Yosemite clean install hangs on the screen 'set up '.

I recently had some problems with my iMac intel in 2009. I had to change the HD as it was damaged and the battery and the power source. I Yosemite on a USB bootable and have gone through all the pages together (picking countries, logging into my account, accepting the TOS, etc.) and am now stuck on the screen "Setting up your Mac. It has been 9 hours now with spinning lines. I thought I was a USB2 connection and a new 2 TB drive (for some reason, it appears in the as 3 TB disc utilities) is to take the time. But I'm curious as this time seems excessive. Seems locked up to me but a friend who was in IT, and runs on Linux based machines say configuration it faces at work (huge machines - 20-40TBs) takes a long time because it must map the available space (which I probably described it wrong, but that's the idea).

Does not seem normal to me but if it is I'll let it run until it's done. Or am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance for any ideas and help you can offer.

OK, something must be wrong. It runs 14 hours now.

    Hello Erousculp,

Thank you for posting.  I just looked into your question and noticed that you are using a videocard of Nvidia desktop/game.  The combination that the nvidia drivers have had some problems with Vista and this could be the root of your problem.  Video card manufacturers generally has really intend to their home desktop video cards to use in the environment of heavy graphics CAD and 3D modeling software.  Another note, it's that both your processor manufacturer and card mother manufacter have compatibility problems between their product lines, then you want to check possible BIOS updates for your motherboard.  Nephilum i7 is a very recent product range and could have issues as well unknown.  In the last year or more, I noticed an increase in stability problems when they are used together.

  • How to clean install instead of the pre-installed version + bloatware

    Hello

I just bought a Toshiba Z930 customized directly from Toshibadirect.com.  I also paid extra for the upgrade to Windows 7 ultimate/SP 1.

Unfortunately, the laptop is severely overloaded with dozens of programs of Toshiba crapware, and several of their 'partners '.  The laptop came with NO discs, and I had to create my own backup disks if you ever want to do a "refresh of factory' which includes all the crapware.

I contacted toshiba sales and technical support to ask to do a clean install just Windows 7 Ultimate, and their only choice is:
-Use "factory refreshing" disks which makes me always welcome back to a complete system of crapware
-Use Add/Remove programs to remove dozens of their crapware programmes - which will of course leave all kinds of residual junk in my system.

    Question:
Where can I get a copy of Windows 7 ultimate SP 1 (64 bit) to do a clean install in my laptop and then activate it using the license key that is located on the sticker affixed to the bottom of my laptop?

    Thank you
    Russ

You can get the ISO via the links which have been previously frequently published in these groups

But during the installation of the "Virgin" to win, you must then consult your PC manufacturer to install all the drivers specific to sys

You can uninstall anyway whatever you decide is bloatware, gift of the so will not affect the underlying system of victory and leave no residual undesirable (other than certain folders, you may need to remove)

BTW very little PC came with relocations disks, they rely on a hidden restore partition and the end-user creates the recovery disks according to the instructions of PC manufacturers

Try to do the same thing. Remove the HARD disk, restart the laptop, just to see if you will be able to enter the BIOS.

  • My HP Pavilion laptop g6 hangs on the screen then the screen goes black!

Hi, I have a laptop Hp pavilion g6 running on windows 7 that I bought for my high school diploma. Of course she had only one year warranty. At first, all was well, then he would start gel and goes black. I restored to factory settings, and everything was fine until Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning I woke up and I went to turn on my laptop after hibernating all night, as I usually do. Only instead of commissioning, he went to the logon screen and after clicking on enter my password it froze. He stayed there for a good 2 hours and then the screen went black and the small arrow white that presented themselves. After that, nothing so I turn it off and back on it. It does the same thing. Last night, after trying for several hours, I restored to factory again. This morning it worked for a few hours, then the office frozen and then the screen went black and is insensitive. Currently, it is still insensitive.

Update: it works fine in Safe Mode.

    Hello

303 error code is a failure of the short test (DST) disk Self and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This also corresponds to the start-up question and would explain why you can run safe mode because the disk is under less load (that is, much less read/write requests).

I gathered from your original post that the laptop is no longer under warranty - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, please let me know - include the full model number and your notebook series g6 Nr - see here for an explanation.

    Kind regards

I'm running a white box (Yes, I know) built a tyan s5380 and intel 2 5430 s. Have tried various bios without success, including a reset settings to default values (and then only allowing virtualization of intel).  Especially I was wondering if someone else has installed ESXi on this Board sucessfully, or if I'm wasting my time.

The question that you see is very probably due to ACPI incompatibility where the Setup program does not recognize the keyboard properly. If you have a keyboard USB, unplug / plug it at this stage. This usually allows.

  • Satellite P300 with XP hangs at the screen "starting windows."

I recently bought the Satellite P300 - 01 and had XP installed on it. I have fixed all the problems except for the question, that I'm going to start.

When I turn on the laptop it loads everything flashes on the login screen and then hangs at 'starting windows' screen If I turn it off and then again about three times this issue finally arrives with the login screen. There was an ASP.NET account, and after the BIOS update that he disappeared, but the problem is still there? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

The whole story is really strange

I put t know how you installed XP on this laptop and why an ASP.NET account was created or exist, but in your case I would recommend doing so again.

    Hello

I'm on a 64-bit OS of Windows 2008. I update vCenter 5.5 Update 2 and 5.5 updated 3d.  I can install the SSO, WebClient and Inventory Service very well without any problems.  I get to the vCenter server component and it hangs on "Install Directory Services".  I checked the vminst.log and I get:

    "Try to start ["C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe"/c start /w C:\Windows\system32\ocsetup.exe DirectoryServices-ADAM/passive /norestart].

I Googled that and of course a dozen connections to users having problems with installing the server vCenter on Windows 2012R2 lack the ocsetup.exe. As I said, I'm still on Win2008.  I have not ran sfc/scannow - no chance.  I tried to copy the ocsetup.exe from a Win2008 well-known to vCenter box - same thing.  Tried different accounts thinking I have a bad profile - no luck.  Anyone have a similar problem?

well, too bad.  I guess I wasn't be patient.  This time I let it "hang" and it finally finished after almost an hour.  At least see the progress bar move would have been useful.
