  The specifications for the mobile workstation of zbook are:

  Operating system: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Service Pack 1

  The hard drive is a seagate 1 TB drive that works very well

  This problem has been resolved.

  Right-click all methods have not access external external hard drives and flash drives.

  Sharing, permissions, ownership, administrative changes, all method all failed.

  This problem has been resolved by higher HP product support.  Other levels of support were not able to diagnose the problem or fix.

  The problem has been resolved by:

  (1) determine that he was not a NTFS problem

  (2) using the msconfig to isolate a single service

  When the unique service has been disabled the files on any external drives have been available.

  The service of the problem was the HP Client Security.

  This HP Client Security in its default value is set to deny access.

  Then right-click on the drive and change the permissions, ownership, to administrators, using everyone etc. will fail because they are all trumped by the HP Client Security that is set by default to deny access.

  When that client security is changed the drives become available.  It is not information about this when using the computer and this can be learned by trial and error.

  I hope this helps all those who have z book 17 mobile workstations or HP computers that are equipped with client security.

  Search for related errors in the event viewer.

  Test in safe mode with networkproblem.

  I see that this problem is old enough but you (or others) may have problems with it. Here's what I did:
  -Got to your hard drive and right click on the folder that is causing all the trouble.
  -Click on properties.
  -Click on the Security tab
  -Then click on advanced
  -You will see a window with a few user names. Now click on owner in the tabs above.
  -Click on edit, then select the user name you want to open the folder and don't forget to tick the box that says "Replace the owner of subcontainers and objects", then click on apply.
  A pop will come which says something like "You have replaced the property for the selected records" or something in this way. It worked for me and I hope this post is helpful for some people.

  I used the command line (Administrator) and has been able to use xcopy to copy the locked files on my external hard drive on drive c.  Now they are all unlocked.

  I have a new computer with Windows 7 Professional. Today, I tried to run iTunes. He said I may not access the folder or it has been locked. Of course my user folder has a big lock next to him.   I went my users folder and tried to set the permissions again.

  I have 4 users or group names

  System

  [username] ([username] - PC\ [username])

  Individuals ([username] - PC\HomeUsers)

  Administrators ([username] - PC\Administrators)

  When I wnet in the advanced on ther Security tab my 'home ([username] - PC\HomeUsers) users' group had special permits. I selected it and then click on change permissions. Another very similar screen came. I have selected the Group of users of home again and press Edit I selected a full control. All the checkboxes selected themselves. I hit OK, and then click apply. A box appeared that set permissions. I have several errors telling me that permission could not be set. I kept acknowleding and continues. Once the lock on my users folder disappeared. But iTunes still does not work.

  If the lock on my users folder has dissappeared. iTunes still won't work and I think I just make my Connection public network vulnerable to attacks. Great :)

  While lately I got this problem where some file I download, I don't have the permission to access, which is quite strange for some reason.

  Normally when I download something I automatically be allowed to do whatever with the download file (that is, move files, open, delete, etc.). However, my computer was disable this method and not allowing any user to do something with it. He said something like "this file cannot be accessed, please see the bulletin under administrator" or something of the sort. I managed to solve the problem manually by accessing the properties and in the Security tab, add "Kamchinn(Admin User)" to the Group and enable it, and it works. My question?
