Yoga 900 with ubuntu 14.04

Hi all

I recently bought 900 Yoga to install ubuntu 14.04, but the kernel does not seem to provide a touchpad driver and touchscreen driver by default. I followed the steps mentioned in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=204355 with the 4.4rc6 kernel source code. However, the touchpad and the touch screen do not work. I guess I'm missing some parameters in the config file.

I was wondering if anyone was faced with a similar problem and can help to guide me to solve the problem.

Thank you.

  • Yoga 900 wakes up from his sleep when picked up by the short edge

I want to show Aproblematique I had with my 900 Yoga to see if others have had similar problems.

I discovered this when I put my Yoga, (who was asleep) in my backpack and then subsequently noticed he was awake. It took me a while to understand what was going on, but I finally decided that she had nothing to do with the backpack.

My 900 Yoga wakes when picked up by the short edge (as I have done to put n my backpack). You can see in the video:

Yoga 900 wake when picked up

(BTW - I'm not press the laptop, I'm just taking it as it is necessary to pick it up by the edge.) Press the lid and there is a pressure on the rise on the bottom. It is the pressure on the lid which seems to be the cause of the laptop to wake up)

Note that Lenovo has been great and sent me a replacement laptop. But I'm curious to know if others see this same problem.

Is this a common problem with 900 Yoga?

  • Yoga 900 - battery plugged in, does not support.

    Hello

I seem to have a 'No load' intermittent problem on my Lenovo Yoga 900.

This happens often when it is fully charged and I unplug for a few minutes and then plug it in again. If I let it go below 93 to 95% it will tell usually "plugged in, charging" again.

Is this some kind of glitch or a feature? I tried looking to see if I had the setting of 'conservation' and I do not have.

I have a few days to take it back to the store if I need to. I'd really rather not send it because we have problems of the Stagecoach drop packets that end up getting robbed because we live in an apartment with several locked doors, so they usually it plant next to the door and run off and then someone else takes off with our business. Had it happens a few times with orders from Amazon. (grr)

Thanks to anyone who can answer this question!

Comment to Moderator: The model is added to the object for clarity.

Good day and welcome to the community.

It is my experience with my 900 Yoga and the Yoga s 900. In this way the system does not constantly on 1 or 2%, which is not good for the battery. In contrast, Mode of Conservation will be charge at ~ 60% and then stops. That has certain advantages, too. Personally, I don't use The Mode of preservation, and so far I have not seen no negative effect on my batteries.

    I hope this helps.
    Kind regards.

    Good day, ksac42.

The biggest challenge for this problem is no power Bank I know will be compatible with the charging cable USB Yoga. If you look closely, you will see two wires in the connector (outside the 4 standard) which are used to transport the 20V required to charge the battery inside.

  • 13isk yoga 900 - Get n pen trig to work?

    Hello

I recently bought the 13isk yoga 900 and I absolutely he love until now.

Now, I came across the pen digitizer from my last laptop. Its a N-trig LS04-A09. It came with a laptop Fujitsu Stylistic Q702. I was wondering if I can use the pen with my new yoga as well.

If so, how do I install it? My google search has not been successful of success at all.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello

The simple answer is: no, it won't work.

The trig pen n requires a special the digitizer surface behind the glass of the screen, as the book of surface, or on tablets of Galaxy of note, it will not work on standard touchscreen.

  • Two screens external yoga 900

    Hello

Everyone figured out how to connect two external displays with Yoga 900 using the C USB port? I really want to buy it, but this is a dealbreaker for me.

You can use a Type C USB adapter DisplayPort in conjunction with a DisplayPort STD hub or a USB Type C appropriate adapter that incorporates a hub of STD.

If one of the external screens supports chaining, you can use a C of Type USB to DisplayPort adapter to fix the screen on the 900 of Yoga. Thereafter, you must connect the second screen on the first screen DisplayPort output.

  • Some problems minors yoga 900

    Hello

I recently started using a 900 yoga, but have found that some problems with the way things are displayed. Google Chrome has a weird blue bar at the top right below my favorites. In addition, Google Chrome does not well fit. I use the default 250% scaling in Windows.

I turned off auto brightness in power settings, but the brightness of the screen, always adjusts automatically.

Sometimes the trackpad records clicks if I double click, for example.

Well, it's more a problem of Windows, but not all synchronized to my old laptop to it (as my desktop wallpaper).

Could I please get some help with these questions?

I found the solution for the automatic issuance of brightness on the link below. Number 2 covers the problem I had.

  • Problems audio yoga 900

I have audio problems with my brand new 900 of Yoga.

I like everything else on the laptop but when I watch something on my computer audio has always been this noise of crackling CONSTANTLY that the speakers are going out or something. I have the audio a level 12 or 14 when this happens. I never put my noise level above 20. It is really annoying, especially since it's a brand new computer.

I want to contact technical support, but this site is designed terribly I know even where there are a number of mail or telephone for support.

Please, any help would be great.

    Thank you

Hello somang2, welcome to the Forums and I'm sorry that you are having problems with your Yoga 900.

To contact support, or click the 'Support' link at the top of the page, just scroll down and click on the link 'Contact us' in the support section.

You will be redirected in Lenovo's Support pages. Probably the fastest option would be to have a hotline to trigger a repair under warranty service. If you choose the 900 Yoga and provide your serial number through the product support page, you should see the support options such as "call me", 'submit a service request' and 'cat '.

  • Yoga 900 - what is your BIOS information?

    Hello

Some of you useful people can tell me what is written for your Yoga 900 machine in the BIOS to "product name"?

The case is that my 900 Yoga was for a warranty repair and replaced the motherboard. What a nightmare!

First they send back me a machine with a Virgin motherboard. No info series etc. Service he left.

