  No, no. If you bought a device really unlocked carrier (IE, from blackberry) If you take the SIMcard on the phone and run the update, your update should come from the blackberry (independent carrier, since no sim in the phone). This is how it worked for me anyway.

  Its possible you may have a filter defined in address book on your BlackBerry® smartphone.  In the address book, press the menu key and choose filter.  If there is no boxes checked, remove the check mark, and then check the address book again.

  Recently, I bought the iPhone SIM-Free from the shop Duty Free in Dubai World.
  I used my iPhone in Dubai very shortly and I did not have iMessage and FaceTime option on my phone. I know that laws of United Arab Emirates telecommunication UNITED and I know why people out there have this apps.
  But when I arrived in my born country last week I put the new sim card without restriction for iMessage and FaceTime and when I open the Message in the settings, I saw "Power" toggle iMessage and I was surprised that it is possible that. When I pass switches on 'On' for iMessage, who runs BEGIN WORK PERFECTLY FINE WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM EVEN on LTE network.

  When I try to do the same thing with FaceTime, I saw that there is still no menu FaceTime in settings.   This is because one of the configuration files of the iPhone disables it for iPhones with AB, AE and AH maybe just before the / is their model numbers. If a Middle East SIM card in the iPhone, it can substitute for it, but no SIM card non - Middle Eastern won't. There is no other way to substitute it, or get FaceTime on your iPhone outside the Middle East.

  An unlocked phone should work on any compatible media. What, exactly, is happening? You get an error message? What does the error say?

  The only option would be to select the Edit on the contact option and hold your finger on the number and select the option copy on the left hand side.

  If you tried to put a sim card into your phone and it came with invalid SIM card, it means that your phone is locked to the carrier that you have used previously that you bought the phone and only that carrier can unlock for you.

  When you bought the phone, what carrier sim did you use to activate the phone?  If you bought the phone at Wal-Mart and it was free and not unlocked sim, then it means that the phone freezes to the first carrier sim card that you insert into the phone, which looks like your phone has made.  We need to analyze this carrier to get your phone unlocked.  Only this carrier can unlock the phone.  Nobody else can.

  Where, exactly, did you buy it? If you bought it somewhere other than directly from Apple, it isn't an unlocked phone. ≠ Free SIM unlocked.

  Carphone warehouse is notorious for not properly disclosing to customers that their SIM free phones are not actually unlocked and will blocked the first British company used. They can not be activated with a non-British carrier.

  I bought a new, SIM-free iPhone IS when in London last month directly from Apple Store online.  I am now in Turkey and have found settings > general > topic > carrier shows vodafone UK 24.0.  I guess the carrier link is because (I don't have a UK SIM card) when I picked up the phone, an employee of the Apple Store inserted sound SIM in the phone to activate Touch ID.  I was in contact with Apple Support twice and took their advice to restore the phone (2 GB of download).  Their advice was to turn off the phone, connect cable to phone on my MAC, start iTunes and then insert the cable into the phone while pressing the power and home buttons.  Both times, the phone restarts at the end of the restoration process and the carrier still shows vodafone UK 24.0.  Who that it be restored successfully a phone SIM-free, without carrier to its original state?

  You get an error when you insert a SIM card? When you restore with iTunes you get a message in iTunes that says that the phone is unlocked?

  You'll have a SIM-free phone, but not an unlocked phone. There is a difference. A SIM-free phone is delivered without a SIM card, an unlocked phone is one that is able to use any SIM card. If you purchase the AT & T device, you will need to ask AT & T to unlock the device. Devices to specific carriers are locked for carriers.
