"Your USB bootable could not be created" - Win 8.1 on Mavericks

Hello!

I tried in vain to 8.1 Windows Installer on my iMac using Boot Camp.

That's what I'm trying to use:

OS 10.9.5 Mavericks

Model name: iMac

Model identifier: iMac14, 2

End of 2013

Boot Camp Assistant 5.1.2

Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit (OEM DVD)

I started by creating an iso file from the DVD, follow these steps: support.apple.com/en-us/HT203909

Using the instructions on this page, I leave all three checkboxes are checked. Then click on continue. I'm asked to select the ISO disk and destination, what I'm doing. I click on continue and get the following error:

I'm looking for people with similar problems, but proposed solutions did not work for me. In addition, no one has the same combination of OS and Windows, I am trying to use. Is there something that I am missing? Something incompatible?

-ISO Windows is not mounted or open.

-L'ISO is in the folder Documents.

-J' tried the .plist Boot Camp thing and it didn't work (Boot Camp would have not started, so I put the old file and fortunately, it worked again.)

-All devices (except the keyboard and mouse) are inactive.

I would be very grateful for your help!

Well, I found a solution. I downloaded the ISO of https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO

The W10 installer you have is a Setup 32-bit/64-bit mixed and has one or more files that is larger than 4 GB. It does not fit on any drive formatted as FAT.

As 2015 Macs do not support a USB Installer. They create an internal partition called OSXRESERVED and use to install only W8.1/W10.

Can you download an ISO only 64-bit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO and test?

I understand your message that you are not able to install Windows 10 on your MacBook Air. From your post, I see you're under OS X Lion mountain. Windows 10 requires OS X Yosemite or later. Method 1: Temporarily disable the antivirus on the computer program and check if it helps. If it works, you may need to check the settings of the program.

Note: Check that you activate your anti-virus protection on the computer back after you complete these steps. It is not recommended to disable these settings on the computer. It's just to solve the problem.

  • Restore point could not be created

I tried to create a Point of restoration, but in vain.

Error measage: Restore Point could not be created for the following reason: access denied (0x80070005).

I am logged on as administrator, why I can not create a restore point?

    Hello Paul0246,

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft answers Forum.

We will try to the simple troubleshooting step: turn off System Restore, then turn it back on. This will delete all existing restore points.

How to disable the system restore in Windows Vista:
    http://bertk.MVPs.org/html/disablesrv.html

Don't set system restore to monitor other than readers that what is installed on Windows.

Have you tried to add your account to the list of permissions for the directory of system restore, etc. If this does not work, then try to disable user account control and see if that is the question.
    To disable UAC

    1. Click Startand then click Control Panel. In Control Panel, click user accounts.

    2. In the user accounts window, click user accounts.

    3. In the user accounts tasks window, click turn on UAC enabled or disabled.

    4. If UAC is currently configured in Admin Approval Mode, the user account control message appears. Click continue.

    5. Clear the check box use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer , and then click OK.

    6. Click restart now to apply the changes immediately, or click restart later and close the user accounts tasks window.

If disable UAC does not help with the creation of a system restore point, try the following:

    (1) put in place a start-up in minimal mode and see if a 3rd party program or software may interfere with the system restore point.
Follow the article below for instructions on the msconfig configuration (clean boot).
KB 929135 - how to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

    (2) turn off the anti-virus and try to create a system restore point. I would also try to uninstall too.

Please reply back and let us know if any of these steps has contributed to your question or if you still need help.

    Sincerely,

When you try to back up my computer, I get a message that says "a snapshot could not be created. Storage insufficient to create the shadow copy storage file. My D drive shows that it is full. Can I format drive D I can backup?

    Hello

The D: partition is normally your recovery partition that you do not touch with the exception of the enumerated grounds.

You don't tell us the size of your D: partition.

There are between 5-15GBs, is the recovery partition and read more:

Your recovery Partition was photographed on your hard drive during the production of your computer by the manufacturer for all of these reasons.

    1. to reinstall Vista from in the case of a failure of the system, based on individuals or the keys at startup.

F10 or Alt + F10 or F11 are a couple of different manufacturers use sequences.

You will need to ask your manufacturer for proper sequence.

    2. to make the recovery disks on if your drive hard breaks down, so that you can then reinstall the operating system on a new hard drive.

Also ask them how to make records.

Your D: Recovery Drive is should not be used for backups, defragmented, etc..

There are backups on an external hard drive.

To resolve the problems that have arisen with the recovery D: Partition, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to remove all that has been added to it.