Now she's back. Series No etc. is now correct but "Product Name" said "Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK" is clearly wrong.

So now I want to hear what wrote for those of you who has a 900 unrepaired Yoga what wrote for "product name"?

Later today, I'll have to fix it once more. But if someone cal tell me what is written in their BIOS I had to be very happy so I know when it is correct. I have a 500 yoga, so I have an idea of what is true - but I want to be sure that it is correct.

    Thanks in advance.

    See you soon,.

The name of the product in the BIOS should certainly be "Lenovo YOGA 900-13ISK"

It certainly seems that the service center has made a mistake.

  • How to upgrade my browser Firefox with Ubuntu?

Yahoo no longer works with my old Firefox browser.

    I only work with ubuntu.

where can I get an upgrade?

    Thank you!

You could try to update your version of distro (Canon) of Firefox but IIRC the version of Ubuntu, you seem to be on 8.04 LTS (Lucid) cannot provide official updates of Firefox (or probably other software such as Open Office/LibreOffice).

You can switch to a new version of Ubuntu, possibly 12,04 LTS (accurate). I use. Accurate will a newer version of Firefox, which updated the Installer Firefox distribution.

The other alternative is to install Mozilla Firefox. Who will install an additional browser. For purposes of comparison and evaluation, I also run several versions of Mozilla Firefox. Let me know if you need further information.

You may need to consider using a second profile Firefox, or the transfer of bookmarks etc between versions of Firefox or the operating system.

  • Nightly Ubuntu connects not with Ubuntu 11.10 3.0.0 - 17-generic, but firefox 11.0 kernel is still working in the same kernel version (the source of the problem since 3.0.0 - 16A gave no problem)

Every night of Ubuntu does not connect (crashes and doesn't stop not withouyt one kill pkill or root) with Ubuntu 11.10 and the recent 3.0.0 - 17-generic kernel

11.0 Firefox still works in the same kernel version and I use it now. The source of the problem is perhaps the core Ubuntu since 3.0.0 - 16 core gave no problem

    Hello

Please also check if this happens in a new profile. If the new profile is correct, you can later copy the necessary personal data of the old profile. Firefox stores your personal data and settings in a different location (folder profile) separated from its files/folder. A new profile would default Firefox settings (Tools (Alt + T) > Options, and topic: config ) and usually also would be vacuum of Extensions and themes (appearance) in tools > Add-ons) and their parameters. In addition, a new profile would have no previous website stored data/settings etc, (Tools > clear recent history).

  • Satellite U940 PSU6VA - Dual boot with Ubuntu based distributions

    _ * My specifications: * _
    * Model: * Toshiba Ultrabook (Satellite PSU6VA - 00S 002 U940)
    * Operating system: * Windows 8.1 x 64 (upgrade of Windows 8 x 64)

I would like to set up my computer to dual boot with Windows 8.1 (x 64) and Zorin OS 9.1 (64-bit).

ZORIN OS is a derivative of Ubuntu which maintains a binary compatibility with Ubuntu i.e. Ubuntu and Zorin use the same drivers and can run the same applications. John Damascene is more or less just Ubuntu with a different desktop environment and some additional preinstalled applications.

So far, I know that I need to disable the QuickStart Windows 8.1. What I have to do something else (for example disable Secure Boot, CSM, etc.)?

In addition, my Ultrabook comes with 2 hard drives: 500 GB HARD drive and a 30 GB SSD. Windows uses the HARD disk for storage and for implementing SSD caching, through technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Is it possible to set up John of Damascus to do so (preferably without disabling caching on Windows)?

NOTE: I prefer to do things using graphical interfaces, rather than the CLI. I don't mind given CLI instructions; also just showed me the GUI equivalents if possible. I use the CLI if there is no alternative.

Answer: If you want to dual-boot, do NOT select WSC as preventing Windows to start.
You shouldn't have to disable startup secure either, but I can't promise that. I think that Ubuntu 14 has support for secure boot.

Answer: No, I don't think that there is a way to use the SSD in Zorin without making it unusable for Windows.
    Suggestion - let it be.

  • Re: BIOS version 3.30 Tecra A11/M11: problems with Ubuntu systems?

I just got the updated BIOS version 3.30 on my Tecra A11/M11 invitation.
I'm still under Win7 now, but plan to add a dual boot with Ubuntu when the next LTS strikes in April.

Is anyone having problems with the new BIOS?
Should I upgrade or leave intact 3.20?

I don't find any evidence of trouble with 3,20.

Why upgrade BIOS if everything is OK?

In addition to as much as I know that Toshiba can't stand not the Linux operating system, and I doubt that the new BIOS would improve any Linux performance so, if you are satisfied with the version 3.20, stay with that

  • The volume control on the Satellite Pro A200 with Ubuntu 7.10

I have a Satellite Pro A200GE-1F9, I did recently to dual boot with Vista and Ubuntu 7.10. It's the first time I used Linux and most things are going well so far.

However, the volume control (a wheel at the front of the laptop) does not control the volume correctly with Ubuntu, rather than increase the volume smoothly as with Vista, it increases in a 1/8 of maximum volume jumps, the on-screen volume control is always smooth. I think that it is at least partly due to the change of a material volume wheel, as with the latest Toshiba, I have used, for a version of software based. It controls the system volume and runs continuously, without stop at maximum or minimum volumes.

Does anyone know how to change this change in volume for a smooth jump?

    Thanks for any help

    Hello

given that no one here has no idea, nor pilots, nor any information about the driver from toshiba support, nobody will be able to give you some useful information.

Have you ever google and checked the ubuntu forums? According to me, which will bring you closer the source here instead.
So just to start to ask in the ubuntu forums because I think that someone is there who maybe has the same problem as you.

I hope that artistry a kind of programmer. ;)
