can you tell me how to proceed?

The other answer, which is less satisfactory, is to move the legend to the top, so the base line is just above the top of the taskbar.  How far away from the lower edge of the baseline of the text image will have to be to do this?

    Thanks for your help!

The taskbar are 40 pixels high, so you can see only 860 900 pixels display area.  The simplest solution is to put the pixel text-based line at least 40 of the bottom of the image and use the option Center in the positioning of the image menu.  Unfortunately, this leaves the background pixels 40 obscured by the taskbar.

A more elegant solution is to resize the image in order to make the vertical dimension 860 pixels.  I use Corel Paint Shop Pro, which has a function called 'Size of the canvas', and I don't know there are similar functions in other paint programs.  Canvas size allows you to add a background (a "Web") and specify the size of the canvas as well as the location of the image on the canvas.

I make the white of the canvas, 900 pixels high and the same width as the image.  It gives me a bunch of white 'canvas' 40 pixels up and down.  I add the text, and then store the resulting image in the folder that contains the images on my desk of slides.

It works very well: the taskbar don't obscure than the white stripe, while I can see the entire image with the text placed where I want.
