  You might be able to solve your immediate problem of the 30-day activation grace period has expired by resetting it. Follow these steps:

  1. If the computer can be started in a safe mode command prompt, do.

  2. at the command prompt, type this command exactly (space, caps and comma are required):

  Rundll32.exe syssetup, SetupOobeBnk

  3. restart.

  If you did it, your activation grace period will have been reset, giving you more time to work on the problem.

  The answer to your question would be both 'yes' and 'no '.

  IIRC, there is a limit on the number of times your license can be activated via the Internet.

  However, after the limit is reached, you can still call them for telephone activation.

  (You will have to wait before the automated voice system to reach a real person tho)

  I have an oem product which is a hp pavilion dv9000 series laptop computer entertainment. I use vista and win7 on this computer that is configured to dual boot. I decided to start the installation of vista and once I was in I was asked then to activate my product. I might add that I had not used the product Vista for about two weeks and that this problem had occurred once before.  After talking to hp support technician, I was told to reinstall my operating system. My question is this, what could be causing this to? I had never had this problem before my two os on this computer. When I decide to try to activate, I received a message that read the product key you entered is not valid, come on... This is an OEM installation. My computer skills are good enough to where I can solve most of the problems, I had to deal with. Now, that being said, maybe you can explain to me what is causing this glitch before I reinstall my os. Most computers weather, it is an OEM product or one that was bought as a project at home using a purchased Windows installation disc, must be able to endure a time of system dual boot using cmd promt to configure the boot order or a third-party boot order design like Acronis without having this type of problem. Thank you for your help in this matter.

  I get their hands on Microsoft the first time I had the problem, and their comeback was that some the same as yours except they said that HP had to help me it was an oem product and it was out of their hands. I say this, hp told me to reinstall my operating system which has worked so far. What he has done by reinstalling the system was reactivated as if it was installed for the first time.
